Hi
Today this has happened twice in same day -When ever my Vox is lying Ideal the network indicator blinks also if its on charge i wil get a orange LED.but if I press any keys (lets assume to make a call) the Screen still remains Blank...
This problem I had also faced earlier my O2 NEO (Prophet) before it went dead completely!!
I am worried is it an indication of slow death!!
P.s I dont wanna lose the vox as i lost my beloved prophet
Still waiting for some useful tip
which ROM?
I guess you are talking about similar problem as what I have.

I usually get this problem once in every two days. I uninstalled all the extra apps leaving very few which I am sure wouldn't cause any harm. Since then I haven't seen this problem. Its been more than two days.
What I do when I get this problem is, remove the battery for 5 seconds and put it back before I attempt a restart. I don't think you need to worry about this too much if not for the calls that gets lost when the phone is in this state.
Sometimes it happens to me where the screen, once it goes blank, will not come back on. I usually just reboot it and forget about it. I've had my vox for a year and its happened on every rom I've used probably about 5 or 6 times.

Actually My vox does not show any thing on the screen totally blank and just the GREEN LED (network) blinks...
Thats also true tht I sometimes goes off completely and its too hot to handle.
In my case (blank screen) i usually make a call on my cell and it comes out of the blank screen to display incoming call...
I guess u shud try the same thing rather thn removing the batt ...as i had already lost my O2 Neo in the same manner.!!
I think we still need a solution on this
Ps. My ROM is Windows mobile 6.1 v1.0b for Vox by Dr. Martin Gonzo

This morning my alarm set off on that vox the key for dismissing the wakeup thing worked but no backlight, nothingon the screen really nothing...

If you can, reflash it... If not, it might be a ram failure, and you will have to send the phone in.
well funny thing is that flashing works perfectly but from the outside the phone looks completely dead...
if ihave to send it in it might be cheaper to buy a new phone i suppose, because i cannot find the receipt for the damn brick anymore.
anybody got a last solution for it? (except the rubbish bin)
Hello all,
I've a problem with an XDA Orbit I've recently inherited. It had never been taken out of the box, and was effectively new - but nevertheless would shut down (completely) within a few seconds of being turned on. Once shut down, it would not turn back on unless the battery was removed for a while - not even a hrd reset would help.
The O2 shop said it was a battery problem, but I'm 99% certain this is not the case; if you put it into ROM update mode, it will cheerfully sty on as long sa required. It's only when booting WM that the crash occurs.
As it can go to ROM upgrade, I've tried updating the ROM; this was successful, but the unit still crashes on boot - although it does seem to take a little longer before it goes down.
Anyhow, the question; I remember seeing on here an advert for someone who can replace ROM chips for about 40 quid. Does anyone have any idea who this might have been, or any suggestions for anywhere else to send it? Or, even a fix?
Thanks,
-dave
Hi
just want to ask if anybody have encountered my problem with htc sensation.
my phone reboots and/or shuts off intermittently.
i had it fixed on the service center but still the problem persist.
i ask what action did they do, according to them they just re-flash it.
after a week the problem re-surfaces, would like to ask about your opinion on how to fix it. thanks in advance

are you running custom roms?
Got the same problem and i know one other Person who does. Problem stopped appearing for some time and now its back worse than ever with random shutdowns even during calls. Running Stock HTC ROM not rooted or anything. Found some clues on the internet that it might be caused by a SW Update that came from HTC. Nothing for sure though. All i know is that i am seriously looking for another device at the moment. HTC and Android devices are annoying me more and more lately. No Official Updates (or they take 6 months), Compatibility Issues... The list grows longer every day. I used to love Android Phones, especially the HTC Ones but they appear to be stuck.

you have just been unlucky...i'm running custom roms and sometimes i get random reboot but now it is all ok!
send it back!
I had exactly this problem, phone kept turning off at random. Mine was totally stock, first time I sent it back they re-flashed but it started turning off again after about 2 weeks. I sent it back again, they changed the motherboard and its been working fine since then (touch wood!).
Also had random shutdowns. Got a new battery and the problem was gone. But now 4 months in on the new battery same thing starts to happen again. Beginning to thinks there's something wrong with the power management.

there is actually an issue on the power management, which is fixed with the ics update. If you can wait , you'll get an update from htc
if you cant, go ahead and flash a custom ics rom
I had the same problem before I bought a new battery and i hope it wont come back when the battery gets older. The problem was with 2G networks. If you turn the mobile network to WCDMA (3/4G) only in the settings, the phone shouldn't shut down. I hope the ICS update completely solves this

I had the same problem as well. I flashed ICS and it would still shut off. I noticed it wouldn't ever shut off if it was just sitting on my desk except one time it shut off when on my desk and someone called and my phone vibrated. Turns out the battery connection wasn't tight enough and when moved around, it would lose power. I folded a small piece of paper to make the battery fit tighter and it hasn't shut off since (about a month)
Hi all, I have gone through this problem... I have done all troubleshootings S-off S-On different roms new sim car everything even flashed by service station not helped...on solution for random shut down for me was changing motherboard and after they changed my motherboard I haven't faced single issue... get board changed.
Issues
1) random shutdown
2)while calling some shuts down
3)If it shuts down it will again shut down imd. on 2-3 attempts then start properly.
4) when screen is off and u push power button u find phone down
5) Random shut down some time imd or it will not happen for for next 8-9 hrs.
Get mother board changed.
I was experecing the same issue.
Random reboots or random shut down !
Never when my phone is charging, only when it is on battery.
But I'm trying something, the auto brigthness ! I desactivate auto brigthness, for the moment no ramdon reboots or shut down anymore, was testing 2 days now ! Perhaps try this solution !

