Throttle lock support seriouly needed asap - General Questions and Answers

i downloaded throttle lock and i forgot my unlock pattern.. and i cannot get inside of my phone. is there a way i can get around it without doing a hard reset?

you should still be able to get into your phone through active sync (throttle lock locks you screen not your phone) from there you can manually navigate to throttle lock program files and edit the file containing the pass code (its a text file)
hold on and i'll find out the name....
EDIT: lockcode.txt

Connect your phone via activesyn and go into the installed directory of throttle lock. There will be a file( cannot remember the name of the file). Inside it is a series of numbers. That series of numbers are your lock code. The numbers starts from the top left hand corner with number 1. Going down will be number 2 and so on.

I just discovered this fact: the full access to the files on your 'locked' phone using ActiveSync... It's a major security flaw!!!!
It's kind of sad since I like this app...

Thanks for the great answer
Yes this worked for me and i didnt loose my text that came in and missed phone calls. it really isnt a security risk. because just like the best car alarm system is no good to you when you have a PRO who really wants your car that alarm doesnt work against them. Throttle Lock is great for the normal folks who dont know what most XDA-Developers members know. if a person gets your throttle locked phone and uses active sync then that thief knew exactly what they were after. normal lose or nosey folks wont have the tools to do such.

Howto disable Device Lock via registry?

Hi there,
my company forces every WM user to activate the WM6 default Device Lock with a cab you have to install, which changes some registry parameters, I guess. But this cab also includes certificates (WLAN and VPN-access) that I really need, so I have to install it.
But I don't want to have my device locked every 15 minutes (especially if using Navigon...). If I try to disable Device Lock in the Settings menu, the field is greyed out. But is there any registry parameter which disables this device lock?!?
Is there another way to disable it?
Thanks in advance!
First enable the box again to untick it:
HKLM\Security\Policies\00001023
0 = Enabled; 1 = Disabled
Then install Zenyee.com Stay Unlock.cab and soft reset your device.
This program will prevent the lock to be activated again.
Great! Works just perfect for me!
This might just be what i'm after Last week I was using an ipaq on wm2003 but since the weekend I've bought myself a Sony E X1 and logged onto the works network this morning and it installed some security polices and then it started locking the phone every 5mins.
Quick search and I find this thread, hope it works, let you all know .
Ta
Update, it has given me the option and I have disabled it rather than setting it to say 24hours and also ran the keep unlocked cab file. See how it goes at work tomorrow.
well i can confirm that no further locks have appeared since logging back onto the work network can see i'm going to enjoy this forum. ta

It works yes, but i found that the app absolutely wiped out my battery which ran very hot. I removed the app and this solved the problem, although unfortunetly device locked appeared once more. Does it wipe out yours?
WM 6.1 VPNLockingmy device
Thanks very much gang!!! I have installed Zenyee.com Unlock cab. It solved the goddamn issue, and allowed me to untick the password request in Setting, Lock.
before Icould not untick it.
now the device is not locking itself every time i turn the screen off
The manual registry cleaning worked very well. Thank you for the tip.
I haven't installed the .cab so we'll see how long it takes until it gets locked again...Maybe it won't I don't have much faith in our IT Group
Not wanting to spoil anyones fun, and i can see why periodic locking of the device is a pain, it is obviously being done for a reason. Bear in mind that it may well be considered a breach of employment contract to circumvent said security measure.
For information i am a BlackBerry Admin and so have a "vested" interest in device security. Just think what "sensitive" detail may be on the device and so open to anyone if it gets lost and this hack is running.

Very true deedee,
Personally I dont use the hack on my company mobile, but on my personal one which i used to use via exchange, the policy lock is still enforced even after removing server details, which is a proper pain. The only real way is a hard reset in my experience. The app does work but wiped out my battery daily (and breaking the said security policies, which you are correct can end in your p45 in the post!!!)
Great words of wisdom as usual!
Been looking for a way to get ride of the pain in the ass device lock.... And this just made my day... thanks alot....
I agree as well. However, isn't there a possibility (via Mortscript or whatever) to disable the locking when running some application (a navigator as mentioned in this message) and to enable it again after quitting?
This way, you don't have the lock while navigating, and the policy is still upheld (unless of course, your mobile gets nicked out of the car while in navigation mode).
THANK YOU!
omg so nice to get rid of that damn phonelock thanks!!

Bypass Gmail sign-in, Bypass passwords, Bypass screen lock drawing!!!!!

