I am a avid AT&T Wizard user, but my wife has been a long time Sprint 6600 Harrier user. It keeps shutting off randomly.
I want to find her a HTC sprint CDMA replacement for under $100.
She has the Sprint Power Vision Pack, which means I should be OK on the data plan.
It looks like the mogul has a great following, so I am leaning towards it.
Any recommendations?
Looks like I can find the 6700 and Touch around here too in my price range.
The Touch Pro appears to be out of my range, and I am not a fan of the AT&T fuze......
All help appreciated! Thanks!!!!!
What about that new Samsung with wm6.5, touch screen, WiFi, GPS, and keyboard on the front? No, XDA support but you do get a good quality phone with a very good Samsung SQ. There is the HTC Diamond, and the Samsung Omnia if you can do keyboardless.
A friend showed me the TP2 which is very cool. He called Sprint & got it for $199 w/ 2yr contract.
I think I found an oldy but goody!
Sprint Mogul, brand new in the retail box, with extra battery, and all cables.
I was skeptical, but it was indeed mint. She had gotten it in the past and she thought it was too complicated.
Thanks for the responses!

I popped into T-Mobile in Derby today and asked if they'll be getting the TC (I'm assuming it'll probably rebranded as the MDA Compact IV) anytime soon. The lady said they definitely will be getting it but didn't know when. When I asked her to hazard a guess she guesstimated end of Feb.
Just thought you might like to know
thanks not too long....
No way. I'm leaving T-mobile for the Polaris and 02 and the sales guy is trying to keep me on by offering all sorts of stuff including a free Touch Phone with accessories and a really good contract. If they were getting one soon he would have been in a better position to judge and tell me to hang on, instead he is offering me newer phones for free that haven't been released by T-mobile yet. If they are getting their version it will probably be in April or May. They are always 3 - 4 months behind o2.
Spoke to T-Mobile and they said they would not be selling the TC or a rebadged version of it.
Sounds like t-mobile dont know whats going on
I don't know what to believe to be honest. From experience, the guys and gals on the shop floor haven't got a clue what's coming until about a week before it arrives. That's why I said guesstimate not estimate
Really, o2 isn't an option for me. Nobody can compete with T-Mobile's web-n-walk at the moment. Yes, o2 offer an 'unlimited' plan but it's 200MB plus loads of fair usage restrictions. I'm away from home a lot so I use Internet Sharing for my laptop in the hotel rooms - I'd use 200MB up in about 2 hours! Plus I much prefer their Flext plan over fixed x mins and x texts plans of the other providers.
I also can't justify £300+ on buying an htc branded one.
I hope T-Mobile pull their finger out and get the TC sharpish! I have the Vario II (Hermes) at the moment and my battery's screwed - it barely lasts a day even without actually using it. I've just bought a new battery but I want some TouchFLO action!
Even if they eventually do TC, I guess you will be disappointed when they tell you the upgrade price...
I love my T-Mobile too, but I will have to switch to O2 to get a good deal on the phone.
i would love to have it on TMob but i need something by the end of Jan or I will lose my number. pretty sure im gonna go with O2.
Well, technically I have to wait 'til May before I can upgrade - that might be long enough for TMob to catch up!
My new battery has arrived as I type this it's a 1500mAh - It's lighter than the stock 1350mAh and the pack has a 'cheap' look to it - "Cameron Sino" branded (never heard of 'em!). It this doesn't improve the life I get out of it then I may claim on the insurance. My bank covers it on new for old so I may be able to convince them to replace it with htc branded polaris (probably wishful thinking).
I'm running a TC on T-Mobile (bought phone simm free which is expensive I know) but unless O2 have improved their data charges I'd never switch to them. I was with them until last year and it was a complete rip-off. T-Mobile's web'n'walk is unlimited (ok 1Gb fair-usage) and perfect for the TC.
If any UK T-Mobile user runs out of patience and wants to go the unbranded route then I can report that my unbranded UK HTC Touch Cruise works perfectly with my UK T-Mobile PAYG SIM card for both GSM and 3G.
When I first turned my TC on it offered to auto-configure the network for me; I let it and it set up both GSM and 3G and then defaulted to 3G for the connection. I'm paranoid about battery life so I went into phone settings and set the band manually to GSM but I have since switched it to 3G temporarily to try some browsing.

