I just recently returned my HTC touch pro due to a malfunctioning keyboard, and they're sending me a free replacement of an HTC touchpro2. I had NFSAN's latest ROM on the old HTC touch pro, and I loved it. Since I'm switching to the HTC TP2, I was wonding what the best ROM was to flash. I will do the hardSPL the day I get it, and I was looking to have the best most updated/efficient HTC TP2 ROM ready to flash it once it gets here in a day or 2. I've looked through a few pages here on the CDMA ROM thread, but I don't see any clear evidence of one as great as NFSAN's for the TP. Any help in picking out the best ROM would be great.
Not again...
There is no such "best ROM"
What is best for me could not be for you
Test several till you get your "best ROM" and share it with us!
do you have any suggestions for ROMs to try? I must be missing something, but I have the CDMA sprint touch pro2, but in this thread I'm not seeing many custom ROMs available..
Mighty Rom and Energy rom always come up in the discussion of best roms...there is one other that is slipping my mind.

Sorry for simple question, newbie here. Is there a concensus on the best ROM to update the TyTN II (US Version). I am having trouble deciphering all the threads. Is the HTC "factory" ROM best option? Thanks for any advice offered.

It all depends on what you are looking for. There are tons of ROMs for that device. Dutty's Touchflo is really good if you want that type of interface. The problem with the original ROM is it isn't optimized very well, could be faster and there are others out there that are. You should be lucky you dont have the Tilt, that ROM from AT&T is the slowest I have had on the device. I am looking at one that is fast and comes with as little as possible, but still allows for lots to be added, for instance I like Dutty's Touchflo but I would like to have a clean one with nothing but the basics then add the stuff myself that I want. (touchflo so far doesn't have a cab installer).
I found about 5 more ROMs that I wanna try out before I decide on just settling for one (for now).
Tilt
The TyTN II is the Tilt, isn't it? I have the Tilt.
The TyTN II and the Tilt/8925 are variants of the HTC Kaiser. Different models, but very similar.
TYTN II have the front camera, tilt doesn't.
That's the only noticeable difference (aside from different coloured keyboard).
Another difference is the way the radio is implemented into the Tilt on the latest ROM. The Tilt Radio does not work with the TyTN II ROM, but the Tilt ROM works with the TyTN II Radio. Not to confuse you or anything.

Don't worry about the Tilt/TyTN II differences. Just read through the discussion thread for each ROM releases and decide which one fits you better. I went through HelmiC's BigStorage, Kyphur's XDA-Live 1.0, and now I have finally settled with Dutty's Hybrid No.4 Lite version. I ditched Helmi's because it was outdated. XDA-Live was very problematic for me but ran awesome. No.4 Lite has been great so far with no problems. *knock on wood* So, it's pretty much a trail-and-error kind of deal. Try and decide on which one to keep.
another newbie with the same question. Flashing is a pain when you first start, but you gotta get use to it. Some of us flash our phones twice a week. Play around with your stock phone and figure what apps you like. Then find a rom that seems close to it. Then flash it. Otherwise, if you are afraid to flash, stick with the stock.
After flashing half a dozen roms I have settled on the latest ATT Tilt rom without the customizations and the device is overall more stable and usable than ever, plus no need to CID unlock...bonus.

Thanks. I just called AT&T and told them I was going to Europe and that I needed my phone unlocked. They sent code in an hour, so it's unlocked anyway!

