I have a htc magic with cursorsense rom.. I can't figure out how to send unknown callers to voicemail, but im able to do it with regular unblocked numbers.. Ive tried creating a new contact labeled "unknown" and clicking the "send directly to voicemail" button.. but it does not work.. can someone help me?
bump... ttt
I've never tried it, but this might do the trick: http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-call-firewall-v1-4.html
thanks for the suggestion.. it seems that app only has an option to reject all calls that are not from "my contacts" list.. meaning anyone calling you that is or isnt unknown will be rejected.. i want something that will do it for unknown calls only and let all other calls go through.. thanks anyways

Hey, does anyone know of a program that'll let you playback a message to a call you've blocked?
I know MagiCall has the ability to launch another program or send the caller an SMS saying you're busy but I'm trying to find one that'll actually pick up the phone, play the mp3 or wav file and then hang up.
I want to keep calls that show up "unknown" or "private" blocked but also want the caller to know that's why they can't get through. The pickup & drop works like a charm but then ppl just call back thinking something went wrong.
Thoughts?
thx

There's a Voicemail Service, That I'm blanking on the name. Different Numbers get different Greetings, But you'd still have to ignore the call on your phone...
EDIT: Youmail Is what I was talking about
thx for the reply. i'm looking for something that can be installed on the phone rather than an external service. youmail sounds like a voicemail replacement.
maybe that's what i need tho, a voicemail program that'll fire up and then hang up right away w/o the opportunity of leaving a vmail.
So someone calls me, and they get my voice mail where i ask them to please leave their name, number and subject... after im expecting the service to go into record mode but instead the automated voice operator gives the same set of instructions offering more options.... "if you would like to leave a numeric page, please press 1 or remain on the line to leave a message" ....
I never respond to unknown numbers. So that option is pointless imo and wastes time for others calling me. Sure, it sounds petty but I get annoyed when that comes up on me.
im on at&T any way to dissable that to just do voice message, and beep for recording?
Same happens on rogers network in BC...
"hi this is mr X, im not available at the moment please leave a message / operator: please leave a message after the tone" ....
it just restates the obvious.
like i said, its probably petty but... if anyone knows something i'd appreciate it.
There might be a #***#*** set to adjust this?
Same with number of rings before going to voicemail?
I'll be watching this topic as well..

this covers how to do amount of rings on an iphone:
http://iphoneguru.org/change-the-amount-of-rings-before-visual-voicemail-answers
im still interested in getting rid of the operator after voice mail.
The idea behind it is too have a caller spend more time on the call to make more money. This is set though your network so I doubt you can change this.

There are other voicemail services available, you just set your phone to forward calls to a different number. I'm not sure if youmail has the features you're looking for, but check it out anyways.
www.youmail.com
They notify you via text message and/or email when you get a voicemail, and even send the voice message in the email for you to listen to.
Hi all,
Apologies if this has already been answered, search didn't bring anything up for me...
Is there an app out there that will let me change the voicemail number? I have a Virgin Mobile Optimus V, and they've removed the menu entry under Call Settings to change the voicemail number. My hope is that there is an app out there which can do this, much like how you can enable tethering with an app, even though VM disabled that menu entry.
I'd like my Google Voice calls to go to GV voicemail. If I ignore the call, it goes there. If I expressly cancel the call, it will go to Virgin's mailbox, which I am guessing is because the internal number for the voicemail is set to that.
Thanks in advance!
Me too!
I too would like to know the answer to this question!
It would seem this is the only down fall of this amazing deal!
I was on CM7 last night then cyclone and now im on MIUI and all the roms are still doing it, so its not the roms. its my MDN or something OR MSID getting F'd up from Youmail or google voice or something idk. but ever since i had it and deactivated it. my phone has been receiving calls in the most annoying way ever.
if its someone from my contact list i receive this before i can actually answer "Hello, Chris B is calling you. press 1 to accept or press 2 to leave a voicemail."
if its a unknown caller i get "You are receiving a call from a unknown number, press 1 to accept"
And you made sure that this wasn't the problem?

All of a sudden today when I try to intiate a text or call to a contact via S Voice on my S2 the watch doesn't seem to be able to find the contact. I get a message "Not found. Who would you like to text instead" or "Not found. Who would you like to call instead". Other commands like asking time or even making a call to a nearby business. But it won't call or text a contact!!! Anyone else seeing this behavior?
