Hi.
I am an absolute newbie for a WM Device. I just got my HTC s710 two days ago.
Can anyone help me with a step-by-step setting for Vodafone Live settings ?
I use the network wizard but the settings don't work. Not been able to find anything on Google either.
I open IE n can only browse the default favourites. Cannot download anything either.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

I had a problem here in Germay to, but after my first try Vodafone sent me a text message. I don't know if this works for you, but maybe it will. Go to settings-> connetions->GPRS->Vodafone Internet and change Acces Point to event.vodafone.(what ever india has, here it's de) Then try again!

the connection setup wizard does work for vodafone in India.
try that.
It configures everything.
EDIT:
sorry i didn't notice that you have already tried that.

Hi!
I'm using Hutch-WAP for data-usage on my Vox, since Vodafone Live settings dont seem to work on this smartphone.
You might have got the Hutch GPRS and WAP settings in Connection Settings after running the network wizard.
Just check, Hutch-WAP settings should be:
Connects to: WAP Network
Access Point: portalnmms
Rest settings are default.
Then, in Phone Settings>Connections,Select Proxy and edit the Hutch-WAP Proxy.
Connects from: WAP network
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy(name : port): 10.10.1.100:9401
Type: HTTP
In Connections>Menu>Advanced,
Select:
Internet Connection: Hutch-WAP
Work Connection: Automatic
WAP connection: Hutch-WAP
Secure WAP: Auto.
Then in Internet Explorer, Menu>Tools>Options>Connections:
Check Automatically detect settings.
Select Network: The Internet
These settings work fine for me, you can try and let me know.

i really dont understand why Vodafone Live wont work on a WM device.... works like a charm on Symbian S60 n UIQ .... and the best part is Vodafone Live is free !!!

@phreaker18,
yes, even I don't understand why it doesnt work fine with out of the box settings, and till someone comes out with the correct answer, we have to use workarounds.
It does work great with Symbian, i checked my SIM in a NOKIA, and Vodafone Live worked without modifying any settings.
And Vodafone Live is NOT FREE, its just that it doesnt have any rental, but you are charged for data transfer.

Please help me setup my Internet and MMS settings

OK i have a 750v from the UK and i use it with the Vodafone contract i got it with. I unlocked it so i can use it back home here in Cyprus when im here for the holidays etc but for some reason i cant get internet or MMS to work. I had found the settings off the Cytamobile-Vodafone (my phone provider, Cytamobile is owned by Vodafone now) website but they dont work.
So i called them (a few times) and they said they cant help me and the only thing they can do is send me a document with the settings written so that i can put them myself... I tried to several times but still nothing! The weird thing is that if i keep my Vodafone UK internet settings it works but i'm not sure if im going to be paying loads extra or not with those settings. MMS dont work either way.
--------------------------------------------------------
This is the: "Basic settings for WAP over GPRS" that i was sent
Account Name: cytagprs
Profile Name: cytagprs
Connect using
or Bearer Type
or Data bearer
or Packet: GPRS
APN
or GPRS access point
or Access Point Name: cytamobile
User id
or User name
or Login name: user
Password: pass
IP address
or Gateway
or Primary Proxy Server
or Proxy address: 212.31.96.161
IP address Port: 9201
Proxy Server Port: 8080
------------------------------------------------------
And they also sent me these settings for MMS
Profile name : Cytamms
Data Bearer : GPRS
Access Point name : cytamobile
User name : user
Password : pass
Authentication : normal
Gate Way IP address : 212.031.096.161
Homepage : http://mmsc.cyta.com.cy
Connection security : off
----------------------------------------------------
The voda UK settings for Internet (the ones in "My ISP") are:
Access point name: internet
username : web
Password : web
Oh also when i change the APN from "cytamobile" which i was given, to the Vodafone UK APN which is "internet" but i keep the Cyta-Voda username and password, internet still works. Im really confused.
Can some knowledgeable expert help me figure this out? Thanks and sorry for the huge post!
Try to hard-reset first, make sure everything are clean up.
And then, repeat your setting at menu
1. Setting - Connections
2. Manage Existing Connection - Click "NEW" and follow step-by-step (dont forget chooce Mode as Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G).
3. done
I already did a hard reset a few times and entered the settings and all but still nothing...

