I have had my N1 since release and been installing themes for a bit. I do realize they updated to a newer version (.xml) theme control. Unfortunately I did not backup my previous metamorph when someone did a wipe on my phone....
Since I'm an idiot first thing I did was download and install the newer version of metamorph currently v1.9.8 I believe....
Realizing none of my previous themes didn't work after downloading them again... I decide let me go and download some new ones from the metamorph thread.. My assumption that the first post had the information about the new theme control, I go to town on the downloading...
Of course, they are not updated.... Anybody else running into this?
I even tried searching for the old version online but nothing yet....
Basically only wanted a black status bar and kspec battery icon... But no luck still....
You'll have to wait until the devs notice the update, and/or add .xml support. I updated mine earlier, only because I saw the all the links in the main metamorph thread. It didn't even hit me when I saw the update in the market.
Either that, or you can create an .xml yourself and be ahead of the game. It's not really that hard. There's even a .thm to .xml converter if you're on Windows.
awesome. I think ill look it up. what theme did you create?
Sent from my Nexus One using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk

There is a detailed post on how to make the .xml file.
theme creator should update in a perfect world when are aware of the change...
I am not asking for alot.... Anyway, I could not find a reliable source for a converter and I think it is a step beyond my skillz to go and manually change the theme control files on my own...
Can someone give the name of a .thm to .xml converter? I will def be willing to pay for the app, but I could not even find a trial to know whether it works well or not....
Please please pleas.... I need to add my themes... I'm an addict..
I've started a thread right here in ths forum with a download Link to this toll.
Could you use the search?
When you find a morph thats not updated yet do one of the following
1) fix it yourself with the auto-xml generate tool. Make sure you PM/bump the thread
2) Bump the thread.
3)PM the author.
Developers have a LOT of morphs and its hard to keep track of them or search and update them all.

ahhh. Funny thing is I came across your thread but overlooked that download portion.. I had watched that tutorial on manually creating the file but I'm newbie at this Android dev stuff... Thanks for re-posting the link here guys...
YAY!!.... that converter worked wonders... only 2 themes did not work.. but hey, I got the main one... YES YES YES!!..
Thanks guys...
Yes, the converter is really cool! Great work!
I've been searching all day, and I can't get a working copy of the Froyo HTC_IME APK.
Does anyone have it, or have the ability to rip it? I really wish I didn't have to request it here but I've exhausted all my attempts here to find it.
Help would be really appreciated. I'm currently running Damage Control 3.5 which didn't get official Froyo Sense keyboard. The mod does not have arrows, which is necessary for EVO users.
-EDIT: If anyone knows how to rip it from a ROM, that information can help as well, as long as it's not too difficult. I can have a friend attempt to do that.
Here you go.
Y'all check this out!

I dunno how many of you use HTC_IME_hiRes version but this is a pretty sweet kitchen that themes it up in almost any way you want!
Awesome! Thanks major to the creator, gIMpSTa. And thanks to jonasl for the mod.
Yea the kitchen is convenient. Only thing is the XDA HTC_IME mod doesn't have multitouch or arrows like the official HTC one which is what he wants.

Thanks. For some reason, however, it says "Application Not Installed". Any reasons as to why this is happening?
Again, I'm running DamageControl 3.5.
I did, while waiting for a reply, find a backup made by Titanium that includes the keyboard as system data. I could not run a restore for it though. It feels like I just will never get that keyboard back unless I flash a new ROM.
So, out of the options below, what's my best move?
1. Troubleshoot the installation error.
2. Troubleshoot Titanium
3. Flash a different ROM
This might seem like too much for a single keyboard, but you don't know how much I miss those arrows...

I wish I had my comp, and I'd just post the apk.
Anyways dude, the froyo keyboard is nice, so I could see why you want it. I've tried swype, and just plain deleted that gimpsta crap after like an hour (its nice for people who can't theme, but just ugly compared to a themes froyo).
To rip the apk, just download a stock Rom, open the zip, and it should be in system/app/. From there, u have to adb push it to the system/app/ folder of your own.phone.
Another alternative would be downloading a stock Rom n deleting literally everything in the zip minus the HTC_IME and flashing it.

Lol, look at my keyboard on my theme. You can mod the jell outta the stock, it just takes effort, looks sexy and you still have the features that the generic Gimp keyboard is missing.

I "hate on you" bc you don't answer questions, and instead post links to irrelevant ****. A link to gimpstas site isn't an answer to someone wanting the stock froyo keyboard.

Normally I wouldn't bump so soon but this is the only keyboard I use and I could really use some help. Thanks

Hey! I'm not really sure whats up with that. I am downloading DC right now to see whats inside. I made a new flashable. Maybe it will work. Before you flash it i would remove any extra keyboards you may have installed. Then also look in your /system/app/ folder and see if there are multiple copies of htc_ime.apk. there really should be only one. lastly, i would go to >settings>applications>manage>all>TouchInput>Clear defaults(dunno if you can do this) but maybe clear data. Then reboot recovery and flash this file. Maybe it wasnt working because it needed the clicker.apk as well.
Hope something works for ya. These files are from fresh so maybe that is why they don't work. ???
Has anyone figured out how to get this keyboard to work on cyanogen?
What exactly is the clicker?
I just ripped the APK from my Stock Froyo install for HTC_IME.apk, which should be the right keyboard. I have the clicker installed from that other HTC_IME Mod apk that's been around for a while, but that's not the multitouch version and doesn't have the arrow keys.
I'm going to see if the same hacks the guy who hacked the first one will work on this new APK. But I can't play around with it yet.
Check out APKtool to decompile the APK and look at the source for the other HTC_IME mod to kind of see what he did.
I too would like to use it in my CM install.
the clicker is what allows you to calibrate/recalibrate the touch input
Did anyone get the 2.2 keyboard running in AOSP roms yet?

