as mentionend by users in other threads, it seems that a high number of raphs have a draining battery issue - compareable to the bug in our kaisers about a year ago: batterystatus measures around 70/80 mA in sleepmode with all programs and tf3d closed - on a kaiser with custom rom was around 4mA (!!).
So please, dear chefs: Try to figure out how we can fix this one

Update: Battery was sucked empty from 90% within 3-4 hours in the night (!!). No running programs. In the chart you can see the difference between loading with the 220V plug and the USB-cable (last part of the chart). Sometimes it looks as the device sucks more power than the usb loader can deliver -> battery will get empty even when plugged into the computer the whole day.
Looks as we really need a solution thus waiting for htc or cellproviders is useless :-(

Can you check this? Start->Settings->System->Power. Make sure that the "When device is turned on, do not charge the battery when connected to the PC" is unchecked.

Of course it is unchecked - but thanks for the hint!
I still need to get over the shock that it took just 3-4h to ground the battery in standby without running programs oO
for me it helped a lot to improve battery life to set the setting 18.4 (energy saving) in diamond tweak...

I need to compare the tweaks but i enabled energysaving options with Advanced Config... - but I will give diamond tweak a try and even do a hardreset in order exclude 3rd party software for the power consumption...

im having battery issues, too.
sometimes the phone gets unresponsive, really hot and battery drops 30-40% in ~1h minutes - without being used.
i love my touch pro, but ive got so many problems (crashes, hang ups, battery, broken screen thing, grey display with stripes, the list goes on and on...) that im considering to return it
So... small update of my findings:
My Raph(s):

The power consumption usually never falls below 75mA. It goes up to usually 240mA, 700mA yes sometimes 1100mA. (Again: in standby!)
Comparison: on the kaiser it was around 4-12mA with Teijaks V5.
The following changes WONT affect this problem:
o disabling TF3D
o switching to GSM/GPRS only
o switching off persistent internet connection (e.g. exchange server) (!!!)
o kicking ALL not absolutely necessary backgroud processes step by step and measure between
Naively i thought that someone may be interested in that behaviour and called my provider t-mobile... ok, bad idea as they seem to have none knowledge about that devices at all.
But at least I got a number of their hardware-supporter / servicemen "Kapsch" who couldnt help me either but where kindly enough to pass me a number of HTC here in Europe.
The nice lady with basic knowledge about the devices as well as the language we were talking in came to the conclusion that the only solution would be to send the devices in via my provider.
Well, so they believe that exactly theese 3 raphaels here are the only ones to suffer from that power drain (hardresettet, blank installation, bla bla like above)... and sending them in (what means: dont see them again for a month or so and get them back in the same condition) would be THE solution.
Somehow i am pissed that i already sold the kaisers and wonder how it will be next week on a businesstravel with an unpowered TomTom outside the car and a phone which drains in a few hours in standby

Completely agree with some of your figures, however the highest i have ever seen is around 550mA. Usually after no data transfer i get it to drop to between 89 ~ 110mA. How are you measuring standby current? When in standby, how can the software measure the current? I only ask as like you, the lowest i have seen for current is 82mA, however this figure would give a max standbytime of around 16 hours. I have found that the TP in standby performs the same if not better then my old kaiser which, like you measured around 4mA in standby. From what i have seen, i can not measure a true standby current like i could on the kaiser.

Measuring a "real" standby without changing the battery with an Ampere/Voltmeter is not easily possible i think... so i use CommMgrPro and accept its own usage as somekind of "Baseline".
Or - if you dont need a chart / history, i use the much smaller Batterystatus, disable TF3d to see the Homeplug and close all applications. With all apps closed i turn of the device, wait a minute or to be sure that it has gone sleeping, and wake it up. A few seconds after turning on the mW/mA measures will jump to the "standby" values due to its delay. Not 100% accurate but okay for comparison reasons...

OK, this i could do on the kaiser, but not on the touch pro. Each time i turn the phone on, i see at least 82mA, which would only give a stnadby of 16 hours - but i can achieve 3 days, so clearly this is not the standby current.
3 days.. i can only dream of that That would mean that you got around 19mA drain in standby... how do u measure?

