Contacts name not appearing on screen - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hi everyone,
Really hoping someone can help me. Just got the Touch Pro a few weeks ago and been having problems... Most problems I can deal with after spending half hour with my good friend Google (we go waaaay back ). But this one has me stumped.
My contacts: if I store the number with the international code, i.e. as +447852******, when I get a call from the number, it shows the number on the screen but not the name. It shows in the national format, i.e. as 07852******.
So I thought, "Ah, I've got it!" and I changed the number of my test contact from +447852****** to 07852******. And when I received a call, the name came up on the screen!
But then I got a text from the number... And as you might have guessed, the name didn't come up, but the number did, as +447852******.
Ergo, I have to save two numbers in the contacts if I want it to show both when being called and when receiving texts - one in +44 format and one in 0 format.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Opps. Someone already started a thread about this... (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=503268) I'm sorry!
But it seems they had no luck in finding a solution. That's three people with the same problem. Any ideas?

Well known problem on many branded Touch Pro's

O2 *#10# Failed

Hi
I purchased my new phone a little while ago now, its an unlocked phone but was orignally on orange, I'm using a pay as you go o2 sim card in it. I found all setting for this and everything works, mms, email, IE, and GPS.
The only thing im having slight trouble with is the balance of the phone, when I send a txt or use the phone to ring some one the balance is displayed in a little message box at the top, when I ring the number 4444 I can hear the balance but the most useful feature is being able to type *#10* and view the balance. at the top in the msgbox. Anyone with a o2 will know what im talking about. When I type this number in all I get is failed and not the balance. Now I wrote to o2 about this and they said that it was basically because I had an unlocked phone and it wouldn't pick this number up. I already kind of knew this, but they provided no tech. settings, files to change etc to change this. Is there any one who knows how to get round this problem and the steps that I should take.
I guess firstly that flashing the phone to the stellars firmware would get rid of this problem, (cross fingers.) is there any reg hacks or anything like that which could be used, I do with some expert help here.
TIA

Vario IV and callerID

All,
Just got my new VarioIV and callerID is not working i.e. when someone rings who is also in my phonebook their name and number is not displayed. The phone display unknown caller and the number.
If the same person sends me a text message their name is displayed. Anyone else experiencing this?
After some investigation I have discovered this phone does not like international numbers in the format of +XX
If I have a number in the format of 07125 123456 callerID with name works.
If I have a number in the format of +447125 123456 callerID does not work but when I get a text the person name is displayed.
Is this by design? My Kasier, Hermes and Blue Angel always worked with +XX numbers.
Thanks

I totally agree, why I need to use a 3rd party software to fix the problem is totally unacceptable. T-Mobile should address this problem, i will give their customer support a ring.
Thanks

Hello I tried using Schaps Adv Config and changed the trailing numbers to 9 and indeed callerID now works BUT this seems to break text messages i.e. when someone sends me text i get no notification on my phone. This is crazy, I have spoken with t-mob who will reset my profile but i have a feeling this is a Vario IV rom problem.
Thanks

Contact Search never clears after dial

I support a ton of WM phones here at work..
I got one that is in another state so I'm having trouble figuring it out.
He's got a new HTC Touch Pro from US Cellular.
One complaint he has is when he goes to contacts and starts typing a name.
Say DAVE.. no problem.. it finds all the daves and he can dial one.
After a call the next time he goes back into contacts it still saves DAVE so he has to backspace before he can search and dial someone else.
None of the phones I have here do that so I'm not sure what to try.
Anyone seen this before?
Thanks

[Q] What do the numbers above an text message mean?

