Hey guys posted this over at PPC as well and hope someone can shed some more light on this.
Here is the post:
Hope someone can help me out. I flashed Mighty and also Energy ROMs but can't seem to get the data to work on this phone.
I have already tried to do the following:
##778 settings in the back end are all done properly. Done this for TP1 several times.
Deleted these from the registry on phone:
HKLM/Services/**File was either HTC GUardian or CMGuardian..don't remember since I deleted..
HKLM/Software/HTC/CM_Guardian_Services**Everything that was in this folder
I did the right data settings under connections for Metropcs...done this for TP1 many times.
The proxy settings stick no problem with the wap.metropcs.net:3128, except for the Secure which is wap.metropcs.net:443
The problem is when you try and access the internet, you can see the arrows for a couple seconds, then they disappear and then the login screen shows up again with Username and password.
The username is: 10digit [email protected] as usual
PW: metropcs
Hit save or finish and usually you are good to go!!!
Everytime I try and access data that pop up screen shows up. What other Stock Sprint files are there that are preventing me from using Metropcs settings?
Any help would be great: been trying to get this working for a week now. I decided to finally put a post to see if I can get the PROS to help.
Thanks in advance.
did u set it to use the connection u created in the advanced config tab ?
did u by any chance install the cab by ryan mogul full metropcs programmer?

1: Check your Windows\startup folder for "HTC_CM_Guardian.lnk", which is a shortcut to Windows\HTC_CM_Guardian.exe. If the shortcut exists delete it. If not then you probably have a newer Sprint ROM which doesn't have the shortcut to launch that application. It is still launching it in some other way however and I have not been able to figure it out from searching forums and the web. The general consensus is to replace the file with a dummy file that I've attached (extract from the zip). Download the attached file and replace "Windows\HTC_CM_Guardian.exe" with the dummy file which will prevent it from running.
NOTE: This file is what resets your Sprint connection to its default settings despite editing these settings. Disabling this file by deleting or replacing it is critical. You may need to use a program such as Resco File Explorer or another File Explorer utility to overwrite/delete/rename Read-Only or ROM files.
2: Rename the following files and folders:
Windows\iota.exe ---> windows\iotaOLD.exe
Windows\iotaconf.txt ---> windows\iotaconfgOLD.txt
Program Files\IOTA ---> Program Files\IOTAOLD
NOTE: renaming the IOTA folder is probably all that is needed however I found the files as well and renamed them for good measure and haven't had a problem.
3: Open your phone and enter ##778#, select "EDIT" and enter your unlock code.
4: Set the following values:
M.IP Settings:
MIP_MODE = Simple IP Only
M.IP Default Profile:
NAI = [email protected]
Home Address = 0.0.0.0 (just delete the values and save)
Primary HA Address = 0.0.0.0 (just delete the values and save)
Secondary HA Address = 0.0.0.0 (just delete the values and save)
Security:
HDR AN AUTH User Id = [email protected]
PPP USER ID = [email protected]
PPP PASSWORD = metropcs
5: Goto Connections and delete any existing connections and setup a new one using the following settings:
Number to dail = #777
Username: [email protected]
Password: metropcs
Domain: (Leave Blank)
Select Proxy Settings and enter the following values:
wap.metropcs.net port:3128 (http)
wap.metropcs.net port:3128 (wap)
wap.metropcs.net port:443 (secure wap)
wap.metropcs.net port:3128 (socks)
6: Back in the "Connections" screen where you have two tabs at the bottom of the screen of "Tasks" and "Advanced", go to Advanced, click on "Select Networks" and select the name of the connection you just setup.
Example if you leave as Sprint then choose that one as your internet connection and do it for both settings.

AT&T has disabled (hidden) VPN capability on their
Motorola Q9h. How nice. It is magically re-enabled when
you purchase their nice expensive "enterprise data plan."
This is somehow magically done over the air but I am certain
it is a registry item. Anyone aware of how to make the VPN
config re-appear on this device, is it indeed simply a
registry setting and if so where/what? Any help appreciated,
thanks!

