[Q] XDAFacebook 4.5.1 --> Places problem

Hey guys,
I have the problem, that Facebook-Places is not working. Maybe someone can help me to solve it:
I loaded the XDAFacebook 4.5 and updatet it to 4.5.1, because it's said that it's the only app which works with Facebook-Places. And it's a quite nice App for Facebook.
Like Deu5Vult wrote I installed the Bing-App again, and reinstalled XDAFacebook. (I have to say that I like the Bing-App very much, cause it's much faster than GoogleMaps - it locates me, an eg finds Cafes nearby).
But when I now go back to XDAFacebook --> Places --> Checkin it tries to locate my GPS data for about 5 seconds and then the windows is still empty.
I'm using the HTC HD2 with Windows Mobile 6.5 professional (5.2.21913), ROM 3.14.407.2 GER.
Has anybody some suggestions what I could do, to get Facebook-Places working?
i think the application is not yet ready, but new version is comming soon, and hopefully it will bring places search
I found another working soloution: using touch.facebook.com with the Dorothy Browser. The only thing you have to do every time before you can post your location is to start the QuickGPS. In addition the Display of my HD2 bfroke and I'm gonna buy the Desire HD or one of the new Motorola Smartphones. So no problems anymore

GPS Gingerbread

I have been missing alot of sleep lately so I probably am just missing something here. I just installed the newest gingerbread for my g-tab. I also have next to the newest version of gb on my phone (optimus v).
I just finished flashing the gb to my g-tab and i go into google maps and it pinpoints my location exactly. I don't know how it would have done that.
I was wondering if like the mysterious new syncing to google music in gingerbread is it syncing my gps location from my optimus v also, and after I logged into my google account on my g-tab it had my location.
My best guess is that you are connecting to a wifi network. what is happening is google basically knows where your ip address is. like.... EXACTLY.
freaky eh?

[Q] GPA17 and Maps

Hi there,
I am new to the Android world and just got a Nexus S (i9023), and am playing with it quite a lot.
I have been using GPA17 ROM and kernel since this morning, and I am mostly satisfied with it, though I do have one question :
I was using stock ROM before, and could store in cache some parts of the map in Maps, just by selecting that option in the location. But after having changed to GPA17, I just do not have access to it, though I have Maps v5.9.0...
Does anyone know why, and/or how I could fix this? (or maybe, it caches map automatically when loading it?)
I cannot post in the Dev section yet, but I do have to wait at unlocking right after I switch my Nexus S on, the desktop takes time to appear (so do the drawer...).

[Q] Wrong time when I use network provided value

Past week has been my victorious journey of learning how to root and flash different mods. I come to settle with CM7 and Faux Kernel on my G2x. And today I just fixed the no data issue by playing with APN settings.
Here's the last part to make my phone flawless. My service provider is Simple Mobile. Before root/flash, on stock rom main screen would say Simple Mobile to indicate that I am, indeed, on Simple network. But what I realize is that now it says T-Mobile and my time is messed up..it's one hour faster than it is. I can simply change it under the settings, but I use KakaoTalk to talk to my people in Korea. On that app, chat history time will show up as messed up (one hour faster). Any solutions/thoughts will be greatly appreciated.
Sounds like something in the build.prop file has it configured to T-Mobile. Maybe you can peek inside and see.
Here me out, I don't suggest touching anything in there unless you know what you're doing. Mess something up, and you'll be getting bootloops or losing major functions.
Why use network time values? Doesn't your custom rom have the option to sync the phone to NTP time servers like the Stock rom does? If you use the NTP sync option your phone will keep itself set to NIST Atomic accurate time using the world's moat advanced cesium clock technology. If your app does not have this option in the time settings, there are several NTP sync apps in the Market but all require root. One of the nice things LG did was make this option available to non rooted devices also by cooking it into their stock rom.
If you need a value to enter for the time server here are a few for the entire world.
Worldwide: pool.ntp.org
Asia: asia.pool.ntp.org
Europe: europe.pool.ntp.org
North America: north-america.pool.ntp.org
Oceania: oceania.pool.ntp.org
South America: south-america.pool.ntp.org
Why not just go into settng and change your Time Zone by one hour. That should set everything right.

Hey thanks again for your help. I didn't mean to take your credit on ATP settings solution. Flashing your zip was the way to go.
I used ClockSync to fix my system time and it worked. You're awesome

Awesome. I didn't realize this was cooked into the phone. Wish I'd realized it before my phone woke me up an hour early today due to time change... lol
All hail the mighty search feature!

[Q] Slow GPS fix

Hello ,
I have a problem with my optimus 3d p920 .
It seems to get a very slow GPS fix .
I been searching alot but not realy found a fix .
Can someone point me in the right direction ?
i am on XPlay3D v2.0 rom with baseband l6260_modem_sic_01.1042.00 accoring to system info of phone
.
Im having the same issue
I think it depends on the ROM settings and maybe even the build.prop file in /system/
I am using Prometheus ROM v1.4 with stock+ kernal and my GPS locks VERY quickly. I usually leave GPS enabled anyways which probably helps once its locked the first time.
I have been on other roms that takes FOREVER to lock onto GPS as well and if I recall correctly, I think some of Meemos roms had that problemf or me too.
Sorry I can't be much more help than that. My suggestion: try other roms and see how they do.

What I use and I must say with success is a little apk called GPSFix.I start gps module from drawer, then start the gps fix, wait for about three secs till morr sattelites are shown then start my navigation program. Doing so in about 20 secs maximum, usually I get a 12 secs, I do get a fix.Anyway for me it works.

Where do you get that ?
Check your NTP setting in:
system/etc/gps.conf
In the line:
NTP_SERVER=(you must set your closest location)
And change SUPL_PORT= to 7275
Search for your closest NTP server in www.pool.ntp.org
I found out that the GPS fix speed is ROM and/or settings dependent. For example, all the Froyo stock roms were much faster to get a GPS fix (10-20sec) comparing with the Gingerbread stock roms (45-90sec). The same applies to custom roms as well.
I would not recommend getting the GpsFix as suggested because it comes with tones of spam as you can see on the comments. Instead you could use the much more popular and with many additional features GPS Status & Toolbox.
Also if you don't want to change your NTP settings manually as suggested above, you could do it with an app called FasterFix.
I have to say though that even if the above apps could help decrease a few seconds from your GPS fix time, the most important for that is the ROM that you are using. I think it's unacceptable for LG to break the GPS fix on GB roms (together with other things) while it was working perfectly fast on Froyo.
I just made a comparison of O3D with the 6 times cheaper ZTE Blade with the app GPS Status. For O3D it took 75sec to fix and it fixed on 5/7 satellites. ZTE Blade made a fix in 11sec on 12/13 satellites!
Hello ,
Flashed XBSA V21E P920 and it seems much better , bt im gonna test more .
Thx for the help .

You might be right even if the spam that I get is not generated by GPSFix. But even so we're talking about offline navigation, so there won't be any data connection so no spam.Even so you can use some ad blocker program, starting from rom toolbox lite, just to name one.
