I believe that's limited to US residents only.
Resco Photo Manager is a really good program, though some of its functionality is duplicated with the HTC Album. But it goes a lot further than HTC, letting you do editing and showing you detailed EXIF data and so on.
Give it a try, it's great.
Pocket Artist is the most comprehensive... even allows for sharpening and noise reduction... all the usual tools are there including drawing tools also.
I also use Resco Photo Manager (update to Resco Photo Viewer).... VERY finger friendly... all your basic color, brightness, saturation, crop functions and more. It also allows you to upload to FB, Flickr, Twitter, etc.... VERY good program and loads fast....
Wish one could find something like this would be really nice

XnView is a little finicky at times, but does the job for me. I mainly need basic editing (crop, resize, convert, etc.). The developers website is at http://www.xnviewpocket.org/home_uk.php

But that is for Windows Mobile. This thread is posted in the Android Apps and Games section. You had my hopes up for a second. Now I'm sad.
Ditto. After searching resco and photo manager for several minutes I realized there was no such app for Android. :*(
i just waiting for best advice...
I want a gif viewer too. That would be awesome! The thing with android is that it's still relatively new, so you probably have to wait a while before all the good apps start to come out like they do for WinMo

But there has been very little talk about having this feature on the android phones.. so who is to say some dev is actually working on it?
I would like to have the gifs animate like they are supposed to on mms, emails, web and so forth..
GIFs have a proprietary format. Google will not implement a GIF viewer because of the GIF licensing terms. You can implement it yourself though.

GIFs do have a proprietary format, but that has nothing to do with why we won't see them implemented. They have been around forever and the licensing fees for it are so cheap it's a joke. Here is why it isn't integrated...
A long time ago camera phones were cool, but expensive. Most people didn't have one and those who did either couldn't shoot video or other video was very short and or terrible quality. Once they shot it, data networks or the RAM on other phones would not allow them to be sent or received. Thinking of a way to compress videos, they couldn't come up with something reasonable so all carriers used animated GIFs as they were low in file size and took up like 1/80th of even the shortest video clip usually....plus, there was already a plethora of them available due to No flash technology available yet or the slow implementation of the aforementioned tech. So all the major carriers started selling GIFs with their polyphonic ringtones...
Then comes the smart phone. Not only do almost all have cameras, but data is becoming a big deal You started to see Blcakberries, Win Mo devices, and Treos that didn't play GIFs. Why? Because handset manufacturers and carriers figured if you are sending GIFs, you would be the type of person who wants to send audio and video as well. Carriers make a HUGE push on data, Smart phones catch fire, and they stop licensing GIFs so that they die away.
Problem is you uncle who sends you funny crap all the time "Just needs a flip phone" because he is still afraid of the smart phone tech and afraid he won't understand how to use it...
That being said, there are still GIFs made today and a lot of classic ones that are hilarious. It would be nice to view them and if someone made an app, the royalties or one time licensing fee they had to pay would be well worth their profit.
P.S. I was working in the wireless industry at the shift and constantly being informed of these types of initiatives. It pissed customers off, but it sold smart phones which forced customers to add on a data pack pushing the MDRE on each account. Verizon still forces all smart phone customers to carry a data pack for the length of their contract.
any word on an app that does this?
cyan's browser does this already.
Is there anyone who can post a link to cyans browser so that i can install it on my non rooted N1 please?
You must be rooted, because without root permissions you can not access the /system/ partition.
I'm sure there were other changes that need to be made to the system other than just an apk, like a lib file for example which is also in /system/.
You can try it out by downloading the rom and extracting it yourself.
Cyanogens browser displays gifs very good. But if you save them, there is no way that I'm aware of to view them on the phone. I would love to have a gif viewer.
yes a Gif viewer would rock, I mean we all use gifs in the new world >.<

