Hi guys,
Is there a way to get the HD2 as a drive/unit in Mac OS as in Windows?
Thank you!
hi,
take a look to SyncMate, it works great, with the Expert Edition you can mount your mobile device as a drive / unit.
it works very well with my hd2,
have a nice day,
roberto
There it was - you're right. Thanks! I did already try that program but didn't see the mount feature...
I'm using Missing Sync for Windows Mobile and i'm very satisfied. It works perfectly.

Just plug it straight in and select the 'Disk Drive' option. You can only access the SD_RAM card, but then you can move things to main storage after ejecting the device.

Hi guys,
I don't have a card reader, so I would like to know if I can copy files from my PC and paste them into my mini-SD, because I can't do that with ActiveSync !!
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
Search for a program called WM5 Storage and install that on your device. It makes the computer think it's interfacing with a SD reader so that you can copy back and forth like you can with activesync

Thank you so much Urthwhyte !!!! Cheers to you !
AM I right in assuming that the program worked for you? Good luck with copying over with whatever it was you needed to, and a belated welcome to the forums!

Yes! But a large file ( aprox. 900MB ) gave me a redundance error. I'll try again today.
By the way, I think that this software came already bundled in the latest Ax3l ROM !!! eventhough, thanks for your kindness words and support !

Well... my previous comment refered working in windows XP. Unfortunately, I'm getting to even a more solid conclusion that Windows Vista is really a pain. There's a lot complicated things ( or I'm a really hass *ole ); specially in recognizing my miniSD card of P3600, the P3600 itself. I had problems installing Windows Mobile Device Center in vista too. GRRR. Even my brand new external hard drive Lacie 500GB USB 2.0 is asked to install drivers. Even if install them... every time I logon into Vista it asks for drivers... !! I'm starting being tired of Vista issues. I will make a dual boot and that's the end of story.
Sorry about this last comment. But I needed to ...
Hi all,
I am looking for some help in configuring my Ubuntu Linux 7.10 system to access my HTC Touch.
When in WinXP I have a "Mobile Device" icon in "My Computer" from which I can access the storage area of my Touch. I want to find out how to do the same thing in Ubuntu so that I can copy new files onto and off of my Touch.
I am not interested in syncing anything with my device such as email, contacts, tasks etc. I just want to copy files to and from my pda!
Once I can do that, I will finally move over to Linux completely.
Any help would be very much appreciated as I've been searching for a solution for about a week now and found very litle helpful info.
Thanx!
Well, you can try WM5torage:
http://www.pocketpcfreeware.com/en/index.php?soft=1543
It turns your PDA into a mass storage device, so it'll be seen on ubuntu (or macOS, or Windows, or any other OS supporting USB storage) as a pendrive when connected. The downside is that way you can gain access only to the storage card, not the phone's main memory.
Take a look at this and maybe after that you can enjoy your freedom, I also considering going back to kubuntu.

Synce + gnome-syncefs + FUR for XMMS access. Screw iTunes, xmms ftw!

Perfect instructions, though haven't figured out the msync tool. Well documented too.
Thanks everyone, I will try the links that you posted!

Do not bother yourself with registration, just download it from here:

Thank you for giving me an idea WM5torage is WORKING for me.
Does anyone know of such a thing? My mobiler and my XV6700 are one of the only things keeping me from nuking my windows drive and just going 100% linux. I have yet to get it running and was wondering if there was some equivalent.
If such a thing could be done, I would gladly buy it
I just found this through Google...
http://www.pcs.uk.com/nsm/remote_control.htm
It's a cross-platform (PC, Mac, Linux) app that includes PPC support. I just downloaded it, haven't tried it out though... too late, and am moving tomorrow, so it'll be a few days before I can get to it.
I'm using without problem MyMobiler (and MyExplorer) in linux using Wine, and the pocketpc connected to my wifi.

See when I launch wine it only comes up with a blank space where the icon would be, and I can't modify any of the settings. This is on ubuntu.

I still haven't been able to transfer files between linux and mexplorer, neither using drag&drop nor copy&paste. Does it work for you?

