Apps for Pilots on HD2? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Are there any good apps for pilots, there are tons of them on the iPhone. The only one I find is EfisCE...

Nobody? Guess this shows the real weakness of the HD2 vs iPhone ...

I don't see how you can justify the HD2/WinMo not having applications for such a specific market niche a 'weakness'.

That's true. The real weakness is that WM is on so many platforms with so many different hardware specs that a unified app approach is almost impossible. I am frustrated with this atm as well - some apps simply don't run or have bugs, some need a special version etc... I hope this mess gets cleaned up with WM7!

What I indeed meant was the unavailability of such a niche apps for an OS that exists for more than 10 years, and has plenty of them for a phoneOS that exists 3 years (and the apps only 2 years...). That must say something in general no?

I dread the day my pilot uses a WM device for anything other than microsoft flight sims.,,,LOL

LOL, just as a backup ;-)
The real reason is to "show off" in the cockpit, just to say "look what my phone can do, exactly the same as these million Euros instruments ... "
Oh and also a lot of pilots have the iPhone, I just want to show them also that there are other -better- PDAPhones on the market ...

I was just thinking, a pilot using Manilla-based apps oughtta be kicked in the nut.. err shins.
Same goes for hardly certified iPhone apps, but that aside.

I've seen many aviation GPS apps for WM these past years... here are a few:
- Navgps
- PocketFMS
- Jeppesen Mobile
I remember a friend buying an ipaq PocketPC just for aviation like 7 years ago...
It's actually pretty much the opposite, there are many apps, but they are now getting so old they're being forgotten, and not much new or good-looking has come recently...
The iphone has things like Air Navigation Pro, very nice and convenient to use.

Wont a phone bring the plane down anyway?
Pilots should be leading by example, unless all the phone/plane stuff is just a load of crap....

Tnx, I'll look into those programs. I however did use during my training one of those programs on my Cassiopeia E-125. This in combination with a GPS, worked fine. Now however it does not run on WM6.5 anymore. I even contacted the maker, but no response (already 2 weeks ago) ...

A phone will not bring a plane down they can at most disturb the radio frequencies. Depending of the company you fly, there are other policies.
In the cockpit, we do turn off the phone (wifi, GSM, GPRS...), but we are allowed to use the phone as a calculator, agenda, gps receiver (GPS does not send any signals).

OK. No idea about WM6.5 as I don't have an HD2 yet, but at least NavGPS and PocketFMS run fine on my WM6.1 Kaiser (albeit a bit slow if loading big databases).
I personally quite like NavGPS, it's probably less capable as it's stand-alone (PocketFMS has a PC app, you can select maps, create routes etc and then transfer them to the PPC), but it means that it's simple, you can just fire it up anytime and start using it without preparation / flightplan creation etc.
What I'm not sure is about database currency, I never had a subscription and just used the community-made airfield databases for Europe that have been made a few years ago but were sufficient as it was just for indication.
EDIT:
There's also GPS Tuner, which is not aviation-specific so doesn't have airport databases and such, but is a good tool for simple guidance/logging. Set the destination coordinates as target, and enjoy a nice customisable screen with everything you need. And then it gets you a nice google earth track

Well your HD2 could do the same thing (maybe more cause it has a digital compass), but someone has to make and release the app.
Btw. GPS Tuner is a very nice GPS tool (Data, Maps, Compass (with solar info), Destination).

Phone Profiles: for Windows Mobile Second Edition

I'm announce I rewrite my program Phone Profiles to be compatibility with Windows Mobile Second Edition.
My goal is: fix all bugs from the previos versions, and design the most understandably and easy to use interface.
To do the best work, I'm awaiting all your comments and suggestions.
For the person who give me most of feedbacks I will give a free copy of the new version.
Below you see first screnshots of new settings dialogs.
As you know, the Second Edition software have to run on 240x240 240x320 480x640 both in portrait and landscape orientation. I designed these dialogs in main area 240x240 always. The title will be move to the right side in landscape mode and will hide in the smaller 240x240 devices.
For Phone Calls, SMS, Email, MSN Messanger and Alert settings all dialogs will duplicate. But in this version there are 2 dialogs for each feature. 1: for general options and 2: for selecting the sound file and volume.
You can notice I added the feature: Reaction. This will allow you to set what your device should do when the new phone call is upcoming or finished. For example you can turn off the device power automatically after your talking will finish. Finally I added here the possibility to turn on the speakerphone mode automatically (without car-set connected).
1st recommendation
...
FIX THE DEAD LINKS ON YOUR WEB SITE!
Now, if you do that, then I might believe you're serious about listening to your customers about bug fixes.
I apologize about being so harsh, but you've really irked a lot of people.

