Flashing Nightmare: Stuck at Boot Screen + 264/274 Errors!

Yup, first time disaster. I followed the guide here, installed the necessary Cert_SPCS.cab/EnableRapi.cab files, rebooted, and then started the Shelltool update...only to belatedly notice a notification screen on my 8125 asking if I wanted to run one of the programs.
I said yes, but even though the update completed, my 8125 is stuck at the boot screen.
Worse, I reset the 8125 into boot loader mode and tried to flash back, only to get a 300 error. I tried to use an updated RUU and ROM set, only to get 264 or 274 errors.
Any hope here, or did I just manage to brick my 8125?

Are you trying to flash an offical rom while in bootloader mode?

Yup. Tried to flash the official 8125 ROM from HTC. Tried to flash a number of different ROMs, actually - I always get a 264 or 274 "Communication" error, except for the official ROMs, which gave me a 300 error.
Not looking good here...

Been there, done that. In fact, that was the thread I first read. I've tried to flash to Wizard_love, but I get a 264 error.
From what I've read in the RUU Docs, a 264/274 error is rare, and fatal in this case. It's not looking good...
(On the bright side, the iPhone release has created a flood of used 8125's on eBay )

I read some were how to flash a phone that has errors, I couldn't find that post. Maybe someone else here knows of that post You didn't mention is your phone G3 or G4 I did find this post, doesn't look good. I hope someone has a better answer for you, good luck.

Thanks for the links, unfortunately it's still a no-joy situation here.
This is a G4 Cingular 8125 - sorry I forgot to mention that earlier.
ActiveSync was set to allow USB connections, and I've tried using the official RUU update utility from HTC for the Cingular 8125 with the 8125 in Bootloader (3 color) mode - I get an error 274.
I then tried the Wizard_Love version - error 264.
Next, the MB WM6 ROM - error 300.
Finally, in desperation I try the Shelltool app method again, even though I can't copy over the necessary bootloaders. It hangs up mid-flash, as expected.
Can't go forward, can't go back. Looks like I've got myself a brick...sigh...

upd: ahh, it is g4.....
so ignore whats below
it IS NOT brick ,trust me i had exactly same prob while testing cooked ROM - all yyou need is to download chinese rescue ROM, THEN flash it by its RUU, then RUU wLOVE, then flash ..anythin(g3)...and then flash IPLSPL, as it will be unequal, usually.
its unclear, why RUU cant do flash sometimes, but i believe, that you do not have brick( i had same situation 3 times = 14 flashes..;/ but machine is alive !)
of course, you may have same errors with chinese..if connecting, reconnecting etc is not working, then...use any rescue ROM closest to original, old hogs. check your firewall, and remember - SR device before EACH try - oterwise you surely will have 300 error - 1 try for each reset, no more.
chinese rescue ROM(you MUST flash wlove after that 1), or shelltool will lead you to...3bars.;/

Just a "happy ending" update:
Was just about to buy a new 8125 on eBay, when I gave it another try - hard reset the device twice in a row, then tried again to flash back to the original Cingular 8125 ROM -- it worked!
Then, in a fit of flashing madness, I went ahead and flashed one of Faria's latest WM6 sets -- and it worked as well!
So, not only don't I have brick, I actually got it upgraded. Whew...

I have spent 24 hrs flashing my qtek 9100 sim free - i think it is the g4 as IPL IS 2.17 / SPL 2.17 NO ZEROES THOUGH . IT DOES SYNC BEYOND 99% AND THE HELP WINDOWS COMES OUT - IT GOES BACK TO THE BOOTLOADER SCREEN ( 3 - 4 LINES OF RED BLUE GREEN ). PLS HELP AS I AM DYING TO GET THE WM 6.0 ONTO MY WIZARD. thanks and appreciate.

Hard SPL Problems

I have problems to use the Hard-Spl v1. I have a new HTC-Kaiser from T-Mobile. I start the Application HARD-SPL (I want to upgrating with Dutty´s ROM)
I run the kaiser-hardSPL.exe on Computer (PC)
I follow instructions on screen!!!!!
on the mobile i the question to start the applikation i answer Yes and then i get a with screen on the HTC Kaiser. NO tri-color-screen !!!

From what I've read you need to remove your sim card and your microsd card then try again

There is no simcard and microsd in the htc Kaiser.
on the HTC Kaiser is the original T-Mobile software, nothing else

Perhaps your problem is related to new SPL... take a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349476

When your phone is booting up, look in the lower right corner. If you have a line that reads:
D 1.57.00.00
Then you most likely have the issue in the thread mentioned by jcespi2005. If you have:
D 1.56.00.00
Then its probably something else (as 1.56.00.00 should be able to do the HardSPL).

Why not flash the old SPL to the device then you can use Hard_SPL. I havent checked but arent there original ROM available(of course CID/carrier specific) from before 1.57.