CID Unlock and Sim Unlock are 2 different things
Back on topic:
If you're after the Touch interface, go with Dutty's Touch Rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=344351
If you want something that's not too far removed from the stock HTC, but with some bugs fixed and other improvements, go with Sleuth:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343867
I'm currently running Dutty's Hybrid Test Final RTM, from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=341879
It's the best mix of speed, apps, and stability I've found.
If you want a starting point, try that. But be warned: rom flashing is an addictive pursuit. Once you start, there'll always be that nagging feeling that the next rom is better, or that someone else's rom has features you need.
Good luck!
You should really refer to the Wiki first before you do any flashing.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Kaiser
I would highly recommend doing a CID unlock & Flash and ROM on your phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334679
If you have a TyTN II I would suggest using Dutty's ToucFlo Final ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=344351
If you have a At&t Tilt I would suggest using Dutty's TouchFlo Tilt Beta ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=345385
Hope this helps.
English verison Rom HTC tilt HTC TyTn 11
Hello, I'm working in Russia, i bught the above here in msocw, but the rm is Russian version, Where can i ger an English (european) rom version?
I would really be greatful for some assistance..
Thank you
Just remember, when CID unlocking your device to flash cooked roms, there will be more of a process reverting to an ATT rom, if the need arises i.e. return, or warranty issues.
By starting off with an official ATT rom, there is no need to use HardSPL and like I previously mentioned, restarting before ATT custoimizations initiate leaves you with a speedy, reliable, full featured rom that is a lot better than the fully bloated, initial ATT release (radio is worlds better in the new one)
Then, you can always CID unlock and flash again later to a cooked rom if you wish. This could be considered a baby step to customizing and is a safe way to go.
My biggest gripe with a lot of the cooked roms, especially ones based on the HTC factory build is that they are not oiptimized for the tilt and have superflous features that I don't need/want.
Just my 2 pennies.
Maybe we need a upgrade guide like MrVanx made for the hermes.

How does the cube work on Gullum's ROM...I have no complaints with Dutty's TouchFLO Tilt BETA
I do not think Gullum includes the cube. Maybe someone that actually runs it can chime in.
Hi Guys,
I'm new to the forum, but I was reading alot in the past 7 months, since i bought my Touch Pro (T7272)...
I had a "system crash" last night and had to HARD Reset this morning..
Now I'm planning to install a WM6.5 ROM, but I don't know wich one is for my system ... VGA, QVGA, etc ...
What's the coolest one and MOST STABLE ?
Is it cooked for specific system ? like Diamond, Touch Pro, etc ... or any will work on every htc phone without problems ?
Thanks for all the help
Wazzie
do you have the touch pro or touch pro 2, are you gsm or cdma, and do you speak english.
if you have a touch pro i highly recommend you check out energyrom, i used mighty rom for a while but if you are a fan of touch flo 3d and you dont want to search for a new version of touch flo then go with energyrom. energyrom is a 6.5 build and there is several versions so google search touch and gsm or cdma, whichever you are.
It would appear that you have a gsm raphael (from the wiki), so you will need to flash the gsm hard spl, then the gsm rom of your choice.
As you dont seem to know that the roms are device specific i'd highly suggest you dont flash anything for another week or so until you've had a thorough read of exactly what to do (seriously, spend a few days reading everything about what a rom is, to how to flash it, and what you need to do before hand).
Remember - noone can tell you which rom is best to flash, as for the "coolest" or "most stable" well it largly comes down to preference and usage. Presumably you mean cool to include touch flow with everything looking pretty, but a device without all this running i likely to be more stable!
If you get stuck on any part of the flash, make sure you've read the appropriate guide and then make a new post explaining what you have done, what you have read, and why you are stuck.
Good luck!
This is your Bible for first time ROM flashing, I highly suggest you read this as it tells your all you will need to know.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448008
As for which ROM is better or not, it is all personal preference. Do your research in the ROM section and make your decision from what you have learned.
wingman said it best. Read, read, and then read some more. closing thread.
So i purchased my tilt and it came with the AT&T Win Mo 6 on it, I had a few problems with it and AT&T replaced my phone with one that has Win Mo 6.1, with the new one i am noticing some program compatibility issues and various other ANOYING glitches. Will the TyTAN II Rom from HTC's support site install on my phone with out a problem, is it better, and what are the differences between HTC's ROM and AT&T's? Also does anyone know how to speed up the screen switch time when i open and close it?
Well unfortunately i havent much experience with AT&T, but the manufacturers roms(HTC) will always be better than a Network branded rom. You should be able to flash it, ive flashed the original rom that my HTC TyTN II originally shipped with, saying that i did install HardSPL before i flashed anything, currently im running winmo 6.5 by TPC, Read the rom development stickies for more help, sorry if i havent helped much, im sure someone who knows will help you, by the way you shouldnt have posted this in the rom development section, it should be in the discussions section.
srry i miss posted ill repost. ty for that tid bit
There is a reason why people come to the forums. We all know that the ATT Roms are over bloated and just plain suck. Thanks to the wonderful chefs here, the Tilt has seen greater roms and functionality. Try flashing some new roms. PDA corner is fairly fast and fun. Experiment and see what fits you best.
I have always used htc devices on sprint and have been accustomed to using the great roms from this site. Well after visiting a Sprint store today I was about to make the switch to the new Samsung Intrepid over the TP2 until a little light bulb went off in my head that I might not be able to put custom roms on it which would be unacceptable which leads to my question: Will custom roms be available on xda forums for the intrepid? I do not think I could live with Sprints bloatware on the phone.
TIA
hey yea I was wondering the same thing my brother has the phone and its pretty nice was thinking of switching to an intrepid once my mogul dies (sooner rather than later). I have the $30 SERO plan so my options are limited. Will there be a forum for intrepid and/or roms for it on xda?

