MAny people telling about problems with wiffi turn on:
- Not available by clicking on "g"
- not available to remap to hardwarebutton
- Not recognizing after pushing by commmanager
This comes up in several ROMs and I mentioned a soulution in many threads.
For some it works,for some not.
Just give it a try:
HKLM\Comm\TnetWln1\Parms\HTCPreloadStatus --> 1
HKLM\Comm\TnetWln1\Parms\HTCPreloadWifi --> 1
and check if WifiInit.ink is in \windows\startup folder.
Please tell me with which ROM it works and for which not.
Thank you.

This did the the trick for me running NottoSmart Vanilla. I had wifiinit.lnk in startup, it was the reg key values that did the trick for me.
I don't have any SPB programs installed, although I did try one out, but then uninstalled it, so maybe that is what "broke" itm since I know wireless was working when I installed the ROM. I currently have the following programs installed if that helps...
Voice Command 1.6
Pocket Mechanic
Sharkey Softkey Changer
JamDat Worms
Registry Wizard
Battery Status 1.3 beta
Live Search
TOtal Commander
CorePlayer
CoolCamera
Treo Picture dialer
SP TimeSync
PQzII Wizard
Phone Alarm with B&W Pure skin
Foxit PDF
Tascal CloseAll
THANKS!!! for figuring this out!
Just to be sure, are the correct values in HKLM\Comm\TnetWln1 key or in HKLM\Comm\TnetWln1\Params?

Thanks
(I answerd this settings so often that I now wrote it wrong)
Sorry to all searching the wrong settings - now it is right in first post.
Here's the cab file for those who doesn't want to search registry. If there's no improvement, simply uninstall it to restore previous state.
HTCPreloadStatus doesn't stick?
In my current ROM HTCPreloadWiFi is already set to 1 and HTCPreloadStatus is set to 0. If I change HTCPreloadStatus to 1, exit the Registry editor, leave it for a while and soft reset it always reverts back to 0. I have verified the change is being made by exiting the Registry editor and then opening it again and checking and it does indeed say it's set to 1. However a soft-reset later and it's back to 0.....

Here is my experience. I was having intermittent inability to enable WiFi. Sometimes this was rectified with a soft reset, other times not. I checked the two keys and they were both set to zero.
I applied the changes and re-booted after waiting awhile. I noticed that the WiFi came on after reset without having to enable it. I am running mUn with the collected fixes from NotTooSmart.
I have since toggled and re-toggled and re-booted my Wizard and all seems well. However, HTCPreloadStatus is set to zero on mine regardless of whether the WiFi is on or not.
It is all working though.

Thanks for this and the pointer to the 10 button comm manager screen. After installing the new comm manager, doing the reg fix for that, and then applying this cab, it appears my Wifi starts up each time with no issues (in the minimal testing I've done over the last couple of hours).

Have you tried to softreset by switching off with 5sec Powerbutton? And the turn on again?

Hi there m8. I just couldnt install the new comm manager. I just upload it to my device and try it to install in the main memory but i just cant.
This is weird. :s
Any advice ???
Yep, that is weird. Went right onto mine with no issues, and I'm also running XPlore 1.1. Have you tried doing a soft reset and then loading it again? Maybe putting the cab directly on your phone and then running it from your phone?
Yes... that did it.

I realized I was having the same problem, came back and, VOILA, there is already a solution to the problem of the solution!
However, I seem to be a little dense today but I cannot figure out what 10 button comm manager screen was pointed to.
based on the screen shots from the following post and using google I found this post in the Hermes forum that seemed to have the file specified, but I wanted to check before I installed something ported from the trinity to the hermes on a wizard
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1207712
Also, this may be mild hijacking, but has anyone tried the other cabs in that post, specifically the sim manager and bluetooth file transfer?

Uh, isn't the commmanager question directly related to the thread since it was proposed as a solution to not have the registry values persist?

The commanager was asked for by people using xplore and don´t like green commmanger.
It might be a soulution.
Everything what would help is wellcome. But the thread started to get bigger and bigger discussion several problems.
It was started to evaluate the function of the registrysettings.

