i637 Jack - How to remove Vlingo from silent key, tweak it on wm6.5 - Non-Touchscreen Windows Mobile Other

Instead of Vlingo, when tapping the Silent Key I want to start Voice Notes straight to "Record" function (like Dictaphone). Does anyone know a tweak?
(I already upgraded to WM6.5 and changed the media web button to skyfire, and the att gps to garmin)
When using Total Commander and trying to remove all of the ATT crapware/demo ware, I was only able to remove from the Start Menu or from Program Files, but not from the Windows main directory. It appears that deleting files like JewelQuestII.exe from the Windows main directory is locked (I get a message 'cannot delete 1 file(s)') Does anyone know how to unlock that? How can I uninstalling the rest of the AT&T clutter, including successfully removing the start-up/shut-down AT&T 3g animation?
Also, on my previous HTC Tilt there was a button on the side, which when I tapped it the display turns off and the device goes to 'sleep' stand-by mode (keys, screen don't respond, until there is phone call to wake up the device). On the i637 the button on the side doesn't do that - when I tap it it goes to shut down and such shortcut menu. Does anyone know how to tweak it to behave like the Tilt? (put it to sleep).
[Right now I have to wait like 30 secs before the device puts itself to sleep, so I just hold down the end button to 'lock' it and then put it in my pocket]
Do you think that the reason why you have to hold on the power button longer in order to start-up the device (after upgrading to WM6.5) is because somehow there are two sets of instructions for the phone to go by? [one is the old/stock 6.1 set of instructions, and one is the new 6.5 set)? If yes, then is there a way to completely remove the 6.1 (initial/stock stuff)? But yet, my HTC Tilt also has to be held down when booting up, and that was like that out of the box. Don't know if ATT did the upgrading on the Tilt to 6.1 though. But I do know that the Tilt that I have was ATT upgraded from 6.0 to 6.1 just don't know how they did it. Just mentioning the Tilt for comparison purposes. I need support only on i637.
Anyone knows any good (free) Pocket Dictionary for Smart Phone (non-touch screen)?
I just noticed this, since it is the first time that I actually went To MS Office, (and I went to it for the 1st time, after WM6.5 upgrade, so no i637 6.1 experience to compare). The MS Office WORD & Excel don't have any way to start a 'NEW' word or excel sheet. It just goes into browsing mode like searching for files. So I immediately went to the HTC Tilt and the Office to compare, and sure enough- for Tilt there IS a choice to start 'NEW' Word and Excel. In i637 the only 'NEW' choice is to start a 'New One NOTE' but not for Word or Excel. Any tweak, suggestions, comments?
Can someone post a working .cab for Smart Phone (non-touchscreen), turning the Jack i637 into a hot spot functionality, like the IPhone (announced as MyWi) ?
Did anyone figure out a tweak for the battery percentage? (% is not showing).
I have to admit that i637, though a non-touchscreen device, has so far many advantages over the Tilt. For one thing, I find it a lot faster and more convenient in the hand/pocket.

keylocktray.exe

hi all.
in \windows\ I have an executable called keylocktray.exe
when I run it an icon appears in my task tray on the today screen but nothing happens.
anyone know what it's for - except for locking the keys, and why it does nothing.
i'm just interested.
wm5 - imate rom 2.16.9.1 wwe.
phone is a wizard.
what's that task tray for anyway? only tomtom seems to use it and since you need to go to start-today to access it anyway, isn't it easier just to click start-tomtom?
Hi eayuwna!
Actually the tray is used by many programs, but I guess you don't have the ones in question.
It acts pretty much like the tray in desktop windows (the icons next to the clock).
Have you tried clicking on the icon that appears there?
On my jamin (prophet) for example, the tray is used by the comm manager and the battery meeter. That way I can access power manager and comm manager from today screen without them taking up space in the start menu.
Keep in mind that start menu only lets you have 7 items in it. That's why there are programs like VJTrayLaunch (www.vijay555.com) that let you put icons in the tray to launch apps directly from today screen.
ok
ok. that's new to wm5 I think? is it?
I suppose if you have your device default to the today screen after inactivity then it's useful.
I do have comm manager there too but the wizard has a hard key for it so I rarely use the icon.
when I click the icon concerned it changes to a keyboard symbol with a padlock and a line thru but all the hardware keys still work. can someone else give it a try to see if it does anything on other phones?
incidentally, speaking of the battery icon, my old Qtek ROM used to have the cool green version. Since upgrading to the imate ROM I now only have the crappy windows one (actually I have wisbar).
Is there an executable I can get off someone with a QTek one that will give me my good taskbar battery meter back?
***EDIT***
Scratch that; I've just looked through the windows folder some more and found Powertray.exe. Copy this as a shortcut to \windows\startup to get it back.
The tray icon for Keylocktray.exe toggles the option for turning on the backlight using any hardware button. I love functionality but want to enable it always and remove the tray icon. Can anyone give me pointers on how to do this.

