[APP] Netfront Life Screen Launcher - Android Apps and Games

Found this floating around the web & thought I'd share, they have a very interesting UI it's rather different.
A home app replacement with an easy-to-use interface that delivers previews of social network updates as well as phone services data. Pick a service, such as Facebook or Twitter, to see recent updates. Choose Call History or Contacts to call someone. Use the app launcher cube to quickly find any installed app and launch it.
Based around a single circle of icons, you can control every aspect of your phone with a single screen. Two to be exact The second of which is the screen that holds all your applications in a very slick cube design.

PLEASE NOTE: I am not the developer of this app I'm just sharing.

The youtube vid looked pretty cool so i downloaded it to my eris, but when i try to open it gives me an error message and force closes.

Same thing on CDMA Hero.

Tried it on my N1 but found it isn't that smooth....

Love the idea, and it looks great, but it's laggy even on my speedy DX.

kinda nice, thanks for sharing
hope they improve

Yeah, gave it a shot on my Nexus this morning. Needs some smoother animation, more widgets and wallpaper changer.
It looks nice, just not for me.

I'd also like to be able to change out the buttons on the circle app launcher, as some of them can't be removed.

Thanks, about to try it out

I downloaded it yesterday, and I must say I love the concept. It's not too smooth on my Droid 1, even overclocked to 1.25GHz using Slayher's Kernel running Team D1-MIUI.
I haven't had many problems. Only problem is that the widget I selected doesn't always appear and when it restarts, it takes a while for it to start.

its alight...a bit choppy on my vibrant but after some streamlining and if you had the option to customize things it could be pretty cool.

Installed but decided to decline the T & C's, now uninstalled. Is it commonplace for apps to use the email address and name of the handset owner? Perhaps I'm being overcautious.

Can anyone set a different mirror or send this to me, had a problem with the original download and now it won't let me download it....

REALLY slow and buggy on my Mytouch Slide. :/
I'll wait until all the kinks are worked out...

Interesting concept. Would be a good basic OS for some basic phones (non android).. Perhaps flash based etc.
A bit slow and laggy here and there with my Galaxy S. A bit too 'fiddly' for my liking. Good to show off, but too hard to access things quickly.

I used it for some days but you can only have 2 custom icons and you can't remove mixi (japanese social website), the music one play only musics 1 per one and it can't be used on backgrond (it use the one you sometimes have when trying to listen some songs on the phone but not the full featured one)
I've sent my review hopping that they will improve these

its very buggy XD got desire

A bit laggy on my DHD when i swipe to scroll. but when i select an item it scrolls there fast, nice and clean.

Just downloaded and it works fine on my unlocked/rooted N1. Running the latest MoDaCo FRG83D ROM.

Once everything is cached, it runs pretty smooth on both my Captivate and Tab. Icons are pixelated from being stretched on the Tab though.
Major gripe is not being able to have music playing while doing anything else. Definitely going to check out the updates though.
Thanks OP for the find!

Just got the Captivate

I just bought the captivate yesterday, What tweaks should I do and is it a must to root the phone to sideload apps? and what apps and widgets should I download, I remember some from my nexus one but Im hoping some of you can help me with great apps and games
First of all, CONGRATS on buying this sexy phone !
Ok I'd recommend you first check out the "Pimp my Captivate" thread that's stickied at the top, and download the pdf.
When you reach the step where you have to root your phone, don't.
Instead flash the Unleash the Beast rom/update
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=751182
Then continue on with the guide as normal, with the exception that you don't have to root anymore, remove the att apps, or use a side load script since there's instruction how to enable it after flashing the Unleash the Beast.
i'm not much of a gamer but depending on how old you are, you might remember labyrinth. that is a pretty fun game to me. the samsung user interface (Touchwiz 3.0) to me was pretty neat, but Launcherpro is much much better. its much more customizable, and the fact that you can have 7 screens + 3 dockbars makes it near impossible for you to run out of room for shortcuts. some people will say that you will need to have an all black background to preserve your battery life, i disagree with it, as i am running live backgrounds like Galaxy without a problem. If youre willing to pay for any apps the first one that i recommend is Beautiful Widgets as it has tons and tons of skins for the weather and clock widget on your home screen.
I rooted mine as it was a simple process, and tried a couple of the lag fixes. if you are happy with the speed of your phone, then dont mess with any of those fixes imo.
I recommend setting up Pandora if you havent already, as well as iheartradio. and ive been using ringdroid to clip songs into ringtones as well.
my captivate lags sometimes, not as smooth as the nexus, will the lag fix help? for example when i put that live wallpaper with the leaves and the water that was also on the nexus, it lags alot when moving from one homescreen page to the next. Also I saw a really great wallpaper from the original galaxy with the water rippling, is there any way to get it on the captivate and also the avatar movie from the vibrant
also is there any way to stop the phone from vibrating with the swype and samsung keyboard?
I also Agree, beautiful widgets has a weather animation, and many skins.
I paired up the Droid Does skin, with the Droid X Live wallpaper
Here's a pic