Right, and it was determined that the registry settings work, but only temporarily, since they go back to 0 after a second soft reset. from what I understood, installing the different comm manager either allowed the settings to persist or made them irrelevant, which is why I thought a discussion of taht belonged in this thread. Am I completely wrong in the above assumption?

That was mentioned by me.
To your question. My settings stay even after softreset. Do you change it and turn off device by powerbutton for 5seconds? For this ever works regarding to reghacks.
Didn´t wanted to stress you. Discussion is the way this forum lives!

Yes, thats the one. But for the wizard there is a reg key you have to remove or it breaks your Wifi. Please look at the XPlore thread for discussion on this (or as suggested, start a new thread specifically about the 10 button comm manager. It probably needs a seperate thread anyway).
Hi all, a bit of a strange request.
I've recently bought a double din dvd (double height) car head unit, that has bluetooth & gps built in.
It runs win ce 4.2, with a reduced interfrace, limiting functions to gps, dvd, tv, radio, and bluetooth for phone.
it has two sd cards (no usb)
Apparently it can run route66 sat nav software, but I thought I'd try tomtom 6.
You can specify which nav software to run by specifying a path to an .exe file only.
Suprisingly tomtom runs, I get the disclaimer screen, then on press I agree, it displays "no maps found"
It's a long shot but does any one know how to:
a) Resolve the no maps problem
or
b) get access to more of the win ce o/s?
Where did you put the maps to?
Interesting. What radio brand/model are we talking here?
Maybe try inserting hte SD card in the other SD slot? mabe tomtom is looking in the wrong place....
Its a generic brand (from china)
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/T258-6-5-Two-...ameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting
Good unit.
I tried the maps in various locations (all on the sd card)
1. in the \Storage Card\Program Files\navigator\great britain
2. \Storage Card\great britain
3. \great britain
4. Just in the root.
Any ideas?
have you tried tomtom6 on a pda and found that it actually works?
where abouts are you in the uk?
Yep, I'm copying the installation that is working on my pda to this device via SD card.
I'm in london by the way
nice looking unit there!
I would have a look at the way win CE (which is a kernal that wm is based on) displays the storage card. In WM /storage card/ is a cute name that is given to the removable storage and tt6 may be looking for that specific lable.

