I have US 3G version of HTC touch diamond without front camera. My OEM screen protector wears out. I need to buy a crystal clear screen protector WITHOUT the camear hole. But it seems all of them have a camera hole. Does wanyone know where to buy one without the camera hole? Thanks.
the original diamond screen protector doesnt have any hole, so go to an official htc service in your country and there you will be able to buy one without hole

The problem is that it is hard to tell which one is the OEM one. I have the unlocked version (without the front camera). HTC does not even list it in their web site.

I went with the Zagg Skins for my HTC Pure. It does not have the front camera and the Skins are first-rate. I've used them for the past few years and put them on most everything now

This is for Verizon Touch diamond. I compared the specification with the GSM version of diamond. They are not the same.
Hi.
My Dealer offers me nearly everything I want.
I use screen protector from Exim. I'm from Germany, so I buy it at nexave.
You may write them an eMail and ask if they could send you a Diamond screen protector without the hole.

Hi,
As the Diamond is smooth and stylish, I don't really want to hide it in any horrible case or hard-protection (*)...
However, I want to put it on my pocket and protect it from scratches with my keys and a lot of others stuffs
So,
what's the offer ?
what's your choice ?
what's your advice ?
Currently avalaible :
Zagg Invisible Shield (full body coverage)
Clear-Coat Scratch Protection (full body)
BodyGuardZ Scratch-Proof Transparent Protection (full body)
Other ?
Home made ? (let us know how you do it yourself...)
(let me know if I forgot one...)
(*) Perhaps except if Vaja listen to us, I hope they'll have some nice projects for the Diamond, as their ivolution for the i*****
just use the screen protector from the box.
invisbile shield is ****
just use the box protector screen, too
Neither of these are really "invisible". For the back & sides they will do maybe, for the front use good screen protector.
I bought the invisibleShield Full Body, but not received!

Took 3 weeks for mee too, eventually I did receive it. I emailed them to ask why it took so long and just to be sure, they sent me a 2nd one for free.
I had it on for 1,5 days, took it off completely and replaced it with the boxed screenprotector. Way better, read my previous posts on this on the inivisibleSHIELD topc.
Anyone know where the original HTC screen protector can be purchased? Friend of mine didnt get one in the box and mine was applied a bit badly Can they be removed and washed?
The Ideal soloution:
Ideally you should use a combination, you should get the invisible shield for is back protection and apply it on the faceted back to protect that from scratches. BUT don't use the invisible-shield on the front/screen, as it bonds too strongly with the screen and also its optical properties are not that great, as a result the screen images are not displayed to their best due to distortion form the shield, so for the front i recommend using the Martin Fields screen and button protector. Martin fields protectors are the very best for screen protection while maintaining screen clarity (a well documented point)

i have already written about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=401745
but in short, the MF protector is a fraction clearer and possibly a bit better in sunlight too, it also covers the front facing camera (a good thing in my book) only bad side is that initially it does feel fractionally more grippy when sliding your finger across the screen (only slightly more, unlike the invisibleSHIELD which is like rubber lol) but this goes away after some usage. You also get a protector for the buttons below the screen. - and i have noticed that it does not pick up scratches easily, unlike the in-box protector which does.
Ive tried different screenprotectors now but none of them are realy good. even though they say they are scratchfree, they arent, especially the htc boxed one, only after two days it was so scratched up from the stylus that i had to replace it with an aftermarket one. that one lastet like two weeks, again totally scratched from the stylus. i then thought it was the stylus ,so i used the other one in the box after i put on another new screenprotector on! this time from brando,i got it along with the crystalcase i bought. also this one isnt scrathfree as they say on the package and now after a week of use i have scratches again, most of them light some others deep. so whats the problem, the stylus or the screenprotectors?
Your stylus seem to be the source of problem. You defenitely must have no scratches after just a week of use. Maybe there is something wrong with your stylus tip, like some hard incluse.
Screen protectors are not absolutely scratchproof, generally I replace mine like once in half a year. But still cheaper to replace a screen protector then screen
i didnt received it either. i ordered my invisible shield on 19/06/08 and still didnt receive one. they resended second one on 11/07.
BodyGuardZ is avalaible for Diamond
I've updated the #1 post with the link for the BodyGuardZ Scratch-Proof Transparent Protective skin (full body).
Package contents :
* 2 Complete HTC Touch Diamond BodyGuardz Protectors (covers everything including screen)
* BodyGuardz Application Solution
* Squeegee Card
* Application Instructions