excuse me: which one (link)?
I thought I updated some pages lately.
question
Can you set repeating alert for missed calls and SMS?
sms reply
As you can see above (refresh, I just added more screenshots):
I added the auto-reply message for SMS.
8)
The feature of SMS arrived sound has the following values:
Sound: nothing
Sound: once
Sound: normal
Sound: longer ( = 2x)
Sound: longest ( = 5x)
I dont think the continuous repeat is necessary. It is danger because it can discharge your battery (for example when you use PPC with no fully charged battery, long day).
If you really want a looooong sound of SMS, just make your own sound with a long time of playing. As I did it for my friend some time ago.
More than four profiles would be very useful, JGUI. Example:
Normal (medium sounds, no vibrate: desktop)
Loud (loud sounds, vibrate: pocket)
Quiet (tiny sounds, no vibrate: late evening)
Vibrate (no sounds, vibrate: cinema)
Silent (no sounds, no vibrate, light flash: sleeping)
That is the only thing missing from My|Phone Profiles Version 3.1, which IMHO is still excellent software and works perfectly for me.
Version 5 was not good. Too many features, and too many bugs.
Keep it simple and make it work perfectly! Good luck with the new version.
ok
with respect to your suggestion:
less features
5 profiles will be
or maybe to be more conveniently I will give the selector: 3/4/5 profiles
thx

(maybe I should ask the author: why his copied my design of interface - icons placements, features)
For WM2003 Second Edition? Who would want that? The first Second Edition WM2003PE will be out sometime in June/July? The Motorola? Then It will take another 2-3 months before O2, I-Mate, Qtek provide upgrade to WM2003 SE. Serioously, shouldn't you put developing Phone Profile Seriously for WM2003SE at the bottom of your priority list and start listen to your customer first and fix all the bug that is still there in the current version. You probably should have at least 5 betatesters with different providers to test it for you before releasing to the public. Not using your paid customers as betatesters. This would be my suggestion for you.
I have not try your software yet and seeing so many unhappy posters in your thread I am a little bid reluctant to try especially when PocketZenPhone is working fine and Free.

Maybe you should ask the author why his software is working as expected, as opposed to the current version of Phone Profiles
As for the icon placement and features etc., Zendrui is listening very carefully to the users of his software, and his speed of implementing features requested by users/testers is awesome!
Give your product for free to be even with your customers
JGUI,
I bought your product and I was very disapointed because it never worked, even mor, the people from handango returned me the money.
I think that when you had a stable product you should give it for free just to compensate all the people you damaged.
excuse me
I have many customers use this program without problems. I'm too.
I dont understand why should be a free. This is my time of working. And "time is a money".
All my software has trial free versions. You can always test the trial version before you decide to pay. I think it's honour.
By the way, I made a few another freewares.
hey pal...you got to fix your problems first before venturing into Second Edition...
learn to walk before you run...
just my advice to you
Product should be free
JGUI,
You say the product should not be free because you spent your time writing it. We don't care how long it took you to write it--we care about whether the damn thing works!
How would you like to test drive a car for 30 days, only to find out it's running on 7 of the 8 cyclinders and 5th gear doesn't work!!! DO YOU CARE HOW LONG THE MANUFACTURER SPENT BUILDING IT? Hell no!
So, LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS and make a product that works. I think PocketZenPhone identified a need in the marketplace, recognized deficiencies in development and filled the gap with a good product!
Many-a-great software programmers cannot run a buisness. It sounds like you're headed down that path.
WE ARE YOUR CUSTOMERS--LISTEN TO US!

