Kind Regards !
I saw a TCPMP plugin for subtitles somewhere... you could always look for that.

Dear drewX2,
I am already using tcpmp and coreplayer but although i am happy with core player, tcpmp sucks at playing avi files with subtitles in gdi mode because of low frame rate. I am a guy watching avis with subtitles. Before HD2, i have i8000 Omnia2 and touch player was great both for performance and image quality. I am just looking for a chance try touch player on my HD2. I have found the cab and installed but because of certificate issues it didnt work. Hope someone will help us to port Touch Player of HD2. thanks in advance...
Here is the cab file: ( not working because of certificate )
Kind Regards

Well, don't use GDI mode, then.
Set the Video renderer to DirectDraw, then go into the DirectDraw settings page, set the overlay format to YUY2, untick the top two checkboxes and tick "use device stretching". See if that's an improvement on GDI.

Dear Shasarak,
But with DirectDraw mode, Tcpmp cant show subtitles as you know, so directdraw mode is useless for me. So there is only one chance remains for us; to port TouchPlayer to HD2. Thanks in advance.
Kind Regards...
SmartMovie has subtitle support. Google for it and enjoy

Hi
are some tweaks do be done to use coreplayer or tcmp on the TP?
Coreplayer (1.20) plays sound but with a blackscreen and when i click on Tcmp(.71 and .81) i get an error message.
Anyone can help ?
Thanks
TCPMP .72RC1 with Flashbundle 1.4.4 works for me. Latest version of Coreplayer works for me too.
I had problems until someone pointed me at TCPMP-0.72RC1-ARM-PPC-recomp-03.CAB... search Google for it.
I use Coreplayer 1.2.5 (build 4506) and it works perfect. What kind of problems do you have with it?

What kind of files are you trying to play?
In Core, change video from settings to DirectDraw. So you see picture also.

Same for me. I have a swe 1.90 ROM.
The above TCPMP plus some tweaks work like a charm!
Thank you guys ,tcpmp is working now( i installed the cab you mentionned).
But are they tweaks to do to have a fluent picture with no lag ?

Can someone please post some basic settings for Coreplayer on Raphael that give best performance? I know it depends on the video being played, but if there are any 'must have settings', I would appreciate it.
Thanks!
I found that even using TCPMP the playback from an AVI was still a touch blocky on full screen updates, this was not so on my previous Mini S.
With Core Player it's fine, checking the video settings Core Player has a video setting called 'Qtv Display' this seems really smooth but the downside appears to be that the brightness/contrast settings appear disabled in this mode.
Setting Core Player back to Direct Draw enables the brightness/contrast settings but then returns full screen playback to the same quality of TCPMP.
I'm going to brighten the AVI's with VirtualDub and leave Core Player in QTv mode.

Many thanks for your input. Anyone else have experiences to share?
well im not sure where you all payed for your coreplayers since everytime i go to the site it asks me to buy but a friend sent me a version of it and i followed most of the suggestions ppl made about settings and find that HD avi files still are a bit choppy.
not sure if there's any fix or setting changes that fix it or not

Dang, I wrote out a long post, but after I clicked submit reply, xda wanted me to log in again, and I lost 4 paragraphs.
Anyway, long story short, I increased the buffer size by 10 times and it helped for one specific video that I was having trouble with. Most of my other videos still get low framerates during scenes with high movement (e.g. car chase scenes, fight scenes).
Maybe an expert can elucidate how to tweak these players or direct us to a website/thread with tips for Video/Buffering settings to get better framerates. In the meantime, I'll keep googling.
I'm still on stock ROM, using TF3D to scroll videos, which is choppy. They play fine via HTC Album and WMP, but TCPMP chokes. I've tried xvid avis and small (10MB) MP4s.
I've tried setting the buffer, tweaking the video render mode, Disable AVC deblocking filter, Override AVI frame rate based on audio. Any thoughts?
PS, running recomp version 3.
On my HD I could play AVI files using Core Player, on the HD2 the same files play the audio but the viseo is:
1. In small screen very "liney" and doubled, 2 images side by side.
2. In full screen the screen is blank.
Any ideas?
maybe u have to set "directdraw" instead "qtv" in video settings
Actually, I do not understand why people want to keep on using Core Player.
The best movie player is already embedded in the HD2 itself in Photos/Videos album, because it has hardware acceleration.
CorePlayer is now a very old-fashioned software (2007) and the latest versions (1.35 and 1.36 are quite buggy).
Play your mp4 with the HTC video player and you will really see the difference.