No it doesn't..Root explorer brings you to the system gallery app, which doesn't support GIF's. It just shows the first frame for me.
cyans browser haven't tested yet, but will when get my incredible, seems like a good browser, but would be really nice to have a dedicated program to just view gifs if you ask me. is this possible? Maybe a gallery program which allows you to look at normal photos and .gif animations all in the same program so you can just flick throughwhat ever you have in the folder?
Just a query as used to do this on my Omnia -.-
i just loaded a gif file and it played with the standard picture viewer
Yes, HTC pic viewer plays gifs (edit: ) and the browser too
I'm sure these have been asked multiple times but as a devoted 6.5 user who dabbles in android for gaming I am wondering, what are the benefits of WP7 over 6.5? I know its more locked down and blah blah but I didnt ask for the negatives. I don't expect a phone to be perfect in its first rendition, the original android was lame. I am absolutely in love with the UI so I want to know what kind of cool features it has (other than xbox live of course.)
Also I'm currently heavily theming my phone. If anyone has an image of the little arrow in the circle on the WP home page I'd much appreciate if I could get my hands on it. Thanks again guys.
Just want to know if I should get the venue pro or just grab whatever android phone is top o' the line that week.
The greatest benefit, in my opinion, is the consistency in handling and design.
Even the apps are fitting perfectly because of the design guidelines that MS is giving.
WP7 is all about gorgeous design, fluid animations, exact feedback and easy usage.
I mean, I used WM5 up to WM6.5.3 and it was great but WP7 is awesome -it saves me a lot of time of customising, flashing and bugfixing, so I may concentrate on the important things in life and still don't have the feeling to miss anything.
WP7 is the latest operating system that in my opinion can now take on Android and iOS.
It may be locked down but it does have some really good apps for example Netflix. There will be a big update which will add quite a few features and the UI is smooth and looks amazing.
I enjoy:
People hub - great idea. I synced Facebook, LinkedIn and several other sites on Windows Live and boom, it shows up in my people hub. People hub automatically integrates with all smart links to call/email/sms people and post on their facebook/windowslive or linkedin accounts as well as showing their profile pic when they call.
Zune. Hands down pure win. Some minor bugs with crashes in marketplace right now but other than that the best music experience on the go ever. zunepass ftw
xbox live - great interface, great experience and great games. prices are affordable and games seem to be well designed & thought out and perform great!
Netflix = pure win
apps - Growing app market.. of course in the 1.x days so apps are fluid and missing some features but some have pulled off the UI nicely such as IMDB and others. Foursquare needs a little more functionality but has the basics
office 2010 - it just works.. creating documents is sort of "meh" but being able to see working documents and update them is nice
What i hope gets fixed / feature req:
RIght now "share" context menus aren't consistent - some will let me SMS something, others focus on email. Wouldn't mine "Sharing" the album i'm listening to on twitter or facebook at times so on and so forth.
zune stream to xbox like zune hd does - would be nice
ebook/audio book store in zune
more tightly integrated services in the cloud - filtering, lists, ability to sync skydrive with local content more easily - bookmarks, favorites, docs. "sharepoint light" built into windows live maybe?
I dont really think anything will "bring down" android so to speak but iphones on its way out and its about time that theres a new leader of phones of that nature (locked OS.) I will likely be getting wp7 but yeah umm, does anyone have access to that image? I've been hunting for quite some time now.

I wish they wouldn't. Just use Amazon. There's tons of books in the Android Market that do nothing but clutter up search results (search for Microsoft, for example).
Leave books to people who deal with books and deal with Apps and Games, IMO.

There is Windows Live SkyDrive. They just need an App to allow you to browse you SkyDrive folders without using a browser, IMO.
Syncing Skydrive with local content is sketchy. Carriers may not like that at all due to data usage, and some users can go over their data limit if they aren't paying strict attention to that.

There is no reason they couldn't embrace B&N, Borders or Amazon as an ebook marketplace. They could extend it from zune to bing to the desktop.

They should have "wifi" only features - such as sync/mesh support. They already have automagic skydrive upload for images - i wish they would allow that to queue up for when wifi is enabled to save bandwidth
Is that true Zune is RESIZING pictures when synced from PC to the phone?

might depend on the size of the photo. Downloaded a pic off of photobucket, it synced to my computer and wasn't compressed or resized at all.

