Weather application for Australia - General Topics

Hi Good Peoples,
I am using SPB Weather 1.7x and was using the 'recrem' Template for Australia so the information can be pulled from weatherzone.com.au
All was fine until a few days ago when it stopped updating. It probably has got something to do with the changes recently made to weatherzone for minor cities/towns.
I have messed around with the template, including changing Moss Vale from 2577 to the new city code of 3751, but to no avail.
First question.... does anyone have a fix?
Second question.... If necessary, I may have to change my weather program. Any suggestions for a WM program that uses weatherzone as the weather source? (I have an HTC Touch HD.) Given the recent comments on the SPB Weather Forum, I am reluctant to upgrade to the current version.

I found that the Weather widget on the latest SPB Mobile Shell (3.5.1) is very accurate to Weatherzone for current conditions. However, it only uses main cities and not suburbs or areas within Sydney.

I am using the previous version of SPB Shell and it is because the included weather function does not enable small cities, that I bought SPB Weather in the first place. So unfortunately Shell 3 is not the answer.

Calendar - Hide tentative or categories from Today Screen?

Hi,
I have a bunch of appointments in a category called South Pacific (my gym) which I have also labeled as tentative. I wish that all these appointments would not show up on my today screen, as it clogs it up and makes it hard to see my actual meetings. I would prefer to just see them in the actual calendar app instead.
Is there some way I can hide either tentative or certain categories from the calendar on the today screen? If not, is there addon software that would do this for me?
By the way, I have a Wizard that I just upgraded to WM6.
Thanks
Hi, I just answered my own question.
If anyone is searching for a similar solution, I googled "today screen hide free appointments" and found TodayAgenda: http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/todayagenda.shtml
Totally free, does exactly what I want (and more, I have only used it for 2 minutes) plus it works with windows mobile 6. Did I mention it is free?

What is the difference btw SPB Pocket Plus 3.2 and SPB Mobile Shell 1.0?

What is the difference between SPB pocket plus 3.2 and SPB mobile shell 1.0? Does anyone recommend one over the other? Or both can be used together?
Please advise, thanks!
Hi both can be used together they dont really compete with each other more like complement

half off topic here but, i bought their pack of spb weather, diary, time, and pocket plus a while ago, i only use weather (no other uk freeware) and time (best software for my uses) nowadays. all spb products are very big and use ram, claunch and wm5newmenu and today agenda are much better and freeware,
back to topic, mobile shell, well i installed it, played with all the options, and eventually, i gave up trying to work out its purpose. all i could see that it does is give you a big clock image, notifications, battery and signal meters when you wake up the device (which you have to exit to do anything) it's sort of like a today screen before the real today screen, but with less info. other than that it give you the option to use your ppc with normal mobile phone style menus
I ditched shell in favour of pocket plus. The shell was too much of a memory hog. Install them (pocket plus first) and use the buzz dev Task Manager to see what I mean.
I like pocket plus with the BBC feed used in spb weather with the diary plug-in. I used to use cLaunch but prefer the flexibility of spb.
They can both be used in harmony and shell also allows you to integrate non spb today plug-ins into pocket plus (well, some). SPB shell is similar to, but not as sophisticated as, Wisbar Advance Desktop, and spb pocket plus is a launcher foremost - but you may also add to it spb weather/diary/sms/ etc. . .
I tested shell for a while but opted not to use it, but by all means give it a shot, loads of people seem to really like it.
After all, it is only my opinion.

Weather Cities .xml from Fuze

Hi all.
When I was in my AT&T store yesterday, I noticed that the Fuze that I checked out had my local weather on it. I have been trying to get that weather on my Athena without success, and was wondering if someone here could copy the weather cities .xml's from their Fuze windows folder, and pm it to me. That way I may finally then be able to get a local city on my Athena instead of one that is 55 miles south of me! The closest that I can get now is New Orleans, and their weather can differ alot from mine....
I need it to be from a Fuze and not a Raphael, as I tried one from a Raphael with the same results that I have now....
Thanks................Later
hdbueller,
I believe this is what you need:

I've added my city to the database and was able to then have the city shown up at the weather tab.

WM 6.5 Titanium (Sliding Panels) Plugins

If this has been covered before I apologize, I found it last night and thought that I would share.
In HKLM/Software/Microsoft/CHome there are key for various plugins. There is one labeled CWindowsLive, and I changed the value of disable from 1 to 0 and did a soft reset. When I rebooted there was a windows live plugin in titanium. It is kind of buggy but then again so is everything else 6.5 related on my device. There were also some other plugins but I could not get any of them to come up.
For the record I am using a cdma tp and had JD's 6.5 beta rom on my device. It is in the raphael cdma section if you want to dig around in it.
I have a picture of the plugin here: http://www.blakemitchellweb.com/blog/?p=34
Very interesting... I've heard the plugins mentioned before by the reps at MWC but I never saw them. Was the messenger app functional? What other ones were there?
Messenger was included but it would not launch due to some certificate error. I am not sure if that is because of the ROM or the program files.
There was also a welcome center plugin, something listed as testuiplugin, adn myfaves whic I assume is a t mobile plugin.
I saw a few shots of the Welcome Center plugin when I watched Microsoft's keynote at WMC. It seems to be nothing but a "Getting Started" type of thing for WinMo. I have never heard of the other ones though. It will be interesting to see how these plugins catch on and whether the developers will be releasing them for all kinds of purposes.
For me it is a glimmer of hope that titanium will allow 3rd party developers to make plugins.
You can make 3rd party plugins. This setup isn't much different then the sliding panels from the smartphone edition. There is already a user made weather plugin somewhere in the Raphael forums.

Sorry to barge in on your question here but can you tell me if in JD's 6.5 rom when you go from portrait to landscape does it mess with the image on your homescreen? I am using Da-g's 6.5 beta 8 and it is... very much so.
I honestly do not remember and I have gone back to a 6.1 rom. That was just to give it a test run. I may flash back to 6.5 on his next release to see the progression, and can let you know then.

CFootprints for WM 6.5 Today Screen

I've been looking for an HTC Footprints plugin for the WM 6.5 today screen. It doesn't seem to exist. So, I have two questions:
1. Is there an HTC Footprints plugin for CHome/Titanium?
If not...
2. Is anyone willing to make one?
I think it's an excellent app. Very useful for my line of work. Being a stagehand employed by multiple companies, I do setups for everything from arena concerts and sporting events to weddings in obscure places. It's nice to be able to take a picture of a place, name it, and be one or two steps away from having it plotted on Google Maps.