I tried this and it didn't work. Does that entry even have anything to do with the VPN?

could you please explain this to me like a 2yr old baby? I just want to be able to decode my phone. hope am at the right place?
Enclose all the reg hack for Q9H for your reference
The Q9h has a file size limit (307.2 KB) on ringtones that is embedded in the registry of the operating system (Windows Mobile 6). That is what is causing the problem for people of this forum wanting to use MP3s and other relatively large sound files.
1) Get a good registry editor (I recommend Resco Explorer's "Resco Registry" tool. Then use it to change the file size limit, found in HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Control Panel/Sounds/. When you find the File Size Limit line at the end, click on it and replace the "307200" limit with whatever (reasonable) # you want. Click Done and you're good to go.
2) Now you have to transfer your sound file from your laptop/desktop to your Q9h. Go ahead and Synchronize your Q9h. Once it finishes synchronizing, find your sound file on your laptop and copy it. Now click on the Explore option on your synchronize window. Go to My Device/Application Data/Sounds/ and paste your sound file. Also paste it into My Documents/My Ringtone.
3) Lastly, you need to change the Sounds settings on your Q9h to use your sound file for whichever events (phone, email, IM) you want. Go to Start...System Tools...Settings...Sounds and scroll through each event list until you find your desired sound.
Enable Network Selection Mode:
HKEY Current User\ControlPanel\PhoneNetSelMode\
Set value "option" from 0 to 1
Restart your device.
Enable band selection:
By doing this you can pick automatic/North America 3G/GSM W850/W1900(3G) 850/1900(GSM) 900/1800 (GSM)
1. Go to Home Screen
2. Type *#1546792*# and then send
3. You will see new screen that indicates that Band
Selection was enabled
4. Now you can go to Settings/Phone/Network/Band
Selection
Enabling Search Frequency:
This hack will allow you to choose the speed at which your phone updates the signal strength icon. Please bear in mind that continuous will have a significant impact on your battery life. The default setting is Medium.
[HKLM\Software\Motorola\SearchFreq] Change the Enable DWord string to 1. Done and done.
Tether With ICS:
1. Navigate to HKLM\Comm\InternetSharing\Settings
2. In here will be a value named "ForceCellConnection"
3. Change "ATT ICS" to "" (make it blank) and reboot your device.
ICS will now give you the option to choose either ATT ICS or MEdia Net. ATT ICS will not work without a tethering plan on your wireless account because of the fact that its set up to connect to a secure WAP network, but MEdia Net will work as long as you have the signal and the basic pay-as-you-go feature (definitely not recommended).
ATT ICS uses "isp.cingular" (Private IP address assigned) whereas MEdia Net uses "wap.cingular" (general internet).
Enable Editing of ATT ICS and Media Net settings:
1. Navigate to HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4...}\Connections
2. There will be 2 keys in here. One for ATT ICS and MEdia Net. In those keys there will be a value of ReadOnly
3. Change "ReadOnly" from 1 to 0
4. Restart your device.
5. Upon restart, you may now delete or change the default information.
To restore the "Music" key launching Windows Media Player:
Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keybd
Change the APP2_path key to read: "\windows\wmplayer.exe"
Restart your device.
Enable editing of your Proxy:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{EF097F4 C-DC4B-4c98-8FF6-AEF805DC0E8E}\Cingular WAP
Change "ReadOnly" from 1 to 0, and restart your device Upon restart, you may now delete or change the proxy information.
Change ATT MMS Settings:
HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Motorola\MMS\Profiles\ AT&T MMS
Change the value of "Lock" from 1 to 0. Restart your device.
hey, thanks a lot for this thread!!! very helpfull... with some registry tweaks I was able to unlock this nasty AT&T connections that were preventing my moto q9h to connect properly. I unlocked them and then I erase them. Now everything is working fine.

Hi.
I am an absolute newbie for a WM Device. I just got my HTC s710 two days ago.
Can anyone help me with a step-by-step setting for Vodafone Live settings ?
I use the network wizard but the settings don't work. Not been able to find anything on Google either.
I open IE n can only browse the default favourites. Cannot download anything either.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
I had a problem here in Germay to, but after my first try Vodafone sent me a text message. I don't know if this works for you, but maybe it will. Go to settings-> connetions->GPRS->Vodafone Internet and change Acces Point to event.vodafone.(what ever india has, here it's de) Then try again!
the connection setup wizard does work for vodafone in India.
try that.
It configures everything.
EDIT:
sorry i didn't notice that you have already tried that.