TouchFLO-Once closed, It wont Re-Open unless I reboot phone. Any ideas?

Hey guys
New to TouchFlo - got it installed yesterday.
Having an issue though.
When I open it, by clicking the taskbar button, or in Start, it opens up.
When i want to go back to Today screen, I swipe up on it to toss it away, or even if i hold the right taskbar button to close it, it goes away.
If i try to access it again, nothing happens. screen stays on Today, but is not functional unless i press the END key, as if an invisible FLO is over the screen
Whats up here?
here is what i flashed yesterday
T-Mobile 2.26 ROM : MDA_software_update_226102_22610105_022511.exe
T-Mobile-UK_2.19.11_Radinly
NBD.v7.9
running old AT&T blue network on 8125
installed apps:
A_C Slide2Unlock
Xplore Keyboard
Today Agenda
Pocket Alarm
Nyx Password
Device Lock
Contact Manager
MhoairSofa Calendar+ Today Plugin
BatteryStatus (using this to overclock to 260mhz.)
PocketSoft ToggleBT
I had the iphone phonepad and stuff installed, but i couldnt figure out how to switch back to the Today screen without clicking SETTINGS, and still having iphone running. it was slow and laggy. any way around this?
thanks
I had same issue, only solution for me, was to stop using TouchFlo
Touchflo will only pull itself up the first time period...
Afterwards when you push the button to access it, it will appear nothing will happen... however if you swipe your finger as if you were turning the cube, it will infact go to the next page..... try it out
that is stupid!
any hopes of a fix?
The various versions of touchflo on wizard require you to press a button before getting touch to work. Depending on the ROM, this could be button 4 or left softkey.
HTC Tocuh has a video of Touch phone on their website. I see that even here, a button is pressed every time the touch features are accessed. This may be a feature of touch itself, rather than a bug in the way touchflo works on wizard.

Click to collapse
you can buy a touch.
man, think...
the touchFLO is hack for work on wizard....so is very hard to have this work perfect.
if you realy need the cube working 100% buy a touch