I want to put it on my phone through Zune, I've heard it will be resized if it's big.
Any of you use this phone for taking notes during college?
I'm looking for a nice app to take college notes (something like ms paint, because standard android drawing apps won't let you draw straight lines)
Please share your experience!
Jeroen
Skitch or Smart Diagram
Skitch and Smart Diagram both allow drawing of lines. I think both are free, although the free SD version has a limit on document numbers.
Skitch has the advantage of a free-form note and integration with Evernote (a beautiful app if ever there was one).
phatpad is also another paid app and works well with the Note.
If you go to their website, you can try it free for 24hrs by downloading the apk.
I'm not a student but there are apps like Soonr Scribble, ezPDF and iAnnotate that allow drawing and scribbling on top of your documents, etc. Then there are also Mindjet, and Epistle. Would like to hear what others have to say!
There is also FreeNote in the market. But after initial enthusiasm I uninstalled it. But others may like it better that I did.
I found/tried Phatpad yesterday. It is great because you can freely place everything everywhere: Text, scribbled notes and graphics. You can edit everything if you reopen a document, which you cannot do with Skitch (which would be a great app otherwise). Phatpad allows to lasso-select and move parts of the document around. That's a rare find for android 2.3 apps.
All in all it's a well composed app.
But ... it's very buggy. And for the prize (which otherwise would be absolutely justified) it's too buggy IMO.
If you can wait for ICS there are a few free-note-taking apps for 3.0 and higher which look very promising.
I am getting a note to use in my college courses and I am going to load up ICS right away and use "antipaper HD" or something along those lines. I tried it out on my nexus and it looks very promising. You get to keep separate notebooks and everything.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I used Mindjet just to create a brainstorm for my dissertation. I need to reinstall Evernote really as I find that handy. It may not be relevant for you, but Dropbox is handy for sharing files.
I wanted something that enabled drawing on GDocs stuff, just like you can draw on their website version. Now THAT would be something. I take notes for college too with the Note, but i keep whatever i have to draw separate from the main stuff in gdocs.

Do you guys know of any notebook/note app that enables auto zoom? Lecturenotes and Antipaper requires you to manually advance to the next part when you zoom in so can anyone tell me if there's an app that moves automatically when you've reached end of paper? Thanks guys!!
Hey peeps
Been looking for a long time and finally found two ok to good apps for Music Notation:
Maestro- https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5yZXZlbGxpLm1hZXN0cm8iXQ..
Musical Note Pad Free- https://play.google.com/store/apps/...DEsIm9yZy5lbXppLm11c2ljYWxub3RlcGFkLm1haW4iXQ..
Please post any you come across.
Christ bless!
I'm just using a PDF of staff paper, which I load into Lecture Notes and then write on top of. Doesn't do playback or MIDI export or anything. But, I can write any kind of score and use any kinds of notes (durations), time signatures, etc., that I want...
Cool. Music notepad is pretty easy and cool
Both of those that you posted look like you can only see a few bars or one line at a time. That would bug the heck out of me.
I might start using LectureNotes, but for now I use the preloaded Music Staff background on the S-note app.

Excuse me sir, but how did you load a PDF of staff paper into LectureNotes?
@rocketail: LectureNotes allows to set an image as paper background. If you have a PDF file and wish to set that as background, you need to convert it to an image (PNG or JPEG) first.
NotateMe (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.neuratron.notateme) also seems wondeful, although pricey.
I remember seeing SymphonyPen, which was buggy, but can't find it anymore.
A good app that uses writing for annotation of pdf
I know of lecture notes but I am looking for something like notability/zoomnotes on iOS where there a zoom box for writing
I use ez PDF reader... it's got everything I could ask for to read and annotate highlight, markup PDF files. page size mixed with the N9 looks perfect

Thats my first choice, tried ezPDF, but it doesn't look good. For me XODO doesn't offer all the functions ezPDF does, but looks gorgeous, superb functionality and the best thing is the dropbox connectivity. It uploads them automatically and I can use them on my mac. Unfortunately there is no zoom box nor a feature to integrate pictures in-between.
Try this one and if you find any better please tell me!!
Can try RepliGo Reader
I use Xodo Docs (xodo.com)
Its the best & is free. Also its score & store app reviews it better than any other app in the productivity category.