Hi!
I'm using Hutch-WAP for data-usage on my Vox, since Vodafone Live settings dont seem to work on this smartphone.
You might have got the Hutch GPRS and WAP settings in Connection Settings after running the network wizard.
Just check, Hutch-WAP settings should be:
Connects to: WAP Network
Access Point: portalnmms
Rest settings are default.
Then, in Phone Settings>Connections,Select Proxy and edit the Hutch-WAP Proxy.
Connects from: WAP network
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy(name : port): 10.10.1.100:9401
Type: HTTP
In Connections>Menu>Advanced,
Select:
Internet Connection: Hutch-WAP
Work Connection: Automatic
WAP connection: Hutch-WAP
Secure WAP: Auto.
Then in Internet Explorer, Menu>Tools>Options>Connections:
Check Automatically detect settings.
Select Network: The Internet
These settings work fine for me, you can try and let me know.

i really dont understand why Vodafone Live wont work on a WM device.... works like a charm on Symbian S60 n UIQ .... and the best part is Vodafone Live is free !!!
@phreaker18,
yes, even I don't understand why it doesnt work fine with out of the box settings, and till someone comes out with the correct answer, we have to use workarounds.
It does work great with Symbian, i checked my SIM in a NOKIA, and Vodafone Live worked without modifying any settings.
And Vodafone Live is NOT FREE, its just that it doesnt have any rental, but you are charged for data transfer.

Hello everyone, well here is the thing im in Mexico City right now and looks like im going to be here for some time.
So now here are the problems i have with TELCEL
The day i added the SIM Card to my phone the 3G worked just fine all i needed was 2USD on Credit to get Internet.
But i used my 2USD on 2 calls and well it said that i needed to add more credit.
I added 10USD but now IE is just saying "Cant display the web page , cant find DNS server"
i called the crappy Telcel support ( and waited for like 1hr no kidding) just get this crappy answer "Sorry we dont have the configuration settings for your phone , in the call center we dont have information about newer phones only old onces"
I checked the Telcel Website and well they have the HTC Diamond on sell with the "Friend" (Amigo) pre-paid service, so they do have Windows Phones in here and the Touch Pro is the same as Diamond so i went to the Service Center and i showed them and explained but they were just jerks saying "If Telcel dosnt sell it even if its the same WE WONT HELP YOU"
i already did google's about all this i got the internet.itelcel.com crap but i still dont get the F. DNS settings.
i cant use Skype or Fring or opera or anything i even tryed with my own Proxy Server but nothing.
Also i cant send the F. SMS to number 500 with TODAS because for some wierd reason i cant send SMS in here.
Im using the newest TAEL ROM 6.5 and i changed radios like crazy, nothing works no MMS,SMS , WAP, GPRS, 3G.
i hope someone here can help me out... im hateing this TELCEL stuff but well theres no other company with 3G for GSM devices in here.
The MovileStart or whatever it is is just GPRS or so they said.
They should change the name from Telcel to FrustrationCEL
If someone can help me with the DNS Servers or something to send the SMS
Please help!!!!!!!!

Hope I Can Help!
Hi SAT117! Hope you are doing ok. I am from Mexico and I am using the Telcel carrier also, I recommend it better that the Movistar network.
Well, I also have a Fuze since last year and its working like a charm.
Here are the things that I had to do so I could use AT&T Fuze on Telcel.
First get rid of the MEdia net connections, delete them.
Then on Settings/Connections add a new one called Telcel Internet.
Select Cellular Line (GPRS,3G)
Access Point Name: internet.itelcel.com
Username: webgprs
Password: webgprs2002
Then press Finish.
You have made the internet connection.
Now you have to get rid of the AT&T Proxy. Go to START/PROGRAMS/TOOLS/PROXY MANAGER and then DISABLE PROXY.
(In case you have another ROM other than the AT&T original one, then you should be up and running with the Internet connection)
If you need MMS, WAP or other configurations let me know.
Hope you get it runnin'.
well still no go it connects it shows H and it shows that is connected, and i still cant get the phone to show the "you are out of credit or something like that"
i cant use internet at all on the phone unless is over activesync or wifi
step by step help
hummm what a strange case ive been flashing a whole bunch of roms and radios to a whole bunch of touch pros and it never has happened anything like that to me so lets go through some possible things you havent done yet
first you are a senior member so im assuming you know all the details about flashing this and that yara yara ok so how about if before we go any further you try a different rom let's say an energy one since those are the most popular try this one EnergyROM_21885_RAPHAEL_24.Dec.2009_Standard if you are using tael's it's probably cuz you are looking for speed and stability i think this one should match what you are looking for ok still no luck?
ok theres a cab that gets you going with al Frustel's lol! configs http://rapidshare.com/files/43254754/Telcel_Mexico_PPC.CAB still no luck?
ok flash this radio (one of the best in my opinion)
RUU_Raphael_Radio_Raphael_52.58.25.30_1.11.25.01_Ship
"google it" nothing?

