Hello, I'd like to have prompted, only at startup, a pin request... I don't wanna set the windows mobile lock... I use CSDevCtrl and I'm fine with it.
Just a pin on startup. How to???
Anyone knows?
Just set the pin lock on your sim.

Man... of course I wasn't talking about the sim pin, I was talking of a cell pin...! Asked just once at startup...
well if you have the sim lock then u get the same behaviour as you are looking for no ?
No at all... in that case it's still possible to use the cell... I wanna protect the cell (don't care about sim), but only at startup.
Why don't you want to use Windows Mobile Lock located in Settings? You could "almost" do what you are looking for. Your phone would be protected even if the sim is changed and if you set the lock to,for example, 12 or 24 hours you will likely have to insert the code only if you softreset or turn off your device. During normal use, the code will be asked only when you connect to PC with Activesync or WMDC..if that doesn't suit you I'm sorry I couldn't help.
Ciao

Nope... I use CSDevCtrl just to have an auto screenlock WITHOUT pin every time there is a call and everytime the screen goes off.
I want still to use CSDevCtrl, but I want also a pin prompted only at startup and not during the usual usage of the autoscreenlock.

I recently setup my 8125 to sync with my exchange server here at work, it made me setup this pin for what I believe is device lock. I have been trying to disable it because I hate having to enter a code or pin just to get into the phone. If this is not a clear enough description. Its the same Lock screen that says Emergency Phone Calls can be made. I would like to know how to disable it.

does this ask for pin code only when u connect with ur exchange server or every time when u switchoff/switch on urpda ?
if it only asks when u hookup to exchange server, delete ur account with exchange server and than again setup but only this time don't set any Pin code.
and if does it every time u switch on ur device, than i'll suggest u make a backup of all ur important data on the phone and clear the phone's memory,it'll clear the Pin code.to clear the phone memory ,consult ur Pda's user's manual.
hope it will help,cheers
Is anyone aware of an application that can softreset a PPC phone and restart it without having to go thru the process of keying in your pin code each time??
In the same way that a cash point card could be used without a PIN code to withdraw cash?
Correct me if I am wrong, I think you may be looking at a hard reset.
I'm not sure if this is what your asking but it is possible to disable asking for a pin code. But when your phone gets lost or stolen everybody will be able to use your sim...
Anyway:
Settings -> Phone
Uncheck "Require PIN when phone is used"
What I am talking about is an app like SpriteBackup which can after backing up your device restart it and aquire a GSM signal without asking for the pin code.
actually, you would need a software that is able to do soft reset and key in the pin code. none so far, but there are software thaty can key in the pin code.. like phonealarm.
Thanks ,will check it out.
If you keep the phone in flight mode then it will not ask for the PIN when restarting.
i downloaded throttle lock and i forgot my unlock pattern.. and i cannot get inside of my phone. is there a way i can get around it without doing a hard reset?
you should still be able to get into your phone through active sync (throttle lock locks you screen not your phone) from there you can manually navigate to throttle lock program files and edit the file containing the pass code (its a text file)
hold on and i'll find out the name....
EDIT: lockcode.txt

Connect your phone via activesyn and go into the installed directory of throttle lock. There will be a file( cannot remember the name of the file). Inside it is a series of numbers. That series of numbers are your lock code. The numbers starts from the top left hand corner with number 1. Going down will be number 2 and so on.
I just discovered this fact: the full access to the files on your 'locked' phone using ActiveSync... It's a major security flaw!!!!
It's kind of sad since I like this app...
Thanks for the great answer
Yes this worked for me and i didnt loose my text that came in and missed phone calls. it really isnt a security risk. because just like the best car alarm system is no good to you when you have a PRO who really wants your car that alarm doesnt work against them. Throttle Lock is great for the normal folks who dont know what most XDA-Developers members know. if a person gets your throttle locked phone and uses active sync then that thief knew exactly what they were after. normal lose or nosey folks wont have the tools to do such.
i installed a new rom for my fuze recently and the phone lock thing on startup disappeared. how do i set/change the password and make my phone ask for it on startup only?
It's not clear what you are asking for .
If you are talking about the PIN code when the phone is powered up you must do the following:
Press Start-Settings-Personal-Phone-Security & select ''Require PIN when phone is used''.-
no, that will still let me use the phone. i don't want to lock the sim but the phone. using that method will only block my network.
before i installed the new rom it would ask for a password before i can use the phone only after starting it. and if i entered the password wrong 3 times it would ask me to enter a1b2c3 or w/e instead of blocking the network.
I don't know the program you are talking for but I have some alternatives .
If you are using WM6.5 with lockscreen you can try SmartLock which have boot lock.
A good suggestion whatever WM you are using is ThrottleLock.
Also take a look at S2U2 but I am not sure if it supports boot lock.-
thanks i think i'll use smartlock. i've read comments on throttlelock and s2u2 and there were complaints on throttlelock about having the wrong password and then they had to hardreset or something... and s2u2 is kinda nice but not very useful.
i've used smartlock and it's not exactly what i'm looking for, i wanna set a password for the phone and make it ask for the password only when it's turned on.
Hello
In settings you have the option "find my phone".
Is there a solution that you can put a password on it.
Example:
My phone is stolen or lost.
And somebody have my phone he can now go to settings and turn the option "find my phone" off. And I can't find my phone anymore.
If there a password on it, then can't the other person turn it off.
And I can find my phone again.
Is there an app or something else?

You can try using the default lock screen password. Then, if your phone is lost or stolen and someone finds it, forget about him getting in the settings, he would not be able to get pass your lock screen without the password.

Maybe can someone create that?
Because then you have a second block for that person