Ough! Basically you're saying "Well, since I cannot reproduce the problems some of my customers are facing, and other customers have no problems at all, I will not look into the issues some of my customers came up with."
In other words, you're like an internet Service Provider's helpdesk who doesn't care about the 2% people who are having odd problems...

I've tried JGUI Phone Profiles and had no problems at all. And i liked it much more than ZenPhone personally.
So stop those childish flame wars and give it a try so U can judge this new version.
BTW. I havn't tried any previous versions so i have totally no idea about those problems U R writing about. This ver. looks like nice peace of software IMHO...

[APP REQ] Formula 1 Live Timing

The new 2009 formula 1 season is on its way and it would be nice to be able to follow a race on our phones. So far i have only seen a java application that does this job but the resolution is far too small
(Live Yamigo - check it out here http://live.yamigo.com/F1Servlet/)
I have no idea about developing so, does any developer want to develop this for us? I'd gladly assist in the graphics work.
Functions:
Live timing
Lap chart
Comentaries Feed
Weather Screen
vga res & other
Im sure there are much more people interested in such an application.
You are right, I'm interested!
Sorry I can't develop it, though..
Please post questions and/or requests in the Questions and Answers section of the forum. This thread will probably be moved to that section. Thanks.

I'm interested too...
But before starting a dev, we need to know where to find datas... I don't know websites that send such informations...
Do you mean the live timing? If so you can get it free from http://www.formula1.com. This uses a java applet to show lap times etc, I also have this on when im watching the live qualifying/race.
yes live timing..i also tried that on my touch pro but its very small resolution and it only takes up a small portion of the screen..making it extremely hard to read..id love to see this developed for vga too...
Hi guys,
I've just tested the service, and it works well. But as already said, its so small resolution.
I've downloaded the LARGE version (http://live.yamigo.com/F1Servlet/dl/), even that is small for my HTC Touch Diamond. Its probably 320x240.
Anyway its the only way to have the F1 Live Timing. Thanks for the intel.
AleX
The large version works fine on my HTC Advantage X7500. But then I didn't install any high res applications. So perhaps that's why the application displays larger on my device. It's reasonably close to full screen.
I do keep getting internet connection security dialogs (need to click yes everytime it downloads a bit of data). Is there a wat to prevent that? Can I mark the application as trusted or something?

You would need to upgrade the JAVA version on your phone if you have a wm 6.1/6.5. If you have a version of WM prior to that then I am afraid that you will just have to keep clicking on connection dialog iirc.
I will ask a couple of lads at work to see what they can do (if they can be bothered that is) as I work as IT support for a JAVA house that specialises in connected apps and I know quite a few of the developers like F1

I've got the "intent Midlet Manager" version 11.1.7.1036 on it. I think that's the most recent version.
I've found a workaround though. I wrote the yamigo developers and they indicated that I should get only 2 dialogs. Then I found that indeed I got only 2 and it kept stable after that. Then I switched apps and the dialogs returned.
Seems like it only works when I have my internet connection closed before I open the java midlet and then let the midlet connect.
Weird, but it works.

I once decompiled the original F1 live timing application. Not sure if it's still that easy, but I could read the source for the entire java application. I used that to work out the live datastream. Never got around to writing the WM app that I planned though.
Here a screenshot from the application working on my device:

Last summer I made live-f1 version that works somehow in HTC hermes running WM6.0 (HTC original). It is based on the live-f1 program source code that works in linux xterm. It has WM gui (without any touch specific features). Features include only timing data, fastest lap, and comments. Timing screen is scrolled with arrow keys.
I was thinking about delayed timing feature next, but due to FIA favoring double diffuser Teams, I have not had motivation to make that part.
Open Source live timing library written in .NET
If anyone is interested, I've written a library - Open Source in C# - to receive the live timing data from the server used by the official live timing app. Obviously it's reverse engineered, so I haven't yet done all of the data. However the interesting stuff is done (i.e. not the weather info).
Note: It's currently targeted at the desktop .NET framework, but shouldn't take much effort to port it to the compact framework if any one is interested.
So..if anyone would like to develop some app's I've also included some existing recorded data that can be 'played' back using the library's simulator component so you won't have to wait for an actual race event to see if your app works.
It can be found here Live Timing Home Page (http://livetiming.turnitin.co.uk)
Thanks,
Liam.
p.s. If you'd like to contribute your app's and or code to the project, let me know and I'll add you in.

