[ROM][32A] Stock HTC 3.05.401.3 Rooted [01-21-2010] - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

Stock HTC 3.05.401.3 Rooted
No changes except:
- root, ro.secure=0
- adb enabled through boot process
- Superuser.apk
Requires HTC 6.35.07.29 or higher radio and 1.76.2007 SPL.
I offer limited support on this ROM image because all I did was a simple R&R (root and repack).
This ROM offers only language support for the countries that it was meant to be distributed to by HTC. This means no Chinese, Viatnamese, US English (it has other English settings).
Enjoy!
Stock HTC 3.05.401.3 Rooted
If you want the full-featured, multilanguage ROM, I recommend CursorSense32A.

Did you fix some issues as your 1.1.1 ROM?

One again, I got trouble of update this zip file (keep the same name of file and change to update.zip file)
After chose the flash zip file option, my HTC reset immediately and get stuck at boot screen. After that the Recovery mode reset after few seconds everytime I access.
I tried to re flash the recovery img but still the same.
Note: I used the recovery to flash other zip file like Amon 1.6.3 Donut and Hero of AHMGSK. It updated well.

you need the HERO recovery!!! Read people READ! Its in the first post of the upgrade thread!

You need to use a Hero revocery, not Sapphire.

Thank you, I think that Magic need to use Magic recovery. And also the Magic recovery can update other zip file like Amon 1.6..
I replaced by Hero recovery and it is working now.

One more request!
NICE WORK! This is the best ROM I ever used. The only thing we need to be done here is busybox. Can You do this for us? (preferably by update withour wipe) PLEASE! PLEASE!
(edit) In fact there is busybox. I though it is not because after using Market Enabler I wasn['t able to see "PapaStacker" paid app. But there are some of paid apps and some not. And the same is with newest CursorSense. (which in fact is slower then stock ROM so I['m reverting to stock).

So far the best rom for 32A. I am using it from yesterday, and didn't see any bugs. Everything works extremely fast and stable. I forgot what force close is .
Thank You Cursordroid.

Cursordroid, add busybox please. Thx fot yor great roms.

Where it's written in the first post that I need Hero recovery? I can't use RA-sapphire-v1.5.2?

HTC MAGIC original ROM running on TIM, unbranded A6161, Rogers, ... by daldroid

Hi all,
here you can find my modded recovery image and a rom based on the original rom for HTC magic (model A6161 sold in scandinavia).
BEWARE, it works on TIM Magic, recovery was tested on Original Unbranded Magic, but the rom has to be tested yet.
I modded it to grant root access from adb shell. It doesn't work unmodified on Vodafone Magic and other devices with modified SPL. SPL working for this ROM is .2008, Board is PVT 32A.
I've no time to provide a step-by-step guide right now. Sorry to be in a hurry.
You have to download the images, then:
- copy the signed zip file as update.zip into your sd card root
- fastboot the recovery image
- select nandroid backup from the menu (so you're going to dump your original ROM)
- select wipe data
- select apply update
- select reboot
- wait a long time for the first initialization.
I'm sorry for italian guys, it seems TIM sim customizes the phone for noverca. You'll have to change your apn settings, so during the wizard setup, press ignore when asked for google account setup. You'll configure it later.
DISCLAIMER: WARNING, you're going to format all of your data and the rom has not been tested for full functionality. Flashing unofficial roms ROMs will invalidate your warranty and you can make your device unusable. Do it at your own responsability. Non experienced users, please wait for for feedbacks by more experienced users.

Imports extended list of APNs

1) Download the .zip file
2) Rename it to update.zip and transfer it to SD card
3) reboot in recovery mode (fastboot daldroid recovery if you didn't flash a modded recovery)
4) optionally select WIPE from the menu (I only had time to test with WIPE, as for initial setup. Maybe working without wiping too)
5) reboot
6) Make your initial setup. select "change language" to have the full list available
NOTE: No Chinese Input Method was ADDED (HTC_CIME). Search this thread for a way to install it if needed.

You are welcome.
When I have some more time, I would like to fill the first posts I reserved in this thread with info about confirmed working installation, etc.
Let's say any info (or link to already posted info) could be of help to other users of the community.
Counting on the help of users having successfully flashed these images to fill a small template about your model, original radio version, spl, kernel version, CPLD, board, etc. etc..
I'm asking this because we have to think that in the future other different models could be released and some new user could try to flash these images only because he bought an Original HTC (do you remember how many of us tried booting the vodafone Magic images with the only result to hang on splash screen?)
A detailed table of confirmed working phones could be of help to them.

