Can't connect my Zinc II via USB to my laptop - General Topics

I'm having problems connecting my Zinc II via USB to my laptop.
My Zinc is running a custom 6.1 ROM by I-Mono-I version "20771" and the ROM version is "Zinc II VER 010 WWE 230 0825"
I can connect it to the family PC that is running Windows Vista no problem, however when I try to connect it to my laptop running Windows 7 it won't connect. Both PC's are using Windows Mobile Device Centre and my laptop is running version 6.1.6965 and Windows update does not show any updates for it.
When plugged in to Vista it shows up in the device manager as "Zinc II" under "Portable Devices" but on Windows 7 it shows up as "Microsoft Window Remote Adaptor" under "Network adapters"
I have tried rebooting both devices and uninstalling and reinstalling Windows Mobile Device Centre multiple times.
One last thing, the option "USB Advanced Network Functionality" does not appear in settings so I can't enable/disable it.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Also is there a way to get back "USB Advanced Network Functionality" on my phone or any software that will act as a replacement??

bump, anyone have any ideas?
I'm really having problems with this

Windows Mobile Device Manager Problem, Can't sync VISTA with my HTC Universal

Hello!
I have a HTC Universal (hard reseted) and a laptop with a fresh installation of windows vista rc2 (5744).
I can't make vista install the appropriate drivers to be able to connect to HTC.
I can open WMDC but it keeps saying "not connected". When I connect my HTC to laptop, via USB, nothing happens. Seams that vista doesnt recognize my PPC. Onether thing, perhaps without importance, I tried to connect a flash disk Pen and nothing happened either! It seams that Plug and Play device discovery is not functioning on vista. Is it normal?
Can anyone help me?
Thanks a lot!

Plug and play issue on vista?
Hi!
I'm having problems with instalation of HTC and Vista Windows Mobile Device Manager!
The device is not recognized by Vista, I mean, I connect the USB cable to laptop and nothing happens! But I can open WMDC but always says "not connected".
The wierdest thing is that I've connected 3 Pen Drives and nothing happened too!
Is this a general issue problem with Plug and Play discovering devices or is this nonsense and not related?
Please help! I'm getting desperate!

USB Issue
If you can't access a pen-drive then you probably have a driver issue with regards to your USB ports and will be unable to access your Windows Mobile device via USB. If you have bluetooth you might want to try connecting via that. The general Beta release only has basic support for WM devices (There will either be a seperate download or it might make the gold code) if you are part of the vista beta you can download the enhanced support (duplicates ActiveSync functionality) from the connect site.

Windows Mobile Device Center woes

I recently flashed my ROM from WM5 to WM 6. Thank you XDA. The problem I am having is now my Vista Computer won't connect with my MDA. Before the Flash it snyc fine. I uninstalled WMDC and reinstalled it and nothing. WMDC is aweful, Active Sync is great. Help maybe it is some kind of trick to get Vista to recognize it again with the new flashed WM6.
make sure you are using Active Sync. ver 4.5.....?
with some roms you have to uncheck the box "USB-PC" Found in settings/system/or sometimes found in connections,"USB-PC" and uncheck Enable advanced Network functionality. Then try and Sync
I can't use Active Sync with Win Vista. Any other suggestions..?
Then restore Vista to when it was working.
I'm also having trouble with Vista Ultimate (x64 and x32) and my Wizard (Octavoi's ROM)
It sees my device for a few seconds and then it closes.. The WMDC doesn't see my device at all...
The Event Viewer shows the following:
Windows Mobile-based USB device is plugged in but is unable to make a network connection to the desktop.
Click to collapse
Windows Mobile-based device failed to connect due to communication (0x80072745) failure (see data for failure code).
Click to collapse
Does anybody know how to solve this?
I've tried to uncheck the 'Advanced Network Functionality', but that also doesn't seem to work.....
Firewall could be the culprit.
Check your settings in your firewall. If you have Windows OneCare that would also interupt your connection with WMDC. But with any firewall program make sure that it allows or is in the trusted mode for any Windows Mobile Device.
I have Windows Live One Care but I don't think that's the problem.
I turned it off and tried to connect... without succes
But I'll give it a try again this afternoon.
i'm the other way, i went from vista to xp at work because of stupid autocad 2008 problems (don't get me started) and i prefer wmdc over activesync.. i have ver 4.5 and i have issues like it sometimes will randomly disconnect or won't complete a sync. other times i have no issue though. I never had a problem on vista with wmdc.
when i first hooked up my pda in vista it would load the driver in vista but, wouldn't connect, turned out it was loading an older driver and i manually updated to the newest one and just like that it was connecting, later i downgraded the driver to be able to update the rom and it was still working.