Anyone know the cheapest site for this phone? I want the unbranded one. All i find is 600+ which is ridiculous. i dont mind if it is used or new and ebay just hasnt been yielding that many unlocked unbranded ones. if you have one and are willing to sell to me, maybe we can work something out securely over ebay on private auction. i know this phone is only out for 2 months but hey, some people just dont like it. i am willing to trade a touch diamond unlocked unbraded + some cash and accessories for one.
Most places I have seen are about $600+. I got my Fuze for about $300 with upgrade on AT&T. That way it can support 3G. Remember not to buy the CDMA as it does not have a sim card. What provider are you with? It may be cheaper to buy a branded one from your provider.
Sorry buddy. There is no such thing as a cheap high-end device. Get a fuze if you really want it cheap. Sell your diamond for $400. Pay $100 for a fuze. Unbranded touch pros are $600+. You won't find a working model any cheaper.
thats what i kinda thought too. im bound to at&t already and still am under a contract until june and not eligible for upgrade discount until may. i really want to switch to tmobile because of their coverage at work and home is more superior in my area. an upgrade to the fuze would cost the $499 no commitment price.
i love my diamond for everything except the keyboard sucks. feels like my old iphone but way worse to type on because of the small size.
whats the difference between the cdma ones and the gsm ones? is it easier to flash one version than the other?
I'm in England and I bought mine from eBay for £390 - it wasn't brand new but only used for a week so it's as new.
I think (and this is my newbie answer!) that GSM phones (which I have) uses a sim card and CDMA uses............er.............something else?
GSM is generally easier to flash and more roms are created for GSM phones. I would love the diamond actually. I have a fuze and I barely use the hardware keyboard. I just use the compact qwerty on-screen. It's perfecty fine for me. I would've soo went for the diamond if it had removable storage. 4gb is just not enough for me. I meant go for the Touch HD, but I want 3g =/ and The touch HD looks promising, but not without a d-pad.
I recently just bought a Fuze for an UPGRADE from my ATT store for 210.00 after charges. So far I'm not 100% satisfied with this phone and I'm thinking about returning it. Out of the box it sucked and I feel as though I could have bought a better phone for around the same price. Thoughts?
I am surprised AT&T still sells the Fuze. They sell the newer version HTC Tilt2 for $200 with a 2-year contract. If you had to extend your contract to get the Fuze for $210, consider your options. The Fuze is a very good Windows Mobile phone but newer phones have bigger screens and ship with Windows Mobile 6.5.
210 sounds like a lot. i got mine for 40 bucks
no contract
yea, im going to take it back tomorrow. Out of the box, how is the Tilt2 compared to the fuze? the fuze is a neat phone but even after installing an updated ROM from the HTC site and putting on Diamond Tweak and Diamond TF3D and about 10 other apps I still find that the tf3d isnt very smooth/responsive and im having other problems as well. Thanks for responding guys.

Upgrade? As in you renew a contract and they gave you a Fuze for $210?
Yes, you overpaid for it. By a large amount. The phone can be purchased for about $120 unlocked nowadays.
Personally, whenever I purchase cell phones, I always do it online (yes, including by one on contract). Other places are almost always cheaper than retail stores. I remember a few months back, AT&T was selling the Touch Pro2 (i.e. Tilt2) on contract for about $250; by comparison, Amazon was offering it for free.
As for the Tilt2, it is much better than the Fuze out of the box. If you can find an AT&T store that lets you try out the phones, you can test it out yourself there.
I love my evo, however I can no longer afford sprint. Bottom line is I'll be joining the T-mo family. I'm going to be picking up a Touch 4G off of craigslist. I'm looking at spending between about 250. The Sensation is out of my cost range. I'm going on the family value plan for 99.89 for two lines. Any suggestions on this phone or any other. What pitfalls could i get into with buying one off craigslist, can these phones be blacklisted like sprint(I.E. bad ESN), I know they take sim cards. Any other tips . My I going to be disappointed because I can’t get my flash on…
Thx
First of all welcome to the GSM world and temporary TMo as soon to be part of the Death Star. So technically if you have the phones IMEI on the network the operator can block it from connecting to the tower, but however its not fully enforced by any GSM TelecoOperator in USA. Far as the plan goes the value plan is ok I guess in attempt to lock in user in to contract so they are stuck after the merge.