Did you follow the steps in the correct order? What was the result of fastboot?
Did the fastboot also hang on the splash screen?
Do you have a TIM, Original HTC Magic or Rogers phone or do you have vodafone one?
Since it's not your first flash, I assume you already flashed your phone, so I suppose you have a vodafone Magic/sapphire.
In that case the board is PVT 32B (not PVT 32A) and you have a different bootloader. And in this case the fastboot shoud have hanged on logo screen.
If not able to fastboot my recovery-image, I suppose you flashed the ROM with a recovery image you already flashed.
If my assuptions are true, you have to boot in recovery-mode from your flashed recovery (or fastbooting into a working recovery for your phone) and flash again your previous ROM image with the procedure you are used to.
This ROM doesn't work on VODAFONE Magics.

Only English , I suppose
yes, only english
this is just a stock image if you flash you will just have a plain donut rom!
also there's this,
you cannot flash these images to a retail devices such as the T-Mobile G1 because the images do not have the appropriate cryptographic signatures.

Can you go into more detail? Is it possible to just flash it through fastboot without modifying the zip? If we have to modify, what do we need to do?
If someone is kind enough to put together a simple modified update.zip that can easily be flashed on the voda version, I would much appreciate it. I'm not a fan of all those cooked roms, I want just a plain stock 1.6.

You're stuck with the same SPL that a lot of people have. It doesn't allow remote fastboot commands.
Ty the Flashrec (Recovery Flasher) instructions here on the forum to see if that works for you. Remember to download the HTC Hero recovery.img though, it's the only one that works with the 6.35.07.29 radio on these devices.
Try these instructions:
(I know it says for Hero, but the guide works on 32A magic with 6.35.07.29 radio)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=559613
Use this recovery image instead of the Modaco/Cyanogen one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=561124
If that works, then you'll need to flash an engineering SPL.
Download it from here and save it to your SD card:
http://www.4shared.com/file/167241823/658e8174/update-hboot-1762007-signed.html
Boot into recovery by turning off your phone, then turning it on by holding Home and pressing Power. Choose the update.zip and you're good to go.
Then you can flash it back to original 32A radio and SPL using these instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544761
If the Recovery Flasher doesn't work, then you need to wait until somebody figures out how to root this SPL/ROM combination.

OK, then your ROM has the kernel security hole closed that Flashrec needs to run.

I was missing the Android Market wich didnt come with the Singapore RUU so just downloaded the the HK RUU, ran it with a gold card (dont know if thats really neccesary) and got Market.
The point being - if people are on the Singapore official update, would it be somehow possible to "patch" the HK RUU files from the temporary folders where it stores the files for the update? To say, replace the original HBOOT with an ENG HBOOT (possibly *.2007?)?
Since Singapore rom version is lower than the HK one..:
Singapore: ROM Version: 3.03.728.4(For Indonesia, Malaysia& Vietnam only)
HK-E: ROM Version: 3.03.990.6
..possibly it would skip the "wrong main version" or whatever it says during the update..?
Am I onto something here?

well first 728.4 or 990.6 is just the region code. 3.03 is the version number. and second, the right singapore rom number is 3.03.707.5 WITH market. u have downloaded a vietnam rom instead of singapore one. u can switch anyone of them without problem with goldcard since they are basically the same rom with tiny difference.
any asia RUU is ok

yes you are right. SG rom comes with market.
I have tried malaysia rom, vodaphone rom.
vodaphone rom is the fastest one for me but my pc didn't detect my phone if I install vodaphone hk rom. But it is faster than SG rom.
I have installed my SG rom on my phone several times.
no brick.
the thing is when I tried to replace any rom.zip or rom1.zip in the temp file with any other rom, somehow installation detected that i have replaced the files.
even I signed the zip. it didn't work.
even the signed the zip correctly, it will stop at hboot.
then got to install from RUU again.
HBoot seems to be so hard to crack and too strong to brick
double post..
can you tell me the step please. cause im using indonesian ruu & no market.
its perfect spl too..
Thx.. adr

