Hello, I recently bought an HTC Snap s521. Upgraded it to WM6.5. It is an "unlocked" phone.
My provider is offering now 3g, using the 850Mhz band but the phone won't connect to it.
They tell me I need a Radio Rom upgrade or the USA ROM version.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Rolo
you need use the special phone which can support 850 M UMTS.
S521 is 900. You need a S522 or an S523 from Telstra for 850MHz. You can get only Edge on a S521 in USA.

I knew when I got my Touch Pro which is the T7272 model that it would in all liklihood not work with T Mobile for 3G speeds. But is there a ROM Hack that allows it to?
Assuming nothing changes, if I get an AT and T account will I get 3G speeds on At and t?

No, no and no. No smartphone besides the T-Mobile G1 is known to support T-Mobile US's 3G band. The T7272 won't support AT&T's 3G bands. You'll want the AT&T Fuze for that. Best Buy sells the Touch Dual, Touch Diamond and soon the Sony Ericsson Xperia, which will all support both of AT&T's 3G bands. They are also unsubsidized and very expensive. The European Xperia supports AT&T's 1900 MHz 3G band but not their 850 Mz 3G band.
hi there
well my problem is that when i choose the band of 850. the phone cant really find my network band......
im from costa rica , and our 3g band is 850.
i used to have htc pro from att and it worked 100%
but now with my tmobile, i really dont know why i cant connect to my 3g network. EVEN that my phone gives me the option to change the BAnd.
T-Mobile's 3G band is 1700/2100MHz. Most of the world is different. If your phone isn't T-Mobile branded, it probably has no way to get on the T-Mobile 3G network.

i sent my friend a x7510 on o2 from uk its got a custom rom and its unlocked.
i have used the following networks tmobile,3network,vectone and o2.those who live in uk would know that 3network can be a pain because their sims dont work in all phones.
my friend is telling me his sim dosent work.is the x7510 of uk different to the x7510 in usa.or is it somthing to do with quad or tri band.

The X7510/Flint will work under GSM on T-Mobile USA but not over 3G/HSPA. T-Mobile uses a non-standard transmission frequency in USA of 1700/2100 UMTS, but the X7510 only has 1900/2100 UMTS
It will still work on GSM but may need to be manually constrained to GSM under Phone/Settings/Band. Phone calls should be OK, but data will only be possible at GSM speeds (up to 100kbps if Edge is available or about 30-40kbps for basic GSM)
thanks, neilM.
adamo86, enjoy the touch pro 2 when it comes.
I just picked up a lightly used Telus TP2
HardSPL, SimUnlock, 2.32.00WU radio, and recent Energy Rom installed
When I put an active sim from a PC mobile (bell reseller) and have phone set to gsm only mode, phone can only see Rogers network
PC mobile (bell) sim package says phone needs to support UMTS/HSPA on 850mhz and 1900mhz
On HTC site the tech specs for the Telus phone show
1X EVDO REV A 800/1900MHz, HSPA 2100MHz, GSM/ GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900MHz
So did I make a mistake by buying this phone, I do not want to activate with Telus CDMA, I want to use this phone with a Bell SIM.
I'm really hoping there is just some setting somewhere that I didn't know to set.
hi just purchased a USA htc win phone ,does anyone know if 4g will work in UK ,if so witch provider cheers
no body tried then
not much happening here then
Not sure
I have just bought from USA a HTC One M8 T-Mobile 0P6B140 which I have unlocked. It is working fine but although it shows it is on Vodafone UK 4G, using the app NET CHECK it reports 3G HSDPA/HSUPA 57mbit. The only thing that I haven't got working is MMS. I have entered the APN details for my contract Vodafone sim which I found on the net, and there are various, but it tells me it cannot send and to contact mobile op. for settings.
As for the 4G, I live in a rural area it may be that Vodafone are transmitting on band 20 (800 MHz) and this phone doesn't support that. Vodafone only have the 800 and 2600 frequencies, band 7 and 20. My phone uses 3 (1800), 4 (AWS). 7(2600), 13 (not sure). I might be wrong with these.
Overall I am pleased, the phone is superbly built and it gives me something to think about!
I have the mms working fine, it was just the APN/MMS settings. So it is just the 4G not working but I can stream video from my synology ds214play with the 3g HSDPA/HSUPA.
Hi, LTE support depends on which carrier version you are bringing to Europe. My Verizon version did not work because it supports only "non-European" LTE Bands.
Now that I am using the AT&T version I can use full LTE in Europe (except the 800mhz band, which doesn´t matter for my country).
Be also aware that AT&T and obviously T-Mobile change the firmware so the phone will display 4G when in reality it is on 3.5/3.75G and LTE when it is on real 4G.
Cheers,
T.