Thats what i'm trying to say - i cant measure anything below 80mA when i turn the TP on, however it is obviously NOT the standby current as i can obtain 50mA with a dim backlight, plus get 3 days standby. When i state 3 days, thats with no usage!
I'm just trying to point out that what you think is the standby current, probably isn't and we all know that there are issues with the battery management on this phone.
Another example, i have had my phone of charge since 7am, made a couple of short calls, 5 mins of wap browsing, and its currently reporting 95%. If my standby current was 80mA, it would be down to 50% by now. However, assuming i continue to use the phone in this way, in theory i should get 160 hours, which indicates an average drain of 8mA.
I agree - of course you are right and measuring this way can - if anyhow - assist in relatively comparing two devices/ configs but not deliver absolut values of course.
With batterystatus it worked pretty well on the kaiser - and even on the raph i could see 3 or 4 times my beloved 4mA... but in 99% its around 80aH ind standby and around 300-400 in usage which seems plausible regarding my usage.
Nevertheless i had several times a "hardcore" drain where i must had (mathematically) around 400 during standby and maybe even more during worktime when plugged in via USB: It DISCHARGED what means that it used more power than USB could deliver
(usb charging settings correct)
If I dont get my callback from my provider today, then i will try an inofficial RadioRom this weekend...
In standby mode, all application should have been paused by the deviced, right? Then how can any application measure the power usage in standby mode?

That is because the OS send out events when something happens, thus waking up the device and letting the apps run.
For SMS, sim card receive message, sim card inform OS, OS wakes device up, OS send out events, app capture the events.
For alarms, OS wakes device up when the schedule reached, then send out events or start apps depending on the alarm.
So, device must wakes up before apps can do anything.
Some apps intercept the standby button (power button) and instead of letting the device goes to standby when pressed, just turns off the display. For TP, HTC has modified something (or loaded some apps) to make sure that when you are playing the music or listening to the radio, the power button just turn off the display instead of going to standby mode. If the device goes to standby mode, the device could never play any music.
So, if the battery benchmarking app you are using is able to measure the power consumption when the device goes to standby, I doubt it. It actually just turn off the display.
I seem to have fixed or at least drastically improved my battery. I was suffering major drainage with moderate to heavy use, after about 5 hours the power would go down from 100% to 10%. I have WiFi on permanently and do a lot of emailing and texting.
I drained the battery to 0% and with the phone off (not in standby) I charged it using the AC adaptor. With it fully charged and the button light on (glows when charging, solid on when charged) I turned the phone on and first time it said 88% charged?!?! But it lasted the whole day and even had a good 30+% left at the end.
Did it again, ran loads of apps and switched everything on until 0% battery. Charged over night with the phone off. Next day it said it had 95% charge when I switched it on and again it lasted all day with quite heavy usage.
Discharged it again that night and plugged it in, today it says 100% and I'm pretty sure it will last even longer.
I've also found that after doing this, if I don't use the phone and the screen is off, I can leave it for 4 hours and the battery percentage doesn't even go down 1%.... which is a bit unbelievable but happens.
PLeased to say, now this last gripe seems to be fixed..... this is by far the best smartphone I've owned or used and on the market. Great step up from the TYTN II and iPhone (nice toy but useless for email and destructive with exchange servers).

True. Draining the battery completely really helps. I've done it about 3 times and now my device can reach 2 days of heavy use with 1 charge. When I bought it drained very fast and charge indications were way of. (1 hour charges would just increase charge level with 5-10%).
What also adds battery life ia disabling activesync in the notification queue. Use memmaid or a similar program. Go to the notification queue and disable the entry for repplog.exe with the comment "system time changed". Activesync will function normally when connected to a PC. Not sure about OTA exchange syncs though...

I've found that the Raphael battery stops charging when it gets warmer than 48 degrees Celsius. I discovered this because I am using WMWifiRouter all day at the office, and noticed that although I have the Raph connected to a 2000mA wall charger, the battery drained and device got down to 10%.
The trick is that I have to put the device in "standby" mode py pressing the power button. The screen goes off, but the device is still running. This resulted in a lower device / battery temperature, and the battery remained at 100% after 8 hours of usage with WMWifiRouter and connected to the wall charger.
I can contrast this to with my Kaiser, which didn't stop chraging the battery until about 65 degrees Celsius!!