Try to remove micro sd card, test the phone and if it does work ok change the card, that was my solution.
3 users in my office are seeing this
3 sensation users in my office are seeing this too, the UE "powers up" when you attempt to wake the screen i'm taking logcat but i'm yet to determine if the phone is powering off at some time when the screen is off or when you attempt to wake it.
i am seeing the battery stats are all over the place after it boots up.
this does not happen when it is being charged.
the logcat from my phone sometimes say a process has crashed (latest 03-06 17:06:18.995 I/ActivityManager( 321): Process com.htc.ereader.drmengine (pid 2742) has died.) but not in the majority of my logs they just appear to stop,
if anyone is proficient at logcat analysis i can share a log taken of a failure.
the 3 users in my office have:
1X S off and ICS ARHD
1X S off and ICS (trips)
1X S off GB unbranded
any help would be gratefully received
**EDIT**
having just pressed the power button to wake the screen(19:00) the phone booted again i was able to check the logcat log file and it stopped logging at 18:02 so it appears to be crashing when going into sleep or when in sleep mode rather than when the wake command is issued
also: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1500966 looks like the same issue.
Same problem on HTC Sensation with ICS
Hi,
Sorry to crush your hopes for ICS solving the problem but I'm running Android Revolution 6.5.0, a custom ICS ROM, on my Sensation and I'm having the same problem. Never had it with the stock ROM, though.
Also, it's never happened when plugged-in or when the battery is full. Seems to me that it shuts down more frequently when the battery level gets lower.
Anyone experience it the same way?
Anyone solved the problem by replacing the battery?
Cheers,
Stefan
Hi
any news about this?. Is this problem caused by a hardware failure finally?
Thank you!.

Well I got my battery replaced. Worked fine for about 3 months. Now the issue is back. I think it has something to do with the power management on the phone wearing down the battery. When I plug in my charger I feel electricity in the back cover and a humming sound in my headphones. Somethings wrong with the hardware. Going to send my phone in now

I get a weird humming feeling too, like a vibration as you run your finger over the back. Whats also weird is that if im holding the phone and then someone runs their finger on my hand, they also feel the static/vibration feeling. However as soon as I put the phone down the vibration feeling goes. Its so weird, if I send the phone off I'll be phoneless for weeks!
Very simple solution
Hi guys,
Most of us (myself included) are sometimes blinded by our knowledge of custom roms to not try the most obvious fix for this finally very simple issue...
I have a park of about 20 HTC sensation on my company and had the problem on several of them (mine is running a CM9 nightly , but all the others are stock). Had the motherboard/battery replaced on some of them, tried many settings (and on my phone, different roms) but it only offered a temporary and random improvement. I found the solution on a forum and I'm ashamed I never found it earlyer as it's so simple:
Remove your back cover and place a spacer (the thickness of one or two visit cards) between the top side (right part, just opposite to the connector) border of the battery and the chassis. This will ensure that the battery presses a bit harder on the connector. Without the spacer, you may notice that the battery is in a slightly skewed position, not totally parallel with the compartiment and therefore not pressing hard enough on the connector. We never had an unexpected shutdown since then !!!
Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is a common issue or not, but I'm desperately wanting the problem fixed. I've put up with it in this state for nearly a year now, and can no longer stand to deal with it anymore.
Ever since I put roms on my Inspire 4g it constantly turns off in my pocket, or just sitting there on a desk. Really, the only time it actually stays on without turning off is if you leave it on the charger. Which got me thinking that it could potentially only be a battery issue? With that being said, I have purchased a new battery, and it should be in sometime this week. However, the problem only started after putting roms on the phone. As I'm a n00b, I assumed there could be an issue with that.
The roms that I've had on it so far are Cyanogen, Coredroid 8(all series of 8), and now currently I have MIUI installed on it. The first rom was coredroid, and that's when the problem started. However, it hasn't let up with simply changing roms to combat the issue. Is there anything I can do? Is there any common mistake which causes this issue? Or does anyone else at all have this issue?
Back when the problem started, no one really offered any help or suggestions, outside of a new battery. Unfortunately I have to wait a week for the battery to arrive. In the meantime, I'd like to know what other possible trouble shooting I could do to see if the problem could be fixed in the meantime? I'm a full time Nursing student with a wife, and a child, so I'm definitely wanting the phone to be fixed.
When it does turn off, I have to pull out the battery, and reinsert it. That usually solves the problem, for a little while. However, if it goes back in the pocket, or I lay it back down somewhere, it could turn off multiple times. When it does that, I pull out the battery again and it boots up, but my sim card doesn't register. Once that happens, I usually just pull out the sim card, put it back in and it's good for a while again.
The problem is really inconsistent, sometimes it can go for days without turning off. Generally, if I leave it on the car charger, it's fine. But, once I go mobile with it, it'll turn off several times during normal usage. When it's in use, while I'm texting or talking it never shuts off. It only does it when it's idling.
So over all it could be a couple of things like when you flash new set of roms most cases if the dev of the Rom has an update to the Rom and they don't request a Full wipe then do so unless it can flashed over the previous Rom.
Or you can have a PD98img.zip file on your sd card that cause it to reboot. Delete that.
Or it can be sometimes a kernel issue flash a new one.

To make sure if its a battery issue, return to stock rom n see if it will shut off. If it does, definitely something is wrong.
I hope this works for u.
