Playing back msg to unwanted calls - General Topics

Hey, does anyone know of a program that'll let you playback a message to a call you've blocked?
I know MagiCall has the ability to launch another program or send the caller an SMS saying you're busy but I'm trying to find one that'll actually pick up the phone, play the mp3 or wav file and then hang up.
I want to keep calls that show up "unknown" or "private" blocked but also want the caller to know that's why they can't get through. The pickup & drop works like a charm but then ppl just call back thinking something went wrong.
Thoughts?
thx

There's a Voicemail Service, That I'm blanking on the name. Different Numbers get different Greetings, But you'd still have to ignore the call on your phone...
EDIT: Youmail Is what I was talking about

thx for the reply. i'm looking for something that can be installed on the phone rather than an external service. youmail sounds like a voicemail replacement.
maybe that's what i need tho, a voicemail program that'll fire up and then hang up right away w/o the opportunity of leaving a vmail.

how do i get rid of annoying operator after voice mail?

So someone calls me, and they get my voice mail where i ask them to please leave their name, number and subject... after im expecting the service to go into record mode but instead the automated voice operator gives the same set of instructions offering more options.... "if you would like to leave a numeric page, please press 1 or remain on the line to leave a message" ....
I never respond to unknown numbers. So that option is pointless imo and wastes time for others calling me. Sure, it sounds petty but I get annoyed when that comes up on me.
im on at&T any way to dissable that to just do voice message, and beep for recording?
Same happens on rogers network in BC...
"hi this is mr X, im not available at the moment please leave a message / operator: please leave a message after the tone" ....
it just restates the obvious.
like i said, its probably petty but... if anyone knows something i'd appreciate it.
There might be a #***#*** set to adjust this?
Same with number of rings before going to voicemail?
I'll be watching this topic as well..

this covers how to do amount of rings on an iphone:
http://iphoneguru.org/change-the-amount-of-rings-before-visual-voicemail-answers
im still interested in getting rid of the operator after voice mail.
The idea behind it is too have a caller spend more time on the call to make more money. This is set though your network so I doubt you can change this.

There are other voicemail services available, you just set your phone to forward calls to a different number. I'm not sure if youmail has the features you're looking for, but check it out anyways.
www.youmail.com
They notify you via text message and/or email when you get a voicemail, and even send the voice message in the email for you to listen to.

Looks like it simply rejects the call. If that is the case, the caller will be sent to my voicemail and I still have to delete it afterwards.
Call Bouncer is better. It accepts the call and hang up. No voicemail.
However, there is a problem I think would appear in all these programs. At times, I got a ring (or half a ring) before it is caught by Call Bouncer. I found this rather annoying.
Is there any apps out there that silents selected incoming calls instead of rejecting them?
Sometimes I don't want them to know I'm rejecting their calls, just that I wasn't around to receive them.

I have the impression that pocket call bouncer has an option to reject (accept and hang up) or ignore (turn of ringing). Give it a try. I've used it on HD2 but I don't like it because at times the phone rings once before the bouncer can take action.
Magicall does all that. It can:
1) reject (send to voicemail)
2) drop
3) pick up and hold
4) ignore (no ringing is sounded while caller keeps waiting)
5) handle incoming SMS
You can also set it to automatically send SMS to callers.

my most excellent buds.. the programs are all reactive stuff.. something has to happen for the programs to do something.
If you really want to let the person think you just didn't pick up his call, then just simply copy a silent ringtone and use it as a custom ringtone for the person... you'll never "hear" from him/her again.
And.. it just takes 30s to turn off voicemail.. I mean, you wouldn't want the person to wonder why is it that you have voicemail and he/she wasn't diverted there?