This tutorial was written specifically for T-Mobile MyTouch 3G 32B. It will ruin your device if you flash it elsewhere rather than on 32B MyTouch 3G. This thread is no longer supported because: 1. I do not remember anything about MyTouch 3G anymore; and 2. I do not have it anymore.
Also files could be corrupt after two years no one payed attention to them. So everything you do from this thread is solely on your own risk!
Hello everyone. I'm creating this thread because there are many noobs, just like myself, who ask too many questions and fail to use search properly. I just want to make it easier for dummies to find and do this, I take no credit for the work below mentioned people have done. I want to say thank you to those who made this all possible.
CLShortFuse for making super easy Rooting method. Original topic.
Amon_RA for making custom recovery for all of us. RA recovery thread
dasunsrule32 for making easy step by step tutorial. Original thread
xillius200 for providing flashable zips and guide. Original thread
Ohsaka and ezterry for amazing superwipe. Original thread
This is for MyTouch 3G 32B original (No Fender, 3.5 mm jack)
You will be flashing:
Radio: 2.22.27.08
SPL: 1.33.0013d
1. Your device should be rooted if you want to do it. SuperOneClick should work like a charm. Could be found here.
2. Download recovery and install it if you didn't do it yet. It could be performed by using Clockwork's app from the market. You can also use Clockwork's recovery if you want.
Note: The new OTA 2.2.1 update is going to restore original recovery after each boot, and will delete the custom one. (This happened to me) I tried flashing ROM before it was deleted and got Boot loops, no matter what ROM I used. Boot loop is when your phone got stuck on the green "MyTouch" image and restarts in circles. This is my way of doing it because I was a noob and found it longer but easy. Search through the thread, some of the users described that it is not necessary to downgrade. What helped me was flashing Android 1.5, then updating it to 1.6, and from there installing custom ROM. It worked for me, I'm not sure it will work for everyone. dasunsrule32 says you need custom SPL for doing it, but it worked for me without one.
Tutorial is here, chose section DOWNGRADE TO DONUT OTA:
3. Download flashable zips (radio and hboot) from xillius200 post (here) and download Ohsaka's superwipe here
4. Put Radio, hboot, and superwipe zip files into root directory of your SD card.
5. Make a nandroid back up (through recovery). And do Titanium back up of your apps and data, read the note:
Note: your current ROM might not be working with new radio and SPL, as mine OTA Rom did not work. I had to flash specific one. So make sure you backed up your apps and data. Titanium backup from Market should work fine.
6. Download ROM that you will be using. Make sure it works with the SPL and Radio you will be changing.
7. Make sure you have done step 4. Go into recovery and chose "install zip" and pick superwipe. Wait for it to finish and Chose "Power OFF." and then boot up into recovery.
8. Now you are good to flash Radio. Chose "Flash Zip" and pick radio and flash it. Your phone should reboot, I think mine didn't so I had to do it manually.
9. Boot into recovery again and now flash hboot zip file. Your phone should reboot after flashing.
10. Now you should be done and can flash the ROM. You can check your radio and SPL by booting your phone by pressing Volume Down and Power buttons at the same time.
PS: I take no responsibility if you brick your device.
before you can do step 1, your device needs to be rooted....
Excellent guide AntonJart. Much appreciated!
Is there a advantage to upgrading? And if so what is it. I am running asop beatmod 32b 2.2.1 amon rec . Great post thanks

It should free a bit of ram, 14 mb if I'm not mistaken, and allow to use cool ROMs.

assuming that user already has root, but I added the step. I think I did not know about custom SPL and Radio all the way after rooting and flashing first custom ROM.
Are there any zips that flash the new (6.35) radio for the 32a with the headphone jack

This is a massive noob question but I've been running CM6.1 for ages now but I'm starting to get sick of the lagging. Now that CM won't be releasing any more versions for the magic (or so we're told) I was thinking about flashing a stripped down rom for speedy daily use, something like what Yoshi has been doing maybe?
I have my device info below and I've searched around for ages to understand what I need to be looking for with new radios etc but I am a little lost. Can anyone direct me towards what I should be looking for? even recommending a rom/kernal/radio combination that might offer speed and functionality?
Device Info:
HTC Vodafone Magic (Australia)
Sapphire PVT 32B SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0004 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-10
RADIO-2.22.19.261
APR 9 2009,23:30:40
Many thanks!!!
Yoshi's Rom is super fast and stable. I'm not sure if this guide will work for Vodafone magic, but this radio and SPL is what needed for yoshi's ROM.
By the way, you can try flashing his 1.4 micro twist and see if it works for you. It is super duper fast rom.
Thanks AntonJart, I'll give Yoshi's a go.
Good job! Who wanna sticky? You wanna sticky? You gotta sticky!

