Archos 5 apps? - Nexus One Themes and Apps

Has anyone thought about or actually ripped the various media apps from the Archos 5 tablet to use on other android devices?

That will be awesome if some body can do it.

got one.
I have the a5a and would happily give any help I can.
The media app isn't an actual apk. It it outside the androind environment.
Tricky but running full 720p mkv s sour be worth it.

Any apk apps other than the media related ones that we don't already have?

ThinkFree was already pulled and it is somewhere on the forum (either Dream apps or Android apps forum - not sure which)... SEARCH!
I don't know about any others.

Archos 5 Internet Tablet Apps & Media

I'm currently uploading the app and the media folder of the Archos Android firmware.
I have the full dump, but it is really really not interesting.
The music player of the Archos runs on Archos OS side by side with Android, so no way to port.
I think the only interesting things are the skin of the Launcher and the sounds.
I uploaded the app and the media folder.
In case any DEV wants the full dump, I'll upload it.
Here's the download:

Please upload somewhere other than rapidshare (their service sucks)...I'm getting errors trying to download this. Can you try zshare.net please? Thanks
Yeah RapidShare is awful.. if you're after a temporary home for it I'll put it on my webspace. I doubt (hope) it'd go past my bandwidth cap.

Damn, Android has lacked a good looking, responsive and clean media player for a long time. In fact, I'd say that multimedia is the single biggest detractor from android. I was hoping that we'd get it here.
This actually looks pretty cool if this is what it looks like http://www.archos.com/
why dont you like it max?
I could not get these to work?
i got global time up n running but no option to set time any other file i need to push? thanks
never mind i got it
Global Time is not something new to the Archos. It's been around a while.
ThinkFree is awesome, I really like how it can use google docs.
Maxisma, is there any chance you can post the framework-res here? I know you said you would post the whole dump but I can't see it - 3 download links and they all go to the app_media.zip

Wow yeah ThinkFree Mobile really is a great app - I couldn't get anything else to work though, could anyone else?
Maxisma, what about the DVR Recording? That was the thing that stood out to me on it, any idea on how it works or what format it records to for playback? Any codec that isn't currently supported?
Screw Hero i want this on my Dream.

I'm buying a used arches 5 6500

Cubed (superscript 3) is a great media player.
And bTunes would be an awesome media player if it could fit onscreen and was available to 1.6 users.

[APPS] [REQUEST] Video editing?

i have searched and searched but i have turned up nothing. i know there is no video editing app for android. Is there anyone out there working on one. im sorry but i love my nexus very much. the one thing i wish i could do is record a 720p video add my youtube intro to it and then upload it to youtube. without having to connect to my mac convert video to mp4 then edit it in imovie then export it the upload it to youtube. i have thought about buying an itouch just so i could use it as a camcorder that have video editing. as you can see im not asking for much. im sure there is plenty of people that wish androids could do this.
Main things i would love to see
video splicing
transitions
thats all. i wish i knew how to program for android because i think this would be an amazing thing to bring to android.
I would like to know as well.
I'd also like to have this.
I already post this question but it is still unanswered :'(
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=671881
I was interested in this too... even if I could just rotate the videos I rrecord by 90 degrees, that would be a huge help!
Billy
Also interested in this.
I'm curious to know if something like ffmpeg could be used? And then add a GUI afterwards?
Is there any cloud based application that can be used since we have flash and maybe let us upload your data and edit it there and redownload?
Sense as if that might be the least intensive work-wose unless someone has a native app everyone seems to have missed.

Hey all, there's a thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=830781 to port the LG Optimus' video editing app over to the Nexus One - apparently it's mostly working on the Vibrant already.

Google TV downsides?

Hi all,
I'm considering buying a logitech revue to avail of Google TV.
I'm having trouble getting opinions on it.
Is it worth getting?
I see it run's on Eclair does it mean that If I want to stream a video that I cant watch it as it wont have full flash player?
I suppose what i'm asking is can you watch pirate copy's of TV shows?
I have the logitech revue. There are several ups and downs, mostly with the fact that there's not an app store or market on the GTV builds yet. You're basically stuck with the netflix/pandora apps you have. The streaming interface is pretty nice if you wanna stream from a computer to the device (I personally run from an external HD, cuz I love me some 1080p and the router I have just can't keep up). Flash wise, you're running 10,1,107,198 unless they've done some further hacking. I was reading some forums where developers were pushing honeycomb onto GTV, so read up. Overall, a very nice setup.
ok, So maybe if you can clear this up for me.
If I was followed a TV show and for whatever reason it wasnt on this week on TV would GTV support me on searching for a set season & episode?
Or if I seen an advert for something thats coming out on DVD soon that I could search around one of the many video sites to find a copy someone has uploaded?
Sorry for all of the questions but I don't want to spend that sort of money on something that is to save me time when Its not going to do that.
Also will this work with Sky Digital set top box?

