After upgrade WM 6, data still lost if battery drain - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 Software Upgrading

Guys,
I have upgrade to latest WM 6 in cotulla's page and using HTCMAG_ROM_WWE_O4
But when my Magician's battery drain, all data is lost and is just like being hard reset again...
Is this natural? I mean, when we are using WM 6.x we will have the persistent storage, right?
Or perhaps, I have done wrong in upgrading? missing some steps?
Help, anybody....

The magician don't have persistent storage. The storage of the magician needs electricity to save information (RAM), newer smartphones have flash-storage.
You need a hardware upgrade to prevent losing data, even with WM6

yeah, thats y magician have backup battery while newer devices dont..

Differences between O2 and imate units?

Hello, I have had an O2 XDA II for a year now. My company has just supplied me with the i-Mate equivalent (MDA III ???) , anyhow, I have noticed a couple of differences and would like to know what other there are...
the i-mate has th US version of the ROM installed, not the WWE .
It does not seem to have an extended rom,. or the extra 16M of 'storage' that the XDA II had, is this right??? I thought the two units were physically identical inside. Does this mean I will now have to install my programs into the normal Ram, I used ot put them into 'storage' to save my memory.
When the units are hard reset, they run an automatic program to set them up, I cancel this by pressing the reset button. I know the XDA II setup configures the unit with all of O2's software and icons etc. What does the imate version of the setup install?? I would like to know if there is anything useful in there.
THe setup program must be stored somewhere?? This I would asume to be the extended rom area as mentioned abvoe but I cannot seem to get the EXTrom tools to work any ideas??
Are there any other differences I should be aware of.
Thanks very much
Also, I have noticed that the Bluetooth icon is missing form the system tray, I used to use this quite a lot to turn the BT on and off, is there any way I can get it back??
Currently the only way to get to the BT is via settings, connections.

s100 freezes

Since a week my s100 freezes on the weirdest moments, like when i want to make a call, it freezes, when i want to open a message it freezes, when i'm in the menu, it freezes.
Now I tried three different upgrades, but the problem keeps coming back :?.. Is there a way to format the whole hard disk and reinstal everything (just like my pc  )
I called with Qtek Netherlands, but they told me this problem is not on the guarantee because i could have used the wrong upgrades.. And its not very cheap to let them make my mda so maybe someone could help me with this so I dont have to send the phone to Qtek for repair, and save a lot of money  :?:

I had the same trouble in my S110 after making bigstorage ROM. I tried different methods to cteate it, but it didn't help. My S110 frose for about 15-30 sec. in different cases, most reciently in different settings and menus. The only way I've found to solve this problem was to upgrade device with native qtek s110 rom.
Are you installing programs after updating the ROM? In that case, you most likely are running some bad software.
After a hard reset/ROM update, try running your device for a few days without installing new programs.
No, i don't install programs. But yesterday i discovered when i dont insert my sim-card, the s100 is working much better, but it still freezes al the time. Like when I insert my simcard it takes about 1 minute before it freezes, when i dont use my simcard, the s100 is faster, but it still freezes after about 5 minutes. But the freezing dont stop until I do a soft reset .. Is there a solution ?
Sounds to me like you have a hardware problem. Reinstall the original ROM and take it in for service.
My xda 2 mini
almost the same problem with my xda ii mini but i noticed a thing my phone works perfectly allright when on an external power supply but as soon as it runs on battery and the battery level drops to about 90 % it keeps on freezing...does this imply that there is a battery problem or something else?... :?

Please help us solve this one!!
I don't think 16MB of free program memory is very much...
Whenever I am experiencing any inconsistancy with my PDA, Smartphone or whatever, a hard reset is always one of my first moves. That way I have a rather good chance of finding out, if I have a soft- or hardware problem.
As I said, hard reset and run it for a few days without installing any third party software, then you will know.
Guess I'll have to try that option then, but I was hoping for another solution that didnt include just running with the default programs
So you think that it might be too little memory free? What about if I apply the big storage "tweak" then (it looks like a pain in the arse to do it though) and then allocate more memory to Programs?
problem identified
Well I took my mini to the local o2 repair center they at first told me a mere software upgrade will solve this thing so I was kind of delighted. But then they called me up and told me its a circuit problem and the circuit needs to be replaced and it will cost me 70%of the phones price. My phone was under warranty still I didnt want to mess around with the circuit thing so I took it to my dealer with a friend of mine created a scene and he had to change it for me.... now my new o2 doesnt have this problem at all....