Tomtom on wince
Hi
I am having similar issue i have purchased a similar product..
I have used the SD card from my PDA XDAII and I cant even run the application... How did you run the application???
I went into the Nav setup and hit options
The Navi options, which allows to to specify the path of the exe for the unit to run for sat nav.
TOMTOM
I have tried the same but it doesnt load the software...
any solution to the 1st thread these days?
I have the exact same problem as the original thread poster.
Did any one hear about/ solved it?
I can not even run Tomtom
Hi I got the similar unit. however, I cant even run tomtom. I did specify the .exe file to run for the nav. however, it just keeps disappointing to run it.
Heres how its done..
OK gentleman heres how its done..
This post is from another forum... His name is louthefirst on the forum i visit.
(1) Download this http://www.megaupload.com/?d=59W9BLJD
(2) Copy entire contents of Zip to SD Card an a file called TomTom
(3) Insert SD card in T7000 and turn T7000 on
(4) In navigation options screen select
\tomtom\OTHER SOFTWARE NEEDED\miotool
(5) Go back to navigation main screenand select navigate, (this will bring up a keyboard)
(6) In the top left corner there is a little square that hides and unhides the keyboard, HIDE IT.
(7) Go back to the navigation options screen and select
\tomtom\OTHER SOFTWARE NEEDED\RegEdit
(8) Go back to main screen and select, (this will bring up a regedit screen)
(9) Use registry editor go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SHELL FOLDERS
My Document
Click on My Documents and it will bring up a little box the bottom box need changing from my documents to \storagecard (REMEMBER BACKSLASH AND NO SPACES) To change it you will need to press the button in the top left to bring back the onscreen keyboad.
(10) Exit regeditor
(11) Go to navigate options and select \tomtom\tomtom navigator.exe
(12) Go back to navigate main screen and press navigate
Follow tomtom setup screen and thats it....
All thats left to do is add your MAP to \tomtom\ on the SD Card (GUAM IS ALREADY THERE SO YOU CAN TEST IT)
hi i have the same prob.
i did what you said in the instructions,and all seemed to work untill i rebooted my system,
it says no map found so i went into my registry and the My Document
has returned back to how it was instead of renamed to storagecard,
anyone any ideas please
ok i have the same unit, i can load tomtom fine, however the map keeps jumping when i drive, when im stationary, its fine.
Whats causing this?????
hello can anyone help with this???
this is the system:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....m=260250817967&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=016
apparently using Windows CE 4.2
The GPS keeps shifting when i drive so the maps keep jumping... driving me nutz now!
I was looking at getting one of those units for my Octavia, but was worried about TomTom running (or not).
It sounds like it definitely works.
I was really hoping to get TomTom 7 working on it but it sounds like there may be some issues with TT6?
I hope you work out why the map is jumping - do you mean it snapping to other roads which you are not on?
I have that very infrequently with my PDA. If you reset it and get a new satellite lock it cures it. Perhaps your GPS aerial needs repositioning behind the dash to improve sensitivity? DId you check the aerial hasn't come out of the rear of the unit?
it's considered rude to repeatedly ask for help but not reply with your result...
lol, sorry sickboi - i've been in kenya and the free wifi out there dnt really work (even the one u pay for at the hotel too!)
is there a tomtom 7?
i didnt think was a such a thing as tomtom 7 ... can anyone confirm this?
i still dont have the prob sorted sicko, so if u know of anyway i can sort it, would be great.

Hello,
QuickGPS doesn't download ephemeral data. I always have a good internet connectiond and I tried it often. It succeeded for me exactly once. The first time I tried it. I powercycled my device. After that it was possible to install the cab (I think the old quickgps application was running). And after that I was able to download my ephemeral data.

Ok, so here's my experience with my O2 Orbit 2, after two frustrating days and reading most topics on QuickGps, I think I understand what the problem is. So here's how i fixed my phone's QuickGps without installing any cab but just 1 download and playing with the registry.
My Orbit2's QuickGps worked perfectly for some months but and at some point some days ago it just stopped working. I started reading the topics here, and seen there's so many answers... but none worked.
I've set the registry keys as above... and nothing.
Well, that's because it's not just setting the keys. It's a bit more. A friend of mine also helped me, he has the same phone as I do (O2 Orbit 2) and I borrowed it for one day to compare the content of the two phones (registry and files).
So, the main cause why QuickGps stops working is because at some point, the ephemerides download that is stored in \Windows\xtra.bin gets corrupted.
So, if your QuickGps stops working, what you need to do first is check the size of the file \Windows\xtra.bin. If it's less than about 42k then it's corrupted. It's usual size is about 48K.
So you need to delete that file and download a new copy manually.
1. Download
http://service.mio-tech.com/eeservice/packedephemeris.ee
and rename it to xtra.bin. Then connect your phone via ActiveSync and copy that file to your mobile's Windows folder, eg \Windows\xtra.bin
2. Disconnect Activesync
3. Do a softreset
4. After reset, Launch QuickGps, you will see that it has updated the ephemerides data. You need to do this so the values of the registry get updated correctly.
Note: When you do this, the following registry keys should get updated by QuickGps automatically:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\QuickGPS]
"RemindTime"
"Bias"
"ExpiredTime"
So you don't need to edit them.
5. Kill QuickGps
6. Do a softreset
7. After reset, launch a registry editor and make sure you have these values in
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\QuickGPS]
"folder"="\Windows\"
"region"="GB"
"INIDate"="20060531"
"remind"=dword:00000000
"actSync"=dword:00000001
"auto"=dword:00000000
"NotifyID"=dword:00001960
"INIFile"=""
"path"=""
"EEFile"="xtra.bin"
"curRegion"=dword:00000000
"curIP"=dword:00000000
"pwd"="1"
"authname"="1"
Please keep in mind that the key entry
"region"="GB" is region dependant, so you might have different entries like "region"="US" or "region"="AU" depending on where your location is.
8. Kill the registry editor, and re-launch it. Make sure the values from step 7 are in there and then kill the registry editor again. Repeat step 8 until you have the above values in the registry (I found out that for some reason, some registry entries were changed when phone was connected via ActiveSync or after I've run QuickGps and not softreset after).
9. Connect the phone to ActiveSync and launch Internet Explorer or a browser and go to any site, like Google or whatever. Once the page has been loaded, just wait a few seconds and kill the browser.
Explanation: you need to do this step because sometimes QuickGps just fails to connect even if there is an internet connection available. So you basically just force an internet connection. I was stuck 1 day at this point, my friend's phone and mine had the exact same xtra.bin (copied from his mobile to mine) and the same registry keys. However, my phone wasn't working and his was So sometimes it's not just the registry keys it is about enforcing a connection as well.
10. Run QuickGps and attempt to "Download" an update. It should not fail.
Just don't run anything manually inbetween steps, follow them.
If for any reason this guide does not work for you, then the problem most likely lies in the registry keys and/or the QuickGps's internet connection.
This method worked for me, hope it works for you. Let me know
Nice, my Quickgps is now working . Thanks