OMFG ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Months... months i tell you i have been using android. hero then evo. And i just now realize you can use the volume keys as arrows thanks to you. I have learned how to theme, i have learned how to customize stock ota's into custom rom's for myself, i have learned how to compile kernels from source by dual booting into my linux build. I have learned so many things... and yet, just figured this out.... sometimes i wonder about myself and my sanity,.
on topic now, i think the touch input keyboard requires more than one apk to be installed, or an apk and a library.
Hello everyone,
I recently started working at my own custom theme which will be mainly flat black with white icons and android green highlights. I've shown it to a couple of friends and they really quite like it. I've updated every single image in the Framework-res.apk so it really is a complete revamp.
Now, I also want to edit some of the applications that I installed to match the theming (for example Handcent SMS and Winamp). I managed to pull the apk files from my phone, decompile them, edit the images and rebuilding them. But I can't seem to manage to push them back to my phone with succes because they get "uninstalled" when I push the files back to overwrite the originals (they are removed from the app drawer).
I wonder if anyone of you knows why and if it's solveable, I really like Winamp and Handcent SMS.
Cheers in advance!
Do you resign the app ?? use apk manager ??
I am not that clever to do that stuff, but it sounds like when you mod widget locker and you dont sign the apk file, if i am completely wrong sorry just trying to help

I did not resign the app, I didn't even know such thing excisted. I'm not that smart myself, I'm just a stupid designer knowing how to photoshop really well But other than that I just followed some tutorials.
If you could explain to me how to resign an app that would be of great help. Thanks!
Search for widget locker mods and in that post at the top there is a piece of kit called apk manager, follow the instructions and it will resign your apk and allow it to be used

You'll be the first one to know when the theme is finished. I'm making quick progress now. I'm gonna edit some more apps that I frequently use. Winamp is almost fully customized. I'm not quite sure how to pack everything up into an easy installer for you guys to use. But by that time I will ask for help again, I'm sure there will be loads of people who will teach me how to do that when they see the final product.

Read my guide, pay attention to the "creating a flashable package" part, basically to alter any file/folder on your phone you would simply need to place the file/folder in the appropriate folder structure within that zip, then flash. (This is all done while the package is still in the .apk format, you would need 7zip to open it and do the editing while it's still packaged, you never extract)
It'd be easiest for you to just go back to pick and pack, then flash the puzzle lock - that would get everything else back to stock that isn't themed.
I figured that would be the easiest route but Im feeling froggy and want to do it the hard way.i'm about to start digging into your guide now.

If you can find a swype that has been themed for another phone, you should be able to easily port it to the pnp version with theme porter, then add that APP to my puzzle lock theme and flash. Let me know and I'll include it in the theme.

Yea, I tried pulling the widgetlocker .apk from my phone, editing it and pushing it back and it dissappeared from my app drawer, so I'm still learning about those issues.
You guys could port that swype keyboard to pnp (using my guide) and create a package that only flashes that app to your phone... once i'ts ported it could be added to any existing theme's too.

As you know, I know nothing about themeing but when I tried to just overwrite the .apk file it gave me an error saying that the app wasn't designed for my phone (or something like that) and would have limited usability. And then came the onslaught of the FC loop. Would making this a flashable install fix that or is it because the app itself just doesn't work with our phones?

that's why we have to port them to the pnp version first, it just copies all of the .png files to our version (that already works on our phone) then you would be able to replace it through root explorer (or make a flash package) sounds like you were trying to use the .apk from the other phone? Never do that btw

LOL Yeah I learned that lesson. Thank God for nandroid backups. It actually wasn't that bad just couldn't use the Swype keyboard anymore (even after putting our .apk back on). Maybe I'll give your guide a try. It kind of intimidated me the first time I read through it but maybe just pulling a single app will be a good way to start.

Skip reading the part about framework and decompiling. App's are wayyy easier, you should be able to just use theme porter (as long as the folder names within the theme'd version matches what's in pnp's version, should have -v4 i believe so you may have to rename those in the theme version.) Or you could manually move the .png's by opening each one in 7zip side by side.

Ok I will try and let your rude comments go this time. You cant fully replace the stock dialer. All you can do is use another app. As your using a sense based rom. you cant fully replace the dialer
Sorry bud, I was just trying to be helpful.
If you want themed dialers full themes have them you can extract the dialer apk from the zip. And flash them in a new zip.

Like I said you can't replace the dialer. That is just a theme. Meaning its the same dialer just different colors. Theming the dialer is not hard but not easy either. If you don't want to do it by hand you have to find a themed dialer that is from your OS version and Sense version and then swap the apks. Or you can dig in amd learn to theme it yourself. A search for apkmultitool and sense theme tut will get you started down that road.

Yeah IT will work. It will take you a few trial and errors as there are many things that it doesnt tell you. Like all the images for the dialer are in 3 apks. com.htc.resources, HTCdialer.apk and Phone.apk. I have themed the dialer before and to get it just right I spent about 2 days editing images in Photoshop and changing color code XMLs in notepad++

I would personally go with CM. I never advice MIUI. Theming while it is hard and time consuming, when you get it just the way you want it is all worth it. Click the Gotham link in my sig to see mine.
And before I get the crap about why from others. MIUI took CM open source coding, Themed it and then made it closed source and then sold it on a device only available in China.