The real problem is SSPL used to flash HardSPL is not working with this one, so you can't go back to previous SPL... don't know what shipped ROMs are out that allows flash over this SPL...but perhaps this can be a way to go...

well... for the Tilt you can't flash the "official" ROM back to the device because of an "Invalid Vendor ID", I'm not sure why this is but it just doesn't work. You can however flash the AKU0.4.4 ROM to an unmodified Tilt so the CID apparently is good on that ROM. However I've done this and it does not fix the "white screen" issue on the affected devices.

I have unlocked my CID on my G4 phone, I have downloaded SNN version 2.0 I have a question, do I just hook my phone through active sync or is there a special way to install a rom? Really could use some details here. I've read the newbie instalation post but it leaves this part out. Thanks

Yep, if you have xp, another option is to flash it with a miniSD card or in the bootloader mode

I have XP, I tried it and got the 3 red colors, I unhooked the usb and and rebooted the phone and it came back ok, but it updated nothing, I really want wm6 but just dont understand.

OK I downloaded TNT TouchFlo, This is what I see when I download and open it what do I do from here no read me's, There is a Bootloader , nk.nbf , RUUGetInfo.exe file, RUUResource.dll file, XP_ROMUpdateUtility.exe file,
Do I need to drag and drop a file into something or just click on one of the exe files. This is not explained in the newbie section. Thanks again

A G4 device cannot be CID unlocked,what you mean by saying You got it CID unlocked,Have you applied 'HardSPL' what IPL/SPL it shows at present ?

I applied the hard one and the IPL is at 2.21.0001 and SPL 2.21.0lip

All you have to do is run the RomUpdateUtility.exe. I would recommend making sure you don't have any screen savers running on your pc and that you put your phone into "airplane mode" from your comm manager before clicking the update utility.
Once you click on the rom update utility you will be presented with a series of screens. The first two screens you have to check off that you understand and press next. It will then get your current rom settings then you click update then next.
The point that the your phone is being "flashed" is represented when you have a progress bar. Make sure you don't touch your pc or your phone. The process takes about 10 minutes to complete. It may also seem to "freeze" around the 99% or 100%, just let it be, this point of the process always takes longer. The process will complete with a screen saying that you've successfully updated your device, it will then send an order to reboot your phone. Congrats you've updated your phone.

everything was going good , then error 300, invalid update tool, The update utility cannot be used for your PDA phone. Please get newer update utility.
Thats what it says and I have the 3 color screen on my phone, what do I do now? LOL Hope its still ok. Everything worked fine till the update bar appeared then that message appeared.

That is NOT CID-unlocked, just to trick RUU as if it is unlocked. If you use WST, you can still see your CID is locked.

You are wrong here,its not CID unlocked,its just tricked into CID unlocked with a patched IPL/SPL,whereas,its not actually CID unlocked.

Okay my fault, i should have phrased my statement correctly. That's what i meant to say but in the end the CID needs to be "unlocked".

Thanks guys, but with the SPL and IPL where they are I should be able to flash correct? When I do I get error 300 as I posted earlier, Yoy also state to download Muns I think, how do I replace the Ruu in it, Please explain.

Download the RUU MUN from the attached file,extract the zipfile and copy and paste all the contents of the unzipped file RUU MUN to the folder of the Rom you downloaded and then run the RUU, or extract the 'nk.nbf' file from the Rom folder and paste it in the RUU MUN folder and run the RUU,ok

I want to add the voice calling thing and I find there are cab files for that, how do I add a cab file is it the same as a flash, or is it just copy and paste to the device? Thanks again you guys have helped me so much.

Just copy and paste cabfile anywhere in the phone,preferably 'My documents' and execute it there in the phone,after install,you can delete the cabfile to save space

Helo dears I have a G3 i-mate k-jam wanted to update it. Unfortunately I updated it to 3.08 with IPL_SPL_3.08 tool. Now when I try to update it, all the process goes as usual (from 0 to 100%) but after restart first screen appears win6.1 the next screen win 5 as it was. I think I have to downgrade SPL from 3.08 to 1.06 first, and then I’ll be able to update it. But how??? Pls help me.

Perhaps ! its still CID unlock,did you CID unlock it before upgrading to IPL/SPL 3.08 ? download WST 4.2.2 tool and run the 'CID Action' button to verify the CID lock/unlock status.
Don't downgrade directly from 3.08 to 1.xx,Sometimes SPL freezes at 3.08 and won't get downgraded if you flash Button's Rom 1.05 to downgrade directly,First try to downgrade to 2.xx by downloading and flashing the official Rom,then after that downgrade to 1.xx through Button's Rom.

Upgrading, where did I go wrong?

Okay, I was hoping this wouldn't happen, and it was all going so well.
I have an HTC Wizard (O2 XDA Mini S), was on WM5.

to the tee.
I got TNT V5 Prof from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=330289 and installed.
I rebooted my device and now it just sits at the first screen with the 1PL/SPL (both at 2.26) have I bricked the thing?

Work out if you own a G3 or a G4 device then flash back to the rom that was shipped with your device. After doing this you should be fine to try and flash a custom rom again.

You're going to have to excuse my ignorance, because I'm not tech minded when it comes to this.
I thought my phone was G3 , due to the settings(the numbers 1SL thiniges were all 1.xx), would that have been the reason the new TNT ROM didn't work?
At the moment it won't connect to my PC so how would I be able to flash it back to the shipped OS? (Not that I have that lurking, I'm going to have to track it down on the internet it was an O2 based WM5 any recommendations as to where I can find it?).