yes true but to play divx or xvid files, coreplayer is still the best one,you dont need to convert it in mp4 and 1.36 is working just fine on my leo without bugs

i got coreplayer to work perfect only with these settings
in preferences-->select page--->video---> than select GDI and smooth zoom
any different setup would show pixelated image(video)
While we're talking about CorePlayer, can it show subs? If so how?
Have searched through every settings now but i can't find any settings for subs.
If not, is there a player that plays DivX Xvid's with subs in srt or sub format?
CorePlayer plays almoast everything i can think of, and are working fine on HD2 here to.. Is CorePlayer dead now or what?
i don't think coreplayer can play subs , but tcpmp can...however i didn't try it on my hd2 and don't know if it works
tcpmp works fine set to either gdi or rawframebuffer
not tried subs but they should work too
biggest benefit of tcpmp over coreplayer is the price

Tcpmp works, you can use srt (and I think smi) subtitles. You have to use GDI as video driver to see them.
Colors
Do you like the colors of coreplayer (or tcpmp) out of the box?
I had to change them to custom, raise the contrast a bit and lower the brightness.
I find HTC album images a bit too dark instead (but I can't change)

ummm......ain't wma files audio only files?
For those who might be desirous to buy CorePlayer 1.36 I strongly recommand to be patient.
Indeed CorePlayer 1.36 is a dying software. CoreCodec is currently finalizing a version 2.0.
It would be useless to waste €30 on v1.36 now and probably have to pay later for v2.0.

Yo guys. i have installed both players on my leo. i like the tcpmp player the best because you can have ac3 plugin and subtitles. BUT its like it plays with a lower framerate than coreplayer? the fact is that movies exactly feels a bit too laggy so it gets annoying when watching on the tcpmp player. any know why or maybe got a solution?
regards alf
Same dilemma for me...

any got a solution to the laggy tcpmp?

there is no solution. coreplayer comes later and it's more optimized, but it doesn't have ac3 and subtitles support. Give and take....
just to add to the debate, this hd2 which I'm writing from, during a benchmark on tje opening of sex&the city, had 170+% speed in coreplayer, and 90-% in tcpmp...looks prety normal to me, asv previous poster sais, coreplayr developent went on, while tcpmp has stopped some years ago
a little OT question...what type of subs tcpmp read? because i tryed with tons of SRT but i dont understand how to let theme works
http://forum.corecodec.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=155
That thread talks of AC3 support via a purchasable plugin, confirmed as being in development by one of the developers back in 2007. However, it constantly got put back by the look of it until in the end the thread was locked after a very good point regarding the lack of a Coreplayer demo by the last poster. Shame.

I think it's a problem related to the use of cpu. If you launch tcpmp just after a boot (before it scales down to about 400 Mhz) you'll see that it is faaaast (yesterday I used this method to watch a 960x400 divx AC3). It remain fast as long as you don't leave the phone to go to rest...
I usually use Coreplayer, this method when I have a movie with subtitle or AC3

You have to use the right version and use GDI (if I remember correctly) as video driver.
Srt are ok, with older versions you had to use smi files (you could use subtitle workshop to convert them)
Check this thread for a TCPMP player that works fine on HD2

+1 for coreplayer or TCPMP. Why take the time to convert videos when you can simply play them?
I bought coreplayer ... It's the one for me and a good prize too
Tried coreplayer and it's having problem in my unit, the video will be messed up and has to restart don't know why.
This video converter is very good, with the ability to re-sync audio (not that I have needed to yet). It was developed for the HD by an xda member. But yeah, TCPMP or Coreplayer will work if you don't want to convert it.
Thanks gotta give it another try.

Switch your video codec to DirectDraw then it will work like charm. Look for more tweaks in coreplayer forum.

Oh thanks but please let me know how to change video codec.
COREPLAYER: Menu > Tools > Settings > Select Page > Video > Video Output - change to DirectDraw
TCPMP: Options > Video > DirectDraw
In coreplayer, just make sure that a video is NOT playing when you do this....it tends to crash and forces you to do a soft reset (at least it does for me!)
I have no probs playing flv with coreplayer or TCPMP, I just prefer Coreplayer.
Thanks so much, actually GDI codec works for me but there's still very slight sync issue for some videos.
You may also want to try Chainfire's 3d drivers (if you haven't already)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=592663 (not the beta drivers - yet!)
Some people have said it improves DirectDraw performance in Coreplayer, but I never had any problems before, so I can't really say yes or no to that! The drivers do help with other apps too, so I would say they are worth installing anyway.
I think there is a known problem with the HD2 and video/audio sync, but again (lucky me), I've never noticed it.