Pretty sure I see some Palm sections.
Anyways, I have the Intrepid and I love it. SPB Mobile Shell is incredible on this phone. Plus you can customize the Titanium screen with some free programs from the Marketplace. Not to mention, the RAM on this phone allows for incredible speed even with the Sprint installed programs.
Those Palm and Xperia on this site are because they are built by HTC

Really? That's crazy, I typically like HTC devices but was not pleased with the Treo Pro.
I would def donate to an Intrepid custom rom.

Gotta say the 6.5 after some modification from the WM Marketplace isn't bad.
it seems kind of weak so far...

You have text suggestion on?
Nope - no text suggestion or capitalization...
I've even done the newest rom update, complete wipe, and then turned it all off before syncing any of my data.
Still weak. Girlfriend's tp is still flawless with energyrom compared to my phone in regards to typing.
@nutrapi:
The slow text input has been fixed! There is an upgrade tool which installs a new, much cleaner WinMo 6.5 (I'd suspect so, since the file is over 200MB) on the phone.
Also, I'd like to mention, if it hasn't been mentioned before, that the Intrepid now has a Flash Utility, wich might be able to be used in some way to extract and/or insert custom ROM's to it. Would love to see a kitchen for it sometime, it'd make this phone so much better!
I receive my replacement TP2 tomorrow for Verizon's network. Just wondering what the Verizon TP2 users feel is the best/stable rom. I know everyone's opinion is different, but I'll go with the majority for my TP2. Thanks in advance for your comments.
just be sure not to use one from the GSM forum (this one)
Use the Rhodium CDMA section
I'm also interested in this.
I want to try a rom, but only one that is stable as if it came officially and fast smooth UI too of course. But I've no idea which one would fit the bill. Same I think as the OP is looking for.
It'd be nice to have a stock 6.5 os rom to try and then it'd be neat to have another with added UI manilla or whatever that is or whatever HTC has done to their UI. Also a rom with the Sense UI on it would rock. I'd even like to try that.
I've been using SSK 3.0 for the past 3 or 4 days, and it's fast, reliable, has sense ui, and hasn't had a single problem so far.
I'd reccommend it on the Verizon tp2.
Just make sure you get the Verizon keyboard fix cab, also.
Does the SSK have the MMS issue like the Juicy rom??
Well, I'm using mine on Sprint, and I've no issues in or out with mms.
I actually just got one right after I read that lol

Im using SSK 3.0. He is making an update to his rom for this weekend. It has been working great. He has added some new apps and utilities to the WinMo 6.5 Rom. I like it and will probably stick with his roms. Ive used them through the TP and TP2.
I use both Mighty Roms and Energy Roms and they both work great.

I agree... the SSK roms are great and he supports them very well through his website...
www.sskusers.net
I've had his ROMs way back on my verizon xv6800... my current TP... and I'll use his ROMs on my new TP2 that FexEx says should arrive in the mail tomorrow
what about roms that just work? no need to install anything extra to make it work?
Might ROM for me!
Energy Leo... the best
Calk's Kitchen works without anything additional installed and gives you the option to pick from 5 builds, and it's a KITCHEN!
I seem to hear a lot of good of SSK ROM's. Does SSK ROM fix anything on the TP2? What are the known issues with it so far? SSK website doesn't list issues, just what is included. I would be interested in knowing if any of the usb modem or internet sharing problems have been fixed. I know, I have been through this in another thread, I'm just a little strapped for cash when it comes to having to buy wifi hardware. I'd rather have the usb method working if possible.
I'm no newb to WM. but I am a newb to flashing. I didn't even flash my Q9M ... afraid of bricking the dumb thing with all the horror stories I heard.
One last here, I read about flashing via memory card. Is that possible with this? Thanks
