HI
When one clicks the Start Menu/button in TF3D, a page with programs will open up instead of the WM start menu drop down.
My question is how does one assign one of the buttons to point to open a folder (eg Games Folder) instead of a program?
Thanks for reading and your help

Exactly what I was looking for. All is done manually but it didn't take so much time.
Thanks for your help.....
Will try it out....
Another thing - anyway to turn off the TF3D start menu and reactivate the standard WM dropdown start menu?
Thanks
I am not sure to understand exactly what you want.
If you want to unload tf3d please go in setup => personal => today => then in element unselect TouchFlo3D.
My Rom is in french so I am not sure about the translation. I attached some screenshot : it will be easier
he does not want to disable touchflo3d, when he goes to the touchflo3d startmenu he wants to assign one of the buttons there to open a map(out of the box you can only open programs in the start menu of touchflo3d))

It's easy
- Open your registry editor;
- HKLM - Software - HTC - EnlargeMenu - EnableManilaStartMenu (Change "1" to "0")
- Soft reset...
That's it No need to install any .cab or smthing...
Yes, it will be great if we can have both where Start menu still can be active w/ drop menu and the Windows key button still can be a short cut to program short cut menu.
Anyway to get both of this together since the Diamond2 tf3d menu does not have Program SHORT CUT menu but using the windows start function.
Is there any way to keep the WIndows button as the Program shortcut key & the WIndows Start menu as Drop-down menu.
If I change the value from 1 to 0, the program shortcut function under window button does not work anymore/
Pls help

Hi
I need to remap a hardware button to run a program, but I haven't been able to find a reg tweak for it.
I've found these:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\KeyMaps
But from that I can only figure out how to disable or switch the mapping around.
Does anyone know how to do a reg tweak so I can map a hardware button to launch a specific program?
Thanks
Create a lnk file (shortcut) to your desired application, with one of the following names and put it in \Windows folder.
Short_Home - Home
Long_Home - Home
Short_CAMERA - camera
Long_CAMERA - camera
Long_POC - IE button (the one from above long volume up button)
Short_POC- IE button
Aditionaly:
Short_AP1
Long_AP1
Short_AP2
Long_AP2
Short_AP3
Long_AP3
Short_AP4
Long_AP4
for the phones with the 4 extra buttons above softkeys.
eg:
If we want CoolCamera to open at a long press of Camera button:
- make a shortcut to CoolCamera.exe (with Resco Explorer for example)
- rename the shortcut to Long_CAMERA.lnk
- copy the shortcut to \Windows with overwriting.
Aditionaly you can map Long_VolDown & Long_VolUp.
Edit: more info about HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\KeyMaps:

Thanks, but that doesn't work on the C500.
I don't have any shortcuts called anything like that in my windows folder. I tried creating one to test it out, and it was a no go
Any other ideas?
Not exactly what you are after, but you do know that you can assign programs in your start menu to speed dial right? Sorry if you already knew that. Another option is AEButton or whatever its called, but its pay software.

What OS do you have? WM5.0?
PS: that works fine on my HTC Tornado with WM5.0 and WM6.0
try this:
the instructions remain, just the shortcuts filename will change as follow:
CaLP & CaSP - camera
HomeLP - home
LP is coming from long press
SP is coming from short press
Friends,
I am almost done with my customization with Manila. Been using the hack apps out there for Diamond Concfig, Tweek etc..
One thing that I am not sure how to change is the home tab "contacts" to icontacts? I did this successfully with ssmapa.exe but it won't change in the home screen.
Please advise what registry edit is needed.
Thank You,
Tvos
nevermind, found it... for those intereted!
HKLM >>> software >>>> HTC >>> Manila
the left softkey path is : HomeLSKPath
and the name will be : HomeSLKText
the right softkey path is : HomeRSKPath
the text to appear will be : HomeRSKText
example the link to contacts is : windows\addrbook.lnk
and u can put this in HomeLSKPath and name test as CONTACTS
tvos
..or you can use Advanced Config (Key Mappings) ..or Diamond Tweak...both have option to change TF3D Soft keys
you didn't read what i posted earlier... icontact was not a option using the schaps or diamond tweek. i had to use the registry editor to change the file location to load..
tvos
Advanced Config has a search box for app not select box ..so you can put there whatever you want...I did it that way...
look at Menu > More Settings > Key Mapping in Advanced Config
question related to this.
how do i get it so that the people page's "all contact's" also goes to icontact.
i tried ssmapa but since the rom im using is a hd manilla port, ssmapa doesnt work proplery. know any work arounds?
edit~~nevermind figured it out.
to anybody else trying to get this to work:
make sure tf3d is disabled (go to settings->today and uncheck the box)
start up ssmapa and hit initiate
go to the poutlook.exe and change the new program to "\Program Files\iContact\iContact.exe"
arguments "$"
Working Dir to "\Program Files\iContact"
then check on the box 'patch enabled' hit save
then go to deply and hit deply patch.
turn tf3d back on and you're good to go =D
Here's the topic where u can download the app:

