Cases for the TG01 - TG01 Accessories

Hello, I thought I'd kick off this subforum by asking what cases people use for their TG01.
The reason is the TG01 (which I don't use for voice) has replaced many of the old functions of my Nokia N800, and as such has also inherited its cloth pouch. Of course, the TG01 is marginally smaller face-on and significantly thinner than the N800, so the pouch, while protective, is far too big.
I've been looking on line and the only cases which seem to be available are of the thick leather sort, or the hard rubber variety. I am looking for something like the case which comes with the HD2, that is, a simple leather sleeve which does not add to the bulk of the phone, doubles up as a screen wipe, doesn't block any of the ports and still allows the TG01 to sit comfortably in its cradle.
I have tried the HD2 case and while the fit is very snug, because the TG01 is a bit too long, it pokes out the top. And there is the psychological barrier of the HTC logo appearing on a case covering a Toshiba device.
Anyone have any suggestions? Perhaps a pouch for the Sony-Ericsson Satio would fit?

I have a black silicone case. And I love it because looks modern and it suits perfectly! Thickness only increases 0,3 mm . If you (as I can imagine) have a film to protect screen and camera, with the silicone case you can carry it on the pocket with no fear of scratching it!
Besides, the silicone rubber touch avoids risk of slipping (and drops)

OK options are limited, these 2 are ok

And a very protective pouch thats universal
uniea.com and look up Omniverse
Both are available on ebay with some searching, the hybrid case is ok, silicon case probably fits better with a screen protector on, but i expect there is some variation depending on the example you get, and the thickness of your screen protector. This case adds about 4mm thickness to your device.
The Omniverse pouch, the larger one, fits quite well despite its measurements, with the hybrid shell on the phone, it fits in snug lengthways, and the extra width of the pouch gives a little room to have the headphones plugged in while pouch is zipped up, depth is good even though it sounds too big, it fits very well. Its also very well padded, so screen is protected.

I am using this : http://www.pdair.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=10100000_600000_11000718 and be very happy!

Hey, InsertNameHere do you by any chance have a link for the silicone case? And do you know if they have other colours? Cheers.

I have opted for two different cases: the PDAir slim sleeve and also the Piel Frama iMagnum flip case.
Both are excellent for different situations.

If i could, i would, but am not allowed to post links at the moment, unless Admin do something about that, you will have to do a search on ebay for tg01 hybrid. Yes they have different colours, i only chose the yellow picture so you can see clearly what the case looks like! The seller is a bit of a chiseler though, black is more expensive than other colours

Cheers anyway, in the same boat myself with the posting privilages.

Okay, so after some deliberation I decided to go down the eBay "hybrid hard rubber case" route. The seller does gouge for the black case, but I decided I wanted a coloured one anyway, and went for the one in gold.
I was actually expecting to get something like a silicone case, but a bit firmer. Instead, this is actually a hard perspex case which has two halves, the outer aspect of which has been sprayed with a gold coloured soft touch coating.
The TG01 fits very snugly inside it, but as others have mentioned, you will still need some kind of screen protection to prevent the screen from being scratched as it is so exposed.
The two halves of the case clip in place with 4 clasps on the long sides of the case as shown.
On one long side of the case there are notches to allow you to prise the case apart.
The good thing is that the gap for the microUSB slot is large enough to allow full access to it.
The bad things are the top and bottom of the case gape slightly since there are no clasps at either of the short edges.
The quality of the finish is not great (see the roughness of the plastic as the edges).
Finally it also adds a frame to the screen which slightly gets in the way of pressing the corners (especially the start button in the upper left and the task manager in the upper right) and kinda defeats the purpose of having a flush screen to begin with. Overall though, it isn't bad for £5.

ahhh ... im sorry to say i had a SE X1 with the same type of clip-on hard case and because its unlucky stiffnes , it just broke to pieces from normal use ...

