If you use IE you can use the regular youtube site, but it opens vids in the player application, so you get the best of both worlds

Is it possible that when a youtube link is posted that when clicking it in opera it doesn't just open the page in youtube but instead opens the video in the youtube app so you can actually watch the video since opera doesn't play embeded videos, unless I've missed an app for this.
im also looking for the same thing, does anyone know how?
This has been asked for time and time again, and there's never been a way to do it. I used to love the way that IE would open the YouTube app when you tried to play a YouTube video, but now I use Opera 10 and watch YouTube vids directly on the page they're on, in full screen. It's perfect. If you can get used to the click-to-zoom and back-to-zoom-out idea, Opera 10 is loads better than 9.7, and plays most flash files (once plugins are turned on).
Actually it is Possible.
I have been doing this for a long time in my hd2.
It doesnt work from a www.youtube.com link. The trick is to use the built in opera browser and open the youtube mobile site at m.youtube.com. just click on any of the thumbnail images of the video and the htc youtube app kicks in and plays it in the proper quality not in 3gp quality of the youtube mobile site !!!
you can also convert any normal youtube video link to mobile youtube link by changing the www into w in the link!
it works like a charm!!!

That's obviously only good for if you're on the YouTube site though. It doesn't help for video posted on other sites, as in links to YouTube. I'd still tell everyone who uses YouTube to get Opera 10. It's great!

yes. You are right. an alternative is tap and hold link in opera and open in new tab and edit "www" to "m".
The thing is with opera 10 direct youtube play the video quality is very blocky!
this gives a much cleaner playback.
I have an idea for any devs to develop a small program to translate the desktop youtube link to mobile youtube link on the fly. kind of an intermediate app which captures the link from opera 9.7 translate the link and pass that to the native youtube app! that would be cool!
When I click Youtube links from the web, they play in HTC Flash Player. Seems to be a different app than the Youtube app. It's lower quality than even normal quality in the Youtube app and I frequently get sync issues.
Is there a way to make a Youtube link open in the Youtube app instead?

You should have an option to choose the htc flash player and the youtube app
try clearing the defaults on the HTC flash player.
ok, considering the jump to win phone
I have a few questions on how it deals with video links in email, websites and in apps
iOS6 when you click a YouTube within FB or Twitter apps it goes to a web browser with in the the app and plays it in that browser, or if you click open in safari if its YouTube it goes to the YT app
On android its similar
what does Windows phone do in these apps ?
A- if its a YouTube video
B- if its non YouTube but mobile friendly.
I basicly want how it handles YouTube video links, and non youtube
does it play with in the app, or does it fire up IE ?
I think it plays in a YouTube player and you can go "back" to return to social media app.
Sent from my HD7 using Board Express
I haven't tried the Twitter app, but in general, either within an app or the built-in integration (available for both FB and Twitter), video links will open in the browser. What happens then depends on how you have your browser set up; the default behavior for YouTube is to launch the YouTube app, but I prefer HTML5 video so I enabled that option on the YouTube site and set my browser in "desktop mode" so YT serves it HTML5 video. For sites which don't have any WP7-specific functionality but serve HTML5 video, the video will work fine as expected. HTML5 video doesn't actually play directly in the browser - it launches a separate video player to do it - but otherwise it works just fine.

To play video with subtitles in different format I suggest you MX Player. But it does not have ChromeCast capabilities.
To cast video, I suggest you either to cast your entire screen or to use videostream to stream directly from you PC.

Yes, mx player is nice... Screen casting is a bit of luggy between voice and picture while watching a movie
Hey Xda community,
I can not find a working YouTube downloader application. I've scoured the web. I've been through countless searches of 'best Youtube downloader app's for android' articles. Not one works.
There's got to be one that works out there somewhere and I figure Xda is the absolute best place to ask.
Has anyone found a working downloader app? Maybe a browser extension or add on? Would love to hear...
I'm using a cheaper Samsung with no root possibilities running android Q
Thank you
Yes, it is a little bit difficult to find a working youtube video downloader for a mobile phone. Maybe you can use your computer to download YouTube videos instead.
There are a couple online ones that work for free.
Here's one:
YouTube to Mp3 Music Converter - YTMP3
YTMP3 is free YouTube to mp3 converter. It helps you convert and download youtube videos to mp3 or mp4 files for free. YTMP3 is the best Youtube mp3 downloader.
ytmp3.cc
You can use arktube, download it from browser then buy lisence from play store or just use the free version
Here's another free one:
MPG to MP4 Converter: Convert MPG Video to MP4 Video (Free)
Convert your MPG files to MP4 video.
www.onlineconverter.com
I recommend MiniTool uTube Downloader in this regard. It's 100% free and easy to use.
In youtube app, i believe there is a button to download the video to play it locally on youtube app, unless you want to download it as mp4

Good to hear that, and thank you very much for your clarification. It doesn't come to everyone, and I believe this feature is geo-restricted.