[Q] Nexus S codecs - install extra codecs

Hi there,
I noticed that the Nexus S did not play all of the DVIX films I have that would play with the Samsung Galaxy i9000. I used mVideoPlayer. I presume that it is missing codecs.
Is there a way to install missing codecs, that would not have been included by default in Android 2.3?
Regards, F.
Try Rockplayer, its free in the market.
I know of RockPlayer, but this was not my question (although its clear that Rockplayer has the codecs in it)
I want to install the codecs so that any app can play the video whether its stock, mVideoPlayer or others.
Looks like RockPlayer that might use libavcodec. Did anyone attempt to compile this for Android 2.3.4?
For those interested, there is an article here about compiling this.
http://odroid.foros-phpbb.com/t338-ffmpeg-compiled-with-android-ndk
OP i came from a galaxy S i know what you're talking about
use Dice Player it new and it supports most vid/audio codecs with hardware support
like in the galaxy S
I don;t think this is the best way forward. Compiling, and making generally available, the correct libraries would better serve us.
FFmpeg is available as per my link. I'll check what it really can decode, and then try and compile this. This'll take a week or so (min) as I have lots of other work to do At least the library is available fro Android. I think it strange that even Debian can install the proprietary codecs within a few clicks, yet stock Android cannot.

What do you want everything for free
he freely released his source if you actually looked
Devs have to put food on their plate also
$3 is pocket change especially considering the caliber of the apps capabilities until you put forth something to this caliber and freely distribute you have no right to complain
And FYI if you looked at Dice player source you would know it was compiled with FFmpeg

Your comments have no place in this thread. This is a discussion about missing codecs, that are freely available with the majority of all modern operating systems. Neither is this a complaint thread. It is about seeking information and taking action. I advise that you read the thread once more.
An analogy: When I purchase a telephone I expect it to be able to be able to hear the called party not only connect the call. I should not have to pay extra for the missing sound; The same is applicable to a built-in video player.
Your statement "what do you want everything for free" is clearly misinformed, when I would have to pay, and am willing to pay, 550 EUROs (775 USD) for a Nexus S. I might suggest that you take this up with Google.
This thread went down the path of compiling ffmeg: I was going to do this myself, and making this freely available. It would follow that I might write the front-end player myself. If I did this, and sell it myself on the Market, then according to you I am a free-tard. I suppose that this is true of all other developers out there. Arguably there would now be another player on the market - I don't think this would really help as others have more experience in this.
It is my opinion that Google should make all codecs easily available. It is not a lot to ask, especially as the likes of Canonical and Debian can do the same.

[Q] How do we not have enhanced podcast (.m4a) support on Android yet?

Is there something specific to the platform that is preventing enhanced .m4a support on Android? As far as I can see from scouring the internet, it looks like we don't have a single media player that supports the enhanced features of chaptering and embedded images offered by enhanced .m4a files. This is supported in every apple device, if I am not mistaken.
Any ideas?
Found One!
In case anybody is interested, somebody on reddit came through for me:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.akimbo.abp.trial&feature=search_result
Akimbo is an audiobook reader that handles .m4a chaptering and images pretty perfectly. Their library setup is a ****ty mess, but it has otherwise been strong so far.
yes this one works........ nearly.
The enhanced podcasts I use have several differant images per chapter, and the player moves onto the next image only at the next chapter so come the 2nd chapter it is several images behind.
.m4a files play just fine on the stock music player of my LG vortex, and the blur'd music player of the DX2. where are you encountering issues playing .m4a file?
the audio playback is fine on every player its the images encoded into the podcast that dont display properly

Same issue here. I want to access enhanced podcasts from Coffee Break Spanish but I couldn't. Those podcasts also have multiple images per chapter.
I'm very interested in this as well. I've been using Pocket Casts which is a great player but doesn't support the contextual images and links.
My example Specifically is the "Rooster Teeth Podcast".
On my old iPhone the embedded images displayed perfectly in apps like Downcast and the native iTunes Player had functional Live links some of the time.
I'm desperately searching for one, but I've had no luck.
has anyone had any luck yet with this one? I am thinking about using my old hd2 just for m4a playback
I asked the developer of Pocketcasts about this. And it seems they're missing the tools to make this.
" We've been looking into it, but that format is a proprietary Apple standard that no one else has support for. So our iOS app supports it out of the box, because Apple has the developer tools for us to do that. On Android Google don't, and we've yet to find a third-party library we can use that does, which leaves us stuck. So short story: yes we'd love to, but we don't think we can."
Bummer.

The feature is supported by VLC on the desktop (and likely other open source desktop apps). Handbrake also supports it; it can encode the chapter data into m4v files. In reading about it, it seems like the chapter data is simply encoded into the file in plaintext. I don't know how easy or hard it is to read that data on Android, but it definitely seems do-able (seeing as how the above 2 open source apps do it).

I've had no joy. I have tried most new players added to the marketplace.
I don't believe that windows mobile has one up over android ??
It seems like Podcast Republic does the job ? unfortunately is has some bugs on my LG G3, like background play doesnt work, and rotating the devices skips chapters :silly:
Hopefully it will be resolved in a newer version.

This app is absolutely useless.!!! It has NO idea about chapters, let alone that there ARE chapters in the podcast....
I'm so vukking fed-up with Android's incompetence!!!!
The only way to even remotely use chapters is to play AAC files with an accompanying CUE sheet with PowerAmp...