Nice review
I also add, that if you use a thick screen protector, like a 3m vikuiti, the gap at the top and bottom of phone will be bigger.
Sometimes the rubber coating flakes off as well
The clips are not the best quality, be very careful opening and closing because they chip like butter, if a corner comes off a clip, the case will be useless, luckily the seller does respond to complaints and send out replacements. I don't think i recommend this case to anyone reading this, because although its a cheap hard shell for your phone, the quality just isn't there.
Frankly, if it fails more than twice, put it down to experience and get a sillicone case, along with a screen protector and a pouch, your phone will be fairly well protected. Nothing to stop you harrassing the seller if they keep breaking on you though!

I went for Capdase instead. I purchased their casing (available in black or silver) and their slide-out pouch! They have flip-top also. Their prices are pretty good too. Just do a search for Toshiba TG01 on covicco dot com and you'll find what they offer for our good old TG01.

A pouch?
I highly recommend the pouch i mentioned earlier in thish thread, its well padded, has room to include stylus in zippered pouch on the front, and room inside for the headphone cable and phone

A bit smaller please

Its not as big as you think, its only just long enough, width wise there is about 1.5cm of space for something else in the main case area with the phone in there, and depth is perfect
All i did was recommend the best pouch i know of, you cannot get around the physical size of the device itself, you also did not mention that you specifically wanted a small pouch, just asked for a 'etui' which is not an english word, and is kinda generic
Your other choices are the ubiquitous leather pouches etcetera, and after that your on your own, the only pouch mentioned in this thread has been mentioned by me, there are quite a few choices in this thread for case options, but pouch options are few and far between, i know, because i looked high and low for a suitable pouch.

Got a decent leather slip case (the ones with a pull thing to get the 'phone out), made for the PSP Go, and available from the highstreet GAME store, under own brand 'GAMEware'. Cost £7.99 and marketed as PSP Go Essentials pack. Height of case a perfect fit, width slightly oversize and recessed which makes a great place to hold the stylus.
Caution, went back to store to get another one (bro has TG01 as well) and because they'd seen me use it for the 'phone first time I'd been, they'd increased the price to £14.99 (ie rip off). Went to other branch of same store and bought there for original price and last time checked price remains the same.
Couldn't see a link on their website and haven't yet figured out how to insert a camera shot as others seem to, so just have to go have a look.
cheers

[Q] Advice on Galaxy S case

I don't have any protection or case for my Galaxy right now and I really need to buy something. I just can't make my mind up. I'm posting the items I've spotted so far:
(I'm sorry I wanted to put the links but I'm new so not allowed, I'm just typing down the items by their names and if you copy paste it on google they'll pop up easily)
- Case-Mate Tough Case - Samsung Galaxy S - Black
- Case-Mate Barely There For Samsung Galaxy S - Black
- Krusell DONSö Leather Pouch
- Original Samsung Galaxy S i9000 Leather Pouch Case
-Advanced FlexiShield Skin For Samsung Galaxy S - Black
I really don't know what to do, get a pouch and invisibleshield? or a thin rubber thingy and a pouch? or just invisibleshield and a pouch on it?
Could you guys just advice me a bit, thanks a lot!
I'll be waiting for an answer mates.
I'd go for invisishield and a little care. The bulky cases just break the beautiful design of galaxy S.
Personally i like these cases , not alot of protection on top and bottom but something is better then nothing and i hate covering up phones with silicon cases but i think this cases adds to the look of the phone not detracts.

I use the Krusell DONSö Leather Pouch (and nothing else) and I am very happy with it. It fits perfectly and protects the device from any falls.
And it looks really cool also...
I use a combination of kickstand case at home and a leather pouch on the road.
Love my Case Mate Tough case. More expensive, but gives great protection. Comes with screen protector too.

These cases are great.. Until it rains heavily and your phone is destroyed...
Get one of these instead: http://www.h2oaudio.com/store/index.php/waterproof-armbands.html
I ordered the Case-Mate Barely There, will post a pic once it gets here.
IMO I think the invisi-shield is too thin and the glossy surface is a finger print magnet.
The Barely There is a good compromise and respects the original design.
These are best hands down imho for me

