[Q] Force Roaming on ATT (from Tmo)? - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

Hi All,
Is it possible to force data roaming to pick up an ATT 3g signal? I have Tmo but only edge where I live, and for $30/month data edge just isn't going to cut it!
I have messed around with "service mode" to select a specific band frequency, but I either get edge or no service at all.
On a side note, my sgs4g is unlocked and I was able to get 3g when using a straighttalk sim (again ATT signal). Is it possible to get connected when using a Tmo sim?
This could save me a HEFTY E.T.F. .... :/

Not sure or it's possible, but my suggestion is that you flash modems from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192436, lemme know if anything.

edge and HSPA+ connection auto-swtich problem w/ at&t

Hi there, IDK if this is just me or not. I live in Rochester NY which is covered by HSPA+. I purchased lumia800 unlocked on amazon and it works fine for both data and MSG without setting APN. The problem is whenever there is a bad reception and the data dropped to Edge, it won't reconnect back HSPA+ automatically when reception comes back. I have to go to cellular settings and switch to edge then switch back manually.....So, any suggestion?

This won't help you, but you're lucky having the switch in cellular settings. My Titan doesn't have one. It would help me at work where the HSPA+ signal is marginal at best. Edge would allow me to get and make phone calls without having to run outside the building.
Ugh, AT&T is *still* hiding that option on their branded phones? Idiots... It's nothing but a registry tweak to re-enable it, but nobody has figured out how to do registry modifications on the Titan yet.

*Compairson* One S On AT&T vs T-Mobile - Network Flopping

I thought I would bring this up.
I have the T-Mobile US One S carrier unlocked and I have used it both on ATT and Tmobile.
With all the network flopping going on I noticed something between the two. When i use the phone on ATT, I rarely see 3G. It's always H. And the speeds reflect that.
When I use the phone on T-Mobile, it's always on 3G. I only see the H when the phone needs to do something data intensive. For instance, I start a speed test.. It will start 3G and flop to H for the test. I can sit with the screen on playing around with the phone and it will not switch H at all. I am in a good 4G coverage area.
I know many users are looking for a update to fix the flopping. However, to me it seems more like a power management thing and perhaps on Tmobile's network side.
Just a thought.
I was wondering if you've been able to use AT&T's network with your T-Mobile sim? I haven't, but I thought the Roaming agreement was all set. Am I wrong?

According to the coverage maps, postpaid and prepaid are identical. However, I have seen this as well. I can have full ATT coverage and zero T-Mobile coverage.

That gsm setting is only edge on vzw phone, no highspeed data. It may be possible to get high-speed data though, what carrier is the sim from straight talk on?

OK...that might be a problem. As I said with gsm its only edge. The LTE on at&t vs vzw uses a different frequency AFAIK. There is a possibility of getting 3g connectivity. There is a thread where someone got 3g on T-Mobile with a vzw gs3, I'll drop a link, might be a good starting point.

Using Verizon's S6 on Tmobile's network

Hi all, has anyone here tried or been successful in getting the data or lte over voice calls with Verizon's S6 using Tmobile? I have Tmobile and trying to use my gf's unlocked Verizon Galaxy S6. Almost everything works fine except that while on voice call, the signal drops to 1x and I can not simultaneously use data or receive mms. Are there any fixes for this? Any help would be appreciated as she is planning to switch from Verizon to Tmobile and I would love to just reuse the phone on Tmobile.
PS: Sorry not sure if this should be in a carrier specific thread. If so, not sure which one to choose since it sort of dual carrier concern

Try going to Settings > Mobile Networks > Network Mode and change it to LTE / GSM / UMTS and see if that helps.
