Hi all,
I'm so excited that I just got my Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2. You guys are the best and are very helpful. Thanks
First Question, Can I use this phone with Tmobile or AT&T in the USA?
Second Question, my phone sees my storage card for a little bit then disappear, I have to either reboot the phone or take out memor card and put it back in. Is there a fix to this?
Third, Is there any lag in the GPS? I know that with the Touch Pro 1 the only good GPS application is either IGO 8 or TOM TOM 8. Let me know. Thanks again
you cant use the sprint touch pro2 on att or tmobile. the sim card works only on european phone operators. there may or may not be a hack for this in the future.
the gps works fine for me. after using quickgps the gps detects the satellites quickly. it works fine and is pretty acuurate too i think.
my storage card works fine. dont know what is with yours.
for gps i have google maps, bing maps (live search), and sprint navigation

Which GPS program are you using. TomTom 7 is lagging according to others and I can't get 6 to work at all.
pointers

That is partially incorrect: U.S. GSM providers are blocked, but any sim will work outside the US market (not just europe) and it doesn't need to be unlocked for this. As it appears that the GSM block is in firmware, it is likely that it will be defeated eventually. We have a Sprint TP2 user in China right now that confirmed all of this.
As for GPS, I've been using Google Maps and Route 66 without issue, but there is also a tutorial on how to get Igo 8 working on the TP2: igo 8 on TP2
Additionally, the TouchPro 2 cleanup makes a number of improvements for the TP2 all in one cab: TP2 clean up

Hi,
I had the same problem with My Sandisk 16GB MicroSD. I resolved these issue formatting th microSD card with the default parameters and the "normal-slow" option, in my PC w/Vista Business.

Hi.i got a touch cruise before 2 weeks and i face a serious problem.it loses signal from my provider all time and i must enter comm manager to enable and after disable airplane mode.sometimes it says that my sim is missing.anyone has an idea where the problem is?
I had this problem with my Orbit 1 and never did find a solution. Other SIM cards from other providers did not have the same problem. I also found that it was effected by other devices such as a transceiver that uses Tetra. I would love to know if there is a solution.
unfortunely everything i tried cannot solve the problem.i feel like i threw 800 usd into trash bin
its really a shame.i have nothing more to say
Hi again.I updated my radio rom to 1.58.25.14 but i still have the same problem.any ideas?
i still get the no service error and after sim is missing error
1 the sim is not compatible try getting a newer sim from the provider
2 the phone is defect

Hi there,
I have recently unlocked an XDA Orbit to work on any network which is great except it doesn't seem to recognise my network which is 3.
Apparently this is because my current phone that the sim is in is a Viewty which is video-calling capable but the Orbit isn't (no camera on the front?)
I was told i could obtain an old 3 sim card from the network themselves but they were very unhelpful to be honest, said they could issue me a new SIM card for £5 which may or may not work but it wont be guaranteed to work on a phone not 'approved' by them.
Can anyone help at all with some other advice? I will order the sim and try it but i was wondering if that doesn't work am i screwed? or is there another alternative?
Thanks.
Does anybody know, if - on a tmob-branded Omnia 7 with navigon select - all these tmob-apps work without a tmob sim ??? Or are they locked to a special sim-type....
Thx!
ugg... when are we getting a navigation app state side!? on a side note... I have no idea what the answer to your question is. I saw "Navigon" and my intrest was peaked. I use Navigon as well as tomtom on my touch pro 2. *sigh*
Navigon Select does not work with out a t-mobile sim unless you do the new posted work arounds.
In fact, it doesn't change anything having it branded, right ?
I can't really tell you wether or not a t-mob sim is required, but I assume it does. You definatelly need a t-mob branded phone, though.
1. You can't run Navigon on an unbranded phone, even if you have T-Mobile. I tried and Navigon would complain about me having to insert a T-Mobile SIM (even though I had).
2. If I enable airplane mode, Navigon complains that I need to start a data connection with T-Mobile to use it.
so, it's all 2 presumably: T-Mob branded phone and SIM.