Thanks for this wonderful post, but an important correction. There is no need to downgrade to Donut when flashing a rom. All you need is a rom with a 2708/28.25/0013spl compatible kernel. Or flash ezterry's compatible kernel (link in my sig) after whichever rom you install.
I rooted my T-mobile MT3G 32B running oem 2.2.1 with superoneclick, flashed ra recovery via rom manager, did a full wipe in amon ra recovery, flashed a rom, flashed ezterry's kernel and booted right up.
There is absolutely no need to downgrade to Donut.
I went thru all of the steps and rebooted my phone after installing my ROM and it still showed the stock radio and hboot. My phone did not reboot either time I installed the radio or the hboot. I had to reboot it myself. Can anyone help?
Does it work on Roger's htc magic?
I had the green screen reboot going on. When I booted into Hboot it should the new radio and hboot but the phone kept on rebooting. Any help?
I even tried to rename the ROM to udate.zip still rebooting my touch screen.

[ROM][FEB 03] Raidroid Stockify Series - Rooted/Debranded Stock Roms

Info
These ROMs are simply debranded and rooted stock roms including an unsecure boot.img and su added aswell as operator branding removed. Aswell as this there are 2 download options, the first is the ROM, this is fully odexed and includes everything to get started, the 2nd download is a deodex update which will deodex the rom removing all the odex files and replacing odexed apps with unodexed replacements, each rom has its own matching deodex update containing the deodexed apps for that rom.

May I ask you to make a rooted stock 1.32.405.6? Many people who did not do ENG S-OFF before they installed a ROM have to get stock ROM to be able to do the ENG S-OFF. Normally they have to install a RUU, but if you make a CWM installable stock 1.32 ROM, they do not have to do that anymore
Screenshots?

The "get s-off" issue doesn't relate to 1.72 base custom roms, its hboot related hence the need for the ruu

It is actually radio related in stock 1.72 ROM. But I am talking about custom roms, see this scenario:
- A guy has a phone, possibly downgrades it.
- He gets Radio S-OFF, and installs your rom. Then he wants ENG S-OFF.
- You use a custom kernel, which does not support power cycling eMMC (kernel module does not load) in order to write a new hboot with dd
- ENG S-OFF fails, he realizes that he has to get stock rom
- He comes here, and just installs stock rom using recovery
- ENG S-OFF works

Wasn't aware of the power cycling issue, il look further into that one, bit strange as mine and other kernels are based on 1.32 source
Sent from my LeeDrOiD loaded HTC Desire HD using my thumb....
Yeah, and the weird thing is that some kernels by Apache work and some just don't. For example the 1.0.7 works fine, but the newest one does not. (with wpthis module)
It is really not a huge problem, if Raider makes 1.32.405.6 cwm ROM.

im downloading stock 1.32.405.6 and 1.72.405.3 RUU to make into CWM zip, other roms to follow including the new ARA rom
Thx - this will help stock ROM lovers to use their favorite mods like power notification bar on a 99% stock ROM.

OK, no problem. Put hboot_eng.nb0 (and dd) to /sdcard then type in terminal emulator:
$ su
# dd if=/sdcard/hboot_eng.nb0 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18

Custom rom is rooted. DHD is Radio S-OFF. You doesn't need to power cycle eMMC. You can flash anything exept radio.
- ENG S-OFF fails, he realizes that he has to get stock rom
PS. [ROM] FULLY ROOTED WWE 1.72.405.3 No Radio No HBoot [V2 03/01/2011]
I know, but most users need a GUI to do that. I know that dd works, but it is not very user friendly. I might add a tickbox to my ENG S-OFF tool so that people can tell the app that they have Radio S-OFF already..
But still for good compatibility, the kernel should be able to power cycle eMMC.

For people who treat 1.32 as intermediate step, CWM package with eng-hboot may be much simpler than root-ed 1.32.
Well, cwm cannot write a hboot..

dd inside CWM package can... But I understood the main problem in this way is error handling/reporting. Big red message: ERROR!!! Retry? YES/Definitely YES will be much better than small text in bottom of screen in CWM
If this is a stock rom modded, can I flash it over my stock rooted rom??? (I removed some bundled apps)
rom 1.83 is android 2.2.1? are you sure about this? many people who had it said it's android 2.2 :S
1.83 corrected in op, it is 2.2
So, please light me up!
If i had ENG-S OFF and RADIO S-OFF and CWM 3.0.0.5, and i flash this rom with cwm and i lose the ENG S-OFF? Or brick my phone? Or this is a safe rom?