I looked at the seller, udamoa on Ebay. he seem to sell 2 cases, the kickstand one and one that looks like Kraken's. Can anybody tell me, who owns them, how they are? Like, in terms of drop protection, material, and feel?
Thanks!
Okay, now I vote for Toughcase for the following reasons:
Our phone has the same glass screen as the iPhone, and it's scratch resistant.(there is a video on youtube). Unless you walk around with a razor in your pocket, the screen won't have a problem with it. Also screen protectors add a layer of film on the display, therefore making it less bright/visible, etc. My recommendation: won't bother buying one.
Our SGS's serious problem is the screen toughness. (also video on youtube). If you drop it, you have a good change it will shatter! So let's find a solution on this one:
- full body covers like zagg for obvious reasons won't help(also had a zagg, and I don't like the touch of it)
- leather flipcases, other leater cases only help if you are lucky with the drop
- pouches are also a waste of money, because you have to take the phone out to use, call, etc.
I bet we should move towards the silicone case, or hardcase option. Best of both words are the toughcase from Casemate, a silicone internal cover, and an ABS plastic outer case.
These are usually also a bit thicker on the front, giving the display a very good protection, as well as shock absorbation from drops.
Check play.com, it has a 50% off sale(£15).

Yoobao TPU+PC Case Review

Hi guys, I just wanted to give my review on the case that I've finally settled on! It took me forever to finally decide on a case, but I finally made my choice and I couldn't be happier. I originally had the Silicone case from the T-Mobile store, but that case just wasn't to my liking.
Up first is the link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/YOOBAO-TPU-case-Skin-Cover-HTC-Sensation-4G-Z710e-/220837531137?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item336af14e01
Nice price for a high quality case for sure. Item took me 9 days to get from the time I ordered it, which isn't at all bad considering it ships from Hong Kong and I'm in California.
The breakdown: this is a lightweight case (AKA not a competitor to the Case Mate Tough and similar heavy-duty cases) that is made out of 2 materials. It is both TPU and Polycarbonate (plastic). The parts that are plastic are where the 2 wedge-shaped pieces on the back of the phone are (above and below the swoosh).
My review: my primary reason for getting a new case was because the T-Mobile gel case was too loose. It felt like a pair of baggy pants on a skinny kid (Take it from a skinny person that that feeling is really uncomfortable). First up is the packaging:
{

Nice packaging, comes with a screen protector and cloth inside (I haven't put the screen protector on yet so I'll report on that later). The most noticeable things about the packaging are the comical errors in grammar and spelling, but I couldn't care less about that when I like the product .
I read good things about TPU cases being much tighter than Silicone, and the Yoobao case is certainly a good example of that. Out of the box, it is much more resistant to flexing and takes a bit of an effort to actually put the phone into. BIG plus for me. It's very form fitting and tight on the phone. It's also a thin case, which was instantly noticeable because in the hand it feels more like a naked Sensation than the T-Mob case did. That's not to say it provides no protection, because the combination of TPU and PC makes it feel quite strong for a thin case. Also, let's be honest that most people looking for thin TPU cases aren't looking for the most hardcore in protection. I'm sure the Yoobao will do fine in minor drop situations.
The cutouts on this case are close to perfection.
The headphones jack is fine for the headphones I use. It's about the same size that the cutout on the T-Mob case is.
The cutouts on the top half. As you can see, Yoobao included cutouts for every place where they are needed. 2 things I really like here: the first, that the cutouts are perfectly placed (the mic holes are perfectly centered in each cutout, which is rare), the second, that there is a separate cutout for the camera and the flash. Most cases have one big hole for both the camera and the flash, and the fact that this has individual cutouts exudes quality.
Cutouts at the bottom. This is a pretty bad picture because the mic holes are better centered than the pic makes it look like. Again, nice that they have individual cutouts.
Terrible picture, I know, but I just wanted to show that even the bottom mic hole has a cutout (which like the others is perfectly aligned).
This is the ONLY thing I don't like about the case. While (looking at the cutout from this orientation) the left and right sides of the cutout provide plenty of space, the top part is just barely too thick.
As you can see from the bump, it's just a little too tight for the charger. It's still easy to get the charger in, it's just that it pushes the TPU up right there.
It's a very minor issue, and I'm sure you could easily take a knife to it to make it fit better. This is legitimately the only thing I would change about this case.
The looks:
The looks of this case were probably the main reason I chose it over others. I personally wanted a light case that preserves the looks of the naked Sensation as much as possible, and I don't think you can do any better than this case. I obviously went with the black model, but there is also a white model. The TPU is translucent, and in decent light the case is a dark smoked color (it's really only in low light that it looks completely black). Really sexy color, and it's awesome that you can see the htc logo on the back. The other main case I looked at was the Qubits one that is very popular, but I liked how the Yoobao allows you to see the actual swoosh and htc on the back, rather than an opaque black swoosh that merely imitates the phone. The plastic pieces are so well done that they look just like the phone underneath.
I thought that this picture demonstrated how smooth the transition is from PC to TPU. It's really only a transition that you can feel; you can't see it because it's so smooth.
Other things to note:
The TPU comes up over the lip around the phone like most cases do. It's thin, so when you place the phone face down the screen is just barely off the surface. I didn't include this as a negative thing because I don't have any personal experiences with other cases other than the T-Mob one (which definitely does provide a bigger lip), and I've also heard that TPU cases don't give as much a lip as Silicone cases do.
The power button is harder to press down, but I also didn't include this as a negative because I've heard the same about many TPU cases. The volume rocker also takes a little bit more effort. Both of them are covered by clear TPU that isn't smoked, so it's kinda cool that they are showing off the metal pieces on the phone.
It's not as grippy as a pure silicone case because it can slide around a bit on the plastic parts. I personally think it's grippy enough and enjoy how easy it is to slide in my pants.
Summary: this case is about as good as a lightweight case can get. If you aren't looking for hardcore protection, I absolutely recommend the Yoobao case. It looks great, feels great, adds minimal bulk, fits tightly, and has near-perfect cutouts. IMO no other case out there does a better job of preserving the Sensation's design, and no other case can match how well done the cutouts other than the USB cutout are. I might buy another one just to have an extra because I like it so much. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know.