I had this problem once when I first got my captivate, but then it went to normal (lose ~5% overnight). Overnight I keep wifi connected and airplane mode off. I was happy, lasted 10-15 hours daytime depending on how heavy I used it, etc.
I recently ordered a two spare batteries with an extra micro usb cord as well as an external battery charger (charges batteries while not inside the captivate). I use the new microusb cord to charge sometimes too because for some reason it doesn't work with PC to connect micro sd card, and I charge my batteries mostly using the external charger.
I recently started losing 30+% overnight. I don't know when exactly (if it were apps or the new batteries, but it happens with my old battery and the new ones). I installed spareparts and battery history and tried turning off background data but I still lose this much overnight. I don't really know how to read spareparts to try to isolate an app. My daytime battery life is not drastically lower than before (10+ hours), but I think it is a bit lower than before. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
tl;dr:

- got new batteries, now use external charger

I personally lose more than that overnight when I have wifi enabled. However when I have it off I lose less than 5%. So I guess I'm in the opposite situation as you.
Since you already have spare parts installed and used to have better life the only thing I can suggest is recalibrating http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765656. Sorry if you have already done this before. It's just that when you pull the battery and switch it I'm assuming the battery stats file may not adjust accordingly. It's worth a shot.

As for losing more than 30%-40% overnight with wifi enabled, there has got to be some lingering issue on your phone if it is losing that much. I don't think any phone, no matter how bad the battery life it has, should lose that much overnight, granted that you don't have a TON of data intensive activities running on your phone.

I get 36-48 hours in between charges on my phone.
Wifi is always on, sync is always on, no live wallpaper, weather and email updates every hour. I'm not on it every minute of every day but enough use for sure.
over night I lose about 5% on average.
Calibrate your battery...but you can't change batteries or you need to calibrate all over again.

As I posted in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=829285, I did a factory reset and my phone seemed to be working fine as it slept when the screen was off (checked by using *#*#4696#*#*). It was good until approximately 50% when all of a sudden I checked and it wasn't sleeping once again. Checking the partial wakelock "Android System" was taking up an increasing larger amount of this section. I didn't do anything on my phone as I was sleeping and periodically, when I'd wake up, I'd check on my phone status. When I reboot the phone once this happens, it sleeps once again.
Keep in mind, my phone is stock. Didn't install any apps or anything at all since the factory reset. Now I'm not sure if I have a defective phone. Maybe the Android OS is set up to run like this? There's no such thing as a defective OS is there? Can't be anything on my end because I didn't touch the phone nor did I install any bad apps (or any apps at all for that matter). Can it be a battery issue? I can't see how a bad battery can cause the phone not to sleep. Is there something in the Android OS that turns on automatically after a while that may be causing it?
I'll try to recalibrate my battery but I don't know how that would alter if my phone sleeps or not, but I'm willing to try. I'd rather not take this phone back and get another one as that's a hassle.

IE, sit the phone down with a weak att signal and walk away. It'll die on its own unless you airplane mode it within half a day.
I have to religiously turn the phone on airplane and switch to wireless at home, and turn to airplane and turn wireless off at work (can't connect to work VPN with 2.1 !)
If I leave it on full in either location, it's bloody dead next time I touch it.
However, with good home wifi, I can actually get 4 days of email checking, use as alarm clocks, some other sms stuff without plugging in.
This things is helaciously sensitive to wonky radio connections.
hmmm. I guess I'll try it with wifi on tonight. I don't think recalibrating would cause it to have a 10x difference in idle battery usage, but I'll try that if all else fails
I use Setting Profiles app and have it set wireless to Airplane mode from midnight to 6am. Still, I'm finding my battery down by 30-50% at night.
Looking at Battery Usage, my Display, Cell Standby and Phone Idle we all using the majority of the battery power. I'm not sure if these numbers are reset after the phone comes off the charger or how it is calculated.
I just turned off wifi altogether and have seen huge improvements. I don't even use it anymore despite being in my house with a wireless connection. Data usage isn't that much slower so not much of a loss. At least it can sleep.
i only get like 24 hours on my phone :/

It's not just this phone. My wife's iPhone does the same thing, as did my Q9H. The constant switching from 3G to Edge will kill a battery.