what launcher are u using with the droid x theme, adw or launcherpro, btw which one is better. I still havnt tryed adw, I had launcher pro on my n1
Launcherpro is where it's at, when you download it customize it and find the option to enable 3d app drawer- it's great!
You can find the Droid X Live Wallpaper here (many different colors)
forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6952878&postcount=13
But for the DROID does clock/weather widget, you need to download or "find" beautiful widgets.
Like I said before though, flash the unleash the beast rom, it's makes the Captivate way faster, and your life easier.
So did anyone ever tell you how to get the avatar movie from the vibrant to work on the captivate? I have the file saved on my phone but can't get it to play.

Opera Mobile Beta released!

You can find it here:
ftp://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/android/mobile/10.1/
Have fun!
Edit:
Strange Version though, no flash support -.- But the interface is really fast!
It's pretty big! Even with the build in A2SD it's 14MB or so, but pretty cool all the same. Thanks!
I dig its speed, but I do not dig its rendering lag when using pinch to zoom.
Preciate you!good look. Downloaded it just in case they decide to pull it down
Download Opera_Mobile_10.1_beta.apk for free on Filesonic.com

Works pretty well. Rendering is noticeably better than the mini version.
Gosh, it's quick and stable for a beta. However, the rendered images are a bit compressed. Why is that?

Pinch to zoom is working for you? It is not for me
Actually, I will be frank. The pitch to zoom works really well, and the rendering lag on my Hero is less than 2 seconds. So I don't feel much punch anyway.
Was rendering the BBC News UK Site.
It's in the market know

Another link : eurodroid.com/Opera_Mobile_10.1_beta.apk in case the official one gets closed down or you don't have access to Market.
Downloaded from Market on my Galaxy Tab (20 MB install !!).
Crashes instantly on startup, despite being on Droid Wall WIFI whitelist. Oh well....I'm happy with Dolphin HD and xScope anyways
EDIT: ah, apparently it doesn't crash in landscape mode !! See link below:

finally =D
this could probably be the point why i change to android now.
the opera mobile browser was always the best i found, not only fast in browsing, its even fast to handle, i mean, tab switching is so easy and fast, so much faster than on standard android browser, and i dont need pinch to zoom, cause opera mobile on winmo got so awsome one tap, double tab zoom...
i hope the android version will be like that too ))
gonna use it today..
Bad
stock browser is faster, renders better, supports flash, and DOES display non-latin fonts.
this one feels like the firefox beta... unstable and not for everyday use. hope the final is better i had huge expectation from the GPU acceleration support in opera.
Its way too huge. hopefully they shrink it down like firefox.
It doesn't work on GT540 Eclair.
wow am disappointed.
Was looking forward to this since I like syncing my desktop links with my mobile rowser and the availability of organizing bookmarks into folders.
But on first pass, this thing is VERY beta. Images would not load, pages loaded slower than the stock browser and it just felt buggy overall. Feels more like an alpha release than beta. Hope they can improve it.

It's real Eye Candy. I've tried many builds already, and this is surely one of the most, if not THE better looking rom I've tried. It's also very stable, at least for me. I have absolutely NO force closes, shutdowns or random reboots at all. The cons are the battery consumption seems high, at least to me, and under Wi-Fi, when the apps are updating and the widgets refreshing, especially the if your contact list has hundreds of facebook contacts like mine does, then it can become real laggy while the updates are going on. On the other hand, without the updating process going on is incredibly smooth and doesn't lag at all, not even a little bit. So far I'm very satisfied overall.

[APP]TI-89 Calculator Emulator

A TI-89 emulator. Not TI-83, not TI-86 - TI-89.

