Android V2.0 ROM? - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

Hi,
Now that the SDK for version 2.0 is out, I was wondering when we could realistically expect to see a ROM for the Magic which was 2.0?
Any idea clever people?
The Bluetooth API is what I am interested in.

We're waiting for the official code to be released from HTC.
should be soon.

Just wondering is anyone tring to get this on the universal yet i see the sorce code has been released, just wondered, my gf. has the g-1 and it looks neat but i haven't play with it yet, hoping to play with it on my own universal
I heard the Touch HD is supposed to have a dual boot option between WM and Android. Can someone else confirm this? Well, if this works, then I'm guessing someone should be capable of getting our unis to boot up android as well!
Cheers,
San
No so easy.
HTC's new products with wm6.1 is HD,with Android is G1,but how can you get the drivers for Uni
There are unix based ports for Universal, I think very few hardware is not working at 100%, if we have drivers for unix we have to have for Android

how "android 2.0-friendly" are current HTC android phones?

Hello guys,
You 've made a great forum here, and i must admit you're all doing amazing work. I have a question that made me crawl out of my lurking cave.
I was thinking about buying a HTC Magic/Saphire phone. Maybe getting involved with some android development. Anyway, i was wondering how compatible the phones are with the upcoming android 2.0. I know multitouch will be support (and already is in Hero,) but does that mean that i will be able to upgrade to android 2.0 and enjoy multitouch in Magic? I know multitouch capabilities are already enabled through some roms.
Also, will i expierence slower speeds with coming versions of android? [i'm thinking the way a computer made with xp in mind, behaves when you install Vista on it].
I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but i haven't found a clear answer yet
As far as MultiTouch is concerned...my understanding is that it will only work with capicitive touch screens. The Hero's screen is capacitive.
Correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I am aware the G1(Dream) and Magic have risistive screens.
Paul, thanks for your answer
That's what i thought at first, and i was gonna wait for hero to come out in Greece, but i found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=558344&highlight=multitouch
and this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4510792&postcount=26
so it seems it works with custom roms. Any ideas about the speed factor and/or the compatibility of the phones with future android versions?

Both the G1(Dream) and magic have capacitive screens. All Android phones on the market at this time have capacitive screens
Android 2.0 isn't being developed yet. 1.6 is though (codenamed donut.)
Cyanogen, over in the dream forum has already ported and IMPROVED 1.6 into the G1's.

That is not true either. 2.0 is rumored to be what is shipping on the upcoming Motorola Shules. The code name for 2.0 is eclair.
so, to get back to my original question, when Shules launches, will android 2.0 be portable to 1.6 phones like magic? i read that it won't be portable to G1 [or, to be more accurate, that they wont release an official update for it]

well the issue for the G1 was not have enough memory to "store" the update, but one of the lead developers said that the quote was taken in the wrong way. As far as I know, if you flash it yourself it should fit and work fine in the future. It is just that having the OS on there and then trying to do an Over the Air update would cause issues due to lack of space.
Alittle off the topic but, here's a spec chart of all the android phones on the market. http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/09/10/android-battle-cliq-edition/

Yes, it's coming. And it's supposed to have native video playback. Let's hope for xvid support.
that is still 2 months away. December 1 is the rumoured release date for the sholes/tao/droid.
32A developers are working on 1.6- stop being impatient.... there will be one in the next few days...... apparently it is fairly stable- just 1 issue needs sorting (plus HTC IME and hTC PDF reader cannot be used at this stage- if HTC framework is included it slows down the ion rom).....

Toshiba AC100 and Honeycomb. Anyone?

Now that nearly all 3.0 not native tablets have received an unofficial hoenycomb port, I think it would be fantastic if we make an effort to port honeycomb also to AC100. Yeah I know there aren't official google sources... But all who ported honeycomb to 2.2 native devices didn't use sources. So we can also do the same. Regarding kernel here is a useful resource: http://gitorious.org/ac100
I continue to think that for all who love android a 3.0 port would be a loved addition!
If anyone able to port honeycomb wants to join me in porting honeycomb to ac100, is welcome. I am not very expert doing these things, but I will be enthusiast to learn!
Waiting for anwers.
I would like to see Android 3.0 on the AC100 too. I'm sorry I cant realy help on this, but to port Honeycomb will not be trivial. I think. I have seen the problems to port Linix/Ubuntu for AC100 and the main problem should be the missing of the Toshiba sources.
There is a rom in the works at tabletroms dot com!!! not fully functional yet

I wish Android was more like iOS or GNU/Linux.

First, let me unravel what I mean by the title...
Apple offers updates to most if not all iOS devices when a new version of iOS comes out. I can be mistaken about this, but it really doesn't make my coming point invalid.
Most major GNU/Linux distributions supports a **** ton of hardware via the Linux kernel and can thus be installed on a lot of different computer configurations. Arch and others manage to have a rolling release, while Ubuntu and others can be updated to the latest version every time there is a new one.
Now, the Android kernel is a fork of the Linux kernel.... yet to my knowlegde, Cyagen Mod is the closest thing we have to an "Android Distrobution" that works on several devices... yet the latest stable release for my Optimus 2X was in October 2011 (Android 2.3).
My guess is that, as of 2012, the number of Android users has far surpassed the number of Linux Desktop Users.
So my question is, why can't I have an up to date Android experience on my phone?
One simple answer would be to blame NVIDIA for not updating their tegra-drivers... I might be extremely uninformed, but I believe I had a working tegra driver in my stock android 2.3 version. So why not patch the same driver for 4.1? Is Android 4.1 really that different? Why arn't more people working on this? No commercial interest? Has that ever grinded the linux community to a halt?
I want 10 stable Android distibutions by Friday afternoon... Go!
No, but seriously... I understand there are a lot of developers working on bringing the latest Android experience to all sorts of devices.