Ahh just noticed the difference. The matte covers the top and the bottom where the Yoobao doesn't.
Does the screen protector cover the whole front glass? or just he visible screen?
Sorry to hijack your thread but I do have a white one for sale for weeks but one person asked about it and never followed through. The one I have was never used. I just put it on for testing purposes, but ended up not using it. The fs thread is in the marketplace here or you can PM me for details. I don't want to detract the thread by posting pics and such .

Great detailed review my friend!
can't link yet, but go to amazon.com and type in "HTC SENSATION 4G / SENSATION XE GEL SKIN CASE"
is this suppose to be the same case??
I just got these case myself last week. I love the fact that it fits inside my OEM HTC Leather case. I had to apply little shoe stretch on the sides. But the phone fits perfectly. I was considering the expensive Seidio case and holster...but the Yoobao TPU & Screensaver and the OEM leather case were a great deal at about $20 shipped total on ebay.

Not sure what you're talking about. The Yoobao case covers the top and bottom just like any other case (it wraps around the front at all sides, providing a lip around the whole phone just like most other cases). And I haven't tried the screen protector yet.
Great Review!
I actually was considering this case, but the Yoobao was a big turn off for me. Has anyone found a way to cover up/scratch it off?
I am sure Goof off would take it off.

I must add something, the screen protector that comes with this Yoobao cover fits the screen a 100% and with a little heat and dust free environment applies perfectly.

I must thanks the OP, this is an awesome purchase.

I know I said I was going to do an update when I installed the screen protector; obviously I put that off for a long time. Anyways I did install it and it's exactly like you describe. Applied incredibly easily, no bubbles, fits perfectly, and it even has a little bit of a cutout for the light sensor. Awesome screen protector to complement an equally awesome case.
Just wanted to give this a little bump to update and for others to see this review who haven't yet.

I've had past success with goo gone. The goo off is the more paint thinner smelling than the goo gone right? I recently took off the Aprolink logo from my hybrid case.
The goo gone is the one that smells like citrus. I use that stuff to take off adhesives from car finishes as well.