I read this over at tmonews...
"While playing with my G today, I found a way to enter "safe mode" which will bypass the initial gmail signin and allow you to straight to the good stuff with out activating via google. You can also bypass the security drawing pattern.
1. Power off your device
2. While device is powering back on press and hold the "menu" key, keep holding it past the G1 and android splash screen.
Phone will boot all the way to the main screen and display "safe mode" in lower left corner.
I have confirmed that data is still fully operational and all of my downloaded programs."
Very interesting

How about a ROM DUMP?
I think there's already a thread or two about that.
im sorry to say this but the safe mode does not allow to bypass the initial activation screen but it sure does bypass the security screen

Correct I already posted about this. You still have to activate service with Tmobile and Google. Safe mode on the phone is just like on a regular computer help you fix issues.

you need to download the SDK from google. You should see some threads with the SDK or the Emulater... it is all the same. adb is in the tools thread. Ohh and you need to enter "adb -d uninstall (name of apk)"

[Q] Homescreen Lock Text

I use the pattern lock on my Mez. Right now it says US Cellular when locked, my concern is if I misplace my phone and it's found, no one will know who's phone it is because it will be locked. Is there a way to Change the text to include a name or contact information?
There used to be a way to change it on the Hero, but I'm not sure if the same file exists on Samsung. You could pull the eri.xml file, edit it, and push it back out to the phone on the Hero, but I haven't done enough research to see if it's possible on the galaxy. You might be able to edit something in the framework though. I'm sure it's possible. Maybe someone who's played around with theming a little more than I have can lend some assistance.
If losing your phone is a concern (i.e. it happens a lot for you) you could always sign up for Wavesecure. I don't remember how much it costs, I got grandfathered in before it cost money, but its a handy service. It will allow you to lock down your phone using a computer or a special SMS sent to the phone that'll make the phone unusable and will display contact information.

Protect device from getting stolen

Hey guys Recently my Phone got stolen and this time I want to make sure this time it wont happen ever again. I will use Knox and Samsung Secruity to help from it. I have some question, maybe u can anwser them
1) If I lock my Device from Find my Mobile, can the Thief still Factory Reset from Power UP and Vol+ Button from Recovery?
2) Can He still install a Firmware per Odin so he can get acces to my Phone
3) If both can be done , is there anyway to pretend that from Happening?
4) Is knox as good as Icloud?
5) Can i still use find my mobile, if he turns GPS off?
Thanks for the help, this time I will make sure he wont get any benefit from it and I can get my Phone back

If your got a pass-code or pattern lock enabled, device cannot be shut down without unlocking the device first. But please keep this in mind, if the thief removes the sim card you will not be able to track your smartphone as it needs an active internet connection to track it. Also am not sure about the 3 button reset, if it will allow them to do a full system wipe, I don’t think its possible to reset it with Knox enabled.. Also if GPS is disabled you will not be able to track it accurately i could be wrong i think it needs GPS for true location..
Why not get one of those cases where you need a Alan key to unlock it ? So if your phone does get stolen, it gives you time to track and catch the perp in the act. As the case can’t be removed without a Allan key so they can’t access the simcard slot..
Or what to do, put the case on use the Allan key to lock it up tight then destroy the head, drill it in. So no one can open it up, that way if the phone does get stolen you can easily track it. just a thought..

Locked out of Galaxy S7, can't afford to lose data on phone, need help now.

Hi,
Yesterday I set a fingerprint lock on my S7. It prompted me to enter a backup password and some other password, both with different requirements (one only had to be 4 letters, one was longer and had a number) and the longer one had to be confirmed whereas the shorter one did not. I set this up and tested it a few times, everything seemed to work great. Later I let my phone idle and it turned the screen off on its own for the first time, ever since then the phone has not been able to recognize my fingerprint. It doesn't even say "No match", it just acts like I'm not even putting a finger on it at all.
Tried over and over and eventually tried the backup password, which for some reason is the shorter one without a number. I put in what I am absolutely sure I put in, and it wouldn't take it. Tried a couple more times, even got so desperate as to emulate potential typing errors I might have made (since no confirmation for that password) and nothing worked.
Eventually I hit the timed lockout and I had to stop trying things then. So I went online and searched and discovered Google's Android Device Manager. I heard that if you lock the phone with it you can unlock it through the same manager and the phone will be unlocked. First thing that was odd was that ADM didn't give me an option to enter a password, just a contact message and phone number. I still put in a message and hit lock, and... nothing changed on ADM at all.
Now my phone shows the stupid message every time I wake it up and every few seconds on the lock screen (I can still attempt to unlock the phone with the password and use phone/camera though), but ADM doesn't even give an option to unlock, just change the locked message. I can't even get rid of the damn lock by changing it to blank. I heard Samsung offers a similar service but I never made a Samsung account and apparently one is required to use it.
Beyond that the only solution I've found is wiping the phone (which I can easily do, because there's an option in ADM for it which presumably works), which I really don't want to do since I have a lot of pictures and data on the phone that aren't backed up that I would absolutely hate to lose.
To make things worse it appears that this issue is specific to my phone/the S7/Samsung phones/something, as I have my old Nexus 4 listed in ADM as well and going through the options for it I see it has the ability to define a password, but no such thing for the S7. I really have no clue where to go from here, tons of googling hasn't found me any method I haven't already tried or can't do.
I'd be so grateful if someone here would at the very least find a way for me to recover data before wiping it to get rid of the lock.
