Hey everyone, I'm new here , and I thought I'd start with a quick question.
My HTC Universal is a bit handicapped (bought it off a friend who said it was broken, apparently the USB plug terminals weren't fully soldered, but I couldn't connect all of them and it will only charge through USB and nothing else.)
If someone has an HTC schematic or a high-res image of the motherboard, I could possibly try to revive USB transfer capabilities (but that area is a bit damaged from not having a small enough soldering iron ), *OR*, if there is a way to reflash from within the OS using a SD card, that would be great.
Hope someone knows the answer to this, thanks!
Edit: And if it's of any possibility, how much would a replacement board be? Enough to satisfy a 100% working USB connection?
No ideas? If someone can at least give me a schematic or a high-res pictures of both sides of the board then I could possibly fix the USB to 100% functionality.
If you check the WIKI for the Universal you shoul be able to find a link for downloading the Service Manual. It shows the total un-assembly-re-assembly process step by step. You may also find instructions for SD flashing there as well. I have never flashed my Uni by SD, but I have don other phones like that. Most of the HTC's are capable. There is even info in the Service manual telling you what to have on the SD and wht to name the files from proper use. Give it a search.
Thanks! I have the manual already so I'll give it a look over. I wasn't entirely sure and I thought I wouldn't see anything but I'll look more in-depth .
Just a side note, does anyone know where I can get a replacement motherboard and how much it will be? Just curious, as that option might be available if it isn't too expensive.

1) why not post in the original topic
2) You don't need RTCK see image on the right The lower right of the 6 pins is RTCK you see the copper since nothing is attached.
Any other questions please use the original thread as we are all subscribed to that one.
please help me
i solder all pins without RTCK
problem shown in the picture
tnx
Hi toyoki,
i am not familiar with JTAG Manager for RIFF Box... but i guess it is easy to solve.
Check the setting that i marked in the pic. There must be some other options.
You should use a fixed value for TCK.
Without RTCK attached you should also slow down the clock.
Please use the forum thread ezterry pointed at, to discuss further questions.
You might also ask the guys building RIFF Box for help.
Give 'em some nice greets from XDA-developers!
Cheers,
scholbert
I got a photon q lte and the battery died.
There isn't much info online how to troubleshoot an issue for this.
I bought it from a friend about 9 months ago and I don't use sprint phone as my provider.
I don't want to buy a new phone, I am willing however to purchase a new battery, or other basic hardware to resolve the issue.
Any advice xda folks? Hope it's some informative responses. I'm not knew to the site but I never usually need to post for this kind of mysterious issue.
Thanks

Hi folks,
My nexus 5 died in a watery hellfire of childrens and sugar. I would like to salvage some of the info that was on the "SD card" but didn't know if anyone had a guide - I tried searching the forum "remove sd card" but no dice. Any thoughts or guides that i'm missing?
Thanks!
You won't be able to 'remove' the memory, it is not a classical sd card as the ones you can buy, it is a chip welded on the circuit board...
It will be hard to access the data directly (not through the phone), but your best luck is to disassemble your phone, locate the memory chip, find the pins pattern, and find a way to connect all that to a computer...
Wish you luck
PS : Maybe there are ways i'm not aware of, but I your phone is really dead, I don't know any other
Edit : This doesn't seems to be an easy at all manipulation, you'll need the help of a professionnal I'm afraid

Almost impossible actually - the emmc is very solidly glued to the mainboard. And to top it off it's a BGA package. I don't know many who would dive into it .
Best best would be to open it up , soak it in IPA , wash with demineralized water , dry , remove all non-vital parts ( camera , microphones , nfc and so on ) and try to boot it up.

I bet with a lot of money and skills it can be done, far beyond the value of the data on the chip
For sure ! I've asked a friend (electronic design engineer) for a quote and ... he says the lowest he's seen for this type of data recovery is 150$ an hour , with a minimum of 6 hours and no guarantees.