I am usually just a silent observer on the boards and try and gain knowledge from all these amazing developers but my experience last night has pushed me to vent. I live Atlanta, and a Vendor had offered us some suite tickets to the Falcons Ravens game. Of course I would take those. Knowing this phone does not get the best battery life, I made sure to have the phone fully charged before I departed. I left the office at 5pm with a full charge. Throughout the night I would send a txt here and there and take a photo, nothing too strenuous I thought. As the game was coming to an end I looked down and saw that the phone was already in the yellow, not terrible since it should last me till I get to the car. I’m not thrilled because this means the phone charge has only lasted 6 hrs. I get off the mass transit station and go for my car key…..and it’s not there. I check all my pockets to find nothing. I am now screwed. No car, no phone, no charger. To cut the story short, I had to find a payphone (needle in a haystack) and call collect to my father, who has the only spare key. Needless to say he was not too please coming down at 2 am to get me out of the jam. I am just so furious that the phone died so quickly on me. It seems if I ever go out at night, if I’m not near a charger, that phone is dead within hours. Sorry for the rant, but its just the one major flaw about this phone. My old Tilt would last a couple days ( I know I know, small screen low processor) But a solid day out of these phones would be nice.
Do you manage the battery consumption by turning off unneeded features such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi? Have you set the screen timeout to a few seconds of idle time? The display is the biggest consumer of battery power. Finally, when I know I'll be away from a power source for more than 6 hours, I put a fully charged spare battery in my pocket.
FYI the Galaxy S has one of the best batteries for a smart phone. With careful use and battery management, I routinely get 16 hours before a yellow warning.
I had much of your same problem in the first few weeks of having the captivate, prompting me to go buy two extra batteries and a charger off ebay ($10). I feel that upgrading to cognition 2.2 and using the task manager to stop facebook and such from always updating has saved a lot of life, and my phone will last a day to a day and a half on a single charge, so long as I put it into flight mode at night. then I just shut the phone down, switch out batteries, and turn it back on.
I have the screen set at the lowest possible brightness (11%). When i am out i never have bluetooth or wifi on. Perhpas there was a runaway app that was draining the battery. I have never gotten 16 hrs though. My max is about 12, and thats if i dont make any phone calls. You start making calls, it just kills the battery life on my phone. I did use to have a spare battery on my tilt, i might have to do the same with this phone.
It's most likely because your phone is not sleeping when the screen is off.
Download the "Spare Parts" app or just enter *#*#4696#*#* in your dialer and check out the "Battery History". If the Running % is almost full (around 80%-100%) during a day's use, your phone isn't sleeping when the screen is off which means battery is draining. Give it a reboot when that happens, but the known cause I've found was that WiFi causes this issue.
Are you sure you weren't losing signal when you were in the arena? When you lose signal the phone constantly searches for a signal causing your battery you drain.
I know in arenas you don't get a strong signal...

I have a great battery life. Especially when not using HSUPA. Try deleting your battery stats.
I typically see 12 to15% per hour drain with constant use.... meaning display is on all the time and I am on internet, phone laying idle overnight... 1%/hr tops. I do have a nice signal at home though... ranges from –70 to –85 so the modem is not working hard at all.

Im new in Dc area, switch from Dx and here are problems i got almost from start.
So my question after i explain everything is should i repalce my DC or look for more solutions on forums, and thank you for any help.
Here are the problems i run on:
Im on unlimited voice/data/hot spot plan, after walking out of store, playing some time with Dc i noticed my data serive would drop and no connectivity to net, had to toggle of/on data switch, or reboot phone to start work.
Second proble i noticed was batter life, Dc was hooked up all day do car mount with charger pluged in, and at the end of day battery wasnt eeven charge fully, and after shutting down phone and putting asaide for few hours, battery was almost dead.
Third annynoing thing is, phone was by itself redialing same number over and over until i did batter pull.
And some other minor issues.
Same things happend when was on stock or running leaked Gb from MDW.