Same here, trying to figure out a way to have live timing on my HD2
Official app soon available? http://www.formula1.com/mobile_services/live_timing.html
Heres the official jad file. Its for the HD and i cant get it to work on my Diamond 2, so cant let you know if it works or not.
works on first run, causes error on second launch, have to re-install!!
It's now not on the f1 website again, I guess they realise there is an issue with it and are trying to fix it?
I'm still laughing at those with an iphone who have to pay £20 for the official app and we get it for free!!
I've downloaded the "HTC HD2" version, and it isn't working at all with jbed:
E: 2java.lang.OutOfMemoryError
But, with jblend works
They have been putting it on the web and removing it since yesterday... a little bit more testing wasn't been that bad
Edit: I forget to mention that, even it's working with jblend... i cannot sign-in with my email/password... i've been forced to "Try" the application
What phone, what java version?
I am unable to run it on Diamond using JBed. Anybody succeeded with this. If yes, what midlet manager is able to run this applet? Thanks.

Some initial comments and thoughts about this app:
- The tick at the top right feels naturally clickable. I guess that's because to the average windows phone user, that top right has always either been an "OK" or a "X" so it's somewhat natural to assume whatever icon is on the top right is clickable
- The physics of the flow of the menu items are very very sensitive. If I drag them for a distance equivalent to half of my screen height, they disappear for quite some time before they bounce back. It is also kind of laggy. I understand alot of this has to do with windows mobile OS itself, so I'm not blaming you on this. This is really a good UI effort.
Otherwise this application feels way beyond good comparing with the average windows mobile application. Its metro-like UI is REALLY appealing for a change for my windows mobile device. All functions are working great and browsing the news is a pleasure.
Definitely recommend this app to any windows mobile users in Singapore. I'm gonna spread this app to some friends and partners of mine in Microsoft. I'm sure they will be impressed with this! Good work!
Tested on: HTC Touch Diamond 2 (Topaz) running Windows Mobile 6.5

ahhh its the sync icon. will display some other icon instead of the tick in next releases... did not occur to be since i been using 6.5.3 for some time

did not really got to test it with resistive devices. But much of the credit for the physics of the slider goes to Obenix. I think he has done a great job with that wonderful control. i would refer to him on the matter of being able to lower the sensitivity for non capacitive models
Otherwise this application feels way beyond good comparing with the average windows mobile application. Its metro-like UI is REALLY appealing for a change for my windows mobile device. All functions are working great and browsing the news is a pleasure. Perhaps an addition of font size option perhaps in the forms of + or - will be good.
i was hugely inspired and loved metro UI when it came out. was around the same time when i was designing the backend, so heck decided it should follow the WP7 design elements.
The A + or - was orignially a feature request from 'wm007' of mobinauts, credits to him for that idea. Will follow your advice and add the option to change the font size for all other windows in the next release as well. thanks
Definitely recommend this app to any windows mobile users in Singapore. I'm gonna spread this app to some friends and partners of mine in Microsoft. I'm sure they will be impressed with this! Good work!
lol chris chin knows about it, am waiting for market place approval before i proceed to submit the other local news outlets apps (unoffical)

Most of the best pillars of this app would not be without the input or ideas of fellow users. thanks once again for the input.
oh ya, and here is the app compared against other variants on other platforms:
I have tried it on Omnia II and the application is well designed but abit of laggyness in scrolling up and down in the tiles section and the stories text section, if u reach the very end of the text, and overscrolls it, it will take a while to jump back to the text area. Overall i find the application simple and light
Btw, i noe the app through aeronex haha...
Wow! Great! Haha I guess the developers network for Windows Mobile in Singapore is indeed quite small! ^^ I know of several other windows mobile developers also working with not only Chris but also many other peeps in Microsoft.
In any case, The HD2 has the most capable processor, so I'm not entirely sure if it's a very fair test, but I can definitely vouch that this user interface is the best I've seen. I love it!
Apologies about the font + and - actually. I just realized that your app already has the small and big "A"s which in my opinion is more than enough. Very strange I missed that just now, apologies ^^

