hello i have topaz with wm6.5 and manila 2.1 !! i insalled the cab : Extra Camera Modes (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=523735) and since i uninstaled it my camera dont work (i cannot open the programm-it appears error and tells me to send or not to microsoft) how can i fix it? i did soft reset but nothing happened
i dont want to do hard reset
please help me
Can I ask why you uninstalled it?
Have you tried reinstalling it, to see if the camera works?
because i didn,t think its so usefull!! i reinstalled it and camera works again fine

Following wiki upgrading procedure, I have upgraded my MDA compact to 1.12 WWE. But Camera is not working, not even starting!.
Nor I can find Camera Link in programms. It looks like camera.cab is missing or bad installing, from extROM

But then nothing changed, only I got -album- application, which before was not there.
Simptoms:
when I push CAMERA button, it looks like "camera" is starting, but then after 2-3 ecs, it ABORTS

I'm hoping someone reading this has information that can help me. I have Nitro's latest ROM installed, and I am unable to play any video using Windows Media Player (v10). I can play the files just fine using TCPMP. Even videos shot using the camera can't be played. Nitro told me that no one else has seen this as far as he knows. I have seen this exact same problem listed in other device forums with WM6, but I haven't seen any solutions yet.
The error I get when trying to play the file is: "The source filter for this file could not be loaded." As far as I can see, this is a generic Windows Media Player error text.
So guys... Any help?

I don't get it... I flashed the ROM after format BINFS and everything.. Weird.
I have the same problem !!! The file you specified cannot be installed. It says that there is an error. Plz help I have the xperia phone and movies won't play neither on the wmp mobile nor the media panel.

Helped me with the same problem, from another ROM.
If I remember correctly Capabilities was set to 1.
Tried installing the HTC VideoPatch.cab and setting registry key to 1 and 0 but no luck on either cases.
Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this?
Can WMP be reinstalled somehow?

I have this very issue that the OP had, and the HTC fix CAB won't install for me... Any suggestions?
A way to install the fix in a different way?
I also get the same error message.
i've also tried the regedit and tried to install the htc video patch cab, no luck either even after numerous soft resets.
my videos and music files won't play on media player 10 however im able to stream vids.
i dont think we can re-install windows media player mobile 10, i haven't seen any available fo download.
Any thoughts?

I am having the exact same problem,but on an Advantage 7510 running michyprima's lite ROM. The suggested CAB would not install on my device, i assume because it is specific to the Tornado, or to smartphones. Does anybody know of a solution for my platform/OS?

In case this helps anyone, I repacked the VideoPatch cab so it installs on all devices. It unfortunately doesn't work on my current rom since the rom is probably missing other files as well.

Use iGO8 vers. 8.0.0.44366. That will do it.
I am having the same problem. HTC TOUCH and after installing IGO2008 the icon show that the device in thinking about something but the program it will not launch. I have tried with the 8.0.0.44366 version (replacing at first just the Igo8.exe and then all the files) but it was a no go for me. Any solution?
After a hard reset it worked.
IGO8 (update from juin) is the only version that works, previous versions don't...
After updating to this (WM6.1 Std. 5.2.1238.19208) cooked ROM, everything looking good.
But most of my installation CABs wont install because of "Installation was unsuccessful" error. Ive tried app unlocks with about 3 variations of Security/Policies settings, without success.
Have somebody the same complication or even solution?

I have no such problem. Today I installed all my programs from cab-files without any problems.
Try reinstall WM6.1 and use SDA Aplication Unlock.
actually, there is no problem. But when I wanna install .Net CF 3.5, yes there is a problem. I can't install it, err msg: please close other application, maximum the storage capacity. I just flash the rom and nothing was installed yet, so it totally empty (the storage). But when I install the .Net CF 2.0, it works. Does anyone have the same problem?
Why do you install .Net Framework 3.5? WM6.1 already has it.

I think it's better to do Hard Reset.
Maybe most 6.1 do, but my touch pro wm 6.1 came with net 2.0 and i have to install 3.5 after a hard reset. I install it then do the reg edit found here: http://pocketnow.com/how-to/tutorial-how-to-upgrade-to-microsoft-net-compact-framework-35

As for the not being able to install a cab... I am having a similar problem.
I cannot install ANY cab. There is no programs in the uninstall programs list. (There should be around 10 programs there?!?) AND I cant seem to delete any files (get a access denied error) all I have tried to delete so far is a couple of cab files) Tried with File Explorer and Total Commander.
Does anyone have any Ideas??
Just did a hard reset. installed: task manager, advanced config, clean ram, FIM(facebook program), google maps, HTC GPS tool, phm regedit, Total commander, touch in call screen tweek,, and pocket digital clock. (above in no order) The last program I installed was Clean ram. I'm no expert but I do know my way around WM and I am totally lost on this. Is there anyway to fix this without another Hard Reset??
edit: Just gonna do a hard reset. I'll report back if I have this problem again. *sigh*

I.ve flashed my Touch Cruis to the original Dutch HTC WM 6.1.
After the flash a peace of TomTom is still in the machine.
I can't remove via Programms and it's also not possible to reinstall the program.
Does anybody know how to solve this problem.
I also did a hard reset but this won't solve the problem either.
Hope somebody knows what i have to do now

I.ve got new information. In the Windows directory there's a file called TTN.cab.
This file seems to be "read only and system.
I.ve try to change the attributes with TotalCommander but that won't work.
Can't delete the file because of the attributes. I've serch the registry for TomTom entrancesbut couldt't find one either Please is there somebody who can help me.
Total Commander clearly shows it's part of the ROM, and I'm afraid you won't be able to remove it.

Ok if that's true why can't i install ie again.
Do i maybe have to upgrade TomTom tot a newer version because the version i have won't install either anymore. By the way the version i got was installed before the Upgrade to WM 6.1
Hard reset will install all original software (including TomTom), but will also delete all your data and non-ROM software, so do backup first.
I don't use TomTom, so I don't know if upgrade is possible.