I've never had the issues you are refering to. My data drops sometimes, but has never required a reboot to come back on, it usually comes back in a few seconds.
As for the battery draining while charging, was it in use all day? playing music, navigating, screen on. Was it hot? battery will not charge if it is too hot, its a safety feature as Li-ion batteries are a run-away exothermic melt down if they ignite.
Dialing the same number over and over, I've never heard of such a thing.
If it was me I would try and get it replaced.
Stock 2.3.6 with no changes to or updates in settings or installed software and I have been taking pretty good care of the battery in a 5 ½ month old Atrix 2 directly from Motorola and not previously used.
Several days ago battery drain when in standby when from approximately 0.5% per hour to 2.5 to 3% per hour. I did the following, although not necessarily in the order listed:
Bench tested battery at a battery shop – no problem found.
Verified settings and software. Cannot find anything that appears to be draining power, initiating communications, etc.
Pulled battery.
Hard data reset and tested drain rate with no additional software and had same problem as when normal software was installed.
Several deep cycles from 3% or less to full charge. In all cases mV appear in normal range of about 3542 mV at 3% to 4347 mV at 100%, again per Circle Battery Widget.
Broke down and called Motorola and although they tried to be more helpful than normal, the only suggestion that they could offer was to try another battery, which I do not currently possess and AT&T would not allow a short term lending even had they had one available.
99% of all charging is via stock wall charger, spot use of car adapter with appropriate specs when using GPS.
Typically recharge starting in range of 5-15% and charge to 100% as indicated by Circle Battery Widget.
Battery usage in standby shows about an even split between Cell Standby, Phone Idle and Bluetooth each about 32% of usage when in standby. Have always left Bluetooth on 24/7 except when charging and battery drain was only about 0.5% per hour. I even tested for several hours with bluetooth off and this did not affect the rapid drain.
Contacts are clean.
I even use Motorola USB cables both from my PC for data transfer and also with the wall charger.
No exposure to excessive heat/cold.
If anyone has any thoughts, I would greatly appreciate any help. Otherwise my next steps are to call Motorola back Sunday morning (U.S. time zones) and probably order an OEM battery from a reputable source allowing for U.S. holiday on Monday. Unsure how Motorola will treat this as warranty since 1) this phone is a replacement for Atrix 4G problems whose warranty would be expired, and, 2) batteries have weak warranty coverage anyway since so much of that is beyond their control.

Same here recently.
My battery life has gotten a lot shorter (and cell reception worse). Most of my 'battery usage' is coming from cell stand-by.
Overcharged Battery
How long are you leaving the A2 on the charger? MTL you may have "overcharged" the battery, overloading the memory in the battery itself, therefore resulting in less usage time from a "fully charged" battery.
Typically, as a sales rep, I recommend my customers only charge their phone for the full 4-8 hours, when it is the FIRST time they charge their phone. typically after that, it takes only 2-2.5 hours to provide the phone with a full charge. Over charging will fry the memory and make the battery hold less charge and over a period of time eventually kill the battery, making you have to buy a new one.
P.S. If I am completely off base please let me know. Yes I am noob, but this info was actually part of my training courses so I'd love to tell them they're wrong. Hope I was helpful.

The phone electronics will not actually allow overcharging. you will have problems if you do overcharge it but you can't do that while it is in the phone.

Thanks but in addition to any designed protection against overcharging I also pull the phone off the charger as soon as practicable after hitting 100% per Circle Battery with the exception being when using GPS which means that the phone will charge very slowly to 100% and remain connected to the charger until the next stop in my trip. The phone charges more slowly on the car adapter because the screen is constantly on along with running GPS and music software and streaming music via bluetooth.
I also try to make sure that I always disconnect the charger before starting or turning off the vehicle's engine. It may not be necessary anymore but that is an old habit.
Happening to me recently, before the battery lasted very long, but the past few days I arrive at night with 20% left. I tried doing a factory reset but it still the same. Also, the "cell standby" is the biggest consumer? I don't know what does that mean...

As far as I know 'cell standby' is basically your phone searching for a signal.
Remove any app that u suspect. If u have installed battery indicator pro, that's the culprit. Same happened to my phone when i had battery indicator pro. Install juice defender ultimate. Works a bit. Clear off d ram and reboot

For what little it may be worth replacing the battery showed the same problem and motorola now admits that this might be a motherboard issue and wants me to send the device to them for repair. They had their level 3 contract tech support review what I had done for troubleshooting and they agreed that the above steps plus replacing the battery had exhausted all possible options that can be taken outside a repair depot.
Those with similar problems may want to do the same and finally call motorola.

Wonderful, I am on my 3rd Atrix 2. Returned two previous because of the sd card reader/compatibility problems. The third one I received hasn't had the problem but now I can't go more than 8 hours without the battery going dead.
Cell standby is normally over 33% and Phone idle is normally at 30% or higher.
This happens whether I leave wifi on all day or turn it off.

I work from home and I have 5 bar signal strength from my house so there is no reason for my phone to constantly be searching for network signal.
Still happening to me. Today I was talking with an AT&T representative via online chat, and they only tell you to disable background data, and set it to super saver mode. They didn't want to listen that the phone before lasted until midnight with the battery still green and that now it goes red. The guy said that the phone is supposed to last 8.5 hours, since that is the talk time. I tried to explain that the talk time didn't work like that, but no good.
Finally, I went to an AT&T store and inquired about the issue. Since I'm within the 1 year warranty they are going to send me a new battery. If that doesn't fix the problem they said they would change my phone.