I'm not getting why they first wanted to charge you, given it is under warranty??
Bastards!
I'll give Brightpoint a ring today and see what they have to say. And I agree, it should be under warranty.
Yes it was under warranty but my imei no was missing from there records and they were not ready to acknowledge my bill as I didnt buy it from an authorised o2 dealer....
@montana
Doing the big storage tweak won't give you more RAM to run your programs. Instead it gives you more space on /Storage to store your programs, which is an entirely different thing. RAM is what we want, and can't get enough of.
Only way to get more RAM is to make sure you install as many programs as possible on either the internal /Storage (yes, the 'Big Storage' thing) or on your /Storage Card, ie SD Card. If that isn't enough for you, try checking this forum for info on how to stop the Extended ROM from installing after a hard reset, and how to manually install only the parts of it you need.
@sankalp16
Great to hear! Well, as long as you have an official invoice, I don't think it matters where you got it from. Congratulations!
Just a quick Update:
I talked to BP and they finally decided to get me a new one, took a while and a lot of persuation though....
Anyways, a few days before I was supposed to change it, I think I uninstalled QOTD--Qoute of Today and it suddenly ran like a kitten again, Im not sure it was this app that caused it so I still got the new one

Polaris WM6.1 and WM 2003???

Hi guys,
I know its kind a stupid to ask this, but couldnt find anything on net regarding this.
I have prior experience with Windows mobile 2003. When the battery is flat, the phone will be reset to factory default.
I would like to know if the touch cruise with Window Mobile 6 will have the same problem when the phone ran out of battery juice. If it dosent reset, how long can it last with dead battery without the risk of resetting to default settings?
I appreciate all your kind feedbacks and insights on this.
It won't hard reset on you when the battery dies... but how long can it last in this state? Good question... once I had it 8 hours continously turned off and my data was still there...
Does your installed softwares still there after the 8 hours?
Although with Wm2003SE and earlier, a pocketPC will loose all memory contents (RAM powered by the main battery), since WM2005, Flash memory is used and the device will no more hard reset even if it has been on low battery for few days or months (unless main memory corruption, by unstable programs).

Upgrading an HTC Tilt (Kaiser)

I was wondering what efficient ways there are to upgrading my Tilt's speed?
I'm currently running WM 6.1, with a 3.57 ROM and a 1.65.21.18 Radio
Any help would greatly be appreciated

The less apps you have installed the fastest (installed on storage card of course), also keeping music, video and pics on storage card.
Making your borwser´s default temp, & cache files on storage also
Hope it helped,
Yeah, I went through the basic tinkers of deleting temp files, and my phone's main storage is pretty much void of any trial/useless apps.
One of my main annoyances is the fact that ActiveSync runs in the background every-so-often, even when it isn't connected to my computer. This process definitely slows my phone, so is there any way to block Activesync from starting while it's unplugged from the computer?

The best way to get a stock tilt to run faster is to eliminate all the AT$T bloatware. This frees up about 14 Mbs of internal storage and increases the boot speed and overall speed.
Back up all your data and do a hard reset, go through all the screen align and skip file moving practice and password , When you get to the Tap screen to set up device, insert stylus into soft reset hole and get ready. Tap screen and immediately do a soft reset. If you see the customizations in three seconds screen it is too late and you will have to do it all over.
This gets rid of all the AT$T added crapware and really speeds your phone. Like mentioned above, keep things in your internal memory to a minimum.
And then of course there is always custom roms......................
I would also suggest to get a different tweaked ROM.. but you'll have to start experimenting until you reach the best results.

will hard reset erase wm6.1

if i hard reset my treo 750 ...that already has the upgraded WM6.1..will it erase the WM6.1 and restore it back to WM5 that it originally came with?
Oh it definitely will not erase your WM6.1 upgrade, only personal data, so rest assured WM6.1 is there to stay. The only way you would erase WM6.1 is if you flash another ROM, naturally.
I myself have hard reset many times one after the other (to test program compatibility with this Chinese ROM I'm using) and WM6.1 has returned to life again and again. There has got to be a limit as to how much your device will appreciate continuous Hard Resets in a row, though. I relate Hard Resets similar to formatting a memory card, there's always consideration for how many file deletions flash memory can take.
thanks,
ive been having problems with my treo 'auto soft resetting' and i think for last resort im going to have to do the hard reset..and cross my fingers!
Do you know if I have my Treo ported to Metropcs and I hard reset....will I lose my settings?