The MT4G is a very good phone. Even though it has a smaller screen than the Evo's the 2nd Generation Snapdragon makes it so much faster and better on games than the Evo.
Plus the S-LCD screen is nice.
BUT
Things to check before buying it from a guy of CL is that the MT4G comes with 2 different types of screens. The nice Super LCD that I already mentioned, or a washed out TFT screen. Now the TFT screen is pretty similar to the Evo's so I'm sure you know what that looks like. Easy way to tell is that a S-LCD doesn't change colors on angles, TFT does. It's a dead giveaway.
ALSO
The MT4G comes with two different types of eMMC chips where having the so called "bad" CAN cause a permanent brick to your phone shortly after rooting and flashing.
Now it's not a definite brick because I used to have the "bad" chip and was perfectly fine for months, but many weren't as lucky as me. So to be on the safe side make sure you get the one with the good chip.
Easiest way to check is once you get a chance to test the one you're about to buy, download Terminal Emulator from the market.
Then open it and type int he following:
Code:
cat /sys/class/block/mmcblk0/device/name
Then press enter.
If it says SEM04G then that's the good chip. So that's a green light.
BUT, if you see M4G2DE then that's the "bad" chip and I would stay away from purchasing that one and look for another seller.
Anyways, hoped I helped. This is a very powerful phone and I'm sure you'll love it if you can disregard the fact that it's a tad bit smaller than the Evo when it comes to the screen size.
If you want to read more information about the eMMC chips then take a look at this thread.
Thanks for that info on good/bad chips. Thinking about getting one for my wife off CL so I dont have to worry about contracts. Still hoping deal with the Deathstar will be killed.
why dont you use amazonwireless.com ? you can get the phones dirt cheap, i played 7 bucks for new mytouch 4g and a cent for droid 1 a year or so before the mytouch4g
Fellow ex sprint here too, albeit an ex epic user... Left tmobile about a year ago. Missed it and came back.Got two free mt4g on tmobile.com
All kinds of neat benefits after the switch, like tmobiles ” fake” 4g that usually nets me over 10+ down, where as sprint would only get around 3. And you can surf the net while on the phone while texting while driving (using the genius button and dragon dictation of course)

Yes, I also switched to the tmobile Value Plan last month, AT&T was getting too expensive, anyways I was using my Xperia X10 until yesterday where I got a MT4G dirt cheap on craigslist, for only $175! It has the good emmc chip and the slcd screen! Also came with the carrying case thingie I consider myself lucky. This phone is seriously SOOOO much faster than my X10 it's not even funny!
Welcome to t-mobile. 9 year customer. I've had every android phone that t-mobile has had since the g1 out of all of them HTC built the best. They all were sturdy build with class. Still going to get the sensation soon. But the mytouch u will enjoy. Might want to root. The espresso bubbled sense I don't care for. I'm on the sensation Rom through Virtuous Unity with absolutely no problems in my book

So i want 2 Touch Slide 4G, but on the value plan tmo whats you to pay retail for the phone and that's like $1000. Here's my work around.... No not craigslist, Go to best buy get the the classic family 1000 with data and txting it's comes out to $119 a month for the two lines. Pay $0 for the 4G touch slide. Wait a month and pay tmo 400 for changing my plan to the value family 1000 that $79 a and re-up my conteract for two yrs.
The differance in the two plans is $40X24=960
I gave tmo 0 for the phones and 400 for the EFT so I'm out 400.
So i either got two NEW phones for 300, Maybe even cheaper then craiglist.
Or I save 560 over 24 months.
The Very Simple Math
960-400=560
What Am I missing.
I recently got a Nexus 4 to replace an original Droid Incredible. I'm currently using it on the T-Mobile $30 prepaid plan. Not surprisingly, I'm enjoying the upgrade since I had the Droid Incredible for nearly 3 years and have been missing out on the many updates to the Android OS. My wife also has a Droid Incredible and I'd like to get her off Verizon Wireless so that we can cut our total monthly cell service costs in half. I don't mind being without true 4G service, since I'm usually near WiFi and don't mind frugally adopting new tech.
Unfortunately, the upgrade to a new phone doesn't have the same appeal to her as it does to me (an IT guy). Specifically, she doesn't want a phone with a huge screen (the Nexus 4 screen feels a little big for me even) and she doesn't need something super powerful, since I know she never even tapped the full power of the Incredible when it was new. I don't want to get one of the underpowered versions of flagship phones that a lot of manufacturers make, plus I also want to buy it unlocked and out of contract. Closer to a 4" screen, is better than closer to 4.5" screen. She really likes the size of the Droid Incredible just fine and she has a tablet and laptop for when a larger screen is in order.
I've searched around online and the current ideas that I have are HTC One S, Samsung Galaxy SII or Samsung Galaxy SIII Mini. It looks like the later two are available on Amazon.com for decent prices, but the HTC One S looks like it may be trickier to find new. Has anyone else found themself in this this situation? Any recommendations?