This definatelly didn't work for me. I have a branded T-Mobile HTC 7 Mozart. I unbranded it and installed the Navigon software. When I started the navigon software, it would refuse to download the maps. I had to revert back to T-Mob branding to download the maps to my phone.
I have an Omnia 7 wich came with T-Mobile branding but I flashed the unbranded KC3 firmware.
When I still had a vodafone sim I could not even find Navigon in the marketplace.
After switching to t-mobile I went to the marketplace, found the app and installed it. Works without any problems.
Was talking to the T-mobile rep about the gps issue and not locking in within secs as it did the first day of purchase. Went through some steps then he informed me that I have the older 2G Sim card and I needed to go to a Tmobile store to upgrade my sim card to the new UICC 3G sim cards. This is the first I ever heard of this as he said they were release back in January. Called the local T-mobile store and they confirmed it. So now i'm going to head to the store and see if it makes a difference. Wanted to know if anyone else has heard of this?
Jeffrey G: Now, I've noticed that you are still using an older version 2G SIM, though you have now been using 3G style phones.
_Jeffrey G: Last January we came out with a new version SIM card, called UICC 3G, because we've seen a lot of the 3G phones acting up with the older SIM cards.
Ange: how do you know the difference between a 2g Sim and 3G style sim
_Jeffrey G: Things like, freezing up, losing signal, not getting data signal, rebooting and bogging down.
_Jeffrey G: Well, some of the UICC SIM cards show UICC on it, though not all batches do. We can see it on the network side as it is listed as what type you are using.
_Jeffrey G: If you go to locator.t-mobile.com you can find the closest T-Mobile Corporate Store.
_Jeffrey G: Labeled with a pink "T" icon, there you can trade in your SIM and get the new SIM at no charge. We can even help transfer everything over for you.
Ange: will i still keep the same number
_Jeffrey G: Absolutely!

Wish that would have fixed my problems - I got a new SIM with this latest G2x.. It worked fine for 3 days then started the reboot tango just like the 3 before it.

How can the gps issue be the sim card if it the same one you were using when phone was properly working.

How can the speed at which the phone acquires a GPS lock be a SIM card issue AT ALL?
I have an older R20 SIM attached and I don't have much problem.
Well GPS will use cellular triangulation to help speed up the initial lock, which can take up to 2 minutes (cold lock vs warm lock).
AGPS uses cellular towers to help narrow down the search. GPS is basically a timestamp signal and satellite position. With multiple timestamps and satellite positions, it can calculate an almost exact position on the planets surface.
Typically GPS units with an active data connection can keep a cache of satellites and their orbits. If you have a rough position via cellular tower triangulation and a timestamp, you can greatly reduce of satellites that are supposed to be in the sky above and get a quicker fix on a location.
So technically, if your cellular is screwed up, you won't get a quick fix like most of us are used to (under 10 seconds). Before AGPS and all the new techniques, 2 minutes was normal under cold conditions.
Today, using CM7 #38, I used my GPS to try to navigate to a place I had never been. I was in the outskirts of a major city and had 3G/4G signal. I watched the clock for an exact fix. 2 minutes.
So either the AGPS isn't downloading and pre-caching information properly or there is a problem with triangulation to begin with... or both.
Some people have claimed that the default AGPS data servers are bonked and thus changing to another GPS server has yielded quicker response times. Others say the SIM has helped. Others have said their rom has helped (which may use different servers by default). I don't know. But anything is possible.
I do know that I was getting pretty quick locks when I first got the phone running stock. Perhaps it is another driver issue (Froyo vs GB). I don't think it is a hardware issue though and the locks, once locked, work pretty well and accurate. I'm leaning toward a software issue since there seems to be a few of them we are aware of... especially driver related.
BTW I'm using the SIM that came with the phone just for good measure.
Ok so let me clear a few things up here. I work in Tech Care/PDA Support and a new sim will not fix software slowness or lagging when switching programs. The only time I ever recommend a new sim is if there are drop calls, intermittent texting failures, data connection drops that are consistent, etc. This also isn't going to give you a faster data speed.
It doesnt hurt to make the switch, but that rep gave unrealistic expectations.
Hey Guys purchase the 16GB oneplus one from china, I use 3g Tmobile, and tryed vodaphone also but Can not get any signal!

Which is why you shouldn't purchase a non compatible phone, for use in another area?
This is why you shouldn't buy this phone from the scalpers. The chinese version does not support many of the worldwide bands that the "global" version of the phone does. My advice would be to try to sell it to someone who can use it and sign up on the OnePlus forums and wait for an invite for the CM version which supports the bands you need.
Get a new sim, sounds like an old sim that doesn't have the updated CellID info in it.
I had to change my 3 sim when I had my SGS4 as it wouldn't register because it was too old.

I had that happen to me on the interational one and felt quite dumb afterwards...
Make sure the SIM card tray is rotated DOWN so that the contacts on the sim card look to the back of the phone.
It will fit both ways (imho a very strange design choice) but with a tiny little space left when rotated the wrong way.
In other words: turn the phone on it's screen before inserting the sim card facing you.
I have _NO_ clue why the phone thinks it has a SIM card when obviously it cannot access it...