Press at the same time at youre voice and camera button and then press with your stylus in the "hole" besides the IR port.
Keep holding buttens and them you see a lot of colors on youre screen.
After that you can use the love or button ROM (G4/G3) to reset fone to a possible functional state.

You have a G3 device,the reason you cudn't upgrade to wm6 TNT v5 Prof is that your phone is still CID locked,you didn't do the CID unlocking corectly.As long as it gets into Bootloaders (tricolor screen) its safe,just download the official rom ,hook up your phone with pc via usb,watch small usb appear at the bottom of the bootloaders, if its there than flash it,it'll start to work,after that download the 'WST_4.2.2' tool and run the 'CID Action' button to verify the CID lock/unlock status.

It's all back to working - I'll re-do the CID thing now - I'm sure I set it up properly, but I shall go through it again!

I've run the tool and it says I am CID unlocked already.
I'm now running the Button ROM (I think - there's a beer glass image when it loads up.)
So do I go back, flash the T-Mobile ROM then Flash the TNT ROM?
It all seemed so simple at 1am this morning now I'm befuddled!

YUP ! if WST Tool confirms its CID unlocked,than there's no need to redo all the CID unlock again,just upgrade to T-mobile 2.26 to upgrade to IPL/SPL 2.xx and than you can upgrading to TNT shud be easy.

AT&T Tilt blank screen after Kaiser Sim Unlocker!

The screen remains black, blank, and does not light up, even though activesync knows the device has booted because the icon becomes green. I can't navigate any controls, though the keys do light up when I slide it, or press buttons. Screen remains blank/black.
Here is what I did to get to this state:
1) I first hard reset my Kaiser, to reset all user preferences. This I accouplished by pressing both soft keys while pressing power (if I recall correctly), then hitting the green call button. It then installed Windows Mobile fresh.
2) I then followed the HardSPL instructions, here:

Everything went fine.
3) I then followed the Kaiser Sim Unlocker instructions here:

After completing step 5, the device rebooted, the AT&T icon displayed, then the screen goes blank and stays that way.
What should I do? Did I miss something? Is this recoverable?

It also does not have any sound. Does this mean I can't unlock?
How do I flash back to the original rom?

Ok, looks like have version 1.27.12.11 rom, during boot.... according to this page it isn't ok for my AT&T Tilt device.

Ok, question: Will I use the file in Step 3 to put that on the phone? It is saying there is a file open...? I can't disable USB on the device, as the screen is blank.
[EDIT] Looks like everything I needed was in the download. I put the other ROM back on. However, I'm having a problem with activesync... When I click on Connection Settings active sync freezes up. Any ideas what to do to fix ActiveSync so I can turn off USB, without crashing ActiveSync?

Okay, I got the screen with the unlock code... only it gave me this readout:
Your Unlockcode = ........
just like that, with dots.
Is there any way to unlock a phone, if the screen goes black? I can go back to the old firmware, but this special firmware is needed I think to do the unlock, and this special firmware makes the screen go black on my model.
EDIT: On page 33 of the Kaiser unlocker topic, I found what looks like my answer. I need the AT&T 1.57 ROM, as it is compatible with this patched radio so the display will work. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find it on this forum yet. EDIT 2: Found it, loading it on now: http://www.4shared.com/file/3857459...ULAR_WWE_157_-_Originaly_Shipped_ATT_ROM.html

Unlock worked, once I had the AT&T 1.57 version of the ROM on there. ActiveSync still freezes, but I uninstalled it for the section where I was supposed to disable USB. Installed the 1.27.12.11 radio after completing the unlock, replacing the patched radio. All finished.

what do you mean when you say it "didn't help"?

I still get the blank screen..I am now downloading the AT&T 1.57 version .. I am hoping if I install this I will get the display and I can proceed to step 8a, 8b,..

But did you even bother reading through the other threads with the exact same problem as you?
the problem you have is that you flashed an incompatible radio with the ROM that you are runing on the phone. You need to reflash the ROM with a rom that is compatible with the radio or reflash the radio rom to what came with the phone rom that you are running.
You should have upgraded to a 6.1 cooked rom prior to doing the SIM/CID unlock.
Flash your phone with a cooked 6.1 rom that INCLUDES the radio, and then try the CID/SIM unlocker.

No,
Unless you know the stock ROM comes with a compatible radio, it will not work. The problem you are having is because you loaded a radio that is not compatible with the stock rom.
If you already have hardspl loaded, then load a cooked 6.1 ROM that includes a compatible radio (for example L26 v9 rom or Sleuth 3.0 rom).

ok..am a BIG novice here..may be a bad question..I have Windows 6.0 on the mobile..so the Cooked 6.1 ROM L26 that I found http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=26925 fits into this? Do I need to upgrade to 6.1 before this? sorry if its a wrong question ..

I now installed a 6.1 ROM..now do I need to downgrade to be able to do SIM unlock?