I'm new to this messaging arena, so my question may have an obvious answer. I get some messages at times, that I have no idea who they are from. They have no name associated to them, but have some number listed above them, that is almost long enough, to be a phone number, but not quite. Hows do you tell, just who is texting you?
Yesterday, I got a text, saying my address had been updated, to one in Los Angeles. I looked at, and figured it was some idiot, who sent it to the wrong person. I have not been to LA in about 30 years, and live where I always have, some 2,000 miles from there. So, it's obviously a bad text. But, how do you determine, just who it is, that has sent you a text, if they don't identify themselves? And just what do the set of numbers associated about the text, mean?
As I said, the answer may be an obvious one, but I don't know it. Can someone please explain this to me? Thanks.
are the numbers 5 digits?
Sometimes you'll get a text from your carrier (sprint, verizon, etc) that will match the description your getting. I've also seen spam texts come to my phone as well. With text messages, if its coming from another phone, it will almost always include the area code so the number you see will be 10 digits.
Maybe spam? it's bad to post your number online i learned my lesson with emails.
The numbers I speak of, are either 8 or 9, not the 10 needed for a phone number. AT&T unfortunately is who I was stupid to choose instead on Verizon. Where I live, Verizon has 3G that works, but AT&T only has 2G, which takes 4 or 5 minutes, to connect to, using EDGE. IF YOU CAN EVEN CONNECT. Paying to have your own WIFI, is the only way I can use my Captivate, on the web. But with a couple of text messages from AT&T, they identify themselves. The text message I asked about, was saying my address was now switched to Los Angeles. It gives a zip, but no name or clue, on who it is. I may have got out of whack by it, but I texted them back, and saud THANKS. BUT WHO THE HELL ARE YOU? No response back, but it may very well be a fishing attempt, to see if anyone answered back. I noticed when I turned my Captivate on last night, there was an odd looking icon in the tool bar at the top of the phone. I open the screen to see what it was, and it was an offer to MEET SEXY WOMEN AROUND WHERE I LIVE. Never had that one before, and it may be tied in to my getting, and texting back, that change of address text. But the numbers I speak of, are at the very top of the message, and like I said, those I don't understand, are 8 or 9, not 10, so it can't be phone numbers. But, what are they?
Okay. I learned from an AT&T Techster, that the numbers associated with SMS TEXT, are called SHORT CODE, for 4 to 6 numbers, and LONG CODE, for more numbers. This id's the textster, in much the same way, that your IP address, ID's you, while on line. I gave him the 9 digit number, that was associated with my spam text, but he was unable to ID just who, or what, had texted the spam to me. He said that AT&T had a software program, that allowed them to search for the id's of texting spammers, but this was a paid for version. He said he was sure there was personal versions, some free, that people who own a cell phone, can use to try and id those texting them. He was unable, to give me names of software, and so far, I haven't found personal software, either for my computer, or my Captivate. I realized, that maybe for the Captivate, someone in this forum, would have a suggestion. It's like the CALLER ID, of landline phones, and might be able to id, just who is trashing, or spamming you. Any ideas, on SHORT or LONG CODE software one could install?

[Q] HTC 8X caller ID issue

Hi,
I bought a T-Mobile HTC 8X in the US, unlocked it and brought it back with me to Israel. Now, when Israeli contacts call me, their numbers appear as (for example) 050 555 5555. When they text me, the number shows up as +97250 555 5555. For some reason the phone isn't able to tell that those two are the same number. I couldn't find anything while looking through the settings. I tried playing around with regions and all and came up with nothing. My old AT&T Focus had no issues and my dad's British 8S is working fine as well.
If I remember correctly, In WP7 deivces there's a registry setting which allows to control how many digits from the right identify the number as unique. However, I couldn't find a registry editor for the 8X (is there any?) so that information won't help me right now.
So now, my caller ID function sucks and the only way to actually ID contacts is to save 2 numbers for each one... really frustrating.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks!
Eyal
HTC support emailed back
And after sending them my IMEI they said that unfortunately there's nothing they can do and T-Mobile phones show that symptom in places like Israel and Europe.
So, it's either selling it on ebay or waiting for a registry editor or flashing it with a new ROM somehow. Option #1 seems like the most realistic one at the moment. This really sux.

Actually, if I remember correctly from my previous experience with unlocked phones, most true Caller-ID (where the phone can identify who is calling even if they AREN'T in your Contacts list) requires XML code embedded in the phone (somewhere, don't ask me where) by the provider. Some providers use the same frameworks, so it's possible to get it working from network to network, but in most cases no.
I've never seen a situation tho, where it couldn't pick up the name from the Contacts list, based on the number coming in. I seem to remember you can turn on a feature called "International Dialing Help" that might bring them both together. OR put the entire phone number in your contacts. (As it is displayed when it comes in on Text).

I tried saving the entire number, but because local Israeli numbers get an extra "0" the phone is not able to ID them. Local call comes in as 050-5555555. SMS, like an intl. call, comes in as +97250-5555555. The "International Dialing Help" really helps when you're dialing. I thought it would fix the caller-id issue but it doesn't.
I spoke with HTC and with WP8 support on twitter. It's a known issue for T-mo phones and according to WP8 support, it has been forwarded to the appropriate team which probably means it'll be fixed in months to come. Until then, the only option is to get the phone flashed by one of the Israeli carriers with the Israeli version of the OS.
