Umm, yeah, they are for T-Mobile. There is a T-Mobile Rhodium and there will soon be a T-Mobile Leo.

Scheduled to arrive in the states for T-mobile in the 1st Quarter..
T-Mobile exclusively uses the AWS 1700/2100 MHz frequency-band, making it incompatible with other existing 3G UMTS/HSPA networks already established in the United States...

[Q] Help please

According to this (http://www.phonemag.com/htc-touch-diamond-and-touch-pro-release-dates-pricing-084482.php), the HTC Pro will probably be coming to Sprint before AT&T releases the Fuze. So, if I bought the Sprint version of the phone without a contract will it work with AT&T?? Im on AT&T right now and im not changing carriers just to have this phone earlier than the Fuze.
Thanks...
No, it will not. Sprint uses CDMA technology while ATT uses GSM technology.

OK... Thanks. Guess ill have to wait until AT&T releases the "Fuze"

HTC Fuze coming soon - w/triband 3G?

As reported by Engadget, it seems almost inevitable that the Raphael will come to AT&T as the Fuze. What made me curious was this part:
The multi faceted HTC FUZEā„¢ is a 3G tri-band HSDPA Windows Mobile smartphone brought to you by AT&T...

Say what now? Is the description wrong? Because I swore that the Touch Pro only came in dual-band 3G. (In fact, that's a major reason I settled for the iPAQ 614c instead.)

gotta give respect where its due and i think dual band is for the Euro versions. US gets tri-band. don't quote me on that though
Is their source really xda-devs? That's sort of embarassing...

Wow, a follow-up, and just a day later! (Yes, I know, I read too much engadget...)
... the HTC model with code "NM8RPLT" reveals that it's a Raphael, and it sports HSUPA 850 / 1900 ...

Looks like it's dual-band after all.
no, it just means that the FCC has tested the HTC Touch Pro ONLY on the two 3G bands that were required for ATT and North America.
It is tri-band 3G and will work in Europe, like the Tilt did (at least I'm betting on it.)
Now, if you're looking for the 1700 band used by T-Mobile, then, well...
Hey TreoFred,
How do you know for certain that the Fuze is tri-band hsdpa?

I took a closer look at the FCC report, and he may be right; they only tested it on the US bands. For example, they only tested GSM bands 850 and 1900, even though we know that that Raph is GSM quad-band.
Would this be a hardware thing or a software thing?
EDIT: Nevermind, guess we don't know yet till someone can get their hands on the ROM or device.

T-Mobile G1 - Rogers 3G

Good day to you all,
I would like to know if there's any way at all that a T-Mobile G1 can access the Rogers 3G network. Radio update, etc?
I have posted this question in the Dream and Dream Q&A section with no responses. I'm sure this isn't specifically a development question, but you guys might know the answer.
Thanks!
no it is a hardware not a software limitation sorry
Not what I wanted to hear, but it makes sense.
So on the Rogers network, I'll be stuck with the EDGE data?

The radio in the phone dictates the frequency, not the SIM right?

yes but the normal g1 can not utilise these frequencies unless it falls between a specific range which the rogers 3g network does not. However the t-mobile ones do
correct - its a frequency thing, which is dictated by the radio hardware, not the sim or a software setting.

So the T-Mobile G1 is able to use the Rogers 3G network, but only if it has a T-Mobile SIM?
Am I understanding this correctly?

nope it is only able to use a t-mobile 3g network with a tmobile sim. I meant you should buy a t-mobile sim for use with the t-mobile network if you really needed it.

Rogers definitely supports full 3G, it's 3.5G (HSDPA) as a matter of fact.
The G1 runs on a different frequency and can't access the Rogers 3G, only EDGE data network.
The point of this thread was to see if the G1 radio was capable of using the Rogers frequencies... Guess not...
Doesnt rogers carry the dream? Why get a Tmobile G1 when the Rogers Dream is the same phone except it uses the correct frequencies for 3G?

I bought a 'bricked' G1 on eBay for $40. I fixed it in a matter of minutes. I figured it was a hell of a deal, but I didn't think about the fact that I would be missing 3G here in Canada.
I already own the HTC Magic 32A (Rogers), this G1 is just to play around with.
No idea why anyone brought up SIM cards or whatever. That's utterly irrelevant, and only served to confuse people. Thanks.
The radio in the TMO G1 only supports UMTS Band I (2100) and Band IV (AWS). The Rogers G1 supports Band II (1900).
My recommendation is to resell that fixed G1, and find yourself a Rogers Dream.
You can convert your HTC Dream to 3G in Canada by replacing the antenna. Here's a link to a (probably) T-Mobile antenna as an example. But if you can find one for Canadian frequencies... Good luck!
Ive had the g1 before the dream came out , if I were to get a dream do I root the same way with the downgrade then flash new Rom , I m running hero Rom right now on my g1 .

Can Touch pro 2 asia can be made into CDMA mode??

We apologize if my question seems funny or crazy.
Can HTC TP2 (except sprint. Verizon, t-mobile) can be made into CDMA mode like TP2 Sprint/verizon

Clarify your question man, you have a TP2 from somewhere in Asia, and you want to try to use it where? is is CDMA/GSM or what?

i have TP2 from singapore, and i want to try with CDMA mode? (like TP2 Sprint)
Even if the Singapore TP2 is CDMA, good luck trying to get Sprint to activate it!

No. The hardware is not there. You cannot get a GSM/WCDMA only TP2 running on a classic CDMA network.

T-Mobile (USA) HTC Sensation not working on Telus(CAD)?

Hey guys,
My friend just bought a HTC Sensation for T mobile from the states, (we are from Canada) and he wants to connect it on his Telus contract. Yes he does have a sim card, and he had it unlocked already. The problem is he is not getting any service and when he goes into settings and tries to register his network it only comes up with Rogers? Now I know that T mobile runs at 1700 MHz/2100 MHz and Telus at 1900MHz, but from what I have read else where it should work? If not, would changing to possibly a Bell modem work for his handset, or is he SOL?
thanks guys!
Since Telus only uses "4G" for their network, (ie. no EDGE/2g) a Sensation from T-Mobile will not work on Telus at all. Tell him to sell it and buy the Bell version and unlock it.

Do you mean T-Mobile only uses 4G? The HTC Sensation is a 4G phone? Hence the name HTC Sensation "4g"??

Different 3G/4G frequencies (1700 aka AWS for T-Mobile and 850/1900 for Telus).

Yeap there is no way. Sell the phone to a WIND user and buy the unlocked Bell one.
