I have a 16 GB storage card (~ 8 GB free) in the side of my device and I noticed today while fooling around with the camera settings that the "number of pictures remaining" that shows up in the upper right hand corner when you hit the menu tab is significantly less than if I have 'internal memory' selected as my save location in settings. I don't understand it. The ~ 8 GB is a good bit more free space than my internal memory. I fooled around with the enabling DCIM reg key, changing storage locations, etc. but nothing seems to affect it. Pict quality settings certainly increase the change of remaining picts but the increase is porportional across the storage card and internal memory.
Anyone else notice that setting the storage card 'caps' the number of picts or know why this is?

I am having a very similar issue. I just purchased a 8gb sdhc class 2 card. when I first put it in; the camera said I had approx 8000 pics remaining.. Then I added music and some programs {total less than 4gb} so in theroy I should still have half as many pics available to take {approx4000}, It says now I only have 136 pics left available!!
I notice this thread was started back in Nov with only one responce. I hope someone out there can help..
Thanks

Every time I do soft reset my touch dual, there is a notice said that one of program shortcut in startup folder cannot find the program - always say missing or no sufficient memory. But there will be different shortcuts that has the same problem while reboot. I found there are totally 16 shortcuts in startup folder. I tried to remove some shortcut...the problem solved. But I wonder whether there is a limit of numbers of shortcut that can be run in startup at the same time.
Hope someone can help me and many thanks to all!!

You will have such problem if the Software installed on the SD card. by the reboot it takes some time to read the SD card
I dont know about a limit of startup items. But dinarsoft's memMaid has the option to switch the order of which they start up.. i remember it also having an option to set the time after reboot for it to start up the items but i can't find that right now.
So if a program can do it, i'm thinking theres obviously some registry settings associated with it.

Here's a puzzle that's got me baffled!
Last night took some photos on my phone, plugged it into the laptop to copy them over as I've done nearly everynight for a year.
Went into the \\Storage\DCIM\100Media directory and couldnt see any files at all! Weird I thought.
So went into the Photo Album of the phone to see if they were there.
The photo album showed about 10-20 photos from AGES ago, all other photos had a circle with a line through it (like a stop sign).
Looked again in the directory, couldn't see any files, so reset the phone.
Went into the Album again, only this time it showed the default photos that comes with the phone, again nothing was showing in the 100Media directory.
Paniced at the thought of losing a load of photos but still continued looking.
Something caught my eye, the fact that even though it looked like all my photos had gone, the "number available" that appears in photo mode (the number being the one that shows how many photos you've got left to take) was still showing about 1500.
So took a few random snaps.
Sure enough, the number went down, but they were no where to be found.
Checked the size of Mb free on the storage card, made a note, then set the phone to record nothing for about 10mins.
Sure enough, the size available on the storage card had gone down but still no video was appearing in the 100Media directory.
I've reset the phone several times, any picture I take results in the "number available" going down, a few more videos of varying lengths does indeed show the space available as going down on the storage card but can not find anything anywhere!
Have manually been through every directory on the storage device, can't see anything anywhere.
Anyone had this before or suss out what the problem is and obviouslly where the hell my media is being saved?
Have checked the main device, but of course not there and wouldn't explain where the space available keeps going down.
I'm stumped!!
Install Total Commander and try to search files by date.
That's best I can suggest "out of the hat".
I've been having an issue where all of a sudden my internal memory is filled and I can't open a lot of programs due to low memory. And my gallery and music will be filled with blank duplicates of all my pics and music from my sd card onto my internal storage. All's I have to do is reformat my usb storage and it wipes it all out. That' seemed to be the fix for a while. But now, when I open my camera, it freezes up for a few minutes, and once the camera finally does start to work, is when the all the files are duplicated back into my memory. Anybody have a solution for this?

That's cm's overlay fix for cameras. You've just described every issue that it has at the moment. Which ROM are you on?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T769 using Tapatalk
I'm not sure about which Rom. Its stock running 4.0.4 if that helps. Otherwise how do I find that? So does that mean there's a fix for it?
Hello, i have the following problem: when i was rooted i used folder mount to move aplications to sdcard. Afte that i used triangle away an flashed stock 4.2.2 with odin. the problem is that when i was rooted every aplication moved to external sd card was calculated by the phone with double the normal space, but in reality the space occupied was the normal one. Now, even if i am on stock, unrooted when i install for example Real Racing 3 the phone also shows that the space occupied by RR3 is double. But again, this is only fictive space, as the free space is the normal one.
so, please help me to make the phone not showing double space occupied. Why is he acting like this? This phenomena was happening when i was rooted. But now i am not. Confused really
When I'm taking pictures with the camera, is there a way for the phone to save them to the micro SD card rather then the internal memory?
Yes. Camera settings, change data storage to SD Card.
To add some more detail:
In the camera app press the three dots for settings then the third tab (tools icon) and scroll down to Data storage. Change that to SD Card.