the only other wm i have is a LGKS20, it has the bounce lag issue. Also the part where the screen is QVGA and cannot "sense" the clicks on tiles. news loading times are averge. lol will do a comparison with all 4 devices next time

i am glad its working for you. i am still trying to find a permanent fix for my other samsung users who face the "outofmemoryexception". Do let me know if the app hangs for your device or what nots errors. So far this problem seems peculiar to the two samsung devices only.
Okae. Yeah, Ismael. The other Chris ^^
lol ya
anyhow, on a side note, got a nice email with some good news from microsoft this morning
Great! All the best for that!
ops, haha after the second try of the app and after i click on a news title to load a full story, i experienced a out of memory exception, it will go on and on even if i restart the application. Would you want the error details?
haha not to worry, am looking into that issue. hope to get it sorted out by this weekend
Congratulations on being featured on the frontpage! Read it on the twitter widget on my nexus this afternoon!
lol did not know until you informed me bro. wow, XDA is as supportive as what i always heard them to be. Thanks

Mobbyway radar detector available on Android

Hi guys,
as said previously in the Windows Mobile Software thread, Mobbyway is an effective FREE radar detector software, that is now available on Android.
A dynamic release of new versions, a growing and growing amount of users (especially since the beginning of september) and a Winmobile version available. And a really reactive forum and team.
Iphone version should be available in November and the amount of informatics dummies that are using "this high technology phone" (hum hum) will, I hope, really increase again the number of users.
I use this software for 3 months and the number of user has amazingly increased !
Nevermore alone on the road ;-)
As said previously, it's a software written in France but also used in Belgium, Netherlands.
If the law allow it (for instance in Germany this kind of software is not allowed), I think you can use it all over the world (it's just GPS coordinates that are transmitted, and I think they will not be stopped at the border ;-)
You should give it a try, because it's really impressive (and free).
Remember that this kind of software is "cooperative" so, even if there are not many users in the beginning, continue to use it and this will reinforce the community.
That's what we call in French a "snow ball effect" (if this snow ball downs a slope)

What is this app is about?
Internationally useful or just in Europe?
It's a GPS-assisted speed camera alert application
It's an app where users declare radar control they've seen (by transmitting GPS coordinate), either fixed radar or mobile radar control.
The next person using the software who travel close to this location is then warned.
I don't know law in US but it's legal in some European countries (Andorra, Belgium,
Denmark, Finland, France, Great Britain, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain,
Sweden,...)
It's legal because this is not a radar "detector" (which is I suppose illegal in most of the countries ;-) but a way for people to share some informations, in this case places where radar control occurs !
As it is (probably) not prohibited to tell your friend that there is a radar control in a place you know, this kind of software is (probably) not illegal.
Most of european countries seems not to be able to forbid this using appropriate law. (I am not a lawyer).
The issue I have with this software is that it is not clear if it will stay free or not.
I can see already the company using the free users to build up a community and database and then suddently switching to a paid system, using data it got thanks to its users !
Ence I would be careful about this particular software.
Another option on Android is A Bon Entendeur (ABE) and I would trust this one more about staying free. But when I tried it several months ago, I didn't find the software appealing, its UI was slow and unefficient.
where?
where can i dl it? i can't see in the android market (SE x10 mini model e10i, android 1.6)
thank you in advance
Why not use trapster.com (for winmob/android/iphone/blackberry/symbian and even palm) ? They already have an incredible international user base and lots of traps in the DB. Cheers, chris
Would be awesome if this was for the US or more specifically LA, lol.

This is what they say on their website :
"...Mobbyway is totally free during the BETA period. The first activation will be valid for one month and will be extended from month to month for a minimum of six months. After the BETA period, a free version of Mobbyway will be available to everyone..."
I don't know what they will REALLY do, but I think it will stay free (as I read on mobbyway forum). We will see.
By the way the download is here :

Hi,
I have tried Trapster as well and must say I'm not sooo very happy with it. Will give Mobbyway a try as well.
BTW: Apps like Trapster or Mobbyway are NOT illegal in Germany.