Spigen [Thin Fit] [Black] Premium Matte Finish Hard Case [Amazon]

This is my short take on this new case I just received today. I like it because it is thin. The cut outs are clean and centered. The back has a soft touch plastic feel so it helps with grip. Finger prints do show on the case (some people with dry hands will not have an issue. My hands are normally moist.) but can be easily wiped away.
Normally the hybrid cases with PC (polycarbonate) on the back and TPU on the sides that cover the buttons give them a mushy feeling when pressed. It is hard to tell if you pushed the button all the way down or not. So with the cut outs for the power and volume button, this problem is eliminated. The plastic which separates the two buttons help me to identify each button quickly. I also found the buttons were unintentionally pressed a lot when I didn't have the case. I don't have this issue anymore. I would recommend this case for anyone who wants protection against scratches. It won't protect the phone against high drops. There is no cushion or air pockets to protect the phone. But this is exactly what these thin cases are for, scratch protection and protection against small bumps. I bought it at Amazon. I ordered it around noon Pacific Time and it was shipped after two hours. I was pleased with the speedy handling.

Update...this sounds silly but the case seems to make the phone feel heavier to me. But the added weight feels good in the hand. The case by itself is not heavy. Not sure why I feel this way...
Update # 2: 24 hours later, I am still loving this case. The finger print scanner cut out is the perfect size. I have not had any issues unlocking my phone. I actually wanted a clear case but this black color is starting to grow on me. With the camera visor being glossy black and the case being flat black, it adds a stealth look along with providing some contrast.
Update # 3: The case's matte finish does not create too much friction when inserting the phone into your jean packet or pulling it out. This is a plus.

This is my short take on this new case I just received today. I like it because it is thin. The cut outs are clean and centered. The back has a soft touch plastic feel to it helps with grip. Finger prints do show on the case but can be easily wiped away.

Looks nice, I'm usually pretty impressed with Spigen cases. I ordered this one: http://www.spigen.com/products/nexus-6p-case-rugged-armor hopefully it gets here soon because I'm not a huge fan of the Ringke case I have now.

Seems many buyers on Amazon would disagree with you. Three main things I don't like about the Ringke:
1) I don't really like the feel of the case
2) Its a fingerprint magnet, unlike anything I've ever experienced.
3) The front edges are kind of sharp which can make it a little uncomfortable to hold against my ear while on the phone.
If only Otterbox made the Symmetry series for the Nexus 6p and all my future phones, I'd never have to shop around for cases again.
This case is pretty excellent - feels grippy & solid

Lol I was going to say that many buyers on Amazon would disagree with you about Ringke, but I guess you know that buyers go with the flow most of the time. All of what you said is true for the Rugged Armor, which are the reasons why I don't like it. And also it is sand magnet too. That's my real life feedback. I am sure the Amazon buyers will disagree

Ultimately I can just return it if I dont like it. The inconvenience of owning an unpopular phone and being unable to try a product hands on before purchase, but at least Amazon has a solid return policy.

I love it, except that the upper and lower machined extreme edges aren't protected from certain angles.
I've never been a big fan of cases, especially on beautiful devices like this one - but you just sold me on this case. Great pics!

I am not a fan of cases either and will probably remove it once the phone isn't new to me anymore (in 3 months?) But I can't wait for the super thin one that the others are chatting about from Huawei. I want to ensure my phone doesn't scratch considering the metal body. Good luck.

OP, a question to you: do you think the case will accomodate one of those thin metal plates attached to the back plate on the inside, to use with a magnetic car mount? Like this:
The plate should be very slim, only about 0,5-1mm in thickness. Do you think this will work? Any way you could test this out for me even, by sticking something of approx. that thickness in between the back and case?
Thanks in advance!

I have that same car mount. It works for me with no issues. I'm sure it will work out for you as well.
BTW...I do not notice the plate after the case is put on. The back is flat. The pictures taken have the plate inserted.

