Hi, does anyone know if its possible to connect to Windows Mobile device from a PC WITHOUT installing Active sync?
I would like to connect to my HTC Diamond and although My Mobiler is very good, I would like to know if its possible without using Activesync?
Thanks in advance.
as long as u want a software for file transfer, u need softick card export (but it's not free) or wm5torage (it's free but it doesnt work on my device)
gud luck
thanks for the reply, it was more around an App that lets you control the device. Sorry I didn't make that clear in my first post.
Something with the functionality of http://www.mtux.com/ but without active sync would be good. I doubt it exists, as all my searches have resulted in nothing.
Regards
okay, prime example of RTFM... MyMobileR supports this already.

Hello,
is there a possibility to exchange some files between my Orbit 2 and my Macbook (OS X 10.4)? I tried to use a computer-to-computer network but couldn't get it working. So can anyone help me please? Unfortunately I'm new to Apple and Windows Mobile. So please be very precise when you describe what I have to do (think about a DAU² ).
Ah yes: I don't want to synchronise anything (like adresses or so), just wanna exchange some music/videoclips via wifi (hope this is faster than bluetooth where I only get ~100kb/s). Thank you very much!
Hi, I have just started to use SyncMate which is free to sync my iTunes music library on my Mac with my TyTN II. It works really well but I have been using a USB rather than WiFi connection. The program does support WiFi though.
You can download the software from
http://blog.eltima.com/2008/01/sync-your-mac-and-a-smartphone-with-syncmate.html
Although this is sync software it should also be able to do what you want as you can Sync a folder on your Mac with a folder on your phone which will enable you to transfer files to and fro.
Good luck and be interested to hear if the WiFi sync works!
if boths were connected to the wifi router it would be a matter of setting up normal filesharing like between 2 computers
if otherwise one would have to do it as adhoc network
but i dont know how these things are handled on macs
on pc's it the pc sharing would have to be running the server service
and have the pda as a user with reading and writing rights
And BT ? or MissingSync
I have an old iMac and I made some ringtones. I sent them by BT with no problem. I dropped Syncmate cause I got some issues with the calendars and the contacts. MissingSync is perfect but not free. You can install whatever but you need a cable. Will try to check the WiFi
Yes, with bluetooth I managed to send some files. But speed was not that fantastic (~100kb/s). So I'll try to get it working with Wifi. Maybe speed there is better. I got my device recognized by the Macbook and an IP was sent to my phone but I don't know how to access to files. Unfortunately I have no time for the next two weeks to test it any further. Please post your efforts if you have success. Thanks!
So, I already got what I want (even better). I found the freeware MochaSoft FTP-Server. This software has to be installed on your PDA. It youses the FTP-Protokoll. Therefore it lets your PDA act as an FTP-Server. All you need then is an Internet Browser, which has an FTP-Client (for example Internet Explorer or you use the fireftp-extension for Firefox). Now you can access your PDA and exchange files via Wifi. Speed is much better than Bluetooth (~700kb/s read and 680kb/s write). The good thing is, that you aren't limited to the platform anymore. (I don't know if the standard Linux browser has an ftp-client, but my beloved Firefox has a Linux-Version too.)
P.S. @linux-users: Please don't kill me for my last sentence. I believe that linux is able to handle these things out of the box. It's more for us windows users to know that it's possible.
Hey guys.
How do I install 6.5 on my i780? Guide, anyone?
Few other questions:
-Is it stable enough to use?
-What will happens to my files and programmes?
-Is it fully supported by my phone?
Thanks
You can find how to flash on this forum in i780's threads, basically you need an xp pc, mirage, modem drivers and activesync.
-It's stable except for a mouse bug (when you move the cursor a little square appears on the screen)
-Flashing the device you'll lose everything (except for the files stored in the micosd card) but you can backup sms, calls, contacts etc (no files and no installed programs) with a software called pimbackup
-Yeah but it has the mouse bug (for me it's terrible, but maybe you can live with it)
Ah I see. I'll go look for the stuff and give it a try.
Also.. I heard something about bricking your device? Does this occur often?
Mouse bug shouldn't annoy me that much, since I use the D-pad function.
Thanks for the info
EDIT: I'm using Windows 7, but I can also switch to XP. I have the Activesync program for Windows 7, so would it work?
thanks too
The flashing program (mirage) only works under xp (there are some ways to use it on vista but i suggest you to use xp, i flash from a virtual machine under win7 x64 without problems).
Bricking the device is possible, someone bricked his device and some others people didn't. I hope you're not in the 1st group. This doesn't happens really often but the risk of bricking exists.

Not sure any an app to just turn the phone display into a second or remote display, but there are application to use your phone to remote control your PC, which will display the PC screen as well as allow you to manipulate it remotely. LogMeIn

ahhh, interesting
zoneos.com
also see: innobec sidewindow
Innobec SideWindow requires some very old version of ActiveSync (not working with new one or with device center) which works only with WM5 I remember I was using it on my old PDA, now I can't use it on Touch HD and I miss it very much
no as of now there arent any that work?
ZoneScreen works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8G82A7KKtY
Moved as not software release.
I tried out Innobec SideWindow a few months ago on my last phone. It worked just fine with my htc hermes (WM 6.1, qvga) using activesync 4.5.

googd suggestion.
Hi and thanks for tip. i have already seen this, but its browsing the wrong way.. I want to browse the COMPUTER, not my phone
The next best thing I can think of is if you purchase an application from the Resco Software company. Resco Explorer will allow you to map your network drive on your device. It includes a host of other features that the stock explorer doesn't which will make file management much easier. I highly recommend it to everyone.

i got the soultion..
the good old Total commander finally worked, and now i can browse my server.. nice. thanks for all help guys.
Hey there,
I am trying to connect my phone (HD2) via remotedesktop to my Vista computer.
Since I own the home premium version I had to apply a hack thats floating around the net (which works pretty good if I try to connect from another desktop). Now i'm trying to change the way winmo identifies itself to make Vista accept my HD2's request due to the missing option to allow any windows version to connect.
Is there a way to do this?
I don't know how to explain it better...
Thx in advance!