funny i ordered mine last thursday and got it today 6 days later?
i live in the uk dont know if that would make a difference!?
i also opted for not applyingthe screen cover from invisible shield , i'm just using the htc standard one so far its ok with one scratch after two weeks.
must say that the invisible shield is superb! i couldnt even mark it with a sharp sheath knife. no i didnt test it like that while on my diamond! just some of the spare the protector is punched from!
One other thing that is really nice.....IT HIDES FINGER PRINTS!!!!!!!
The HTC one was good, but a real pain to wash (tried to clean after bad applying, and had to throw it away )
Just got some Brando Ultra Clear, and I'm pleased : really easy to apply, front and back protection.
Didn't notice any scratch til now. On ly - slight - problem, is that they get qui dirty quickly (fingerprints)
EXiM SPUC always!

I totally agree with you. I've the invisible shield after two weeks just the same day that my diamond arived. it took me a full hour to apply it. getting really annoying but there is enough liquid spray to do it two times. There's a piece of rubber included to get all of the air out that works great. it took 2 weeks for the back of the phone to lose the rubber feeling and (after 4 weeks) there is still it on the front. overall the shield is great. With this thing your phone is really scratchless. The micro air bubbels disappear in a week on the back. If you aply it good there are no bubbels on the front
Hi Guys
as per silkworms post I have seen this screeen available but i fears it going to be the same crappy plastic affair thats easily scratched that the phone is shipped with.
Does anyone know where I can get a tempered glass/hard as nails replacement please? It would be ideal if they can fit it as well. Or maybe you have experience with the screen linked above, is it any good?

hmmm, a hard screen would prohibit you from applying pressure to the digitiser yes!
so that no touch screen can work for you.
Iphone has tempered glass but uses capacative screen, so need need for pressure to be applied through the glass i think.
But the diamond is resistive screen and required physically to push on the digitiser (screen under the top screen) to detect input
aww crap..... problem is this screen is soooo soft, its getting scratched so easily and I didn't want another layer of plastic protector on the top.
This to me is the one major problem with this phone that I cannot seem to find a suitable answer for.
Thanks for your reply and what you say makes sense....
maybe a screen protector?
is not as good and makes the phone not look as nice but stops scratches ok.
or maybe sell your house and car so you have no keys in your pockets
I make sure I don't have keys or money in the same pocket. I think this gets scratched when I put it on my desk - which it should be able to handle!
Diamond screen
just keep mine in the leather pouch it came with never had a problem.

you put your diamond.....face down......on a desk.....! your nuts!
why? Its not bothered any other phone I've had ..... then again, I've never had such a soft, easily pushed in screen before either.
And yes I do, that's what the "turn it over to silence it" functions for.
I also was hesitant to put a screen protector on it. But I eventually did it (the one that came with the Diamond) - if you put it on neatly, it is virtually invisible, the screen is shiny, and I do not find any difference in sensitivity. Try it, if you do not like it you can always remove it. I am fine with this solution, and feel much easier about the danger of scratches. it not only protects the screen from scratches, but also from the danger of braking it by being hit, because the impact of an accidental hit on the screen gets physically distributed over a wider surface by the protector. Before applying it, I cleaned the screen with Displex display polish, so it would stick very evenly over the surface and the edges - which it did. I can only recommend it (before the first scratch appears....)
the screen of the diamond is supposed to be tempered glass!!
and on my diamond i can press the screen, but it does not feel soft at all.

