Hello devs! I need to tax your brains for some help with getting google sync working .. Just a bit of background: I've been making a rom for a few weeks, originally just to see if I could do it but now it's running pretty decently. It's nearing a completed state but sync is now my main sticking point. I built it from AOSP source, using the Eclair branch after the 2.1 code drop, then I added google apps from the milestone dump Maxisma posted in December.
So I can sign into Google OK, Market works, but sync is broken. It just doesn't happen, I don't get any errors, looks like it just doesn't even start. adb logcat doesn't give me much, but here it is:
Code:
I/ActivityManager( 71): Starting activity: Intent { act=android.settings.ACCOUNT_SYNC_SETTINGS cmp=com.android.providers.subscribedfeeds/com.android.settings.
AccountSyncSettings (has extras) }
V/SyncSettings( 71): Got account: Account {[email protected], type=com.google}
D/SyncSettings( 71): looking for sync adapters that match account Account {[email protected], type=com.google}
D/SyncSettings( 71): looking for sync adapters that match account Account {[email protected], type=com.google}
D/SyncSettings( 71): looking for sync adapters that match account Account {[email protected], type=com.google}
I/ActivityManager( 71): Displayed activity com.android.providers.subscribedfeeds/com.android.settings.AccountSyncSettings: 479 ms (total 479 ms)
Is there a service not running somewhere?
Update: I've just noticed in Dev Tools, there is a Sync Checker. If I sync from there I can get my calander and contacts. Google Mail still does not sync then. So this is looking like a background service thing. Any thoughts welcomed.
Also noticed that Exchange sync works fine, must be a Google service ...
Update: Problem fixed ... sync was disabled in the build.prop ...

As per title anyone aware of a way to link google calendar to your ppc,
either pocketbrezze or your standard pim etc
ta
I have seen readers, but these do not sync with the internal calendar, which I assume you want to do (as I do too).
I am really surprised there is no simple way to sync an ical profile with either Outlook or Pocket Outlook.
I know you can sync with a public profile on your desktop, but I doubt everyone wants to make their calendars public, and still doesn't help for people on the move.
An alternative would be to stop using Google Calendar for now until more solutions are available, and set-up a Live Mail2Web account, and simply use their Outlook Web Access for your calendar needs, and put the sync profile in your Activesync.
http://live.mail2web.com
It's the only good all round solution to online contacts backup, calendar sync, and push mail, and all from one provider, and free of charge too.
Nice one mate ill look into that :wink:
Remote Calendars
I've been using an open source program called Remote Calendars.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/remotecalendars/
it synchs your google calendar to outlook which can then be synched to your PPC.
you can also synch the other way (i.e. put something in your PPC and have it transferred to Google)
it's not a perfect system but it's the best i've found
Am I right in thinking you still have to make your calendar public for this application to work though?
No google calendars have two addresses:
a public one - which you can disable and
a private one - which you should never give to anyone else or publish anywhere
you can get your private address from the Calendar Details page of the settings menu. this is what you use for Remote Calendars
so your calendar is still private (or shared with family & friends etc)
woohhhoooooooo :lol:
Google Calendar Sync
This only works for main calendar:
5 March 2008 Google Calendar Sync allows you to sync events between Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook Calendar.
http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?answer=89955
You can now access your Google Calendar account from your mobile phone! Just visit mobile.google.com/calendar/ with your phone's web browser and once you're logged in, you'll see your list of upcoming events with date and time information in an easy-to-browse format.

Hi,
I have synced my work email account to my mobile (SPVm3100)...
Is there a way that I can sync a public folder (a calender) from the Exchange server to my phone but I need to keep the current calender intact (this is synced from another PC).
I don't mind if it's a separate calender...
Any ideas?
Cheers

Hey there. Ive been looking for quite a while now, but even the search function in this huge board cant help me out.
I'd like to:
Have my Gmail pushed
Have my Gmail Contacts synced
Have my Google Calendar 2way synced
ive found several possibilities to sync either gmail OR calendar via Exchange, using www.nuevasync.com for Calendar and Contacts OR using mail2web.com for Gmail. Sadly nothing that supports both.
Now, since i cant use 2 Exchange servers with wm 6.1 (im using UdK's Diamond R8 on my Polaris) im kinda stuck.
Does anyone of you know a service that offers both Gmail push and Calendar/Contacts sync, or if its possible to have 2 Exchange servers sync simultaneously, how?
And, to make it worse, id prefer not to use any additional programs like SEVEN or oggsync.
thanks in advance

any help appreciated
Despite what people may say, it is possible to sync with two Exchange servers. The only way I've been able to do it successfully is to manually create the partnership reg keys in HKCU\Software\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Partnerships by copying and editing an existing partnership. Do this with ActiveSync closed.
I currently have one server set up to do mail, contacts, tasks and a second exchange server to do only calendaring. If you have multiple Exchange servers with the same services marked (i.e., mail checked for two), things start to get hairy. If you want to try to do calendaring with two servers, you'll need to change the value "NonLocalCrossPolination" in the ActiveSync key to 1, and no guarantees that you won't cause some sort of recursive loop of updates.
Partnerships are treated in LIFO order - Push sync notifications to the device are only recognized by the FIRST partnership listed in ActiveSync, which seems to be the LAST partnership added. This means that 99% of the time you'll want whichever server is set to do mail to be the last one you add. Whenever you receive a push notification that a sync is necessary, all partnerships will check for updates. This normally works just fine since you'll be receiving mail at least as often as you will be making calendar changes.
thanks for the help, ill try to get that workin.
I can confirm that this is working.
Have you seen this from Google?
http://lifehacker.com/5149741/google-sync-keeps-contacts-and-calendars-in-sync-on-your-mobile-phone
this might be what you are looking for
Yeah, Google just started their own sync service using Active Sync.
http://www.google.com/mobile/default/sync.html
Still doesn't sync your mail, but you can always use IMAP
Has anyone been able to use this to sync multiple calendars?
I have done searching on this, but all the information is not consistent and fragmented, so I am not sure if what is true.
What I am looking to find is if and what version of Android can sync (push) with MS Exchange (email, contacts, and calendar) and Hotmail.
Back a long time ago, I had tried the MyTouch 3G with T-Mobile and enjoyed it all except it didn't do a complete sync (missing contacts and calendar) with the MS exchange server we use at work. It also did not do push sync with Hotmail.
I have seen some places that Android will do this now, but again haven't found anything too concrete on this.
If you know, please let me know if Android will do all the syncing above and what version.
Thanks.

Not my work, but I can say that it worked first time.
We just upgraded our outlook web from 2007 to 2010 the upgrade ended up breaking all Entourage and Crackberries and Android phone Active sync connection. We were able to get the Entourage and Crackberries fixed minus about 10%. The android has been limited to 2.2 and 2.1 phones using the default exchange client. It gets to the point of creating the account and fails after polling and setting up active sync for 5 minutes. It will authenticate the users but states can't create the account at this time.
I don't have full access to the active sync (AD settings or IIS) we use godaddy ssl certs.
the original link was piratemail.ecu.edu and the workaround is legacypiratemail.ecu.edu
More than anything resource material for how the android side is wanting to authenticate and build the account on the phone from the exchange server settings would be great.