Where did you get the newer drivers from?
Try this :
Go to device manager in Vista
While connecting your wizard the device manager should refresh and add a 'MS Windows Mobile Remote Adapter'
Now right-click that adapter and choose 'uninstall'.
Vista will add the device again and soon after WMDC should connect.
At least it worked for me...

I tried the same, but without luck.
Ok, I've flashed my phone and now it seems to work with Octaivoi 6.3!!

Synchronize over Ethernet Problem

"Once upon a time" when I was using Windows XP I was able to sync my phone with my home computer from anywhere using an application called "USB to Ethernet Connector". It (I mean the application) basically shared my current USB connection over the ethernet and I was able to map it back home as real USB port.
For some time now I'm using Windows Vista. It is all ok with "USB to Ethernet Connector" except that the Vista's "Sync Center" does not recognize my device. It appears as "Windows Mobile-based device" in my Device Manager but it cannot sync.
Can anyone suggest where the problem might be?
P.S. Settings
Windows Vista Firewall - disabled
Windows Vista Defender - disabled
Symantec Endpoint Protection - Installed with Firewall disabled
up up up up up
vista changed a lot about security from xp
so
1. the program would have to be remade to work with the new security model
or
2. the vista security model is too strict for the program ever to work
I don't think that security is the problem here. Otherwise it won't work at all. My USB stick and the Bluetooth dongle work.
There is "Windows Mobile-based device" in my Device Manager.
So obviously the problem is with the Vista's Sync Centero or within it's settings.

[Q] No connection, syncing problem

Hi, I bought a HD2 through Ebay and didn't get the getting started CD. I installed activesync 4.5 on my XP and WMDC 6.1.6965 on my vista. Both computer do not recognize htc device thru USB saying unknown device for a few minutes then stops, tab says "one of the usb devies attached to comp has malfunctioned (USB not recognized)
Have tried :
1) USB to PC - unclicking faster data sync, hard resets, reinstalling WMDC and active sync
2) changing power options to usb to disable selective suspend
3) close zone alarm and window firewalls
4) taken out SD card
5) tried WMDC 6.0, active sync 4.2
5) followed this website hxxp:/pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/wmdc/services.htm and trialled the batch.
Batch said UPnP service name invalid so I installed uPnP tester from:
hxxp://download.cnet.com/Universal-Plug-and-Play-Tester/3000-2651_4-10504740.html
Batch file continues to say Windows mobile 2003-based device connectivity and windows mobile-based device connectivity as invalid, but i cant find a way to install/update these from microsoft website or through the web.
Note: when i install WMDC driver software installation successfully, under unidentified device.
Version T-mobile: OS 5.2.21892 (21892.5.0.89) ROm 2.13.531.1. (im in Australia if that makes any difference)
I want to be able to sync to a computer either xp or vista. Could it be my device or is my setup wrong? Thanks for help in advance
I'm having the exact same problem except with my Fuze running Tael Rom.
Help, anyone?

[Help]PCs can't recognize HTC HD2

I searched forum, but can't find solution.
I connected my phone to three different PCs through a USB cable that comes with the phone (a HTC tag on the cable). The phone was charging when in connection, but none of them can recognized the phone.
All PCs have Windows 7 Ultimate x86, all Windows updates and Windows Mobile Center 6.1 installed. I had administrator privilege and I had Windows firewall and other software firewall (kaspersky Internet Security 2011) turned off when I connected the phone to PCs.
I also tried another method on one of the PCs (a Dell laptop): I connected the phone to the PC without Windows Mobile Center, then I installed Windows Mobile Center, during installation, PC was trying to installing a proper driver and searching it on Windows Update, and finally it showed a Window says "
device software driver was not successfully installed
unidentified device Xdevice unplugged
Click to collapse
There is no unidentified device in Device Manager, as if the phone did not physically connect to the PCs.
I also tried "untick use faster data connection" option, still no go.
