opera mini india anyone ? - HTC Vox

hello everyone.
I am using the 'pay as u use' gprs on Vodafone India. The problem is that though i can use IE and Opera Browser, Opera mini does not seem to work when it works over my wifi network flawlessly. Opera Mini works on all my friends phones with the same Vodafone GPRS settings.
Not a good feat. for such an advanced smartphone :-(
has anyone solved this ?
thanks in advance

hi......
wch java manager did u install opera mini on?? ... the inbuilt one or u installed any other?? ... if not... try using JBED3DMOD java app .. it has been modded for allowing permissions better and also its full screen.... search on XDA... u shud get it
if u have any prob just post here... i'll reply

i used to have that problem with the original rom. i cant exactly remember how i fix it but it had something to do with playing around with the gprs settings and where it said connect to 'the internet' i changed it to 'work'
on wm6.1 use connection setup and everythin is fine

also make sure ur time and date settings are right. or u can try establishing a connection with ie by going to google.com and as soon as page opens go see if opera mini works. if this is the case u should just play around with ur gprs settings

thanks gys for all the help but i still can't get it to work. can i assume that u are using vodafone india ?
i have tried installing opera mini thru the default javamanager, esmetic with 3d mod n something called couldyfa or something. ..... all negative results

maybe the problem is your java.
it runs well on my phone with jbed.but i'm in China

maybe u right, but the problem was also in the original htc rom, the gonzo wm 6.1 rom and many diff versions of java

can u do one thing.... tell me step by step the gprs settings that u have put on ur phone... there is a place where it says abt connect to and abt proxy... tell me those and i will tell u if u r making any mistake.... and also be sure that u dont have other internet profile other than the one u r using.....
the prob is i have airtel so i cant explain from my side but if u tel ur current settings in detail then i will tell u to make the reqd changes....

Please help me setup my Internet and MMS settings

OK i have a 750v from the UK and i use it with the Vodafone contract i got it with. I unlocked it so i can use it back home here in Cyprus when im here for the holidays etc but for some reason i cant get internet or MMS to work. I had found the settings off the Cytamobile-Vodafone (my phone provider, Cytamobile is owned by Vodafone now) website but they dont work.
So i called them (a few times) and they said they cant help me and the only thing they can do is send me a document with the settings written so that i can put them myself... I tried to several times but still nothing! The weird thing is that if i keep my Vodafone UK internet settings it works but i'm not sure if im going to be paying loads extra or not with those settings. MMS dont work either way.
--------------------------------------------------------
This is the: "Basic settings for WAP over GPRS" that i was sent
Account Name: cytagprs
Profile Name: cytagprs
Connect using
or Bearer Type
or Data bearer
or Packet: GPRS
APN
or GPRS access point
or Access Point Name: cytamobile
User id
or User name
or Login name: user
Password: pass
IP address
or Gateway
or Primary Proxy Server
or Proxy address: 212.31.96.161
IP address Port: 9201
Proxy Server Port: 8080
------------------------------------------------------
And they also sent me these settings for MMS
Profile name : Cytamms
Data Bearer : GPRS
Access Point name : cytamobile
User name : user
Password : pass
Authentication : normal
Gate Way IP address : 212.031.096.161
Homepage : http://mmsc.cyta.com.cy
Connection security : off
----------------------------------------------------
The voda UK settings for Internet (the ones in "My ISP") are:
Access point name: internet
username : web
Password : web
Oh also when i change the APN from "cytamobile" which i was given, to the Vodafone UK APN which is "internet" but i keep the Cyta-Voda username and password, internet still works. Im really confused.
Can some knowledgeable expert help me figure this out? Thanks and sorry for the huge post!
Try to hard-reset first, make sure everything are clean up.
And then, repeat your setting at menu
1. Setting - Connections
2. Manage Existing Connection - Click "NEW" and follow step-by-step (dont forget chooce Mode as Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G).
3. done
I already did a hard reset a few times and entered the settings and all but still nothing...

Tmobile email setting (no wap?)

I upgraded to wm6 and email setting doesnt have WAP?It only has Internet or work.Anyone know how to get email and internet with WM6?
wow nobody?
nobody knows the answer?
Follow this guide to get the internet setup (t-zones), then in email try work first, if that does not work, try internet.
1. In Settings/Connections/GPRS/T-Mobile Data:
Tmobile Data Connects to: WAPNetwork
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com
2. Add a 2nd GPRS option:
T-Mobile Data 2
Connects to: Work
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com
3. Then create TWO Proxies:
Settings/Connections/Proxy
First Proxy:
Name:Tzones Proxy
Connects from: WAP Network
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP
Second Proxy:
Name Tzones Proxy 2 Connects from: Work
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP
4. In connections, click menu, then advance and set ALL connections to AUTOMATIC
5. To get the Exchange Server working:
(Exchange Server settings)
Options/Advanced
Connection: Internet
6. To get Pop mail accounts working:
(This will need to be done for each account you have)
Options/Account settings/Advanced Server Settings
Network Connection: Work
NOTE! The option to select which way to connect isn't available until you finish creating the POP account (go back in and change to: Work)
7. To get IE working:
(In Pocket Internet Explorer) Menu/Tools/Options/Connections
Check "Automatically Detect Settings"
Select Network: WAP Network
That should do it! Not all applications will work with this configuration, but Messaging (Exchange/POP3/IMAP) and Pocket Internet Explorer will work. Credits for the WM6 instructions to go http://dashapps.googlepages.com/ ! If the above instructions don't work, try completely deleting the connections and re-adding them.
wow thats funny, i had the exact same problem with my phone and tzones, and i figured out the exact same solution, cept on mine i dont need the proxy for the work connection to get the email to work and i have ie set to internet.
SDA instant messenger
With WM6 is there a way to get that instant messenger program that was on the tmobile SDA?Will it work?
PS thanks Elsmacko for the previous help!