Mmm, yeah. Mine was working fine until 2 weeks or so ago, would ask me to download every 6 days and complete that just fine. Since then it fails to connect. I ended up just setting it not to try and download at all. It was getting annoying.
Is the update server dead or...?

I wonder.. I put the question to HTC and tehy suggested to do a hard reset... not very helpful.. What solution? Have you tried the manipulation indicated above? Did it fix the problem?
Telus touch diamond
I need to do a full backup before I send the unit in to repair the screen, which is totally black.
The last time I used it was in disk drive mode, and now I can't change it back to activesync mode.
How can I switch the unit to activesync mode?
1. I've tried using the up/down wheel buttons on a working touch diamond, and it doesn't do anything on the activesync/disk drive popup menu when I plug the diamond into a PC.
2. There's no way to start the start menu using the hardware buttons, so I can't navigate to the settings that way.
3. I've never used remote control software, and I can't install it now - no screen.
4. Can I change a registry setting remotely?
5. Sending it to the states or overseas to somebody who can repair the screen without wiping it is an option, as long as they don't change the hardware. Telus doesn't allow foreign serial numbers on their network.
You can access the registry with CeRegeditor-but I'm not sure you'll be able to do it with disk drive mode selected. This is the reg key you want, but I am not sure you can do it yourself:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\USBtoPC]
"SyncMode"=dword:00000000
Here is a cab I made-maybe you can run it off your sd card. Good luck!
Thanks for helping.
CEregedit (or SRregedit) requires activesync running, so that won't work.
And I can copy your cab file to the internal storage on the diamond, but I have no way to run it.
This is harder than I thought it would be.
Ug, forgot you don't have an sd card. Does the internal memory support autorun? If so, create a folder on it called 2577, rename the cab autorun.exe and do a soft reset. It's a long shot, but maybe it will install automagically. Or, do you have mortscript on the phone? If so, I bet you could get the mortscript to autorun
RegWriteDWord("HKLM","\Software\OEM\USBtoPC","SyncMode",0)
Put that script in a text file, rename it autorun.exe and give it a shot.
Edit: You probably don't need the soft reset. When you disconnect from the usb, if the storage memory has an autorun function, it should occur then.
It looks like the internal memory does support autorun, without a soft reset.
I put the cab in 2577 and renamed it.
When I disconnect, there's a splink sound which I'm sure means a popup asking me to press OK in the top right corner or Accept/Continue in the bottom left corner, neither of which I can do. None of the hardware buttons are Enter/Continue buttons. I tried the dpad button anyway.
I don't think I ever installed mortscript, but I tried that too. Same sound, and it's still in disk drive mode.
The cab almost saved me (TP2 screen unresponsive). Able to launch it but still in "Disk Drive" mode afterwards (Touch Pro2) =(
I can run the Registry editor bundled with the NRG rom but can't navigate without screen to get the right key (or even enter one)... Could anyone transform this code in a cab file (without install confirmation) ? Thanks in advance

