When I click Youtube links from the web, they play in HTC Flash Player. Seems to be a different app than the Youtube app. It's lower quality than even normal quality in the Youtube app and I frequently get sync issues.
Is there a way to make a Youtube link open in the Youtube app instead?

You should have an option to choose the htc flash player and the youtube app
try clearing the defaults on the HTC flash player.

to my amazement there doesn't seem to be anythign on stock that allows me to play video - other than - i'm guessing the gallery for video i've recorded myself.
seriously?
Nexus is pure google experience, so it assume you to use youtube
there are tons of free apps, the best one is MoboPlayer
The gallery app does scan for videos stored in your SD, I guess you are just meant to play videos using the gallery app. Sounds counter intuitive I know. But keep in mind it supports very limited number of formats, which I know of only mp4 and 3gp. To play other formats, install a video player from the market as suggested.

Hi guys
I noticed that last night's last YouTube update (2.3.4) changed the app behavior. Before this update i was able to play a song clip, close the screen display and listen to the song. Now, when you close the screen display, the clip pauses. This feels stupid to me. Do we have alternatives or any way to rollback & cancel future updates?
Thanks

Currently my workaround is to use YouTube website...

Tubemate is awesome and it allows to record videos directly to your phone as well as audio record I highly recommend it plus it allows use of all YouTube features .
just uninstall the update....settings - applications.
Hi guys
I completely uninstalled YouTube app using TB and I'm using a YouTube bookmark to launch it on my browser. It works fine. I think this app is redundant.
I did install TubeMate to be able to save videos and mp3s from YouTube, but to play it is just launching your browser...

So, I can surf the web, open YouTube, etc..however, when I click on a video to play, it gives me a 'connection error' message all the time.
What could be wrong ? I'm using the ARHD 6.6.7 ROM.
your internet connection could be bad...
did you install adobe flash player?
also, why not play youtube videos from the youtube app?
This is the youtube app I'm using.
Internet connection is good.

Hello, are there any alternative YouTube apps that anyone could recommend? The most important functionality I'm looking for is the ability to play mobile-restricted, age-restricted and site-restricted ("This video contains content from xxx. It is restricted from playback on certain sites") videos. Optionally, I'd like the app to allow me to:
play audio only
watch videos on 60fps (I know that Google app allows it but some other apps I've tried don't)
either use my Google/Youtube account or save videos in other ways (playlists)

Hey Xda community,
I can not find a working YouTube downloader application. I've scoured the web. I've been through countless searches of 'best Youtube downloader app's for android' articles. Not one works.
There's got to be one that works out there somewhere and I figure Xda is the absolute best place to ask.
Has anyone found a working downloader app? Maybe a browser extension or add on? Would love to hear...
I'm using a cheaper Samsung with no root possibilities running android Q
Thank you
Yes, it is a little bit difficult to find a working youtube video downloader for a mobile phone. Maybe you can use your computer to download YouTube videos instead.
There are a couple online ones that work for free.
Here's one:
YouTube to Mp3 Music Converter - YTMP3
YTMP3 is free YouTube to mp3 converter. It helps you convert and download youtube videos to mp3 or mp4 files for free. YTMP3 is the best Youtube mp3 downloader.
ytmp3.cc
You can use arktube, download it from browser then buy lisence from play store or just use the free version
Here's another free one:
MPG to MP4 Converter: Convert MPG Video to MP4 Video (Free)
Convert your MPG files to MP4 video.
www.onlineconverter.com
I recommend MiniTool uTube Downloader in this regard. It's 100% free and easy to use.
In youtube app, i believe there is a button to download the video to play it locally on youtube app, unless you want to download it as mp4

Good to hear that, and thank you very much for your clarification. It doesn't come to everyone, and I believe this feature is geo-restricted.