Hi.
I am an absolute newbie for a WM Device. I just got my HTC s710 two days ago.
Can anyone help me with a step-by-step setting for Vodafone Live settings ?
I use the network wizard but the settings don't work. Not been able to find anything on Google either.
I open IE n can only browse the default favourites. Cannot download anything either.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
I had a problem here in Germay to, but after my first try Vodafone sent me a text message. I don't know if this works for you, but maybe it will. Go to settings-> connetions->GPRS->Vodafone Internet and change Acces Point to event.vodafone.(what ever india has, here it's de) Then try again!
the connection setup wizard does work for vodafone in India.
try that.
It configures everything.
EDIT:
sorry i didn't notice that you have already tried that.

Hi!
I'm using Hutch-WAP for data-usage on my Vox, since Vodafone Live settings dont seem to work on this smartphone.
You might have got the Hutch GPRS and WAP settings in Connection Settings after running the network wizard.
Just check, Hutch-WAP settings should be:
Connects to: WAP Network
Access Point: portalnmms
Rest settings are default.
Then, in Phone Settings>Connections,Select Proxy and edit the Hutch-WAP Proxy.
Connects from: WAP network
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy(name : port): 10.10.1.100:9401
Type: HTTP
In Connections>Menu>Advanced,
Select:
Internet Connection: Hutch-WAP
Work Connection: Automatic
WAP connection: Hutch-WAP
Secure WAP: Auto.
Then in Internet Explorer, Menu>Tools>Options>Connections:
Check Automatically detect settings.
Select Network: The Internet
These settings work fine for me, you can try and let me know.

i really dont understand why Vodafone Live wont work on a WM device.... works like a charm on Symbian S60 n UIQ .... and the best part is Vodafone Live is free !!!
@phreaker18,
yes, even I don't understand why it doesnt work fine with out of the box settings, and till someone comes out with the correct answer, we have to use workarounds.
It does work great with Symbian, i checked my SIM in a NOKIA, and Vodafone Live worked without modifying any settings.
And Vodafone Live is NOT FREE, its just that it doesnt have any rental, but you are charged for data transfer.

Touch Pro ROM on a little known network

I've been plying with ROMs on my ATT Fuze for a while and feel pretty good about it. My future sister-in-law just got her husband a Touch Pro but they use ACS (Alaska Comunication Services). Now when I load a ROM on my phone and when I put my SIM in for the first time it asks to setup the carrier and ATT is the first on the list so I never have worried about this step. What if ACS is not on the very short list of carriers, what will in need to know when I select other, what is it going to ask me?
Thanks.
*bump*
I am also on a smaller carrier.... Einstein Wireless (aka Einstein PCS)... May carrier also isn;t on the list.. text messaging and calling works.. but not internet or picture messaging ... Any suggestions?
P.S. Below is the list of settings I used on my Tilt to get them to work..
Under settings, coto Connections...

Seriously guys? Just phone the carrier and ask for the settings - they'll either tell you, or send them as a network message (or both). The auto-config just makes life easier the the majority of people, its not essential.

Internet Settings help please for "Einstein Wireless"

Hi Everyone...
A few days ago I got a really good deal on a AT&T Fuze... I have long had my AT&T branded Tilt/Kaiser and had no problems using it what-so-ever. After playing with it a few days, I have done everything to it from HardSPL to rom to radio..... I have decided on NRG 's Energy.RAPHAEL.21889.StandardM2.5_27.Jan.2010 rom. This rom works great, has the features that I wanted, and looks nice too . I got the full rom which has a network setup that seemed pretty inclusive, but to no suprise, did not have mine, "Einstein Wiress" in wisconsin. I have all the settings it took to make it work on my tilt along with the "instructions" I wrote myself to make it work...
I would really appreciate it if someone who already is using their Touch Pro from Einstein could share the settings, or what I am missing. If you have an idea, please feel free to share it. Here are the "instructions".
Name for connection : EinsteinPCS Internet
access poin name : apn (case sensitive)
Usename : (leave blank)

Connect via : EinsteinPCS Internet
I hope this is enough.. Right now it now it show the "E" for Edge... (Einstein is a GPRS/Edge company, no 3G)// When I try to run a program ir "connects" and shows by the signal strength meter that I am connected... but every program gets nothing.. The weather, QuickGRPS, internet browsing, etc... All of these same programs are confirmed working with WiFi. I made sure everything is set to connect to the internet using "Einstein Wireless"... I have tried both transparent and non-transparent connections (I never had that option before) & I beleive I have tried all 3 of the the 9600 protocals in the advance settings... My tilt was set to chap (like AT&T)... If you have any questions feel free to ask...
Thank you in advance,
Teej
Ok Everyone!
After erasing all the internet settings again for the 5th time... I inputted everything in, made sure that 3G/UPSD options turned off, it seems to be working this time.. No idea what I did diffrent this time than all the others, but it works.. That is what matters... Thank you to all those who offered help via PM or in the forums...