EDIT : I finally achieved making those registry values into a cab but can't install it successfully (errors in value/keys maybe),... Anyone can help provide the right thing to do to activate Activesync by default again ? Thanks
Or is there any way to put it in bootloader mode to reinstall with the former rom without activesync ? From sd card maybe ? please...
Installed the Sprint Stock 6.5 ROM (upgrading from Stock 6.1 ROM) and I have 2 issues. (1) I was able to USB tether via ICS and WModem Fix cab and wifi tether via HTC WifiSharing cab before (no registry edits) with no problem. After installing the update, I cannot tether with either. I don't want to use PdaNet because I've read it is not as consistent as the cabs. I live in a rural area where broadband is almost non-existent and was excited that the cab worked on 6.1. The ICS cab downloads and creates a Sprint option, but the PC will not connect to the network. After clicking connect, the status changes to "check usb cable" and just stays there. Nothing is wrong with the cable, because Active Sync works fine. I installed Mr. X Tethering Tracking Hotfix cab, and it didn't help. I installed Calkulin's Tethering Hotfix cab, and it didn't work either. I even downloaded Merlin (Marlin) registry editor & attempted my first registry edit following Boo Boo's instructions, and that didn't work. Someone please tell me what the problem could be. And, no, I don't get the 67 error. I have an active data connection, but the tethering just won't work. Should I reflash the 6.5 ROM to clear the cabs and registry edits (remove programs doesn't remove some of these cabs)?
(2) Problem on 6.1 and now 6.5. Seems I have a ghost text message. My Inbox folder path is showing 1 unread text message, though, there isn't one. Against my own will, I even cleared out my text folder (in, out, draft, sent & deleted), and it still shows. Any suggestions on this as well? Besides those two issues, I like the 6.5 update.
Sprint TouchPro2 (stock 6.5)
I'm wifi sharing on my TP2 (WM6.5) with no probs. Can you give me some pointers on gett USB tethering going? I've installed ICS and WMonde Fix cab and Mr. X and MightyMike Tethering Tracking Hotfix cab but can't find any new applications on my phone.
Thnx,
found this over at ppc geeks it seems to do the trick...
- Enable USB Teathering -
(please omit the "" in all of these entries)
1. Go to: [HKLM\Services\CMGuardian]
2. Create a new DWORD Value called "Flags" and set the value data to "4"
(if it is already there then skip)
3. Softreset
4. Go to: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing]
5: Delete the "isext.dll" entry
6. Go to: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing\settings]
7. Change "ForceCellConnection" from "PhoneAsModem" to "Sprint"
8. Softreset
**You should now be able to use ICS, but make sure your data connection is already
intialized prior to using (open a web browser of check your mail) or you may be
asked for a user name and password.**

The problem I've been having thus far (on my Touch Pro2, WM 6.5) is that I can set ForceCellConnection to "Sprint", but when I softreset, it's automagically set back to "Phone as Modem".
I've seen suggestions that Windows/HTC_CM_Guardian.exe is the culprit, but replacing that file with an empty exe by the same name hasn't solved the problem for me.
So I'm trying this suggestion now. Fingers crossed. Can you verify... is the "Flags" value supposed to be a DWORD (as opposed to String or otherwise)?
Also, I'm intrigued by this entry [HKLM\Services\CMGuardian\Dll]. Perhaps it's that CM_Guardian_Service.dll that's the real (or new?) culprit which is causing the registry to be reset. Do I dare replace that dll with a dummy dll?

UPDATE: I just checked my registry after following lnando84's instructions. (Indeed, "Flags" should be a DWORD value of 4.) The value of "Sprint" wasn't reset on softreset, and USB tethering is working for me. Thank you!