New Dopod C500 user coming from Blackberry 8700

Disclaimer: It's my first Windows phone - I've been a Blackberry user for a few years, and might have been conditioned to using it.
A few impressions: I like the Vox very much. Although it feels a lot slower, it has the small size, has the "normal" phone pads where the 2=ABC, 3=DEF - I missed it a lot on the Blackberry, has WiFi, a 2MP camera (which I doubt I'll use much), and a truly useful Bluetooth (the Blackberry's default profile set is painfully small)
On the other hand, there are a lot of minor things that makes using the Vox a pain compared to the Blackberry...here're my top rants:
1. I've been looking for ways to display the day of week on the home screen. Why MS leaves it out is very baffling.
2. You have to press "unlock" to unlock the phone. On the BB I could just start typing the passwords.
3. Four fixed profiles - I'd like to define new profiles, please. It should be easy?
4. Autotext: I miss tremendously the eagerness of the Blackberry to prevent me from having to hit "shift". Pressing the space can mean a dot, an @ sign, etc. at different places. Pressing and holding a key means capitalizing, double space inserts period, "br" means open bracket, etc.
5. Backspace key on the slideout keyboard is not doing what it is supposed to, at least in pocket IE and Quicknote- pressing and holding does not repeat the key, so to delete the URL on the address bar I have to press the backspace X number of times...or just hold the backspace key on the numeric keypad.
6. On each contact I have to choose "Last, First" or "First Last" instead of a global setting...WHY?
7. I thought the phone should be smart enough to enable the "traditional" English IME when the keyboard is slided out. The "smart" English IME only has its place when the phone keypad - when you have the full keyboard, why guess and force me to hit "Enter" after every word? I should be able to use the arrow keys any time to confirm what I have already typed without "Enter".
8. Those annoying sounds - Wifi turns off, initiating a call, etc. Why?
9. Networking Wizard - that tells me my carrier is not in its database, offers me "Don't ask me again" checkbox that I cannot find a way to check.
10. Ending a call does not automatically bring me back to the home screen. That's annoying.
11. No page up/page down anywhere. It's a PITA in pocket IE.
I know it's a lot of rant - I don't know which ones of these things are fixable and which aren't. After searching for a bit I know #8 is fixable via registry hacks. Don't know about anything else.
I'm really trying to move away from the trusty Blackberry, which is getting old (but holding very well after surviving countless, vigorous abuses like dropping down subway platforms, flying towards brick walls, etc.). So by putting the shortcomings of the Vox together in one message, I hope someone may point out ways to tweak/fix it.
Sorry for the long rant. I'm really trying to use the Vox - or is "life after Blackberry" an oxymoron?
Some good news:
#1 is solved. HKLM\nls\overrides, add "ddd" to SSDte. Mine is now "ddd yyyy-MM-dd" and it works perfectly. Now when I try to update the time in the setting menu, it automatically updates the DOW too!
#4 - I read there's something called "Kai's Autocorrect" - is a pay-software, but it might do what I need...anyone knows some other proggie that can replace-as-you-type?
#6 - still trying - although it looks like there's a registry hack for it.
#8 - easily fixed thru widely available reg hacks!!
#10 - I just realized it does, but I don't want the 5 seconds or so delay. Maybe there's a tweak somewhere...
#11 - Have I overlooked? Pgup/Pgdn are there - maybe I'm asking for too much to use "space" as Pgdn?

PointUI

Hello, I thinks many of you knows PointUI on WM PPC ... Now it runs also on WM Smartphone
I tested it on my E650 and it fast and smooth !!!
The only problem I got is, when I press the hang up key ( the red one ), it close ...
If somebody have an idea on how to disable this key I'll test it
www.pointui.com
is it really necessary to use it?
It`s some time that somebody post this thing here .. well it`s nice handy as well but you find few bugs (key lock, your issue etc, mostly because its made for PPC i think ) and slow up the system coz its aplication-homescreen thing .. best homescreen i ever had is slide panel in gonzos WM 6.1 rom ..
I used PointUI at BETA, 1.0 all the way to 1.51a and I must say while it has progressed, the Smartphone/Standard release has been overlooked. It causes massive battery drain on HTC S710 with anything over version 1.02b. I use it now and again when I feel like getting a change to the UI but the battery draining issue really needs to be resolved.
To answer your question, you can't really disable your Call End key, you should be able to remap it with something like AE Button Plus. When I do use Point UI, I set the setting to Show Home after a call has ended and I have become used to using the back key instead of the End Call key to switch. I also bound my side key to Terminate Current application, so the End Call key for me really only ends calls when I am done on the phone.

Acer Dx900

Hi all
i got myself one of these nice machines, apart from the battery life, i quite like it.
however, everytime i touch any buttons, it turns on. is there anyway to only select it to turn on when pressing power button?i cant find anything in the settings tabs (im running wm6.5 by the way)
thanks for the help, any program or registry setting that does that, id be willing to try!
also, does anyone know where the backlight.exe (or if it is under any other name) is situated?i want to make a shortcut to it on the home screen, but cant find the file in the windows directory!
I've been looking for it too...
Open the battery-settings.
And choose the upper option.
...by the way, how did you upgrade to wm6.5?
I'm still running 6.1
