Thanks goes to anichillus as I took a lot of inspiration from his great Hypercore Kitchen and to frauhottelmann for contributing on this kitchen with his oem packages and advices. And also to the geniuses here on xda dev who created all those wonderfull tools!
The kitchen is based on HTC_Vox_ARA_1.27.415.4_4.1.13.47_02.98.90.
Installation : The kitchen must be installed in \Vox Kitchen on the systemdrive (C:\Vox Kitchen for most of you) to work.
Organisation of the kitchen in 3 parts : Extract, Edit and Build
Extract : if you would like to use another base rom than the Ara one. But this part isn’t really developed yet…
Edit : to edit Registry (default.hv and user.hv), to create a splashscreen and also many tools for advanced rom cooking
Build : the final step. Also includes G’Reloc.

It would be really good if someone with the appropiate skills could develop this... There is a huge gap for Vox ROMS

what is the process of removing apps from the rom.. for example if I want to remove the office 6.0 and have office 6.1 by default..

You should delete the Office folders in \SYS and create an OEM package (if there isn't already one available for office 6.1, I don't know...)you will copy in the \OEM folder. You can learn how to do that here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1374154&postcount=138
This thread applies to the Hypercore kitchen though but the process is the same.
Keep in mind everything won't probably work the first time and that cooking roms is very time consuming!

which files do i need to edit/ remove so as to remove any traces of the arabic language settings. im trying to build an eng (us) rom but i have come up to a snag.
my t9 defaults to arabic and the keyboard isnt responding
the arabic cab came up after the initial load

First of all you can delete smartarabiser.cab somewhere in the \OEM folder. You can also delete the T9 arabic dll files which you should find easily in \OEM\OEMAPPS folder.
Then there is going to be some registry editing!
You should know that the registry keys I will give can be repeated through several .rgu files and also in default.hv and user.hv. So don't forget to look for all the instances of these keys. You can find them using a search program with the ability to search text inside files. For example I used SuperFinder for my rom cooking needs. And always search in OEM and SYS folders. Not only in SYS.
Here is the list of the registry keys you will have to find and how to edit them.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Tegic\eT9]
-Edit "DefaultLanguage"=dword:0000010
This is the default language use for T9. Change the dword value to 00000109 for english if I remember correctly !
-Edit "AvailableLanguages"
These are the available languages for T9. The order is also the order they will display in the t9 language selection menu. Remove 0801 to get rid of the arabic option.
Ok that should do it. I hope I haven't forgotten any.. And sorry if it is not very clear, I wrote this fast.

Maybe I should release a version of this kitchen with arabic language already removed. Maybe you could release the kitchen once you made this modification and tested it? Many thanks if you do this as I don't have time for it myself right now.
I really hope we will get more people interested in cooking rom for our devices.

if i want some chr like ; : / ( ) ... you musst press first Fn ... or hold the key a while ... and this while is realy long -.- ... like 500ms or something ... an i want so set this to 200ms ... or more less ... to write faster

i gave that a try and some how i have lost the ability to type anything on the keyboard.
anyway that you could zip up your rgu and hv's from your french rom, i could get a test rom going after i understand the changes in your rom and the ara one

There is also something that I forgot to mention wich is sometimes the keys are even repeated in the same file !
I don't really know why they are repeated and if it would be safe to delete those copies..

if anyone is looking for the acutal changes i have left ; as a comment to the line that i have added the change to make this kitchen for north america
i have also found the provxml that will set the time zone as making the timezone changes in the rgu was very futile, well maybe excecpt finding the one for automatic time/ timezone updates. i have also included reg.chm if anyone wants to take a look at the timezone reference numbers, mind you it was pre2007 changes
if someone could oem'ize the apps in the kitchen so as to make fully customizable please do so for the greater good, lol

hey so this isnt probably the best response, i just got my vox and entered the world of hacking . modding a phone is new to me (flashed many other devices) so can someone real quickly tell me what flashing with something like 'the kitchen' rom allows us to do?

I don't really know if I undrstood your question but the kitchen is not actually a rom. It is a term used here on xda dev to describe an organised set of tools to modify an preexisting rom. The kitchen is where you "cook" roms. And users of the kitchens are called "cooks"

oh ok, that makes sense! now flashing a rom, like the ARA rom, will that enhance the performance of the phone and make the interface also look better? just curious to what 'roms' provide the user. Flashing an official rom like the Ara one won't change your interface. It made my phone faster though

oh ok, but what about flashing using your rom, will it make it run faster (cause i love your interface). my phones never been flashed, could you direct me on how i'd go about getting it flashed? do i need a storage card, cause right now i dont have one. thanks again

No need for a storage card, just an activesync connection
I can not help you to backup your existing rom as I never did it. hope others will e able to explain this to you.
However if you've never flashed a rom I don't recommand you to start cooking already. If you want to try my rom however you should have asked your question in this thread. I'm currently adding a very quick guide on how to install the rom. You will find it at the end of my first post.