No it's not. Underneath the top layer (which is the soft plastic that can scratch) it is tempered glass. HTC made this decision to protect the diamond screen from cracking. When pressure is applied to the casing that would otherwise cause the diamond to break in a bad way.
Without a capacitive screen (such as the iphone) you could not have glass as the top layer or else it could not recognise the stylus or your fingers.
It's better this way, as it means you have the option of a stylus. The iphone could never use a stylus for this reason.
my display has scratches, somebody has an idea? Or can i buy a new housing with a display?

Sir_Terry,
It is too late now, you should have bought a Screen Protector as everyone does and you would have saved the trouble!!!
OMG how helpful are you!
Sir_Terry, if you're up to fitting it you can buy a new touch screen: http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/17042.htm
I'm no expert, but I believe this would be, or include the top layer that you've managed to scratch.
Search google on how to repair a scratched CD with a fresh banana. Unless your screen is scratched bad enough to be felt. I'd recommend a screen protector right after you fix it. Good luck and report back!
i have the same problem.. took me a while to understand how did it get scratched..
it was the original stylus i got with the phone
considering to get this from brando: ($44 and free shipment)
http://mobile.brando.com.hk/prod_detail.php?prod_id=03449
anyone tried that?
i'm sure i've written this before...
Get some acrylic polish and a soft cloth, the polish works like t-cut (and most polishes), it may take some time, but u can get scratches out with that.
used it on one of my old HTC phones.
Also works on the backs of Diamonds
Thank you guys, but there is no cover, such as Nokia earlier in 3210 or so?
no, it has a digitiser (on top, the bit you press) which you can usually get seperatly, i got one for £7 on eBay for a HTC Artemis. and then under this is the LCD.
I presume this is the setup, as it is the way every other HTC device is.
I own and unlocked quad band touch diamond GSM version. The LCD Lens on the front seems to be quite hard to come by and I have only found one international seller on ebay that has them.
My lens is scratched so I plan to use one of these lenses (ordered 2) and buy a second LCD screen so I can preassamble the two before opening up my phone, as I don't like the idea of tearing the digitizer from the LCD screen!
Does anyone know why these lenses without the front camera hole for the GSM unlocked version, are so hard to come by? And if you know of a US seller that has them, I would greatly appreciate that info, thanks.
Am I the only person with an unlocked diamond quad-band phone with one camera lense?

I have the Captivate for almost 2 months, but I think this issue is valid for all Galaxy S phones.
Some weeks ago it appeared a stain/smudge on the middle of the screen that can be easily seen with a light color background. Also, I noticed that its seen even with the phone turned off. See both photos attached.
I use invisibleSHIELD. Since the stain is noticed even with the screen turned off, I'm wondering if it may come from the protector instead of the screen itself.
It would be easy if I removed the protector, but if I do so, I'll loose it.
Has somebody had that problem?
May it come from the screen protector?
Thanks
I would imagine that it's the screen protector and the actual phone screen. Just take the screen protector off.
I don't have this problem but you can remove the screen protector and reapply it easily. Just use tape to lift it off the glass and rinse in a bowl of warm water with a drop of dish soap to clean and reapply. I've done this to my screen protector 5 or 6 times for various reasons.
yes my friend this is caused by the screen protector. mine had the same issue. apperantly its from using the squeegy tooo hard!
Could be your LCD Has a burned in Image
If you remove your screen protector and still notice the screen smudge try tilting the phone slightly to get a good angle and try o see if the smudge is internal, if it is I would say its a bleeding LCD, I had this issue with a HTC tilt at&t sent me and they sent me a brand new one free of charge.

It should be covered under warranty still. Their site offers a 1 year warranty so you should be able to take it back to the seller and get a new one installed free
Its the case from at&t, its like a silicon plastic thing. Lol. I got it too.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
I have this same issue with my HTC Magic, that has a screen protector on it. There is a similar mark, smudge on my screen, as a result of a particularly large raindrop hitting my phone. Based on this thread, I can breath a sigh of relief that it didn't damage the screen!

The tilt is a whole different beast... the Samsung is a capacitive touch screen while the tilts were pressure touch...
