Hi all,
I use this website for several years now, thank you all for sharing all your knowledges, roms, etc ...
Today it's my turn to propote my app
I made a music player with file browsing, 10 months ago, and I updated it.
Did you ever have music files without tags ? (for example ripped from your CDs)
Did you ever add some music in a "new music" folder in your memory card, without knowing exactly all the artist / albums ?
Do you know the "unknown artist" who sings the "Track 01", even if your file name is correct ?
For all those cases, this application will save you
I should work fine on your phone but many of you have custom roms so I would like to have feedbacks.
You can contact me at [email protected]
It should work with any roms,
The UI can support from small screens (320x240) to the biggest one (480x840).
Thank you,
See you !
nico.

Congrats
It seems quite nice.
Gonna try!
Thanks!

I've downloaded and tried this app. It definitely works.
What I would like to see is a design that is more sleek. The music player for 2.1 is a good example of what I'm talking about.

Looks soo cool & better than stock app.

I like it....would be cool to see some album art and maybe a paid version with no ads

seems like a decent app. the interface is very straigtforward and simple, but integrates well with sense. very cool that it is controllable through the applet (as it seems to to use the stock player for actual playback).
i have one suggestion: the fonts are unneccessary big in the file list, can you make them smaller or user selectable?

good to see more music players on the market, i wrote musicflow....

Looking good so far.
+1 for the album art and the graphics.
I have adfree running so can't see the advertising anyway, something you may want to think about because a lot of people have this program.
If I wanted adware i'd have a windows os

Any screens?

@cyberniko
Looks nice but after installation i started it and it gave me a FC on MCR 3.x ROM, didn't started any just launched app.

screenshot
nice as i am

...for convinience

Do you have the android SDK and avaibility to see the trace of the app ?
My problem is that I plug this app to the music service. This music service has not the same name with htc (because of sense) than in basic android device.
I look the name of the device to choose.
If the name, or the service has changed because of a custom rom, it can be a problem.
Do you have HTC sense on this ROM ?
I will try to look deeper into the device to make this choice... I let you know if I find something.

Can you describe debug proces , never done that before.
I can give you the output of it, maybe it helps.

Tested on hero, works great. It's a really good idea - I'm surprised nobody else thought of it first.
Also, I know this is the wrong part of the forum, but I figured since the dev checks this anyway, and to save time for myself, I'd post here. Tried on N1, force closes when I try pressing buttons.

can't test it for now
but does this app works if i uninstalled the default HTC music player??

@cyberniko,
Don't know what happend but i'm unable to reproduce that FC that i had.
I'll keep you posted.

great job!

Nice. I like this better than the stock

so i test it yesterday, and don't seems to work fo me (i recall that i uninstalled htcMusic.apk )
the app is running but saying that playlist is empty with no way to edit it (or i'm totally blind )

GTunes ?

Alright, just curious who'd be interested in an idea like this..
For some time now i've been playing with the iTunes back-end and became more and more interested in developing a "GTunes" (of course, an iTunes-like application for the G1)
With this application you'd be able to manage your music, sync it directly to your phone, manage contacts and ect..
What do you guys think? If it's worth it, i'll start a development svn for anyone else to pitch in.
I think something like this would be awesome as long as it syncs play lists too. I hate not being able to do that at all.
i would love an app as you describe that would be awesome.
yeah would be nice, would be nicer if you just wrote a plugin for foobar2000 or something rather trying to recreate the wheel...that way a more larger group of people can help
heres a link not sure if youve heard of it but its 100 times better than itunes and works on linux, windows, and im sure mac...and most importantly its open source

I already have it working on my phone matter a fact, just not officially a sync app
also banshee has is an app
oh that looks pretty sick, but not using Linux
That would be great, but it would be even better if it played videos as well and showed the movie poster artwork if you have it.
I just want to voice some desire for songbird, while we're throwing opensource music players out there.
I'd like that, but how would you get it to sync contacts etc? Maybe Google account integration? Will it be secure? Maybe use an App on the G1 that can be contacted through the app (Allowing for wifi sync)
Has anyone seen the iphones new app "Dtunes" where the media is DL'd directly to the phone?
Heres a random site talking about it: http://www.modmyi.com/forums/iphone-news/332221-dtunes-like-itunes-but-free.html
Well, as far as plugins go.. you can just use iTunes Agent (http://ita.sourceforge.net/)
i've been using it for weeks now and it works fine. but i want to do a stand alone G1 app.
Of course, i'd probably do a branch of an already made player of sorts.
I like the idea and frankly I don't care how its run as long as it works lol
Yeah I like the idea, if you want to do it I think alot of people would use it!
Just write an Android plugin for Songbird. http://getsongbird.com/
Don't just write it for the G1, think of all the other Android users there will be.

