I have the UK model. I have it for three days in the USA and I use the AT&T sim card. It connects on EDGE and it is not a 3g phone in the USA. I use WIFI for my internet.
My question is: How can I get the phone to stop looking for a GPRS connection and giving me the error screen? I understand there is a loop of connectivity GPRS => EDGE => 3g and when 3g is not compatible it connects on edge.
Ok fine. But how can I get rid of that GPRS connection error screen?
The phone is like WOW! Get one. I will get a Verizon MIFI for Christmas from my wife.

I just got a samsung I780 and flashed the i780MSHC3 rom, today i got a att pda plan. However, I can't use i780 to connect att's 3g network, always in gsm/gprs....... (using in LA, 3G definitely covered)
Is there anybody having the same problem, or could somebody give me some advice (already called att, but not worked out)

What phone rom are you using ?
If is an old one, try with the italian one.

The phone does not have 850/1900, only 2100. How do you plan on using AT&T's 3G network without 1900?
Changing the ROM will not give your phone the ability to now utilize AT&T's 3G network.
The weird thing is it won't even connect edge..........
but when insert t-mobile(us)'s card... it at least connected to edge....
and when i "roaming", i can connect to edge network, but with att, without roam, can only connect to gprs........
dats so sucks...
Just whether why some rom will make the i780 has tri-band 3g function

Sorry to revive an old thread...I can't connect to AT&T's 3G either (I live in Chicago). The band selection on my phone, though, is
1)900/1800
2)1900
3)WCDMA (phone doesn't connect to anything with this selected)
4)Automatic
PDA ROM is DXHE1
Phone ROM is PUHE1
Am I an idiot for buying this phone (I would need 850 instead of 900 on this bad boy?) or am I just not using the right settings?

Unless I'm mistaken it's a hardware issue, no amount of ram flashing will get past the the fact that your phone will not broadcast on the right band...
Hi i have a htc touch pro, i purchased the phone separately, and now i am with a cell phone provider and recently i purchased the data plan, whenever i go on the internet it says using EDGE not 3G? i was wondering in my country there is 3g as well so thats not the problem, is there anyway to switch from edge to 3g, or is there something else wrong,

some companys require one to actively sign up for 3g but most cases
if the phone show 3g or h it got 3g or 3½g
if it only show e or g it's bacuse it only recieve those signals
Or look into the Phone settings-Band ,if you have not selected GSM only.

Is it possible to force data roaming to pick up an ATT 3g signal? I have Tmo but only edge where I live, and for $30/month data edge just isn't going to cut it!
I have messed around with "service mode" to select a specific band frequency, but I either get edge or no service at all.
On a side note, my sgs4g is unlocked and I was able to get 3g when using a straighttalk sim (again ATT signal). Is it possible to get connected when using a Tmo sim?
This could save me a HEFTY E.T.F. .... :/

I got a Tmobile sensation and I m using in Peru, for some reason the network line is in EDGE, or 2g it is the way we can change, the sim card work in 4g in another phone, some body can help me.
check your network settings and see if your running tmobile. maybe att?

I got my Mate 7 (LT-09, european version, 2gb black version, stock 4.4) about a month ago. I'm from Czech republic, so at first I thought that it can't connect to 4G just because of low 4G signal. However, I study in Edinburgh where the 4G signal should be good (my friends connect to it with no problem), but my phone still doesn't connect to 4G. I have a 4G sim card, 4G giffgaff (virtual O2 operator) goodybag, so everything should be working. But, I can only connect to H+.
Also, when I try to register to a network, I can see three options - O2 2G, O2 3G, and O2 4G, however, when I click on the O2 4G, I get an error message saying "couldn't connect to the network, choose automaticaly?"
Does anyone have a similar issue? I'm really getting desperate.

sometimes u got to set the right apn.i got ultra mobile with t mobile net work.the apn that the sim card has is only for 3g or h+.i got to maually set the apn ,after that i got 4g lte all the time

Thank you for your anwer! I had the right settings (at least I think so), but I was so desperate that I upgraded to android 5.1.1. There it didn't work as well, but after I updated the apn I got 4G! So it was probably just bad APN settings. Thank you so much, didn't realize that could be a problem.
what apn did you use , i have fast.t-mobile.com, all i get is 3g or H+ i already set it to WCDMA only for preferred network type
I used the settings from giffgaff.com website, so I suppose you should get yours at your regional t-mobile website. Just make sure that you're using the correct one, as there can be defferent apn settings for 3g and 4g (that's what happened to me, and that's why I didn't realise it was an apn problem). Hope this helps.
