Me and a group of talented developers here in Dubai are proud to announce the semi-completed BT Stack replacement for wm2003,wm2003se, and wm2005.
What we have learned so far is that the listening component of the MS BT Stack sucks big time. Our first aim with the new addon/replacement is to make windows mobile retrieve remote device name on incomming connection. And guess what...... It Worked !!!!!
Our first Beta version that will be released shortly, includes a BT listenener that replaces Microsoft's BT Stack Listener and will accept all incomming connections with added bonus of showing the Sender Device's BT name without having to first pair with the remote device. It also includes a File Save Dialogue Box that appears whenever incomming files have arrived and will allow you to save all these files to your own selected destination.
We hope that this BT Replacement Project will succesfully replace some major parts of the MS BT Stack and add some more important functionalities to our pda's.
Date of release: Very Soon ...
Device Compatibility: All HTC PDA phones that use the MS BT Stack.
OS Compatibility: wm2003, wm2003se, wm2005 (All Versions so far)
Price: Absolutely FREE !!!
Wish us luck .... TAN Software 2005

Re: Great News... 70% Done... New BT Stack Replacement 4 wm2
Hey if u need my help, lemme knw. I live in dubai.
Do you intend that your replacment stack will support A2DP?
I'd shoot me in the head if I'd get WM5 on my Magician and then it would even be able to act as A2DP-SRC...
Support for A2DP profile on my Magican is what I'm waiting for... which I definitely would pay for!
I've even got the compatible bluetooth headset...
@sh500: How do you use it at the moment? I plan for gift and I dunno which way to go. It should be A2DP headset as well as call headset used on a Magician. And Voice Command should be activated over the headset. Too much to ask?
wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks For you effort,
but hope that it is a developement of widcomm stack cause ms stack is poor in its functions (there is no network support or other widcomm services),so hope that the new stack will be full of inovations.......
Thank you a lot
Sounds great! Can't wait to test it!
very good
i am so happy to hear such a news
This is an example of the type of device the new stack will hopefully be compatible with
http://www.tekkeon.com/site/products-ez3000.php
Good luck!!
I sure do hope that it is the b/t solution with WM5 on the BA........I had to switch back to 2003SE and it is not near as nice as WM5, as well as the fact that I now have to soft reset once a day again with 2003se.
Later.......... 8)

Date of release: Very Soon ... Very<----- how soooon?
could be compatible with axims x50v using wm5 upgrade ... Ms stack sucks!
Widcomm 1.50 working on WM5.0
Maybe in the meantime those using WM5.0 could take a look at that...

Dunno if it's specifically for Himalaya running WM5.0, but...
Haven't installed it myself so I can report success or failure.
Read carefully the thread for instructions.
Cheers,
Hal
this is most needed for the wizard basically theres no bluetooth for it.
Dont forget with the Widcomm stack bluetooth voice dialling doesnt work.
I dunno why everyone complains about MS Stack... it just lacks a lot of profiles. But when they are added the stack is more or less ok, isnt it?
You may have heard (particularly if you’ve been following my past articles) about the differences between the Microsoft Bluetooth stack coming with HTC Phone Edition devices and know its major shortcomings when compared to the major alternative, the Widcomm / Broadcom BT stack:
It lacks BT PAN (albeit the latest AKU3 has some basic support for BT PAN server functionality) support, which would be of high importance in, say, chatting / talking apps (for example, 4Talk or Microsoft Portrait or multiplayer games)
It, as far as versions prior to AKU3 are concerned, lacks support for BT FTP (see THIS ARTICLE for more info)
It has wildly inferior A2DP (stereo Bluetooth headphones) sound quality
No wonder a lot of people have been actively trying to “hack” the Widcomm BT stack on Pocket PC models initially coming with the Microsoft BT stack. Of them, the WM5-upgraded Dell Axim x50(v) and the x51(v) may already be known to you (I’ve also posted a lot on the project; see for example THIS).
Some weeks ago, well-known XDA-Developers hackers started to work on the port to HTC Phone Edition phones; for the most part, with success.
For the most part, you may ask? Yes, unfortunately, there still are problems; they are as follows:
Currently, it’s not possible to use traditional Bluetooth headsets for calling. Upon trying to connect to the headset, the PDA will just display an error message as can be seen in HERE. In the Hermes Widcomm developer thread, people are working on fixing this issue; so far, with little success. This will be a showstopper for many.
You won’t be able to use the PDA as a modem via Bluetooth (see my tutorial here) using either pre-AKU3 DUN or AKU3 Internet Sharing BT PAN. Also see this thread for my posts on this problem.
That is, if the lacking functionality is a showstopper for you, do NOT consider switching BT stacks as yet.
Model-specific tutorials / threads
Check them out for a discussion and / or a tutorial for installing the BT stack on your particular phone model:
HTC Wizard
HTC TyTN (Hermes) (my earlier report)
HTC Trinity: it seems it still doesn’t work at all (I’ve tried hacking very hard).
HTC Universal; well-known Pocket PC hacker and coder Helmi has just announced he’ll really soon release a working version even with headset support. I'll keep you posted.
it may sound silly, but does this stack appear in the uninstall list? so, am i able to remove it?
i'm asking because last time i changed my bt stack i ended up with my wizard being mute all the time. luckily i was able to restore my old bt version by uninstalling new one. so how is it with this one?
BTW, here's the Headset-enabled (!!!!) Universal BT stack hack: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1115973

Yes, it can be uninstalled - I haven't had any problems doing so on my Wizard and on the Trinity. Note that the Universal uninstallation is a bit more tricky.

