Personally I use Opera Mini - cant stand Mobile - but I am curious to what other people are using and what the balance really is.
I've only used Mini briefly, but I found it to be unbearably sluggish compared wih Mobile. The zoomed-out page was also lacking in detail - text reduced to a horizontal line. I'm using my HD2's built-in Mobile 9.7 at the moment. I may switch to Mobile 10 when it comes out of beta - current version is a little too unstable for me. But I'd miss pinch-to-zoom.
I did have some problems with Mobile 10 on my Touch Pro2 - it used so much memory the whole phone ended up grinding to a halt. But on the HD2 it's very slick.
Really depends on which phone you have, on QVGA devices Mini makes a lot more sense but on VGA and WVGA the mini rendering is unusable.

Basics: I can't seem to get Internet pages to view properly. Many are too large for my screen or are forced zoom in/out.
More Details: I'm using a HTC 6900 with Sprint Service and unlimited data. I've been through many ROM's, but ever since I went to WM 6.1 my Internet pages have not been loading like they did with WM 5. I am currently using NFSFAN's WM 6.5 v13. I have also tried Opera Mobile and it also seems to have the same problems. I have searched these forums and the ppcgeeks forums with no luck and only 1 or 2 mentions of the problem so maybe its a rare occurrence? I have tried both Mobile View and Desktop View options and neither corrects the problem.
Examples: ESPN Mobile website now has to be scrolled sideways to see entire page where as before it would fit-to-screen. Same occurs with afterdawn mobile. Slashdot mobile will not even load into any sort of mobile view, just gives me the normal website view.
I believe you have IE6 on your ROM, which means it will render differently since it is designed as a desktop browser. If you want old IE you'll have to change to a 6.1 or earlier ROM most likely.
Opera Mobile can be customized by going to aboutpera in the address bar(or used in mobile view mode in settings).
If you want awesome mobile browser, though, get Opera Mini. It is Java, so get a good Midlet Manager, like the latest jBed. It renders everything well in QVGA (like your device) and works perfectly for mobile pages.
There are other browser options but I definitely prefer the Operas.
For those of you who have been working on early builds of Windows Mobile 6.5, I was wondering if you might know whether a program that was designed for WM5 (using the sidebar scrolling) can utilize the flick scrolling that I see working on the home screen for WM6.5. Does a program have to utilize this feature or is it native to WM6.5 so that any older program can use it? Thanks.
Not quite sure how the WM6.5 scrolling works, but I think it *should* make pages flick-scrollable (it seems acceptable for 2009...)
You can try out FTouchSL (www.ftouchsl.com), or SPB Pocket Plus (http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/pocketplus).
They both cost money.
Though I advise you to eventually upgrade to a newer phone, WM7 is coming up!
While I would like to wait for WM7, I need to update my old 8125 because the mini USB port broke and the RAM memory is too low to support certain programs. Programs such as Epocrates on the WM platform are still running with side bar scrolling (the interface on the iPhone is much nicer) and I'm wondering if finger scrolling would work even though Epocrates was made for scrolling using a Dpad (which many phones lack) or stylus friendly side bar scrolling. Esword is another program made the same way. Anyone try the early versions of WM6.5 with older programs that have such limitations?
Hi.
I'm using a really beautiful SPV M5000 device for about 24 hours and i'm having serious problems. My previous device was a blueangel with 128mb ram and now with the universal i feel very limited.
I'm currently using tomal's 8.5 rom (wm 6.1) and i'm having about 26mb of free ram. This amount of free ram makes the device almost unusable. I can't use opera 10 mobile even with one tab open. I used to have about 3 tabs open in blueangel.
How are you dealing with this issue? Which rom leaves the biggest free amount of ram?
I'm not willing to do a hardware update of ram to the device.
If the old fashioned way of memory handling in windows mobile 2003 was possible (HTC alpine etc.) the Universal could be much better. Could a page file (like in desktop computers) be used in windows mobile?
Thanks in advance!....

WM5 will give you the biggest amount of free RAM
I've found a much better browser than opera 10.
Netfront v4 ...
Universal has a big screen with a high resolution...
Opera is a "small screen"-oriented web browser. My universal is now perfect..
I'm using WM6.1 CE 21055.1.6.8 by Ngochoangimsat.

Yeah... at first I like those version of ROM by Ngochoangimsat, but too bad there's no Internet Sharing, or can't share my internet connection to other devices.
Hey Guys,
I have ben using Tomal's V12 64mb for ages and am thinking of changing the browers to Opera, Although afert looing on teh opera website i found that there are two browers that can run on Uni:
Opera Mini
Opera Mobile
i would like some help to fiind out which of the is better!
I prefer Opera mobile over mini.
This is the version I have found more stable: Opera Browser 9.70.35627.0
Check my sig opera official thread and you´ll find all you need
Thanks
will try and report back
Yes, Opera Mobile is a bit better because it can handle Flash, and JS with a better way than Mini one. Same as orb3000 said Opera 9.7 is bettter I think because Mobile doesn't load websites for me or when downloading timer is there(ew. on rapidsaher free) it can load it. Mobile 10 missing that timer and Mini has it but it's not working. Btw. Opera Turbo is bit bugged because you must turn it off before saving images or downloading files. And best of all it works fine on 64mb RAM Uni (without upgrade). Good choice is Skyfire too. You can check it at www.skyfire.com and I really recommend it with a new version of 1.5.
Is there a Opera 10 version for the Leo with Multitouch?
No, there is not.
install Zoomer app
Zoomer is an okay workaround but it doesn't refocus the pages when zoomed in so things look pixelated when you use it. I'm hoping Opera releases a multi-touch version soon.
You can hope, but Windows Phone 7 is coming and support for Windows Mobile is almost dead now.

Despite the fact that WP7 is months away, WM6 will still be supported as long as people have WM6 phones and will buy software for them. WP7 is not the successor to WM6 - they're different platforms.
Back to the OP.

Opera 10 was not made for the HD2, whereas Opera 9.7 was. Hence the lack of multi-touch.
I saw this and was playing around with the Opera 10 Beta that NRG cooks into his Energy ROMs. This Opera actually allows for multi-touch. I am able to pinch-to-zoom in slightly when in far out zoom, and again a little more when in full in zoom.
Not sure which build of beta he is cooking into his ROMs as the 'About Opera' only states that its 10 beta. But yes, this Opera allows for a slight bit of pinch-to-zoom.
*Edit* After some thought, this just maybe something enabled in BsB Tweaks...