Haha, what a coincidence! I'm happy to hear you don't even notice the plate sitting there, and even happier to hear that the plate was actually in there in those pics, because I didn't notice it myself either

I'm really enjoying this case as well. I agree with all the OP'sthoughts especially about fixing the sensitive button presses. Overall very happy with the thiness, fit and soft touch. Also purchased thisNexus 6P Case, Monoy High Quality Ultra Thin Matte Black Hard case Cover for Huawei (Google) Nexus 6P 5.7" Devices (2015) (Black Hard Case) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0168B7RIM/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_5XZtwbS5G6308 which is also nice. Very thin but covers most of the visor and has a textured soft touch finish. I did end up using the spigen but may switch. The other case doesn't have an issue with fingerprints.

Without using any tool for measurement they seem to be identical in thinness. Only notable differences between the two would be the visor cover, soft touch finish, and the spigen has a piece that separates the volume and power buttons. Either of these things can be taken as a plus or minus depending on personally preference. If you're deciding between the two the Monoy case shipped and arrived faster.

There is a tiny lip so the glass does not contact the surface if placed glass side down. I think you need a screen protector if you're worried.

tetded leather case

hey, all...
posted this in another thread...but, received a lack of response.
am hoping a little more visibility might draw someone out.
if not for this specific case, then for another of their products.
looking like a case i'd like to buy, but would love any feed back at all...

many thanks...
cheers.
I have no experience with this brand and it doesn't seem to be common in the USA, but looking at their site, they actually have a flip case for the 6P with SLEEP FUNCTION! Other than the grip-of-death folio case from google, I could not find any flip cases with the rare-as-unicorns sleep function. I almost gave up until I came across your post. Seriously, I was to the point where I was thinking of gutting a flip case to insert a magnet into it. Thank you!
I just ordered this and I hope I get it before christmas (for the misses):

It's not cheap, but it's still cheaper than the folio case and seems much better looking. I'll update when I get it. I think the maker is in Hong Kong so it'll take at least a week.

Here's few pictures that someone else took from Tetded leather case (without flipcover). Apparently it feels quite good (not slippery at all).
I remember the g3 community have alot of people buying the case. Tetded makes cases for most phones so the reviews are all over the place.
I purchased a folio case for my Nexus 6 from this company and was impressed with the quality. I ultimately didn't use it much as I decided that the minimal bulk of the case added to the already overly bulky phone made carrying it in my pocket uncomfortable. Oh, and the back of the case was thick enough (leather over a plastic case mold) that it prevented wireless charging on the 6 to work.
Most curious of the feel of the leather. nothing worse then cheap plasticy leather
^^^...that's a great point.
needless to say...curiosity got the better of me and i ordered one.
when it gets here...i'll post a review.
as i mentioned...the apple case for the 6 is pretty nice. it's actually ALL leather.
feels great and the phone sits well inside of it.
this one is actually leather seemingly wrapped around a plastic shell?
so, we'll see.
i think it might be a little bulky/thick for my tastes...
but, i'm willing to give it a shot.
in the meantime...my adopted protective case arrives later today.

The one for the 6, which looks exactly like this model for the 6P, is basically a ultra thin case (think Spigen Thin-Fit) with a leather skin. The leather, at least on the one for my 6, was impressive and felt nice. Very well finished and detailed. The case fit well and snapped onto the phone with authority, and was a precise fit.

that's exactly my point.
it's a fantastic case with seemingly quality leather and, like you mentioned, fits like a glove.
doesn't add much bulk, if any, it's perfectly grippy, looks fantastic, and seems like it could last a while.
makes me hope the tetded is half as well made and worth it.
we'll see.

the premium flipcover cases have the nicer brown leather (multi tone).
I have the black slim back leather case from tetded for my 6p. It feels great in hand and is not plastic feeling, it feels like a natural leather wallet texture. I wish it was smooth leather though, but its as close as I can find to be like the apple leather cases. It took a few weeks to get to me though because its coming from Hong Kong. My wife likes it as well and had me order a white one for her, so its on the way too. The inside of the case has a microfiber insert to protect from rubbing the finish of the phone off.
Overall I like it and the phone is way less slippery with this case. Also I'm using it with the intelliarmor HD glass screen protector and both work great together.
Hope this helps.