Operator Settings CAB file needed ..

Despite extensive searching on this forum and others, I can't seem to find a CAB file for download that will auto-install operator settings for (UK) BT Mobile
Settings can be installed manually (as below), but can they be made into a CAB file for ease of use ? I'm not the first to ask ... so whoever does create one will be well respected !!
In settings, data connections, GPRS Connection, add the following, set up for WAP Network:
Name: BT Mobile
GPRS Access Point: btmobile.bt.com
User name: bt
Password: [none]
Do not enter any DNS or IP Address information.
Under the Proxy Connection, do the following:
Name: BT Proxy
"Connect from" Select WAP Network
"Connects to" The Internet
Proxy (Nameort): 212.183.137.12:8799
Type: HTTP
User name: bt
Password: [none]
In the Data Connections screen, Set the WAP Connection to BT Mobile.
Within Internet Explorer, turn off the "Automatically detect settings" option and specify connect by WAP Network.
Many Thanks

Thanks .. but it doesn't contain the settings for BT Mobile

Still looking ...
Thanks

opera mini india anyone ?

hello everyone.
I am using the 'pay as u use' gprs on Vodafone India. The problem is that though i can use IE and Opera Browser, Opera mini does not seem to work when it works over my wifi network flawlessly. Opera Mini works on all my friends phones with the same Vodafone GPRS settings.
Not a good feat. for such an advanced smartphone :-(
has anyone solved this ?
thanks in advance
hi......
wch java manager did u install opera mini on?? ... the inbuilt one or u installed any other?? ... if not... try using JBED3DMOD java app .. it has been modded for allowing permissions better and also its full screen.... search on XDA... u shud get it
if u have any prob just post here... i'll reply
i used to have that problem with the original rom. i cant exactly remember how i fix it but it had something to do with playing around with the gprs settings and where it said connect to 'the internet' i changed it to 'work'
on wm6.1 use connection setup and everythin is fine

also make sure ur time and date settings are right. or u can try establishing a connection with ie by going to google.com and as soon as page opens go see if opera mini works. if this is the case u should just play around with ur gprs settings
thanks gys for all the help but i still can't get it to work. can i assume that u are using vodafone india ?
i have tried installing opera mini thru the default javamanager, esmetic with 3d mod n something called couldyfa or something. ..... all negative results
maybe the problem is your java.

Touch Pro ROM on a little known network

I've been plying with ROMs on my ATT Fuze for a while and feel pretty good about it. My future sister-in-law just got her husband a Touch Pro but they use ACS (Alaska Comunication Services). Now when I load a ROM on my phone and when I put my SIM in for the first time it asks to setup the carrier and ATT is the first on the list so I never have worried about this step. What if ACS is not on the very short list of carriers, what will in need to know when I select other, what is it going to ask me?
Thanks.
*bump*
I am also on a smaller carrier.... Einstein Wireless (aka Einstein PCS)... May carrier also isn;t on the list.. text messaging and calling works.. but not internet or picture messaging ... Any suggestions?
P.S. Below is the list of settings I used on my Tilt to get them to work..
Under settings, coto Connections...
Name for connection : EinsteinPCS Internet
access poin name : apn (case sensitive)
Usename : (leave blank)
password: (leave blank)
domain : (leave blank)
...under advanced
User Servier assigned IP address
click ok..
under proxy settings check: this network connects to the internet
check this network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet
proxy server should be :192.168.254.251
click advanced
http: 192.168.254.251:8080
wap: 192.168.254.251:9201
secure wap: 192.168.254.251:9201
socks (blank)
For MMS... go into MMS Options... goto servers.. set these settings :
Server Name : Einstein Wireless MMS
Gateway : 192.168.254.251
Port # : 9201
Server Address : httP//www.einsteinmms.com\+1(your 10 digit # here)
Connect via : EinsteinPCS Internet
Seriously guys? Just phone the carrier and ask for the settings - they'll either tell you, or send them as a network message (or both). The auto-config just makes life easier the the majority of people, its not essential.