No worries...I'm using Callblock now and it works great....
Just replying moooxooom's statement that we should use a silent ringtone for all callers. Sometimes it takes just a little bit more thinking to capture all the usual scenarios.
Cool call management app - my recommendation
I use HTC Diamond 2 and recently came across a cool call management and call blocking app XBLOCKR. I first downloaded the Lite version from Microsoft Marketplace and was quite impressed. It has a great feature "Do Not Disturb" and alas it is not available in the Lite version that I was using. I contacted them through their website as they sell it for $ 19.95 which I feel is a reasonable price, but thought of bargaining
They gave me a code and I purchased it for $ 14.95.
It's a great app if anybody is looking for something different than call blocker apps. It gives you options to handle your call when it arrives as well you can pre-program. I am very happy having it on my Diamond. Check it out as they have a 100 call trial version with all the features.

The readme for Call Bouncer states that it ignores the same as Call Firewall does, this sending the caller over to your voicemail. The developers site for it is at http://www.ipocketpc.net/applications/Category32-Utilities.aspx (scroll down to it) to see if this is the same Call Bouncer you are talking about.

Android Call blocking with telezap?

Does anyone know of any app that can blacklist say telemarketers and either answer a call and send a tri-tone telezap? In theory this is supposed to tell cold callers call systems to remove this number as it will play the three tones you hear commonly when you call a disconnected number. Those tones should trigger t hem to automatically remove.
Im hoping theres an app out there that can do this or forward a call automatically to something like google voice and let it handle it.
Anyone heard of any such thing?
Best thing out there is callfilter in the market. But it only blocks numbers that you want that u put in a list. I use it to ignore creditors. I don't know how helpful it can be to u. Bu that's the only one I can think of
thanks for the input

[Q] unknown callers --> voice mail

I tried a few apps on the market but when I ring my Hero from a number which is not in my contact list it still rings. I can set any contact to go straight to voice mail so it seems logical that an app could be developed to do the same for any numbers not on contact list.
Anyone knows of such app which actually does it for our hero?
Anyone? There has to be some one who knows
I use CallFilter. It works pretty well, sometimes it'll ring one time real fast, then go to VM. Only probably I've found is that if I'm on the phone already, it cuts off my call.
Yeah, I tried it but unfortunately it still rings for calls which show a number. It only works if the call has no name in contacts or unpublished number.
So the idea is really to just send anyone to voice mail if they are not in your contacts. I figured that if they want to contact me they'll leave a message and if I like to talk to them next time I'll add their number to my contacts.
What ROM are you using? If it's AOSP you can long press the number in your call log and in the menu that pulls up you'll see an option to add it to blacklist but that requires missing/receiving a call from it first otherwise I've used call filter from the market in the past which seemed to work well
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
if you want the specifics, i am not the man that would be able to tell you. but i would think this is something tasker is capable of handling.
I'm using stock 2.1 with root and some mods.
Actually, the stock 2.1 comes with an option to send to voice mail for any contact. So what you can do is make a group and put all the numbers which annoy you with this option.
The problem with ALL apps which block is that they still either ring once or somehow silence and ignore the call. Either way the call still seems to come in on display. I'm not just talking about the notification but the front display. So it seems like all these apps deal with this in one way; they simply intercept it.
However, the feature which comes with stock 2.1 does this properly and only displays a missed call. The phone does not ring and the caller gets the voice mail immediately. So Sprint or Google did something else in how they handle this. It seems like there should be an option to just let it go straight to voice mail for any numbers not in the contact list or just let the damn thing ring
Still not able to find anything working properly for hero

Best Call blocker app

whats the best one..
the one thats built into Lollipop doesnt really work as I wanted it too..
the caller still gets through and but just doesnt show on my phone, when I have my moto360 on, it vibrates.. and I can see the caller..
I want the call blocker that will tell the caller that the number is no longer in service or something like that
Not sure if such a ting exists, since the call ID is controlled by your provider... The best that i have found is one that either transfers the call to your voicemail or just hangs up. I use is Call blocker https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.netqin.mm&hl=en
I tried a few that suppose to hang up.. but all they do is send them to my VM.. all they do is wait a few secs then hang up and do it again.. it fills up my VM box...
YouMail is the best with call blocking. They have a bunch of different greetings that make callers think your number is disconnected so they never call again. They filter out spam callers too - i upgraded my account just cause of their blocking features they're pretty great