Unfortunately I cannot say about a flip case, as I have the one that only covers the back.
I don't like how it doesn't completely cover the edges on the top and bottom. I've had phones crack in those exact areas.
I just received the Dijon II case. It looks good, the cut-outs are fine, fits well, and you can easily remove it from the case. It does have a magnet to sleep/wakeup the screen BUT there are no magnets to keep the screen closed. The cover is not very light so it doesn't open by itself that easily.
They do make a Dijon III case that has a lip in the middle to keep the cover closed BUT there are no speakers holes like on the Dijon II, which makes it not possible to talk on the phone with the cover closed. If the Dijon III had those holes, I would get that version.
Time to wrap it up and put in under the tree...
Thinking of ordering one with flip.
But I'll await your reviews.
My question would be, does the flip stay closed when it should or does the flip stay half open when left on a table?

Thinking of ordering one with the flip.
But I'll await your reviews.
My question would be, does the flip stay closed when you leave it on a table? Or is it like half open?
And does it stay open when you like it to, or does it self- close?
Mine stays closed and the lid lays completely flat. There is no magnetic clasp however so the lid will flop around when in use and I normally flop it around back while using the phone where it also lays flat. The power on/off is flawless. Extra bonus if you are in a trusted location because you can simply open it and swipe straight into the gui. I'd rate the quality as acceptable for the price. Doesn't feel cheap but you're not going to going to be wowed. I haven't had too many cases of this type but for what it's worth it is easily the least bulky of the lot.
Greatest weakness would be poor drop protection for a case of this kind. The ends have only modest protection and the cover may open when dipped exposing the screen since there is nothing keeping it closed.
Overall it is about what I expected and I'm happy with the purchase. It looks and feels nice, offers half decent protection even if it does lag behind similar cases, the power function is nice.

PHOTOS: The best cases available for the Mix. Added the Love Mei Powerful case!

I've gone through all of the threads on screen protectors for the mix and I have observed that the majority aren't happy with the screen protectors they've got. I've ordered almost every type of tempered glass protector available for this device but I'm waiting for them to arrive.
For those who already have some screen protector installed on your mix, could you please upload photos of the device with the screen protector installed.
This is so that it can help other buyers to narrow down to the better screen protectors available. If you are satisfied with the screen protector you have bought, it would also help if you post a link to where you've bought it. I would have done this myself if I had received all the protectors I ordered. Unfortunately I haven't received anything yet.
Some reports suggest that Xiaomi may have used two different suppliers for the digitizer, one of them being prone to getting scratches easily. Even if this was not the case, I have seen many badly scratched Gorilla glass displays so I don't want to take the chance.
Hoping that people who already have some form of screen protection can help other buyers!
I have also bought all the decent cases available on ebay including the Love Mei Performance case and will post a review as soon as I receive them.
UPDATE: The Love Mei Powerful Case. This is the most rugged, shock-proof, snow-proof, dust-proof, splash-proof, everything under the sun-proof (except submersion in water) case available for the Mix.
As you can see from the photo comparison with another regular shock-proof case, this one is a beast. It lives up to its name. Came in a phone-box style premium box and certainly lives up to its price-tag. The case is made up of a hard aluminium shell with rubber layers for shock absorption. It also has a built-in tempered glass protector, meaning you wont need another screen protector.
The manufacturer also claims that the case offers drop-protection from up to 1.8m (5.9 feet).
I wouldn't recommend this case for daily use, mainly due to the sheer size of the case and not because it completely changes the look of the Mix. But for those of you who require extreme protection, if you have a baby at home who thinks the Mix is a Frisbee or if your dog likes playing "catch" and you only have your phone in hand, this is your answer. Buy this case!!
As you can see, I'm not using this case and may use this only if I'm going on a holiday or any outdoor activity which demands more protection for the phone. Hence, I don't regret buying it.