I have two partitions on my SD-card, the first is ext2 with 400MB, used for installing apps by the integrated Apps2SD coming with Cyanogen 4.0.4, the second is vfat with 6 GB, I wanted to put my music here.
When I connect my phone to the PC, Banshee shows the vfat partition with at least 5200 MB free space, after a few seconds Banshee (or my Ubuntu Linux system?) creates a music folder on the ext2 partition and switches over to this partition with 295 MB free space..
Does anybody know how I can make Banshee use the second partition for copying music?
I don't want to hijack haykuro's thread here but I've already got songbird syncing with my G1 almost perfectly (I still have to copy playlists over manually...)
Just use the foldersync plugin PM me if you have any questions so we don't flood this thread with OT stuff...
haykuro - your idea sounds good - would it be a windows app or linux or something...? Since I switched from WinMo to android, I've dumped windows on my laptop too

Smiffy.

[APP] Netfront Life Screen Launcher

Found this floating around the web & thought I'd share, they have a very interesting UI it's rather different.
A home app replacement with an easy-to-use interface that delivers previews of social network updates as well as phone services data. Pick a service, such as Facebook or Twitter, to see recent updates. Choose Call History or Contacts to call someone. Use the app launcher cube to quickly find any installed app and launch it.
Based around a single circle of icons, you can control every aspect of your phone with a single screen. Two to be exact The second of which is the screen that holds all your applications in a very slick cube design.

PLEASE NOTE: I am not the developer of this app I'm just sharing.
The youtube vid looked pretty cool so i downloaded it to my eris, but when i try to open it gives me an error message and force closes.
Same thing on CDMA Hero.
Tried it on my N1 but found it isn't that smooth....
Love the idea, and it looks great, but it's laggy even on my speedy DX.
kinda nice, thanks for sharing
hope they improve
Yeah, gave it a shot on my Nexus this morning. Needs some smoother animation, more widgets and wallpaper changer.
It looks nice, just not for me.

I'd also like to be able to change out the buttons on the circle app launcher, as some of them can't be removed.
Thanks, about to try it out
I downloaded it yesterday, and I must say I love the concept. It's not too smooth on my Droid 1, even overclocked to 1.25GHz using Slayher's Kernel running Team D1-MIUI.
I haven't had many problems. Only problem is that the widget I selected doesn't always appear and when it restarts, it takes a while for it to start.
its alight...a bit choppy on my vibrant but after some streamlining and if you had the option to customize things it could be pretty cool.
Installed but decided to decline the T & C's, now uninstalled. Is it commonplace for apps to use the email address and name of the handset owner? Perhaps I'm being overcautious.
Can anyone set a different mirror or send this to me, had a problem with the original download and now it won't let me download it....

REALLY slow and buggy on my Mytouch Slide. :/
I'll wait until all the kinks are worked out...
Interesting concept. Would be a good basic OS for some basic phones (non android).. Perhaps flash based etc.
A bit slow and laggy here and there with my Galaxy S. A bit too 'fiddly' for my liking. Good to show off, but too hard to access things quickly.
I used it for some days but you can only have 2 custom icons and you can't remove mixi (japanese social website), the music one play only musics 1 per one and it can't be used on backgrond (it use the one you sometimes have when trying to listen some songs on the phone but not the full featured one)
I've sent my review hopping that they will improve these
its very buggy XD got desire
A bit laggy on my DHD when i swipe to scroll. but when i select an item it scrolls there fast, nice and clean.
Just downloaded and it works fine on my unlocked/rooted N1. Running the latest MoDaCo FRG83D ROM.
Once everything is cached, it runs pretty smooth on both my Captivate and Tab. Icons are pixelated from being stretched on the Tab though.
Major gripe is not being able to have music playing while doing anything else. Definitely going to check out the updates though.
Thanks OP for the find!