That's a good news for our German friends... I read it was illegal.
But on the map provided by Mobbyway I saw some radars warned in Germany.
I hope it will work for you.
By the way I also tried the soft Radarfree but the forum was "dead" and no development nor answer has been done for long months on their forum.
This is really not the case with Mobbyway.
PS : A friend of mine is since yesterday a new user of Mobbyway.
PPS : As I am a native french speaker, if you have problem and you don't understand answers on the forum you can ask me to ask ;-)
I tried Trapster before aswell, it's OK but not convincing so I'll give Mobbyway a shot.
I confirm RadarFree to be a dead project as well.
Thanks or Merci Beaucoup for this suggestion dear belgian co-xda-member
PS:
I would love some kind of software that could merge all databases regarding speedscams, traffic, drug- and/or alcohol control etc. So we have 1 huge central database. Maybe some dev here ever thought about starting this?
Trapster is by far the best imo.
It deletes old posts that haven't been confirmed in a while along with ones that are not confirmed more than once. Play around with the settings and show your friends the program. The more people in your area.that use it, the more accurate it is. Not to mention its only a year and half or so old steming Back to my Windows mobile 6.1-6.5 days.

Trapster seems to be quite a good application, with a lot of users in the US
(I haven't tested it)...
But it seems that you will need a unlimited or huge data connexion subscrition, as Trapster will download maps all trip long.
To limit data connexion, the main page of Mobbyway doesn't show any maps.
There is a possibility to show maps in Mobbyway (livetracking they say) and to predownload maps in the cache (openstreetmap).
Data consumption is 500 ko/hour with main page (these are my accurate measures)
Data consumption is 600 ko/hour with livetracking and maps predownloaded in cache . (idem ;-)
I don't know consumption with livetracking and no maps predownloaded but of course it will be more than this values.
Trapster doesn't run as it should while in background, so its pretty useless.
For some reason it doesn't download new data while its in the background, so you are only alerted for the range it download every time you put the app in foreground.

I like the idea of Trapster or some other functional similar well-designed app.
Though I have been experiencing issues running Trapster (in New South Wales, Australia, usually a few hours north of Sydney) on my Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 running Android 2.2 Froyo.DTJP5. Using the older ver. of Trapster (from early Dec 2010) it seemed to work OK for the couple of trips I did, however after updating it to this newer ver. it rarely completely loads and pretty much freezes whilst apparently loading/generating the map & my location. Will research it more and try a few things to see if I can improve it.

[Game] Shift: one of the best WinMo puzzle games now on android device near you

Some of you might remember the free windows mobile game Shift. It was really easy to play, but extremely addictive.
I waited for an android port for more than a year, and finally when i didn't see it ported i decided to do it myself So, no matter if you spent long hours with this game, of if you never heard of it before, here's a chance to play it on your phone/tablet/ereader/microvave oven or other android device
The game mechanics and scoring system are identical to windows mobile version, however the graphics and coding were redone from scratch since i didn't have sources for the original shift anymore.
I don't have an android market account and it's not likely i'll be getting one any time soon, so grab it here:
http://slideme.org/en/application/shift

Or in the post attachment.
And some screenies:
One day, i'll have to make a youtube video of the game, but i didn't get around to this so far.
Initially, i developed it for myself, but now that i'm satisfied with the results i see no reason not to share it. After all we all love and use freeware apps
It's my first android app and i was learning java, android api and the engine i was using as i went, so it might not be exactly perfectly optimized. But it does work smoothly on a G1, and the graphics turned out rather nice. It also scales properly to other screen sizes (though graphics won't be as crisp of course): I tested it on a motorola milestone and the android emulator with a few other screen resolutions.
I don't really plan to develop it much further, since i'm rather satisfied with it. Sure, i have a few ideas on how to make it work even better an some tricks i learned along the way, but that would probably take a complete rewrite and right now i'm not really in the mood for that So the game is provided as-is, but i might try to fix any really serious bugs.
If you feel like buying me a beer (or helping me get an android market account), the donation button is right above my avatar
By the way, if you think about trying to write your own android game, don't forget to check out andengine. That's a really powerful, and yet easy to use 2D game engine.
I'm getting an Access Denied message when clicking on the link.
Yes, me too.
And I really like this game too. Was playing it while it's available for WM6.1 QVGA screen. It didn't work on my WVGA HD2 last time. So, happy that it's coming to Android..