And now, my favourite case among all the cases I have for the Mix. The 360 Shock proof Rubber case. (This case is sold under many names, the most common being 360 Shockproof. Just follow product images. Anyway there isn't any branding printed on the actual case.)
This looks like something which came straight from the phone manufacturer. Slim and feels premium. Doesn't look or feel cheap and I believe the rubber material offers decent protection from bumps. I don't know whether it can withstand drops though.
The case doesn't feel cheap like the Red Plastic rubber shock proof case I've posted earlier (See 2nd post). It also has a smaller lip above the screen compared to the Plastic case but has raised corners. Maybe the plastic case offers more protection due to the better lip surrounding the screen and also because it is rubber+plastic combo, meaning there are two materials to absorb shock compared to just rubber with this one. But the reason why this is my favourite case is because it offers a balance between looks and protection.
Hope this post has helped you decide which case to get for the Mix. All cases showcased here are available on ebay & Amazon.
Cheers!
I've received the full coverage screen protector and a case today and as promised I'm uploading photos here so that it may help you decide.
I haven't experienced any issues with touch functionality using this protector like some like some users have mentioned. But as the glass hovers over the screen due to the adhesive only around the frame, applying this screen protector makes it look as if the display has a lower contrast ratio. This is due to the gap between the actual display glass and the tempered glass protector. You lose the experience of a fully laminated display. This isn't very noticeable in a well lit room but noticeable whenever you view images or videos with dark scenes. The blacks look greyish.
Also this is a fingerprint magnet and the glass tends to attract some dust. I've tried re-applying the protector over three times and a speck of dust manages to get in under the glass every time. This isn't the first time I'm applying screen protectors and its definitely something to do with the coating on the glass which attracts dust, maybe due to static.
The case feels slightly cheap (maybe because it was cheap ) but looks like it can protect the phone well. The only gripe I have is that there is no cushioning on the back, like cases from Spigen. The rubber like material you see is more like a bumper attached to a plastic shell. The back of the phone touches the plastic shell as you see in the images. Comparable to those hard plastic cases you get. Don't know whether that helps in terms of protection but the case has a good lip around the screen as you can see.
For those wondering, I bought the red color because the other colors for this case looked too bland. The case is available in Gold, light blue, Grey and silver. I wish there was black but there isn't.
I have more cases coming in and will update this when I receive it. Till then I hope those willing to help can also upload photos of their cases and screen protectors.
Cheers!
Here's a couple pix of the PELOSI TPU/Sandstone finish case:
https://www.casefanatic.com/xiaomi/case-xiaomi-mi-mix-pelosi-quicksand-pattern-slim-matte-tpu-cover/
The cutouts for the mics/3.5mm jack/speaker grill/USB Port are precise & allow enough room for oversized headphone/USB plugs.
The volume rocker & power button are covered & are easy to identify by feel.
As for protection,it'll keep the backside free of scratches/etc,but,as for protection from drops/etc... YMMV,as this is a low profile case, adding minimal width & thickness to the overall dimensions.
It works for me,the main reason I even bother with a case for this phone is the slippery grip.

Interesting bumper, but would this protect the device? I'd imagine it would just ripple the impact into the ceramic and it would probably still shatter, unless there's a good amount of padding on the inside of the frame.
I prefer the minimal amount of case / bumper on a phone. If it wasn't as slippery ide go naked, but the TPU gives you more hand confidence. Though that amorkingcase looks pretty sweet, if it was not as "sharp and shaped" looking

It doesn't affect pocketability that much actually. It just feels like a big phone. The overall size would be similar or slightly wider than the Xperia Z Ultra. But it would still look weird with formal\office wear though if that matters.
The main issue is with daily use. You wouldn't be able to use the phone with one hand anymore.
This case is best for someone who needs serious drop\splash resistance.
There is a similar case which is smaller. Its the imatch case which looks cool in my opinion but the case is hard to find on ebay. You can get it on aliexpress or amazon though.
I liked the Gold and Black variant of this case but I doubt whether it would cause issues when using a wireless charger. Hence, I haven't bought this yet.
iMatch Metal Silicone Shockproof case
If offers a similar level of protection as the Love Mei case but it is smaller. It even has a metal kickstand.
I have to agree that the 360 Shock proof Rubber case listed by the OP is the best case so far. It feels nice and offers a decent drop protection without too much bulk. It looks like it was meant to come with the phone. The matte color looks stealthy. The protection covers all angle of the phone and even a 1 mm lip to protect screen. I have dropped it 3-4 feet onto hardwood floor and sustained no damage. The extra bumps at the corner really provides a nice cushion. I highly recommend it.