You need your own ROM to make it work. Got a calculator already? Pull the ROM and load it into Graph89. Don't have one? The ROM is located on THEIR website. Here.

Very nice and welcome app.
For an alfa it works quite well in my SGS2 although the size of the calculator is a bit small.
The developer is aware of that and it should be solved on next releases.
The rom can be downloaded directly from the ti site:

It's like that for everyone I'm pretty sure. Hopefully screen space can be better used.
Do we use the titanium(v3.10) or just regular (v2.09) version?
so this will not work for the ti-84 right?
nvm i completely missed the point lol
Been using this for a few weeks now on my touchpad.
Friend of mine wants to use it in her tutoring job. She says that in actual use it is very slow. Is there any chance that there will be upcoming speed and performance improvements?
Sent from my HP Touchpad.
Awesome
I had the emulator on my old MDA like 4-5 years ago, and my teacher flipped out back then. I just graduated this summer so I won't be using it everyday but i already downloaded and gota dust off my TI to get the rom files, this brings back so many memories. awesome
this is the best news I got today. Been using Andy's 86 an making due (rarely carry my calculator into the field) Was hoping someone would make an emmy for the 89. btw, if not mentioned, the Titanium Rom appears to work. I haven't tried all of it out, of course, but the basic stuff does fine. Some thing's I'd change, the UI - the letters are a bit hard to read in purple. And the haptic feedback, I'd like to be able to turn off.
Been looking for someone to do this from a while works great, get more use out of my Elocity A7.
Great work
Would this app be capable of running assembly games? I know there are a million better games to play right from the android market, but just for the nostalgia of it all, I would love to load up some assembly games onto the calc emulator.
Anyone tried this?
The screen area on the Galaxy Nexus is really small, but the other UI components are normal sized. I'm guessing this is a resolution issue?
Really nice app, ima give it a shot.
Thanks for sharing!
It works great on my Kindle Fire running CM9. As others have said, it's not the best use of screen space - on my phone it's hardly usable, but on the Fire it's a big enough screen to be very nice, just like the real thing.
I was waiting for this since I own my Nexus S. Thank you so much for doing this.
Do you think it would be possible, to make this emu Voyage200 capable? It is the same hardware like the 89 but with a bigger screen and especially more keys.
This is a great work! But the resolution is very small on my Desire HD.
Great! It would be nice if it fills all the screen.
wow this is a nice app. no need to bring calc anymore
This is not my app. XD I am just posting this so people know its out there.

That look pretty useful.
It's pretty cool! Works pretty well with light browsing, pretty quick so far. Handles multiple windows alright, could definitely use some optimization for swapping/switching/minimizing. Worth a buck or two to support development here, I use their floating calculator all the time.
---------- Post added at 09:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:34 PM ----------
On latest nightly for EOS, non-overskreen btw.
Since they've done it for three apps now, does this mean it's a feature that any app can get? I wonder how easy it is for devs to stitch their code into their own apps so that their apps can be windowed in the same way..
Looks good...
Just grabbed it to support the developers..
Looks like we have two tracks of multi windows going neck to neck..
Can only be a positive outcome for android as a whole..

I picked it up, too. After Stick It!, I didn't hesitate.
I wonder if email, calendar and/or tasks apps are on the horizon from this cat.
For me, and maybe for others in countries that don't have paid apps.
I had to push it to my phone from the website market..
Once brought for phone was able to download for tab..
If I was the developer I would be licensing the code..for me most of my work apps..pdf, office, notes, calender..are all on the wish list..

Bought it too. Very impressive and smooth.

That's a known limitation : Z orders of such windows can't be modified afterwards. The latest will always be the one at the top
Wow, now this is COOL! Hell, the way things are going, who needs Cornerstone!!!
I had previously purchased the "Stick it!" video player (windowed video player by same people) and have used the free windowed calculator as well, but I see the windowed web browser being much more useful! I don't know how many times I wanted to type an email while being able to look at a web page at the same time!
Picked this up as well after reading this thread. Pretty awesome! Have had a couple of qualms about it after a few FC's and a non page load issue. Still gonna be useful in class.

Don't know if anyone noticed, but you can also "double-click" on the title bar of the browser window to have the window "roll-up' like a blind so that just the title bar is visible (you can also move the title bar around in this mode). Great for "hiding" and un-hiding a window quickly!
Good stuff! Flash even works in it!