I am having a problem however in sending MMS files. everytime i try, there is a prompt which says, "connecting to AT&T...GPRS and 3G... and then the MMS stays in the outbox folder..this happens everytime i try to send an MMS. It won't access to the Internet explorer either...the only thuing I can use is sending text messages...the rest of the functions won't work. I am confused now as to how am I gonna use my treo phone to its maximum features.. I hope somenoe can help me on this...
Thank you.
It seems your phone is trying to access Internet using connection settings for previous US operator. Did you make all the settings for your local network (Start > Settings > Connections > etc.)?
a guide how to do it
1. Start, Settings, Connections, and then tap the Connections Icon
2. Under "My Work Network" tap Add a New Modem Connection
3. Name it Picture Messaging and under Select a modem select (GPRS,3G)
4. Under Access Point Name type: ____________ (ask your cell company)
5. Username, Password, and Domain is left blank and then click Finish
6. Now, go into Proxy Settings and check "This network connects to the Internet" and check "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet"
7. Under the Proxy Server box type: _________ (ask your cell company)
8. Tap the advanced button and tap on the HTTP line. Make sure the HTTP settings shows __________ (ask your cell company)
9. Click the OK button a few times to get out of the settings completely.
10.Now go to Start, Messaging, Menu, then Options, Advance, then Click Manual, and then the Edit button
11. Message center number _________ (ask your cell company)
12. Email center number is _____ (ask your cell company)
13. MMS gateway address is ___________ (ask your cell company)
14. MMS URL is http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/servlets/mms (ask your cell company)
15. Finally under Network Profile select: My Work Network and then click ok.
Thank you very much for sending me this procedure to correct the setting of my mobile phone. I will coordinate with my Local network here in the Phils. to supply the needed settings.
Best regards,
Abrille
Dear All,
I have followed the instructions that you have given to me but still I couldn't access and/or browse the internet as well as receiving MMS format files. I tried to access and view some threads and I happened to see an email thread that gives an instruction on how to Re-flash/Unbrand a Palm Treo 750... I would like to ask your expertise Sirs if this is the next possible way or solution to solve the problem with my Treo 750? I hope someone can help me on this...thank you and more power to all.
Abrille
To access internet via Internet Explorer, you need the correct GPRS/WAP settings to tell it to use the right APN.
Try the settings listed here:

To set up a new GPRS connection profile use this:

Hi everyone..
I know radio performance varies greatly depending on your geographical location, but I use a smaller carrier that only operates in 1 state... (well, I can roam around the US, but only home area is 1 state)... After playing around with MANY roms & radios, this is what I found...
I am using a US Cellular branded Touch Pro 2....
I am using the "Energy.RHODCDMA.21911.Sense2.5.Cookie.Jul.24" rom w/ the "VZW_1.88.07WV" radio... I get the highest level of signal with this radio.. At home, I wa typicalls gettign 0-2 bars.. now I get 3-5... Also, as an added suprise.. my battery life has tripled (And I am still using it just as much, if not more).... I was very happily suprised and shocked... Also, the GPS seems to lock in pretty quickly too right out of the box....
You still need to manualyl set up your internet and MMS settings with this (and all) rom... and the settings are for the newest Airfire/Einstein settings...
first off, of course make sure you turn CDMA off and only GSM on... (not world phone mode)...
1. Start
>Settings
>Connections Tab
>Connections
2. Add New Connection
3. Enter name for connection “Airfire Internet”
>Under select modem select “Cellular Line (GPRS)”
>Next
4. Enter access point name> internet.air.net
>Next
5. Leave User name, Password and Domain all blank
> tap Finish
E-Mail
1. Start>Messaging
2. On messaging screen select Menu in bottom right corner and go to options
3. Select Outlook E-mail from list
4. Under server address enter> webmail.airadigm.com
>check the box for SSL connection
>Next
5. Enter in your user name and password for your e-mail
>enter airadigm under domain
>check box for save password
>Next
6. Select what you want your phone to sync with on your PC
> Finish
7. Start
>Settings>Connections tab> Comm Manager
>Turn on Data Connection and Microsoft Direct Push
8. Wait a few minutes and your e-mail should sync with your PC
MMS
1. Start> Messaging> SMS/MMS> Menu in right corner> MMS Options
2. Servers tab> New> Airfire MMS
>leave gateway blank> Port: 8080
>Server address: http://mms.airfiremobile.com/+1(10 digit number)
> Under Connect via select Airfire Internet
>Done Note: You must add the +1 before your number
3. When screen returns to the settings page after entering MMS settings set your MMS settings you just created as default.
I hope this helps everyone who has airfire... or even people just looking for a great rom/radio combination that gives good battery life!