anyway since i'm using WM 6.5, the old nice start menu has been replaced, and i missed having 8 shortcuts simply by pressing start menu. So, a good solution is to use QuickMenu, it lets u use the old WM 6.1 start menu as well as letting u use the WM 6.5 start menu (which is basically just opening the Programs folder, kinda pointless IMO).
So anyway i'm happy with QuickMenu but have trouble finding how to add shortcuts to the list, i fiddled with all the options but can't figure it out. Anyone plz guide me?
It's just like any start menu. Copy shortcuts to \windows\start menu\programs\xxxxx. Total commander is the best tool for the job. Not sure what you mean about the 6.5 start menu only opening up programs. I thought that was what it was supposed to do, lol.

No, what i said was that the WM 6.5 start menu only opens up the Programs folder, instead of showing the drop down start menu with the 7 or 8 program shortcuts where u can launch them straight away.
I.E, the WM 6.1 start menu is just like the start menu on your computer. On WM 6.5, it just opens up the programs folder, there are no drop down menus when you click start.
Anyway i already have shortcuts in the path \windows\start menu\programs, but you have to assign them to QuickMenu, u have to add them to the shortcut list.
This is the same for the start menu on your WM 6.1, you have to go to Settings --> Menu Launch list (something like that) and tick the shortcuts you want to show.
When you select shortcuts for the 6.1 menu in the 'menus' applet, it just moves the shortcuts to \Windows\Start Menu from the Programs sub-folders. The 6.5 start menu shows more than just the program directory; it also shows the Settings directory. I'm pretty sure that it will show any shortcut placed directly in \Windows\Start Menu; I've put things there by accident and they've shown up in the 6.5 start menu. You'll have to do it manually with total commander or something similar. If you get the shortcuts there, they should show both in quick menu and in the 6.5 start menu. You should only be able to put 7 shortcuts there, though.
thx i got it working, ur rite, i just have to copy shortcuts from:
\windows\start menu\programs
to
\windows\start menu
edit:
OK nope it's still not working. For some reason, after 2 or 3 mins, the shortcuts I put in the \windows\start menu folder always get moved to the \windows\start menu\programs folder instead. The shortcuts aren't deleted, they're just moved automatically. I noticed this problem occurs on the WM 6.1 as well.
I've only added 7 shortcuts to the list so it should be fine, i can see the shortcuts on Quick Menu but they just get moved afterwards.....
bump
Same question.
How to make Quickmenu 2.8 work with WM6.5
I miss my shortcuts, the honeycomb sucks.
Just flash dynasty rom; I'm pretty sure that it runs quick menu.
Shortcuts in Quickmenu
Bump!
Has anybody found a solution to this?
Hi all.
How can I achieve this? I want my Topaz with WM 6.5 have the same behavior with start as it was with 6.1.
only way i know of doing that is by installing quick menu. http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-quickmenu-v2-7.html
Well the start menu was redesigned.
Manila has it's own special start menu that is opened by tapping in the top left corner (where the Start button was). It is very similar to QuickMenu.
The good thing about the stock start menu is it is highly customizable. If you search the threads you can find start menus that contain 2 rows... and even 1 row (list) similar to Quick Menu... but without any third party apps.
I wouldn't be too quick to avoid the WM6.5 start menu because it is something you'll have to eventually get used to. I would recommend you get familiar with it and start looking up some of the tweaks to get it to where you want.
I am not finding this manilla start menu. Just the regular windows mobile start menu.
I am using htc sense. When i click the left i get the regular start menu.

An QuickMenu alternative
An QuickMenu alternative is FDCsoft StartMenu
Pressing on the Start iCON gives a small menu / pressing right off the Start iCON gives the larger menu .

Howdy again,
To goto your 'settings/programs menu' with one click, browse to this link;
Create shortcuts to Feature Settings and Applications manually
and arrow-down a bit. Here you'll find what you're looking for (one click access), though this only works for english ROMs As Far As I Know..
Hope this helps for you too,
Senax
