Contact Search never clears after dial - General Questions and Answers

I support a ton of WM phones here at work..
I got one that is in another state so I'm having trouble figuring it out.
He's got a new HTC Touch Pro from US Cellular.
One complaint he has is when he goes to contacts and starts typing a name.
Say DAVE.. no problem.. it finds all the daves and he can dial one.
After a call the next time he goes back into contacts it still saves DAVE so he has to backspace before he can search and dial someone else.
None of the phones I have here do that so I'm not sure what to try.
Anyone seen this before?
Thanks

Dialing problem with WM6 ** causes P

I've heard about this, but I can't find the article to see how somebody else resolved this same issue(don't think it was here...or at least I can't find it). I need to dial two asterisks immediately after eachother. When I try this I get an asterisk and a P. I can't access my work voicemail without entering two asterisks.
I have two basic scenarios. I either dial in when nobody is there and I get automated attendant, enter my mailbox number, it rings 4 times, then on pickup I have to dial ** then my box number and password. Off hours I could probably create a number with a lot of pauses to accomplish this, but if I call in during the day, I get the receptionist, and I need to manually enter the **. Waiting a couple of seconds before pressing each will give me two asterisks, but I need to enter it within 1 second and WM6 won't let me do it.
I have a 8525 using tmo. Please help anybody!!! I don't mind a work around, I just need it to work.
Love the 8525. Pressing ** through dialer will give you a P, but slide out the keyboard and use the * there and it works fine.
same problem... but no resolution
I have the diamond (no slide out keyboard)... is there another fix? anyone?

Contacts name not appearing on screen

Hi everyone,
Really hoping someone can help me. Just got the Touch Pro a few weeks ago and been having problems... Most problems I can deal with after spending half hour with my good friend Google (we go waaaay back ). But this one has me stumped.
My contacts: if I store the number with the international code, i.e. as +447852******, when I get a call from the number, it shows the number on the screen but not the name. It shows in the national format, i.e. as 07852******.
So I thought, "Ah, I've got it!" and I changed the number of my test contact from +447852****** to 07852******. And when I received a call, the name came up on the screen!
But then I got a text from the number... And as you might have guessed, the name didn't come up, but the number did, as +447852******.
Ergo, I have to save two numbers in the contacts if I want it to show both when being called and when receiving texts - one in +44 format and one in 0 format.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Opps. Someone already started a thread about this... (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=503268) I'm sorry!
But it seems they had no luck in finding a solution. That's three people with the same problem. Any ideas?
Well known problem on many branded Touch Pro's

How to get Contacts names to show on incoming calls?

Hi,
I have recently purchased a Touch Pro and am slowly getting to grips with it. I put my current T Mobile sim card into it which has all my contacts on it. If I go through the Windows Mobile menus I can see all my contacts fine. However when the phone rings it doesn't show me what contact is calling. After the call is completed it usually pops up with a message saying "This contact is not on your list" or something like that and I have to go into the contacts list and manually add the contact from there to get it to show me who is calling on the screen the next time.
Why is this if the contacts list is already in the phone and showing up when I look at it?. Is there a way to have all my contacts added in so that every one of them shows up when someone calls or do I have to do them all manually one at a time?. Because that would take ages as I have a lot of contacts!!!.
Many thanks for any advice you guys can give.
hello, copy your contacts from your simms to the phone memory., see if that works, im guessing when you enter the phone # after the call the # is being put into the phone memory and thats why you can see it the next time. hope this helps.

Thanks, will try that out and report back with my findings.

[Q] HTC 8X caller ID issue

Hi,
I bought a T-Mobile HTC 8X in the US, unlocked it and brought it back with me to Israel. Now, when Israeli contacts call me, their numbers appear as (for example) 050 555 5555. When they text me, the number shows up as +97250 555 5555. For some reason the phone isn't able to tell that those two are the same number. I couldn't find anything while looking through the settings. I tried playing around with regions and all and came up with nothing. My old AT&T Focus had no issues and my dad's British 8S is working fine as well.
If I remember correctly, In WP7 deivces there's a registry setting which allows to control how many digits from the right identify the number as unique. However, I couldn't find a registry editor for the 8X (is there any?) so that information won't help me right now.
So now, my caller ID function sucks and the only way to actually ID contacts is to save 2 numbers for each one... really frustrating.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks!
Eyal
HTC support emailed back
And after sending them my IMEI they said that unfortunately there's nothing they can do and T-Mobile phones show that symptom in places like Israel and Europe.
So, it's either selling it on ebay or waiting for a registry editor or flashing it with a new ROM somehow. Option #1 seems like the most realistic one at the moment. This really sux.

Actually, if I remember correctly from my previous experience with unlocked phones, most true Caller-ID (where the phone can identify who is calling even if they AREN'T in your Contacts list) requires XML code embedded in the phone (somewhere, don't ask me where) by the provider. Some providers use the same frameworks, so it's possible to get it working from network to network, but in most cases no.
I've never seen a situation tho, where it couldn't pick up the name from the Contacts list, based on the number coming in. I seem to remember you can turn on a feature called "International Dialing Help" that might bring them both together. OR put the entire phone number in your contacts. (As it is displayed when it comes in on Text).

I tried saving the entire number, but because local Israeli numbers get an extra "0" the phone is not able to ID them. Local call comes in as 050-5555555. SMS, like an intl. call, comes in as +97250-5555555. The "International Dialing Help" really helps when you're dialing. I thought it would fix the caller-id issue but it doesn't.
I spoke with HTC and with WP8 support on twitter. It's a known issue for T-mo phones and according to WP8 support, it has been forwarded to the appropriate team which probably means it'll be fixed in months to come. Until then, the only option is to get the phone flashed by one of the Israeli carriers with the Israeli version of the OS.

[Q] International Texting Issues

so my dad is having problems texting Internationally with His Galaxy s4. What is happening is he sends a text to someone with the international code (011) or something like that infront of the persons # and he saves it under there name. what is happening is when he recieves one back from that person it comes without the (011) and therefore if he tries to respond he gets a error. His work around is having to go to contacts and click the name so the 011 comes back. do any of you know how to fix this.