The drag&drop or copy&paste dos not function from a nautilus window to the mexplorer window: you have to use the two panel in mexplorer.
I tried MyMobileR 1.23 with wine.
The program installed fine under wine - but it is not able to connect to my phone. (Using "Connect to IP")
The program works fine under Windows though...

Have you started it manually in the phone?
I located the application under "Programs" - and I've started it... Though - is it supposed to look close to the Windows application...?
Like with options of "Connect" and "Connect IP" ?
(Though, I'm unable to use the Connect IP function on the phone - since it does not display my keyboard...)

Runs great here too on a Ubuntu 8.10 laptop!
Created CAB for phone install.
I did install in wine too, but I'm not sure how well it worked out.
I eventually went and downloaded the ZIP file from MyMoblier website, and that is what I'm using now. Running MyMobiler.exe and MExplorer.exe in wine are working great.
Only 2 problems I have are... MyMobiler complains about tray icons to debug output. And MyMobiler will not install the software "to" the phone. I guess this was supposed to be done during ActiveSync during the initial installation to the PC.
So to fix problem #2 I created a cab for the files on the phone that MyMobiler needs. I could not get an attachment to post in this reply, so I created a new thread (thread #725114) that has the CAB file attached

Here are the steps i used 2 make MyMobiler work thru usb on ubuntu maverick using WINE.
Download MyMobiler V1.25....Unzip & copy the folder onto ur desktop or any location on ur ubuntu partition..open d folder, ryt click the MyMobiler.exe and select properties...Got to d "Permissions" tab n tick the execute box, then close...
Now run MyMobiler from the start menu on your phone & click connect...it should close but no worries as its working in d background..Connect your phone to your pc, ur network should report Auto eth3 connected...
Now right-click the MyMobiler.exe on ur pc n select "open with wine....". Notice the MyMobiler icon appear in ur taskbar above, right-click dat and select connect ip, click connect in d window dat appears n it should close.
Right-click the MyMobiler icon again n select "Open Mobiler"......Voila!!
Subsequent connections should auto-connect when u just run MyMobiler from your pc..
Hope this helps those out there...
Hi, does anyone know if its possible to connect to Windows Mobile device from a PC WITHOUT installing Active sync?
I would like to connect to my HTC Diamond and although My Mobiler is very good, I would like to know if its possible without using Activesync?
Thanks in advance.
as long as u want a software for file transfer, u need softick card export (but it's not free) or wm5torage (it's free but it doesnt work on my device)
gud luck
thanks for the reply, it was more around an App that lets you control the device. Sorry I didn't make that clear in my first post.
Something with the functionality of http://www.mtux.com/ but without active sync would be good. I doubt it exists, as all my searches have resulted in nothing.
Regards
okay, prime example of RTFM... MyMobileR supports this already.
Hello All,
I recently bought my first smartphone here in Beijing. It's a dopod D805; I hope to upload media to it from my Vista-loaded PC.
The problem is Vista doesn't seem to recognize the device. I downloaded Windows Mobile Center (sorry if I've got the name wrong) but it doesn't seem to do anything. The CD that came with the device doesn't work (it keeps telling me to install Flash 8.0, which seems to imply the software on the disc was designed for pre-Vista systems).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Update:
The phone seems simply not to work on Vista. I am now dual-booting XP alongside Vista, and have had much more success using XP and Activesync.
A new newbie question:
I cannot copy files (music, PDFs) from my PC's HDD to the phone's drive. Each time I try I am told there is not enough free space on the drive. This is absurd, as there is nothing on the drive other than what came on it, and the files I'm trying to copy are quite small. What gives?

Welcome to the forum
Have a look in the Wiki here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Love
Hope it helps,
Thanks for the response.
I checked that page before posting, but it doesn't seem to have much beyond the specs for my model.
All I want to do is install Pleco, and upload some MP3s/PDFs. When I plug the device in, I get the "bing bong" sound, but no new HD appears in My Computer. Since I'm running Vista, I can't use the bundled Activesync software.
Help?
i dont know if this will help but i cant sync my phone with xp unless i set my firewall to allow all.
if you go to my computer and look at your drives, does it not show you phone there as F: or whatever?
Right, it doesn't show a new drive. Note that I'm running Vista, not XP. I'm in the process of getting a dual-boot setup going, but I'm not there yet. Very frustrating.