Oops, sorry about that. It seems that the link worked for me only because i was logged into SlideMe. I'll fix that later, and meanwhile i uploaded the game as an attachment to the fist post.
[EDIT]
It turned out that the app wasn't visible publicly until it got approved by slideMe. The link should work now.
[/EDIT]
Very cool game! Thanks for sharing!
Nicely made game. Thanks!
great port! i'll try it later. thank you!
btw, you should really put this in the market, or it might get stolen.

Thanks! Pretty fun game!
The Link for the WM version its very old! i want to try in my tp2! the version WM, you can upload the wm too pls!??
nice game.... works great on MyTouch4G
Very cool interface. Enjoyable with a high chance of replay.
I second the other member's notion to place this into the market. Your current version is AOK for release.
Perhaps there's another reason why you wont?
this game is fantastic!!! it runs amazingly on my hero, and I love trying to get huge combos!! 5 stars!!!
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
EDIT : there seems to be a bug in the app. sometimes when I switch to another app via homescreen or long holding the home button, the gray bar underneath the notification bar that tells the name of the app doesn't go away. and you should put this on the market so we could get the updates.
!!!!!!!
If I'm not mistaken I remember this from my last WM phone (samsung omni) This is a fun game!
Excellent remake.
Makes me wonder though that what this game would be like if it had a mode with accelerometer enabled "physics". Tiles would fall freely to the tilted direction (only one direction at a time in tetris-like fashion) Angle of the tilt would off course relate to falling speed.
It would be the core mechanic with a little bit of action and accuracy.
I tested your game out and it is really good (never played the original), all I can say is make sure you put it on the market as XDA devs have had their apps uploaded to the market by someone else trying to make some quick $$
Cool thanks.
Thanks for the feedback, i'm glad it works on your phones and you like it
As for the accelerometer control, i thought about it, but i'm afraid it would be just something you try and disable, as it will get in the way of the gameplay instead of enhancing it. But if i ever get around to rewriting this game to properly support high-res screens i might try implementing something like that. For now i think gestures control is easy enough. And just in case you didn't notice, the gesture can be performed anywhere on the screen and doesn't have to be long - only the width of a single block is enough.

Yeah, i know the project website is down, but it's still easy to find. However i'm afraid it might not work well with VGA or higher res screen. At least the winMo version didn't work on a HTC Diamond. But i guess there's no hurt in trying.

Yeah, i'm aware of that a**hole stealing other people's work. But right now i don't feel like paying 25 bucks registration fee without even a potential way of getting the money back - google doesn't allow selling apps from my country (yet).
Hi
I remember Shift very well (played it on Ipaq h3970)
Unfortunately I can't run it on Samsung Spica (i5700)- FC right after starting, logcat attached.
Phone config:
-Samdroid 1.3.1(deodexed Eclair, info)
-kernel- Xmister's STD Eclair (info)
-graphic drivers- mixed files from other devices v3 (info, as one of developers I've tested those drivers on everything I could and there were no problems with other apps)

I'm afraid it might be a problem between the engine i used and your device. Could you try running the following app and one attached to this post?
http://www.appbrain.com/app/andengine-examples/org.anddev.andengine.examples
The one above is a demo of the engine's capabilities, and should be compiled against the latest engine version. The attached app is just some random quick test i was doing but it uses the same lib version as shift. So if one works and the other doesn't it will mean that compiling with newer engine version might fix the problem. It will take some time but it's possible. However if none of these work, then i won't really be able to do anyting about it

The one from AppBrain- always FC when starting ShapeModifiers and Irregular ShapeModifiers (both demo and benchmark):
Code:
W/dalvikvm( 8065): threadid=3: thread exiting with uncaught exception (group=0x4001b180)
Rest of tests works fine.
Attached apk- works fine
