Hi guys.
am not sure if this is the right place to ask or not but there isnt a section for it as yet so asking here only.
I really liked the specs of the upcoming HTC Leo, and might wana buy it in christmas.
but there is one thing i want to know is that being such an advanced device with 1ghz processor, 320mb ram, capacitative 4.3" screen, is it ready for a WM7 update?
any idea on that?
and if its not and MS want a much stronger device then is MS trying to bring WM7 to netbooks or what? cause anything more that HTC Leo is not going to be a CelPhone Device.
IF someone knows anything then do clear this plz.

I think the Leo will support the upgrade to WM 7, there are plenty of web pages which talk about it, for example i read this one: http://www.gsmdome.com/htc/htc-leo-supports-windows-mobile-7-upgrade-first_9955
am really glad 2read dat. i hope dat its true.
Despite the hardware, don't expect any OS or Manila upgrades for HTC devices as long as they are not officially announced as from the release. I reckon that HTC will not provide any CE7 upgrade for the HTC Leo - that's typical HTC support, you'll see - that's also the experience from the Diamond and Blackstone devices with regards to WM6.5. Of course, there will be CE7 ROMs which can be flashed on an unofficial basis.
Georgeous2008, WM7/CE7 can't just be "ported" to current WM6/CE5 devices, so don't claim that for sure. I heard the whole kernel and driver structures are different. The only chance of backporting WM7 is if a device with (almost) exactly the same hardware gets released with WM7.
Specs say there will be a WM7 upgrade. They meet all the requirements of WM7, including things that don't really make sense in WM6.5, such as the digital compass and the capacitive screen. Neither are extensively supported in WM6.5, but are requirements for WM7.
That does't guarantee that HTC will provide a WM7 upgrade, of course.
basically, it has sufficient hardware specs, but it is unlikely that HTC will provide an update like with the td2 and tpro 2 with winmo 6.5
But there MAY be a chance of you being able to flash it IF ROMs can be created but nothing can be said as of yet
having a mammoth device like leo and using it for wm6.5 aint full justice to the power it has. and it'llbe poor strategy to bring leo but without the option of wm7. hope htc does hv plans. cause i believe leo's power is for wm7 only.

All it really needs is someone from HTC to write a compatible Kernel for the specific device. It really doesn't mean the hardware has to be exactly the same on every device, it just means HTC has to consider it a time-worthy idea. Although at this point, I'm not thinking it's going to happen. We still have a 6.5.1 release on its way, and who knows when Microsoft will release WM7.
To be perfectly honest, I think it was a mistake for Microsoft to invest all of this time and money into the WM6.5 half a*s OS. They should have just went straight to WM7.
Basically, to sum up and put it in perspective, you prolly won't find out too much accurate information about running and OS that hasn't been released to anyone on a device that hasn't been released...
i was eagerly awaiting s-off and custom roms... now that we have them i can and will finally purchase a htc sensation
but i was wondering how many different revisions of the device are floeting around and wich one seems to be the better ones..
after all there seem to be a lot of differences ( different screens, wifi doomgrip, touchscreen issues..)
some of them are sure hardware related so when i buy this flagship phone i atleast hope to get a revised model with some of the bugs cleared...
so i ask if there is a list of the newest versions of the phone somewhere
thx
It's a hit and miss. There are no revisions, it's just that not all batches are made the same way. So you might get a problem, or you might now. Luck of the draw.

Is it possible to run/port other OS such as Meego, Windows Phone, etc on HTC Sensation?
No, at least not yet.
In order for developers to port over Windows phone 7 on the sensation, they need to reverse engineer the whole OS, write drivers that work with our hardware and test it extensively to make sure it works.
The only reason, they got it to work on the HD2 was because a lot of the hardware was the same from the HD7. Hopefully the Sensation get's to be as popular as the HD2 so we can get other operating systems as well.

HD2 was my ex-phone, I lost it in the school.
You can usually pick up a new HD2 pretty cheap: eBay or Craigslist. That should solve your multi-OS desire. Not many, or any, other phones can do what it did.

I have a friend who has found that everything implemented with Point attenuation will look like a blurry mess on devices from HTC and LG. This happens on even the newest devices from HTC, like HTC Desire HD. Why is it like this? Haven't they implemented Android in the right way?
I understand there is some proprietary hardware in the Atrix 2. What features of the phone would be unlikely to work in a rom (when the bootloader is cracked)?
Reason I am asking is I recently bought an Infuse 4G in auction, and was disappointed to find Bluetooth would not work in a rom. I am currently looking to sell and get a phone that's robust and CM7/9 modifiable with all features working and not in a SGSII price range.
Thats a hard question to answer since there is no "list" of hardware in each phone. But whenever a ROM is built for any particular phone, the developer will need drivers that will work with the phone and the ROM. Certain phones have drivers that have trouble with certain ROMs...so that means that the developers will have to try work arounds and patches to try and get them to work. As far as the Atrix 2 goes, I don't really know if anyone knows if anything will present any problems since there are no "really" custom ROM's (ie CM7/9, MIUI) available for the phone yet.