Thought I would post some progress on the collaborative project between my BF (Stev-o) and myself on our Android Music Program!!!!!
*Also can be found on my Blog at DoesItPew.blogspot.com*
This program need some more rework and a UI....however most of the functions are working decently well. You can use Voice to text for searching or type it in (personally I like using my Swype keyboard). This will generate the individual songs and playlists instantly playable by your media player of choice! Please comment on stuff that just does not work or any suggestions, only been working on this for like 2 months between about 5-6 different projects and working full time (BF is a grad student).
Search for a song on your phone by any information:
This program allows you to find any song on your phone by any metadata about the song. Want to find every song made in 1974? Type in "1974" and you will see a list of all the songs sang in 1974 from your library! Can you only remember pat of a song name or artist name? Type it in and see the results when you hit search! It really is that easy and you won't spend all that time scrolling through menus to find that perfect song for that perfect moment.
Search by Humming or Singing:
This feature is enabled through the use of the NSF funded TuneBot project by Bryan Pardo at Northwestern University. TuneBot is a crowdsourced Sound-Hound alternative that is Free, Open, and Ever-Ex panding. You can contribute to the Database by playing KaraokeCallout on your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch and play a game too. It is free and highly reccomended. Plus the more you play, the better this program becomes and the bigger the database of songs is! You will see a VU meter pop-up when you try to hum, just make sure it does not go all red when singing as that means that you have had some clipping. This will show you the best matches from your phone music as well as best overall online results if you do not happen to have the song on your device (so that you can get it online - ie Youtube).
Search by Lyrics:
Can't remember the name of that song, but you can remember the refrain? Man, who knew that "Teenage Wasteland" was really "Baba O'Riley" ? The lyric search is provided by Leo's Lyrics and is Super Fast! Just like the searching for Metadata feature, you can type or speak your query. This will return the best matches from your Music on your device as well as the best matches online like the Humming feature.
Here is the Program: http://www.sendspace.com/file/yqg8n5
Sideload it
Background and Future Work:
Basically this project stemmed out of my boyfriend not having bluetooth in his car like I do in mine. He wanted to have voice control instead of fudging with buttons and scrolling through lists every time he wanted to listen to something. Plus, he is pretty mood-music kind of guy and never bothers to put together a playlist. In the future we hope to have voice commands added so that you can be in your car and say "Mix Country and Rap" and to will start playing all of your Country and Rap music for example. Eventally, would be very cool to have voice command dialing of phone numbers too.
Any suggestions, comments and such would be appreciated. I know it is rough and we are working on it y'all!
*EDIT NEW APK WITH ADDITIONAL FEATURES!!!!!!!*
Sounds great, but does Not install ob 2.3 on hd2 :/
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA Premium App
EDIT:could install but forces closes when trying Tor Start :/
Yeah, I have only tested on 2.1 and 2.2 since we have Evo's.
This is VERY good to know - wonder why it does not install on 2.3? I will work on the code more.
Really like the idea
I'll try to install it on my desire z in a bit (also with 2.3).
installed fine on cm7 nightly 23 but f/c's a lot
Updated code. you will find that now the single song selection feature in near instantanious and works great on gingerbread. No weird closing stuff!

This is a great idea! Just downloaded, everything seems to work ok, except for videos, they don't seem to load & streaming music files gives me a "Skipping file error", in this case, I just refresh the player & the files start streaming
Looking forward to the 1.0.25 release.

Some video file types aren't compatible, but the majority are. You can just download the ones that wont stream and play them. The "skipping files error" is related to your internet connection. Try using 4G or WiFi if possible. (or a wired connection to the computer) it should help. Were working on the new version so hopefully it will drop soon.
Issue that I have found.
So the one issue that I have found so far is that when I'm just looking through "Files" and I have a pictures file set up. Once I go into that I can see all of my sub folders, then once I enter the sub folder to look at the pictures it just times out and says that my computer at home that is hosting the files must not be online. This only happens when on 4g, if on wifi then I can pull up the pictures and scroll through them pretty much like I'm in the gallery of my phone. Also have video issues but I'm pretty sure that is related to the file types that I have, everything works GREAT if I use my laptop at work and go through the browser. This is a great app and program. Thanks for this.

Happy to share. I too have noticed a few minor bugs but for the most part it works great. There is a new version out that Dodava is in the process of patching to work on our phones (much harder then it sounds) and I believe it includes several bug fixes.

Cyanogenmod 9 Music Player Available Now

SOURCE : Kickedface
Fans of custom ROMs may already know that there’s a rewritten version of the standard Android music app coming to CyanogenMod 9. Well, the wait’s over, and you can download an alpha version of “Apollo” now.
Click here for the APK file – you don’t even have to be rooted, just install it via the standard non-Market method. Unfortunately, you still need an ICS device to use it. Source : Android Central

Apollo takes quite a lot of inspiration from Google Music, though there’s currently no way to actually access your music stored in the cloud. The interface has a lot in common with Google’s own player, though the color scheme is an off white.
Theme support is planned for the project. At present there’s not a whole lot that Apollo can do that even older versions of the default music player can’t, with the notable exception of a built-in equalizer.
One of the more glaring omissions is the lack of a landscape mode, a big disappointment to anyone who listens to music while their phone is in a car dock. Even so, it should be a solid alternative when it’s finished – lockscreen controls are already enabled, I will suggest you to give it a try if you’re looking for something a little different in your music player.
I hope that still the issues get sorted out soon.
There are already many things that need to change and the more I use it, the longer the list becomes.
Nice alternative to the stock music player, it's "recently added" tracks view is a nice feature when you're adding tons of music a day ^_^
I can't get it to work via AVRCP and the bluetooth in my car, but that may be a ROM limitation because no other app will work either >_>

My bad just saw it on the site after I posted this comment already.
Really excited about the app finally some real super app for music: D
I used it for a couple months before it was rebranded Apollo, the dev never updated it, and it was buggy as hell. Now they took away the holo blue theme? Probably so they can release it as a paid add-on. FAIL. There are half a dozen better music apps than this.
Thanks for your sharing..