I've tried to change the language by editing the hv files, but got a error when convert it from rgu to hv, anyway with english mui files I started the rom in english by registry changing..
So, anyone who want to decode and make changes for english on attached hv files, or to decode edited rgu files to hv?

place this file to windows dir! use total commander as ur explorer! but it gives an error when you turn it on! maybe there is something on the registry that must be change or worst the driver for ir is removed from this build! i don't know!

can you ask someone with a real wm6.1 smartphone device to share the beam.cpl..xml instead of mine? the one i used was a dump from wm6! maybe the 6.1 has different configuration? please post it here also if it work! thanks

probably they'll have the same xml config...
registry should be the one to alter to be able to load that xml config...

have you had done this from previous builds? i think the procedure is the same! check with ur cellular operator for the configurations! i personally do not use MMS for now!

I've only cooked using Ervius and osKitchen zero for WM. Is it much different for WP7? I plan to do some reading, but if it's close, I should be good to go.

After flashing Jelly Bean to my device I quickly discovered the problem which many non-US members have been talking about, it was impossible to use Google Now to it's full potential without changing the system language to English (US). I thought that there had to be some simple solution to this problem, so I searched around here on xda for any mod that fixed this, but there wasn't any success. So, after some simple smali editing I now present to you
Google Now with independant locale
This mod allows you to continue using Google Now as you're used to, but without having to compromise with your own language of choice - Whether it be Spanish, French, Swedish or any other language that is supported as of Jelly Bean. The only thing that is required is replacing the old Google Now apk with the new one.
Disclaimer
- You are responsible for anything that could potentially harm your device by using this app. If you are worried, make a Nandroid.
- I can't guarantee that this will mod will work on your device/configuration. If it doesn't, please provide a logcat so I attempt to fix the problem.

Installation Instructions
(Requires Jelly Bean or above)
1. Download the file from dl.dropbox.com/u/22829424/Velvet.apk (unclickable because of insufficient post count)
2. Remount /system with read/write permissions
3. Copy the apk to /system/app/Velvet.apk
IMPORTANT - If Velvet.apk does not already exist in /system/app/ it could be having another name. If GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk is there, replace that file instead.
4. Remount /system with read-only permissions again
5. Install the apk as you would the normal way (Users on the Swedish forum I originally posted this on found this to be required)
If you want to perform step 2 - 4 using adb, these are the commands to use

Have you tried setting the TTS language to English (US)? There could be some sort of error I made when modifying the apk that only allows that language.

Could you try pulling a logcat from your device after you've received an answer from Google Now and link a pastebin here? There could be something useful there

Well, if you download this tool I saw on the portal the other day

Then use your mobile device and go to Google Now, enter/ask a question that you know for sure will result in a voice response (try "where is the closest mcdonalds"). When you see the response on the screen, use the tool you previously downloaded and get the log from your device.
Once the log is saved, upload it to pastebin.com and post a link to your pastebin here

Works fine for me on my nexus s i9023 in Germany on the brainmaster ROM.
Although I am a little confused about the mix of language settings.
The app seems to be in german, but I selected English (US) for the search.
So I have to ask questions in english and get answers in german. Though I thought the whole app would be in english.

Im German too, this works like you want it too. I have my System Language set to German and I ask Google Now Questions in English. The Output Language is also English. If you ask a Question in German it simply won't be understood.

[how to] enable ok google in any language! (from italy!)

Hi all,
I'm italian and i'm pretty new on the forum but I have some experience of the world from the Android " behind the scenes" ( developer )
I wanted to let everyone know that I found a way to ENABLE the fateful , fantastic , mega, super, turbo hotword " OK GOOGLE " , which activates google now , IN ANY LANGUAGES ! (ITALIAN, SPANISH, FRENCH, GERMAN, JAPANESE) and not only in English!!
among others, believe to be THE FIRST IN THE WORLD ! ( please say me not! ) since it was coming out this fantastic feature that I had to do it ....

I have update my guide today, if you don't want to copy the folder you can create a simple symbolic link to folder "en-US" in your language (tested with succesfull)...

"OK Google" does work in my Phone, but hot word "OK Google" can not be found in search bar, how to fix this?
I am using GEL.

Thank you so much!!! I can't believe the Spanish scene has not done this yet or copied it! I couldn't find this anywhere.
I use to be able to use an experimental launcher in the past that allowed me to say "OK Google", and then speak Spanish and be understood, but right now, I can't do it anymore without having to manually push the microphone icon first . I though maybe Google updated the search app, and removed that feature on purpose for testing...
PS: I read people created flashable ZIP files to be able to say "OK Jarvis" instead of "OK Google". Do you know something about it?
Again, I can't believe this isn't so known around other language speakers, or even that "OK Jarvis" mod.
EDIT: Hello, my tree looks like this: cd /system/usr/srec/config and the file inside is called en.us. So I had to modify the commands and do the same with a "es.es" folder for Spanish, but it doesn't seem to work. (cp -r en.us es.es ). It creates the es.es folder, and I can set permissions fine, but it doesn't seem to work in the launcher.
I have a Moto G (x1032 GSM International), and I also tried restoring to a new stock rom, and also a modded ROM, both on KitKat 4.4.2
Any help?

It seems the old way doesn't work anymore on the new Google Search update to 3.2.17 update, and there seems a new way to do it, but it appears not to work anymore either

If you would rather have a solution for any version (including future versions), try the previously covered App Settings Xposed Module by Recognized Contributor Tungstwenty and Recognized Developer rovo89. Once the module is installed, set the locale for GoogleQuickSearchBox to en-US. Of course, you’ll need to have the Xposed Framework (thread) installed to get started.