Yes, I can also confirm than Broadcom stack works great on new WM6 releases.
It is very fast, absorbs not much program memory, but quite a lot of storage memory
(>5MB, so I have now only 8MB on my storage space )
Works great with File Transfer, A2DP, OBEX Push, VCard Push and BT Serial
Ports (BT GPS). I will test HSP/HFP next week.
2 bugs:
- Can't turn off/on Bluetooth from Comm manager
- BT Icon in Setings->Conections is not VGA and has darker
background than Settings windows background...
Is this still in developement or abandoned?

I just installed Midget_1990 release of wm6 and cannot get A2DP to work, it skips and jumps horrendously no matter how i add or delete the custom reg hacks that have been posted.
Can anybody confirm an alternative method of fixing this, or whether this will fix it, and whether this is stable on this release or not.
Midget_1990, I noticed you have posted in this forum, could you comment, or advise on your release A2DP and or this widcomm version on your ROM?

Try Widcomm stack, I have tested A2DP - works fine with new WM6 ROMs, and
sound quality is good

no idea, i dont have any a2dp hardware to test.
installed widcomm/bluetooth stack found on ftp site. still beta i thin as an ex project by a rom cooker which appears to work great.
apparently, may be caused by cooked roms using the wm5 drivers. not sure if true or not.
btw widcomm is heaps better functional user friendly than the ms crap. wonder why no-one trfrd over to hermes. anyway, avrcp? doesnt work, but sound is trfrd.
Broadcom stack phone call button
Hey,
does anyone have a problem answering calls with the button on the bt headset with this stack?

Guys,
What do you think if we have a new Bluetooth stack to our Uni?
It's Broadcom 1.8.7 Build 0600. So far I know it is the latest build from Broadcom.
This thread has been created using Internet Connection Sharing over Broadcom BT stack (1.8.7 Build 0600).
Cheers.

Hi Ranju!
I'm using currently the roadcomm stack provided by Helmi (UNIBT.cab) . It works well for me! I'm not at home this time, so I can't check the version of the build, but I'm sure that Helmi's is older! It would be cool if you could include the new stack in your ROM, or provide us just a cab file to install
Thanks for your great ROM too, Ranju!
BT Problem
How i understand the version on my BT stack - Broadcomm or other ?
Anyone can post a link to the cab for the latest BT ?

In my mind the widcomm/broadcomm stacks were the best! I have only one problem with them now. When I'm using the headset profile with Helmi's stack I can't receive or make calls using the BT headset, in fact I can't hear any audio at all. The other issue is that I believe that the headset button cannot be used to initiate microsoft voice command. If these issues can be resolved then I think there will be a mass following on this project!

I've started working on the latest Widcomm build. Basic part is working now.
Let's see ...
helmi's stack was ok, expect handsfree profile, if you will port newest version, and all necessary profiles (handsfree, a2dp, and others) will be working it would be great suprise for uni users
Do you make the Handfree profile working?
Few months ago, I've tried the 1.8.7 Build 300 combined with Helmi's old one, all ok but HF.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1731139&postcount=143
I DO think it's useless without HF.
Really expect your wonderful work!
How did you combine BT Stack v1.8.7.300 with the old? I can use any directions or help.

Any chance to have ActiveSync over BT working properly with this stack and your latest ROM?
Thank you for all your efforts!
Marco.
go ranju, go! seems like u r our only hope. other uni developers not so productive anymore now.
Last time I tried to install the Widcomm BT stack, it froze the phone after every bit of fiddling (i.e. after listening 1 minute of A2DP music, or after browsing the phone with FTP for 1 minute, etc)
Now that basic and some advanced profiles are also available for the MSBT stack, I don't miss the widcomm anymore.
Moreover, it's a pain in the ass to program! (i'm making a bluetooth-multiplayer game)

Where is it?
Whats the advantage that the broadcomm stack has over the MS stack? My BT is currently working perfectly (useing Ranju 7.4), A2DP works like a charm, calling thru the headset works fine. So why would we want to use another stack? (no rant, I'm really interested and want to know ;-)

It handles better with COM ports, and you can use even another phone as a BT modem for example. And the UI is much better
Hmmm... I would appriciate it. I'm struggeling with Helmi's Broadcomm BT stack, it complains about there not being enough memory. Though I do have more than 20Mb free.
And also, MS doesn't quiet work with stereo hands free either, it just stops after 5 secs. And I have tried a bunch of registry-tweaks.
So -I- for one, would appriciate work on a bluetooth stack that actually works, very much.
Thanks Ranju, for offering your work on this!
Thank you very much!

OK, maybe 4 you but for me the MS stack was ****ting with my GPS, i needed an hour to connect to my regular GPS! With Widcom it was just a click... And, for example with Ranju-s ROM you can't use another BT phone as a modem! Only with widcomm! (i know there are ROMs with MS BT wich CAN use other phone's internet conn. via BT...)
Is anybody testing this stack? Could we get a DL link to it? Thanx!

Hi as the title suggests I want to create an app to turn our phones into a bluetooth keyboard/mouse for pc/ps3
So any help I can get would be much appreciated. My biggest hurdle is understanding how the bluetooth stack works and how to emulate a bluetooth HID device. I'm finding it very hard to get any information.
Any one got any pointers?
there are already a couple of apps that do this.
mobile remote from mobileSRC is one of them.
Unfortunately mobile remote (dont know about the others) doesn't support the widcomm bluetooth stack found in new devices (like my rhodium)

I'm just about to get a touch pro 2 as well so thats one of the reasons why I would like to make my own app. It seems that the tech required to make this type of app isn't well known as I haven't been able to get any help/info anywhere. Hopefully I will stumble upon something and if that happens i'll upload something here
