Getting programs on the today screen

I'm trying to get a program I installed to have a short-cut on the today screen. However, its not showing in the list under Start > Settings > Personal tab > Today
Is there any other way of getting a shortcut on the today screen, or getting a program to appear in the list of programs that can be selected from the settings menu?
Cheers!
James
Hi, you could manually create a shortcut of the program, and put it in the start menu, located under device/windows/start menu. You need a file manager to do this.
Bye.
Normaly you won't be able to make shortcuts on the today screen whith the method you want...
Some 3rd party apps whith Today plugins allow to add shortcuts to the plugin... Such a today plugin is shipped whith your PDA (if you have an original TC, not the O2 version...), the plugin is the HTC Home plugin which has a shortcuts tab. It allows for 9 shortcuts to be set.
If you find the HTC Home too bulky, there are always alternatives, like SPB Pocket Plus 4, Resco Toolbar (comes whith Resco Explorer), and so on...
Ahh... sorry, I misunderstood. I was thinking to the start menu.
Installed programs should appear in the startmenu automaticaly... atleast into the programs folder... If you want to add programs to the dropdown menu, then go to Settings -> Menu...

installing homescreen plusplus on XDA2_Haseeb's WM6.5

Hi,
Sorry if there is a simple straight forward answer to this question but im still a bit of a noob! I have the rom - XDA2_Haseeb's WM6.5 (CHome+LockScreen - 21215) and i am trying to install homescreen plusplus on it, however when i do so all i get is a folder in programs with a Task List TaskManager icon in. When i try to run it nothing happens?
I have tried downloading the Basic edition the advanced and the UI version with the same thing happening.
Does this program work with this ROM?
Many thanks in advanced!
Dave
You have to go to Start -> Settings -> Today -> Items
Uncheck "Windows Default" and check the Homescreen one at the bottom.
However, doing this disables the new CHome today screen. As far as I know, that's the only way to do it.
You can also try chi-tai's Second today so you can switch between CHome & your standard today screen with HomeScreen++.-
excuse me for using this thread but can someone help me with a link to homescreen ++ ?
i've been searching for it.don't know if there's a thread about stuff like that in the forum, sry if there is ... i'm new here.
You can visit the official page or download the cab from the attachment .-

How to point to a folder instead of program in Start menu?

HI
When one clicks the Start Menu/button in TF3D, a page with programs will open up instead of the WM start menu drop down.
My question is how does one assign one of the buttons to point to open a folder (eg Games Folder) instead of a program?
Thanks for reading and your help
This might help:

Thanks
Exactly what I was looking for. All is done manually but it didn't take so much time.
Thanks for your help.....
Will try it out....
Another thing - anyway to turn off the TF3D start menu and reactivate the standard WM dropdown start menu?
Thanks
I am not sure to understand exactly what you want.
If you want to unload tf3d please go in setup => personal => today => then in element unselect TouchFlo3D.
My Rom is in french so I am not sure about the translation. I attached some screenshot : it will be easier
he does not want to disable touchflo3d, when he goes to the touchflo3d startmenu he wants to assign one of the buttons there to open a map(out of the box you can only open programs in the start menu of touchflo3d))

It's easy
- Open your registry editor;
- HKLM - Software - HTC - EnlargeMenu - EnableManilaStartMenu (Change "1" to "0")
- Soft reset...
That's it No need to install any .cab or smthing...
Yes, it will be great if we can have both where Start menu still can be active w/ drop menu and the Windows key button still can be a short cut to program short cut menu.
Anyway to get both of this together since the Diamond2 tf3d menu does not have Program SHORT CUT menu but using the windows start function.
Is there any way to keep the WIndows button as the Program shortcut key & the WIndows Start menu as Drop-down menu.
If I change the value from 1 to 0, the program shortcut function under window button does not work anymore/
Pls help

Closing program help~

Hi, anyone know how i can set my Topaz so that when I press x on the top right corner it closes the program and not just hide it in the background?
I was able to do this in settings somewhere with the previous official 2.1 rom, but I just changed to the new 2.53.709.3 official rom and I can no longer find the settings to do this.
Can anyone help me out?

Should be in Task manager (V3.1) settings. Menu\Options\Tabs and Buttons\Switch Minimize and Exit buttons.
The newer 6.5.3 builds have taken the task manager from the taskbar so I use QuickMenu which puts this functionality back
Or use this Task manager Cab.....Thanks to Aman, our Chef, missing in action right now.
thx that really helped a lot =) now my topaz can run smoothly without programs lagging it all the time~

If you are missing the settings UI (if you click on StartMenu\Settings and it brings you to the Manila settings tab), install this cab.
none of these apps appear to work, i have installed both, can find how to open the show settings app and the taskman 2.1 installes and loks great but it doesnt close the apps when i click x. i have set it up to do this also.
help!! pfone is running like a dog with 2 legs with all the apps open all the time.
First, the Showsettings app is a registry tweak that will enable your settings menu from the start menu instead of taking you to the settings tab in Manila.
Do not open it, install it from your device, its a a cab file.
Secondly, if you're on a 6.5.3 ROM where the start menu button is on the bottom bar, the taskmanager is disabled.
An alternativre solution as I previously mentioned would be to use QuickMenu which has a built in taskmamager and is accessible from the left side of the top bar.

An QuickMenu alternative
An QuickMenu alternative is FDCsoft StartMenu
Pressing on the Start iCON gives a small menu / pressing right off the Start iCON gives the larger menu .

I will try and report
Howdy again,
To goto your 'settings/programs menu' with one click, browse to this link;
Create shortcuts to Feature Settings and Applications manually
and arrow-down a bit. Here you'll find what you're looking for (one click access), though this only works for english ROMs As Far As I Know..
Hope this helps for you too,
Senax
